TVFCATEOD Chapter 107

Shen Mingxuan spared Bai Tiantian’s life out of consideration for their past relationship, but keeping her alive was already the greatest kindness he could show her. He didn’t like how Bai Tiantian would frequently come to find Qingqing.

Upon seeing Shen Mingxuan, Bai Tiantian quickly wiped away her tears, afraid that he would notice any flaws.

“I’ll leave first,” she hurriedly said and left.

Shen Mingxuan watched her coldly as she left, then approached Qingqing and asked, “What were you talking to her about?”

Qingqing lowered her gaze and played with a mobile game. “Nothing.”

She didn’t want to engage in further conversation with Shen Mingxuan and maintained her indifferent attitude, which only fuelled his anger. He forcefully took her phone.

“Stop playing,” he tightened his grip on the phone and pressed his lips together. “Let’s talk.”

Qingqing looked up at his face, trying not to pay attention to the phone. She hadn’t had the chance to delete the photos yet, and he had suddenly come in. The burnt smell and the sparks from the damaged phone were still present. “What is there left for us to talk about?”

She stood up and faced him, looking into his eyes. “Shen Mingxuan, you can rest assured that I will never love you.”

Shen Mingxuan’s expression changed, his face twisted in a grimace, his pain evident.

She knew how to hurt him, targeting his vulnerabilities. Her words caused more pain than any physical wounds. He took a step back as if he couldn’t stand his ground.

“What do you want then…” he gritted his teeth fiercely, the phone in his hand rendered useless, emitting sizzling sparks and the smell of burnt plastic.

Bai Qingqing was startled, looking at his injured hand. “My phone.”

Shen Mingxuan forcefully smashed the phone against the wall, creating a loud shattering sound. He grabbed Qingqing’s shoulder, his gaze fierce and menacing. “Can’t you forget about the past?”

Bai Qingqing raised her eyebrows coldly. Her tone was indifferent. “I’m human, I have memories, and I can’t forget.”

Shen Mingxuan’s beautiful pupils seemed to be covered in a mist. He appeared deeply hurt as he gazed at the indifferent girl.

It wasn’t that she had no heart, but her heart didn’t belong to him. It had been given to Fu Chen.

Shen Mingxuan felt both pain and resentment. Whether it was for the future of the zombies or for Qingqing, he was determined to kill Fu Chen.

“Qingqing,” he suddenly knelt in front of her, just like when he had turned into a zombie, looking up at her with a pitiful gaze. His voice was hoarse. “I don’t believe you have no feelings for me at all.”

“It was my fault before. I apologize to you. Please forgive me. Can we start over?”

Seeing him lower his stance, Bai Qingqing didn’t feel moved; instead, she became impatient. How many times did she have to tell him before he understood that she and him were simply impossible?

She looked at him calmly, unmoved by his words.

“Then I want you to let me go. Are you willing?” Bai Qingqing’s tone was impatient. “This place is filled with zombies, and there’s no human presence. I can’t even sleep peacefully.”

Shen Mingxuan suppressed the submissive expression on his face and regained the proud demeanour of the Zombie Emperor. He stood up and said coldly, “I won’t let you go.”

Bai Qingqing chuckled, full of mockery.

Finally, Shen Mingxuan realized that his innermost desires could never be fulfilled. Just like how he wanted her to treat him well and smile at him as she did in the past, while she constantly thought about leaving, escaping from this monster.

He chuckled self-deprecatingly, feeling miserable, and turned to leave.

The door closed, separating them into two different worlds.

In the bedroom, Bai Qingqing sat down and wiped the sweat from her forehead. She wondered how nervous she had been just now, afraid that Shen Mingxuan would discover the secrets in her phone.

Fortunately, her memory was exceptional, and she had already seen the photos and remembered many details.

Perhaps Shen Mingxuan had too much confidence in her, or perhaps he didn’t expect her to be in the zombie stronghold, daring to escape with someone.

Bai Qingqing utilized her special ability to create a spatial rift, first escaping outside through a hidden path, and then using mutated plants to mask their scent. Two hours later, they successfully escaped from the zombie city.

Once outside the city, Bai Qingqing didn’t dare to waste any time. She drove the car like a rocket, leaving the pursuing zombies far behind at a speed of hundreds of meters.

When Shen Mingxuan finished his tasks and came back, he found Bai Qingqing missing. He immediately rushed to Bai Tiantian’s room and indeed found the timid and cowardly Bai Tiantian gone as well.

The higher-ranked zombies never expected that two human girls would dare to escape, and the lower-ranked zombies were completely oblivious to their presence. As a result, Bai Qingqing and Bai Tiantian managed to escape from the zombie city, leaving Shen Mingxuan furious with anger.

The entire zombie city fell into a state of low pressure. The higher-ranked zombies, who had failed to keep an eye on the humans, were all killed, turning into lifeless corpses.

Shen Mingxuan had sustained severe injuries during the siege of the zombie city, and he still hadn’t fully recovered. Coupled with his recent busy schedule of expanding his power, his injuries worsened. Despite this, he wanted to go after them and capture Bai Qingqing.

Furious and pained, he forcefully spat out a mouthful of blood, wiped his mouth, and intended to chase after Qingqing.

Zhou Hang caught up to him and blocked his way. “People have arrived from the Jingzhou base, my lord. You can’t chase after them anymore.”

“Get out of my way!” Shen Mingxuan’s expression was fierce. There was no way he would easily let Bai Qingqing go, watching her escape back into Fu Chen’s arms like that.

Zhou Hang, facing the pressure of the Zombie Emperor, still persisted in blocking his path. “Your injuries haven’t healed yet. If you continue to chase after them, it will only worsen your condition. Can you escape from those few humans?”

Shen Mingxuan pushed him away with a palm. “If you keep blocking me, I’ll kill you right now.”

Seeing his crazed expression and furrowed brow, Zhou Hang had no choice but to follow him in pursuit.

“Qingqing!” Bai Tiantian screamed. “The zombies are chasing after us!”

Bai Qingqing, of course, understood the dangerous situation they were in. She stepped on the accelerator forcefully, racing on the bumpy road. The tires rubbed against the ground, creating splashing sparks.

Hordes of zombies chased after them, causing tremendous pressure. When a zombie in a beast-like form pounced, Bai Qingqing skilfully maneuvered the off-road vehicle, performing stunning drifts, avoiding the attack.

Bai Tiantian screamed in fear, tears streaming down her face. She was filled with sadness and despair. It seemed like today, she would either be eaten by zombies or die in a car crash. A tinge of regret flashed through her mind.

Bai Qingqing had no time to worry about whether she was scared or not. She focused on manipulating the vehicle, engaging in thrilling evasive manoeuvres against third and fourth-tier zombies.

In the distance, two off-road vehicles appeared in her line of sight, with a large cannon mounted on their roofs. With a loud bang, the cannon fired, launching shells into the sky, blowing away the pursuing zombies behind her vehicle.

She felt a surge of joy and immediately drove towards them at full speed.

Bai Tiantian’s vision blurred with tears as she stared at the people. “Team Leader Fu, Dr. Liang, Brother Cheng.”

They had all grown so much in the year or so since she last saw them. Why was she imprisoned in the zombie territory without anyone coming to rescue her? At this moment, she felt heartbroken and miserable, as if she were about to die.

“Give Qingqing back to me!” Shen Mingxuan’s icy and furious voice rang out.

Fu Chen’s dark eyes filled with intense killing intent. When they learned that Shen Mingxuan was the Zombie Emperor, they didn’t rush to kill him. There was still a trace of old feelings in their humanity.

Enemies who were at odds with each other shouldn’t have cherished past affections, especially when this enemy was hell-bent on taking his woman.

“Give her back to you?” Fu Chen’s tone was dangerous, tinged with hostility. “She’s not your possession.”

Shen Mingxuan roared in anger and disappeared in front of everyone’s eyes.

Fu Chen gently pushed Bai Qingqing aside and leaped into action as well. Thunderbolts shot across the sky, accompanied by various explosive sounds.

Liang Zhiyu said, “Qingqing, you and Bai Tiantian go on the car and leave.”

“Okay.” Qingqing pulled Bai Tiantian onto the car, started the engine, and headed towards the Jingzhou base to make their escape.

The three strongest human experts in the apocalypse confronted the Zombie Emperor and his subordinates. This battle would destroy everything within dozens of miles, causing a tremendous upheaval.

Shen Mingxuan, seeing the departing car, unwillingly went after them in a frenzy. A thunderbolt tore through space, fiercely striking toward him. He didn’t hesitate and made no attempt to dodge, feeling the intense pain in his arm.

He turned his head back with a cold expression, revealing a particularly ferocious appearance with his exposed fangs.

After driving dozens of miles away, Qingqing anxiously looked back at the scene. She felt a sense of urgency in her heart.

Bai Tiantian crossed her hands in front of her chest, her expression also filled with worry, silently praying that they would be safe.

Time passed second by second, and a raven flew across the sky, emitting an eerie cry. The wilderness was devoid of any humans, and the sound of explosions continued to resonate from a distance, with smoke rising into the air.

Several hours later, a car approached from a distance. Bai Qingqing got out of the car and approached, peering through the car window anxiously. She asked urgently, “How are you all? What about Shen Mingxuan?”

Cheng Rui lay motionless on the back seat, while Liang Zhiyu, in the driver’s seat, had a gentle face stained with blood, appearing weak and pale. Fu Chen, in the driver’s seat, also had blood stains on his face and body.

Bai Qingqing went around and asked with red eyes, “Are you injured too?”

Fu Chen leaned out of the car window, cupping her face with his hands, and fiercely kissed her. After a moment, he breathed heavily and said, “I’m fine. You and Bai Tiantian get in the car. Let’s go back to the base first.”

Bai Qingqing opened the back seat door and squeezed in with Bai Tiantian. The car sped off towards the base.

Fu Chen had been driving for a day and a night before returning to the base.

The doctors from the base quickly arrived at the Fu family’s residence. Cheng Rui had a fractured arm bone, and if they had come any later, it might have been crippled. Liang Zhiyu was in slightly better condition, merely weakened due to the exhaustion of his powers.

All three men had suffered injuries of varying degrees and were lying on the hospital beds without exception. The doctors advised them to rest for at least a week.

When Xiao Yang heard that they were injured and came to visit, seeing that they were not in serious danger, he couldn’t help but laugh with schadenfreude. “Take good care of your injuries and don’t even think about getting out of bed.”

For Fu Chen, lying in bed was torture. The worst part was that Qingqing had only visited him once.

After not seeing Qingqing for more than half a month, Xiao Yang was practically dying to see her. He pestered her every day and proudly announced in front of them, “I’m taking Qingqing home to meet my parents tomorrow.”
