TVFCATEOD Chapter 15

The men and women who survived in the village were holding weapons and surrounding the courtyard of A Bao and A Wang’s house, making a loud commotion.

“A Wang is about to turn into a zombie soon. Quickly drive him out!”

“Yes, we can’t keep him in the village. Either kill him or drive him out and let him fend for himself!”

A Bao and his family stood in front of the door, with a look of anguish on their faces. After finally finding A Wang, the villagers were forcing them to drive their son away.

“No, don’t drive away my brother,” A Bao’s young face was filled with fear. He spread his small hands in front of everyone, not budging an inch.

The Thunder Squad planned to rest for a day and leave Zhou Village tomorrow. They didn’t want to meddle in the village’s affairs or interfere unnecessarily.

However, Bai Qingqing couldn’t just ignore the situation. After all, the system hadn’t issued a mission yet, neither declaring it a failure nor a success. That meant the mission could still be completed.

When a human is bitten by a zombie, they don’t immediately turn into a zombie. It takes a few minutes or some time before the transformation occurs. A Wang’s condition, with a high fever, seemed more like an awakening of abilities.

However, he happened to fall into a coma after inhaling the Purple Wisteria Tree pollen, which was considered a hidden danger by the villagers.

After the battle with the Purple Wisteria Tree, the villagers were afraid of unexpected incidents. They would rather make a mistake by killing someone than let anyone slip through.

The noise around A Wang’s house was loud, and Bai Qingqing stood on a high slope observing the situation’s development. She saw a figure rushing out and quickly called out to them.

“Sister, where are you going?”

The sister had tears streaming down her face as she looked up at her. “Sister Qingqing, I’m going to find A Wang.” With that, she ran towards A Wang’s house.

“Sister, come back here! You damn bitch!” A man cursed as he walked over, staring angrily at the sister’s figure from a distance. He raised his voice in a furious shout, “What use is it for me to raise you? You’re just a worthless burden!”

Bai Qingqing looked at the unpleasant man and pondered in her heart. Could this be the sister’s father?

The man noticed her gaze and gave her an uncomfortable look, smirking. “Miss, why don’t you stay in Zhou Village for a few more days?”

The relationships in Zhou Village were much more disgusting than they appeared on the surface. Men were superior, and women were treated as commodities. They were capable of doing anything, and women were subjected to physical abuse and verbal insults while doing all the work.

Although the old tribal chief had died, these surviving men still held onto their despicable and backward thinking.

Bai Qingqing ignored him, but the sister’s father cursed at her, “Bitch.”

“Whoosh!” An arrow pierced through the air and aimed directly at the sister’s father, penetrating his shoulder.

The middle-aged man screamed in pain, clutching his bleeding shoulder. Fear filled his eyes as he looked at the man who appeared beside the girl.

Fu Chen held a bow and arrow used by the village hunters, his expression grim and terrifying. He coldly stared at the middle-aged man and spat out a single word, “Get lost!”

The man knew that these outsiders were not easy to provoke and reluctantly left.

Bai Qingqing turned to look at Fu Chen and said, “Brother.”

Fu Chen asked, “Do you have a close relationship with that girl?”

Bai Qingqing pondered for a few seconds before saying, “I feel sorry for her. After experiencing a life-and-death ordeal, they thought they could be together, but who knew they would face such a situation.”

Her tone carried a calm sadness. “Perhaps it’s all predetermined by fate.”

Fu Chen glanced at her delicate profile and said lightly, “Do you still believe in that?”

“I don’t believe,” Bai Qingqing turned back and smiled at him, saying, “But sometimes we have no choice but to believe, don’t we, brother?”

Even though she had changed the plot and survived, the Thunder Squad still arrived at Zhou Village, and she saved A Mei and A Wang. However, A Wang developed a high fever again.

Looking at the girl with a hint of sorrow on her face, Fu Chen said, “I only believe in myself.”

His tone carried a hint of arrogance.

Bai Qingqing thought to herself, “You are one of the male leads destined by the heavens, so of course, you have the right to be arrogant.”

“Let’s go and take a look,” Fu Chen pulled her towards A Wang’s house.

Bai Qingqing was somewhat surprised. “Brother, do you want to help A Wang?”

Fu Chen didn’t say anything and led her to the outside of A Bao’s house. The villagers were still causing a commotion, threatening A Bao’s family. If they didn’t hand over A Wang, they would set their house on fire.

Upon hearing this, A Bao’s father said to his mother, “Let’s drive A Wang out of the village.”

A Bao’s mother looked at him incredulously and cried in anguish, “Do you have no conscience? He is your son. I won’t allow it!”

The villagers praised A Bao’s father for being righteous and sacrificing his own family. It stirred up his emotions, and he pushed the woman away, saying, “Get lost! I am the head of the family!”

“A Dad, don’t drive my brother away!” A Bao went over and hugged the man’s leg.

A Mei also rushed over and pleaded, “Uncle, I beg you, A Wang is fine. He really is fine. Please don’t drive him out.”

“You bitch!” A Bao’s father slapped her, angrily accusing, “If it weren’t for you, he wouldn’t be like this now!”

A Mei fell heavily to the ground and pleaded in a desperate manner, “A Bao is really fine. I’m begging all of you, don’t drive him out of the village.”

“Spineless woman!” Several men looked at A Mei with contemptuous eyes. “If you keep interfering, we’ll drive you out too.”

Women had low status in the village, and being driven out was simply a matter of the men’s word.

Soon, A Bao’s father came out of the house, probably fearing that A Wang would mutate, and he threw his clothes into the courtyard.

“A Wang.” A Mei rushed over and hugged him tightly.

A Bao wanted to go over but was lifted up. “Get back inside, you bastard.”

“Brother…” A Bao’s voice cried out, full of despair and agony.

The villagers went to grab A Wang, and A Mei desperately tried to protect him. In the chaos, some men took advantage of the situation and tore their clothes in the process.

“Stop!” Bai Qingqing couldn’t hold back any longer and shouted.

She pushed her way out of the crowd and looked at the distorted faces of the villagers, saying, “A Wang won’t turn into a zombie.”

Clearly, nobody was willing to believe the words of an outsider.

“Sister.” A Bao rushed out and hugged her leg, glaring at the villagers. “The fairy sister said that my brother won’t turn into a monster. You’re not allowed to drive him away.”

This drew ridicule from the crowd. “Little brat, what do you know?”

Bai Qingqing’s face turned cold, about to speak, when a male voice interrupted, “There’s a fifty percent chance your brother will turn into a zombie.”

Shen Mingxuan stepped forward, accompanied by the other members of the Thunder Squad.

He held a gun, the black muzzle pointed toward Bai Qingqing’s side, as if he intended to kill either her or A Wang. His tone was icy and merciless.

“The best way to handle this is to kill him while he hasn’t turned yet.”

The Thunder Squad was known for their decisive and ruthless actions, so they implicitly agreed with Shen Mingxuan’s words. No one spoke up, not even Bai Qingqing, who had always been kind-hearted.

Facing the ominous barrel of the gun, Bai Qingqing maintained a calm smile and said, “What if he doesn’t turn into a zombie? Then you would have killed the wrong person.”

Shen Mingxuan narrowed his eyes and coldly replied, “I’d rather kill the wrong person than let him go.”
