PACFPE Chapter 13

Ruan Ning hid alone in the supermarket, not daring to make a sound, occasionally peeking out from behind the shelves to observe the situation outside, looking around cautiously.

When the surrounding commotion completely subsided and no zombies were in sight, Ruan Ning dared to run out of the supermarket.

“No, I can’t stay here any longer. I have to hurry back to the apartment.” Nothing made Ruan Ning feel safer than being in the apartment. At least that was the case so far.

Ruan Ning decisively gave up the idea of going to the nearby pharmacy to get medicine. Her right eyelid had been twitching just now. It was said that a twitching left eyelid signified good luck, while a twitching right eyelid signified disaster. Although she didn’t used to believe in such superstitions, today she couldn’t help but feel that something big was going to happen.

In any case, it wasn’t suitable to stay here any longer. She didn’t want to stay behind to feed the zombies.

Moreover, risking so much just to get a little medicine wasn’t worth it. She had already stored the medicine box prepared by the original owner in the space, and the medicines inside were enough to deal with some ordinary situations.

If necessary, she could find another opportunity to go to the pharmacy later. It’s not like she urgently needed it right now.

Ruan Ning didn’t want to linger in this place for a moment longer. She turned around and walked quickly towards the direction of the residential area, as if something terrifying was chasing her from behind.

However, this time, Ruan Ning wasn’t as lucky as when she came out.

Because she had spent an extra hour and a half in the supermarket, by this time it was already bright outside. Perhaps due to the previous commotion, the zombies in the residential area had become more restless. Ruan Ning had to put in a lot of effort to successfully avoid them without coming into close contact.

But that wasn’t the end of it. Just as Ruan Ning finally managed to evade the zombies, she saw several people poking their heads out of the windows of the high-rise buildings nearby. There were people in several buildings on both sides. She was sure she had been seen because there were people shouting loudly at her from above, almost bringing the zombies back to her again.

“Girl, what’s the situation outside now? When will the people sent by the government to rescue us arrive?!”

“Sister, can you bring me some food? I’ll pay you double!”

“You bring it to our house first, and I’m willing to pay five times the price!”

“I can pay ten times!”

Ruan Ning looked at the zombies that had returned because of the noise and muttered to herself, “…”

She lowered her hat to cover most of her face and quickly left this troublesome place, ignoring the complaints and curses from the people in the high-rise buildings behind her.

The feeling of having her plans disrupted by others was unpleasant, and Ruan Ning felt irritable. Fortunately, she lived in the 20-1 building, the outermost high-rise apartment, and people from other buildings couldn’t see which building she had entered. Also, she subconsciously wore a peaked cap to cover her face when she went out, so even if someone came looking for her, it would be frustrating for them.

It wasn’t until she safely returned home and locked the door that the frustration in Ruan Ning’s heart remained unabated. Thinking back on her experiences along the way, she felt like she was going to explode with anger.

She couldn’t understand why there were still people in City S who were so reckless. It would have been one thing if they were just being reckless, but they had to pick today, when she had gone out early in the morning to collect supplies, to disrupt her plans and bring her so much trouble.

Fortunately, she had collected all the supplies from the supermarket, or else she would have definitely considered beating that person to death.
