PACFPE Chapter 36

On the other side.

Ruan Ning waited until there was no sound at the door before slowly opening her eyes and beginning to take out everything she needed from her space.

Just as she was about to change out of her dirty shirt, her gaze caught something on the edge of the bed—a black jacket.

—This wasn’t her jacket.

The light blue jacket Ruan Ning had worn earlier had been stained with blood, so this black one belonged to Gu Yicheng. He had given it to her when he carried her out of the car. But when he dropped her off, he had forgotten to take it back.

Should she return it to him now? Maybe he hadn’t gone far yet.

Ruan Ning glanced at her still-swollen ankle and immediately dismissed the idea of going downstairs to look for him.

…Forget it, she would return the jacket in a few days.

Gu Yicheng probably didn’t need the jacket that badly, but when she returned it, she could use the opportunity to get in front of him again and remind him of her presence.

It was a win-win plan, Ruan Ning thought happily, then comfortably laid back down to rest.

However, as she was about to fold the jacket and put it away, a few crystal cores fell out of its pocket.

She rummaged through the pocket and found quite a few more!

These crystal cores were different from the one Ruan Ning had bought at the market the day before. They were all colourless and transparent, and one of them was larger and more distinctly shaped than the others.

When the team was killing zombies earlier, Ruan Ning vaguely remembered seeing Lin Yang and the others digging out crystal cores from the zombies’ heads.

At the time, she had been too tense and focused on killing zombies to think about collecting cores.

Since this was part of today’s spoils, that unique crystal core must have come from the mutated fast zombie that Gu Yicheng had electrocuted earlier.

Ruan Ning had assumed the male lead would have stored the cores in his space, but he had simply left them in his jacket pocket, seemingly unconcerned about losing them.

…Well, considering Gu Yicheng’s abilities, it made sense. He didn’t need to worry about losing something as trivial as a crystal core. If he ever wanted more, he could just go to an area swarming with zombies and kill a few dozen.

Ordinary crystal cores didn’t even catch Gu Yicheng’s eye. Among the handful of cores in his jacket pocket, the only one that might have interested him at all was the one from the mutated fast zombie.

Ruan Ning had only picked up the crystal core out of curiosity, but to her surprise, it started to disappear within moments, eventually seeping into her skin.

At the same time, she felt a warm current rushing through her body, finally settling in her arm—specifically, the left arm where she had injured herself earlier that day.

After about a few dozen seconds, the heat dissipated completely.

Frowning slightly, Ruan Ning stared at the bandage on her arm for a while, then decided to remove the wrapping that Gu Yicheng had just put on.

To her astonishment, the skin on the outer side of her arm, which had been scraped and bloody from the small stones, was already scabbing over.

In disbelief, she touched the wound, but there was no pain.

Her injury had nearly healed in less than a minute. While the wound hadn’t been too severe to begin with, normally, it would have taken at least three to five days for it to scab over to this extent.

Ruan Ning thought it might have been a fluke, so after a moment of hesitation, she picked up another crystal core and focused on it. As expected, this one also began to dissolve in her hand.

This time, she paid even closer attention. The moment the crystal turned into liquid, it was absorbed through her skin, leaving no trace.

Immediately, another surge of warmth coursed through her body, and on her arm, where the scab had formed, the unsightly scab began to peel away, leaving behind only a faint scar.

Intrigued, Ruan Ning continued experimenting with the crystal cores, curious to see just how much they could heal.

As she conducted her little experiment, the scar gradually faded. By the time she had used the fifth crystal core, the skin on her left arm had returned to its original smooth, white state, with no sign that it had ever been injured.

If she hadn’t witnessed it herself, Ruan Ning wouldn’t have believed that the wound that had caused her so much pain earlier was now completely healed in a matter of minutes.

So crystal cores could be used like this?

What girl doesn’t care about her appearance? Ruan Ning had initially been worried about whether she would be left with a scar, but now it seemed that her concerns were completely unnecessary.

However, one thing puzzled her. She had never heard of crystal cores being able to heal external injuries.

Could it be that not everyone could do this? Was it possible that only her body had this special ability?
