LLASBWUH Chapter 72

Starting from 01

The final day of the body swap.

In truth, it was also an ordinary day.

There were many things they could do on this day. Gu Cheng had prepared many ceremonial little moments, and some… activities. But the first thing they had to do was—

Ning Yi had a game-planning meeting to attend.

Gu Cheng also had a project meeting to hold.

—Who told them both to be CEOs now?

Ning Yi: There’s really no helping it ^3^

This final swap didn’t exactly bring any revelation, but both sides clearly felt that it was about to end.

And right now, the two of them were in each other’s bodies. The mechanism was no longer under their control. It seemed like it was showing itself one last time, then would automatically come to a close in their lives.

So today’s meetings could only be attended by each of them on the other’s behalf. Fortunately, both were in the industrial park, and over the years, their careers had overlapped a lot. They both understood a little about what the other was working on.

Just like many years ago, Gu Cheng briefly explained the content to Ning Yi, then patted her head. “If you find it troublesome, just stay silent.”

Then they would revise things themselves.

Ning Yi couldn’t help giggling.

Being a domineering CEO was still as easy as it had been back then!

“Okay, husband. My work is very simple too,” Ning Yi said. “If you find it troublesome, just lie down.”

Then they would revise things themselves.

Gu Cheng: “?”

The couple looked at each other for a few seconds, then couldn’t help laughing.

As expected of husband and wife.

It had also been a long time since the two of them had switched into each other’s bodies. Ning Yi lowered her head to look and unexpectedly felt a little unused to it.

It felt like Gu Cheng’s arms had become much stronger over the years—after thinking about it, it was probably because he had to carry two little balls every day.

Ning Yi squeezed her own arm. Mm, very good. Not a bit more muscle.

Thank you ^^

The two of them went to the industrial park together, then each entered their respective building.

And that morning—

“Young Master Gu” was strangely amiable, frightening the executives into holding several more meetings in private.

“Sister Ning” was extremely serious, frightening the designers into making several more planning proposals.

Efficiency was very high on both sides.

After finishing work that morning, Ning Yi was still a little reluctant.

After all, after today, there would be no more chances like this.

In the future, she wouldn’t be able to use a 188-centimetre body to show off, nor would she be able to stuff two stomachs full—Ning Yi sighed and walked out of the building with eight assistants and ten bodyguards.

Gu Cheng was already waiting for her at the entrance of the CMore building.

The two of them had worked using each other’s bodies, and sure enough, no one else had noticed anything unusual.

But just as Ning Yi walked over, suddenly, their bodies switched back again.

Ning Yi blinked.

As they looked at each other, they suddenly understood.

This was the body-swap mechanism’s final display, just like the first day they had switched bodies.

They could switch three times a day, followed by a cooldown period. This was the pattern they had vaguely figured out on the very first day.

Only this time, after the three switches today, the cooldown period would be the rest of their lives—

Ning Yi felt a little emotional and offered her hand.

Gu Cheng instinctively held it, interlocking their fingers.

Assistant Zhou, the bodyguards, and everyone around them were already used to being sweetened by this. The passing programmers were kicked with another mouthful of dog food and hurriedly ran away.

But Gu Cheng paid no attention to anyone else. He only looked at Ning Yi.

The remaining time should be used to properly commemorate this day.

“The countdown,” Gu Cheng said, kissing the back of her hand. “I’m very happy to share it with you.”

Ning Yi lifted her head and blinked. “What arrangements do you have?”

A smile appeared in Gu Cheng’s eyes.

“Let’s go on a date.”

Just like many years ago.

Slowly, together with you, spending it.

And so, today Wangwang and Mumu did not eat with Daddy and Mummy.

Song Lan and Old Master Gu were very happy, playing with the children at home.

However, the two children could not be entertained using ordinary methods. The cartoons on TV weren’t interesting. The two of them had their own things to secretly discuss.

The two little balls sat like small bundles on the fluffy carpet, speaking softly.

Wangwang told Mumu, “Today Daddy and Mummy are going on a date.”

“Is dating fun?” Mumu blinked her round eyes.

Wangwang didn’t understand either, but he said very seriously, “It’s fun.”

Mumu: “Wow.”

After a while, Mumu asked in a tiny voice, “Then… is Daddy Daddy, and is Mummy Mummy?”

They could feel that Daddy and Mummy were playing a very interesting game between them. It was their family’s little secret, only the four of them knew.

President Wangwang pondered chubbily for a few seconds, then nodded. “Of course they are.”

Mummy said this was the last time they would play this game.

And no matter what, Mummy was of course Mummy, and Daddy was of course Daddy—

Grandma and Great-Grandpa passing by: “??”

What a philosophical question. It was just like “Who am I, where did I come from, and where am I going?”

So the precious babies of their family had already started discussing such profound philosophical questions?

Goodness, as expected of children like their parents. So outstanding!

Gu Cheng and Ning Yi did indeed go on a date.

Young Master Gu had booked a restaurant on the top floor of a riverside skyscraper, overlooking the river view.

Today’s meal, as always, satisfied Ning Yi.

Over the years, it had always been like this.

Every meal was taken care of. Every matter had a response.

Young Master Gu had carried this through perfectly until now.

When they reached dessert, a small chamber orchestra appeared and performed a gentle string quartet for them, like a soft hymn.

Ning Yi rested her chin in her hand, smiling as she listened, and then received a bouquet of fresh Seine mist-purple roses.

All of it was arranged by Young Master Gu.

Very romantic.

Ning Yi looked at the man across from her, while he lowered his head to check his watch.

These little arrangements weren’t the main point—this moment in time was just right. He fastened his jacket and stood up.

“Let’s go.”

“Where to?”

“The sunset today will be beautiful,” Gu Cheng took her hand and smiled slightly, tilting his head. “I think it’s celebrating us.”

Ning Yi looked at him, then smiled. “—Is that so.”

They went somewhere very high.

Like a young couple, they got onto a Ferris wheel.

Of course, the difference was that Young Master Gu had booked the entire thing. The whole Ferris wheel belonged only to them, letting them enjoy tonight’s sunset alone.

Before night fully fell, the sunset spread across the world.

They sat in the small cabin, slowly being lifted into the sky above the city.

And just as Gu Cheng had said, it was a very beautiful sunset.

In the distance, warm golden light faded into the horizon, refracting into layers of pink and purple clouds.

It was as beautiful as the dyed roses in Ning Yi’s arms.

The Ferris wheel reached its highest point—a moment reserved for lovers.

At that sacred moment, Ning Yi looked at Gu Cheng.

Gu Cheng quietly looked at her too.

Her eyes were bright as she sighed softly. “—I admit it.”

Gu Cheng: “Hmm?”

On the last day, Ning Yi made a light confession. “I admit that using your mouth to say CEO-style lines, eating devil-level spicy peppers, using your legs to do splits, sending you flying to smell bad things, and scrubbing you with a bath towel… was a bit immoral ^u^”

Before she could even finish listing everything, Ning Yi was already laughing as she fell back into Gu Cheng’s arms.

She was really so wicked! Hahaha!

The small cabin swayed slightly, and Gu Cheng helplessly steadied her.

Very well. This woman was still completely unromantic.

But he couldn’t help it—he liked her.

“Husband, now you can take revenge if you want,” Ning Yi said, her bright eyes shining mischievously. “After all, once time passes, there’ll be no evidence anymore.”

From now on, all those body swaps—no one but them could prove they had ever happened.

But she would remember— how Gu Cheng had borne her menstrual pain, her pregnancy, her childbirth, how he had endured so much for her.

She would remember it well.

Gu Cheng thought of all those countless “crimes,” and in the end, he smiled. The deep blue glimmer in his dark eyes reflected her face.

“I have no grudges against you.”

“Oh.”

Ning Yi hung onto him.

Gu Cheng lowered his head and kissed her gently in the afterglow of the sunset.

The Ferris wheel completed another rotation before their kiss ended.

—Even if they were “crimes,” Gu Cheng thought.

Her mischief had awakened him, helped him stand, and brought him… everything he had now.

So how could he hold any resentment?

All he had was love.

The sunset was beautiful enough.

And the romance of everyday life would eventually return home.

When the night grew deep and shadows intertwined—

Ning Yi was once again drawn in, her voice soft and breathy.

“But didn’t you say… you wouldn’t take revenge?”

“Mm…” the man’s voice was low and magnetic, carrying a smile. “This is repayment.”

Gu Cheng devoted himself to bringing Ning Yi more happiness.

Whether as Teacher Gu or Doctor Gu, it was all joy he wanted to give to his “King 11.” And it would remain so for the rest of their lives.

Ning Yi accidentally glanced at the few strands of rope on her body and flushed completely red.

That was one of Gu Cheng’s gifts—something that looked like restraint, yet carried a deeper meaning.

And Gu Cheng had many more… gifts.

In her hazy state, she saw those long, well-defined fingers take out something… a finely crafted toy.

Ning Yi’s eyes were misty as she asked, “What is it?”

“Something to make you happy.”

And when it was switched on, her entire body trembled along with it.

“W-wait—!”

But Gu Cheng’s kisses followed, overwhelming and inescapable.

Just as everything built to a peak, her perspective suddenly flipped—

The third swap.

The final time.

Ning Yi’s gaze went unfocused for a few seconds before she finally caught her breath. She huffed, wanting to pinch him, but then remembered it was her own body and couldn’t bring herself to do it.

Gu Cheng, however, smiled.

Since it was the last time, they might as well use it well—

“Baby, look at me.”

Ning Yi instinctively lowered her eyes.

Then she watched as Gu Cheng, using Ning Yi’s hands, traced along her own curves, moving slowly.

He carefully felt every part of Ning Yi.

And Ning Yi, seeing herself from a third-person perspective, almost curled up—on skin pale like porcelain, wherever his fingertips passed, it was as if colour had been painted onto glaze.

And so sensation, awareness, nerves—

everything was ignited.

Even time—

Because at this moment, they also remembered—besides the final three switches before cooldown, there was another distant, original rule.

At midnight, everything would return to its place.

The countdown of time stimulated every nerve ending, making every inch of pleasure pulse intensely. They no longer knew where they were—only their souls colliding fiercely.

Like rushing toward some final carnival, closing their eyes, leaving only heat answering heat.

“Husband—”

When time reached its end, the feeling of their souls separating and returning to their bodies was like fireworks bursting brilliantly in their minds.

Their voices and breathing were broken and uneven.

Ning Yi could only hear Gu Cheng’s voice saying:

“—A Yi.”

“I love you.”

Gu Cheng had thought of many ways to make this moment special, but when it truly arrived, none of that mattered anymore.

Because in that thousandth of a second before midnight— all he wanted was to say that he loved her.

The body-swapping finally ended.

The exchange of emotions, the exchange of memories, would also end with it.

“Did you feel it?”

“Mm.”

Their emotions gradually settled from intensity into calm.

Their memories followed, scattering like drifting sand, flashing with fragments—

Images most deeply imprinted in their hearts—

Her blood-stained trouser leg.

Him charging into a tide of the undead.

Her voice calling out from across two worlds.

The heart-shaped pin he had clenched in his hand as he ran back.

And…

Two wrinkled little babies, just born.

Their tiny figures stumbling toward them.

At last, the fragments scattered into the air, and the long exchange came to an end.

Only the moonlight bore witness.

Gu Cheng was still holding Ning Yi, kissing her half-closed eyes.

After a while, Ning Yi finally opened them—

“We didn’t give them goodnight kisses today.”

Gu Cheng laughed softly. “Then let’s go now.”

So the two of them put on their clothes, got up, and went to the children’s room, watching them sleep peacefully in their small beds.

They gently kissed their foreheads.

Whether the children would remember their parents’ “game” when they grew up—

Ning Yi didn’t know.

But she knew that she and Gu Cheng would always watch them grow up well.

As a mother.

As a father.

They left the room and didn’t go back.

They walked through the quiet corridor and stopped at the domed terrace, looking up at the cool, bright moon.

A history that belonged only to them had come to an end, yet the world remained the same.

And perhaps it should be like this—it was just an ordinary day in their long lives.

Because after this day, there would still be years and years to come.

Even without the body swaps, they were still themselves.

So at this moment, there was no need for flowers or diamonds, no need for applause—only… you and me.

Ning Yi smiled, stood on her tiptoes, and wrapped her arms around his neck, her voice sweet.

“Do you know you’re really amazing, Gu Cheng?”

Gu Cheng smiled, holding her tightly. “It’s because I met you.”

Only then did the cold emperor have all of this.

Under the bright moonlight of dawn, he cherished her and kissed her lips.

Beyond the world, past the old days, memories like smoke and sea—this life vast and magnificent.

…All began with 01.

So—

You are my one and only luck.

With you in my life, everything is as it should be.

(End of the story)

**Nomad: So… thoughts? I enjoyed this novel so much. Although the chapters were super long! The love Gu Cheng has for Ning Yi ( ⸝⸝´ ᵕ `⸝⸝). I found myself laughing at all the character interactions many times. I love how the OG Female Lead is not some evil villain but completely brainless, its different to the usual novels. I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I did!**
