TVFCATEOD Chapter 109

Oh dear, she accidentally went too far with her playfulness.

Bai Qingqing thought to herself, if this were before, Fu Chen Jun would probably choke her or pinch her chin to get rid of this bad influence on his mood.

“Brother~” she elongated her voice, sweet and coquettish with a hint of playfulness, “Don’t be angry, okay?”

Fu Chenjun chuckled and said, “I’ll teach you a lesson when we get back.”

Bai Qingqing looked at the slow-moving man and thought, teach me a lesson? Look at how you walk, you should go back and rest.

Of course, she wouldn’t dare say this in front of him, afraid of upsetting him. Seeing him injured and weak, she felt sorry for him.

The hospital was not close to where they lived. In order to avoid her running back and forth, Fu Chenjun moved back home that night to recuperate. With limited mobility, he needed a caregiver. His assistant was scolded a few times for not taking good care of him, and he felt frustrated. Fu Chenjun used to be much easier to serve.

Fu Chenjun had a solitary and sinister personality. In the past, even if he was injured during training or combat, he would lick his wounds like a lonely wolf and reject any kind gestures.

This time, they had fought a lot with the zombies and sustained several injuries, not too serious but still requiring some care.

The assistant saw Fu Chenjun staring at Bai Qingqing and immediately understood what he needed was not an assistant but a girlfriend.

The assistant pretended to be wronged, saying that he didn’t pay enough attention and asked Bai Qingqing for help in applying medicine and cleaning his wounds. She agreed, thinking that it was just applying medicine and cleaning, something she was quite skilled at.

The man had injuries on his shoulders, back, and inner thighs. The gruesome wounds looked terrifying, and she applied a dollop of ointment and gently wiped them, her expression serious, her eyes filled with tenderness and concern.

Fu Chenjun tilted his head, his deep gaze fixed on her.

The girl’s beautiful face showed a worried expression, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, revealing her deep concern for him. Her movements were gentle and careful. Seeing her like this, the pain in his wounds seemed to diminish.

With nothing to do for the day, Bai Qingqing stayed by his side. When he rested, she played on her phone, and occasionally, when she felt like it, she would read him stories.

Sunlight streamed in from the window, casting a faint and gentle halo on the girl. In that dazzling and enchanting light, the girl’s figure seemed ethereal, as if she could disappear at any moment.

Fu Chenjun suddenly reached out and grabbed her slender wrist, holding it tightly as if he wanted to forcefully keep her by his side.

Bai Qingqing was in the middle of reading a cheesy storyline and her arm was suddenly gripped tightly, causing her to frown in pain. She looked at him puzzled and said, “What are you doing? It’s just the female lead dying and the male lead coughing up blood. Is there a need to get so excited?”

Fu Chenjun’s gaze trembled slightly, and seeing her displeased expression, he slowly released his grip. “What?”

She loved reading those cheesy stories where an overbearing CEO falls in love with her, but he didn’t like listening to them. Yet, he never stopped her, indulging her mischievousness. She read for a while, but in reality, he wasn’t listening at all.

Bai Qingqing gave him a blank look. “You weren’t listening at all, were you?”

Fu Chenjun immediately changed the subject. “Help me up.”

Bai Qingqing put down the book and helped him get out of bed. “Where are you going?”

Fu Chenjun replied, “To the bathroom.”

Bai Qingqing held his hand stiffly, hesitantly saying, “You need to go to the toilet? Should I call a caregiver to help you take off your pants?”

A few days ago, Fu Chenjun forced himself to go to the Xiao family, acting strong and active, and as a result, his wounds reopened. He was in pain and unable to move on the bed, and the doctor scolded him for not taking his body seriously.

As a result, she also learned that for the past year, Fu Chenjun had disregarded his own body and let those research doctors treat him like a test subject. Several times, he almost couldn’t wake up due to the side effects of the medication.

The so-called fake death, he almost died for real.

Before, when Bai Qingqing took care of the zombie, she had undressed him. At that time, she treated him as a human-shaped pet, and she didn’t have much shame. But Fu Chenjun was different. Honestly, she had never seen his body before.

Taking off pants is such an intimate act, and she couldn’t handle it.

Fu Chenjun held her hand and didn’t let go. “It will take time for the caregiver to come.”

“Then, I… I…” Bai Qingqing’s cheeks turned hot, and she couldn’t articulate her nervous words clearly.

“No need for you to take off my pants,” Fu Chenjun sighed. When he teased her, she wasn’t this shy. That gentle and watery look on her face really made him desire to possess her.

Bai Qingqing supported him into the bathroom and took a quick glance at the man leaning against the wall, then hurriedly slipped out.

In the bathroom, Fu Chenjun tried to calm down his impure thoughts. After taking care of his business, he rinsed his hands and opened the door for her to support him.

The man leaned half of his body on her, and Bai Qingqing was slightly out of breath from exhaustion. Her cheeks were flushed like ripe peaches, tempting and enticing. Unable to resist, he leaned over and kissed her.

Bai Qingqing was momentarily stunned and helped him onto the bed. “Why did you suddenly kiss me?”

“I wanted to because you looked cute,” Fu Chenjun replied matter-of-factly.

Bai Qingqing joked with him, “Kissing me comes with a fee.”

Fu Chenjun stared at her beautiful face and said in a low voice, “What I want to do is more than just kissing you.”

Bai Qingqing understood the implications of his words and her heart raced. Feeling a bit shy, she pouted and said, “You better focus on healing your injuries first.”

After saying that, she felt like there might be some ambiguity and hastily got up. “I’m going out to get some fresh air.”

She ran away.

Fu Chenjun watched her retreating figure, his gaze gradually becoming deep.

During the recovery period, Fu Chenjun experienced a mixture of sweetness and pain. Imagine having a delicious dish placed in front of you but being unable to touch it. It was suffocating.

Fortunately, after nearly two months, Fu Chenjun’s injuries had mostly healed, and with one more month of avoiding excessive exercise, he would fully recover.

During the time he was recovering, Fu Chenjun didn’t attend to any official matters. After his injuries healed, he handled all the accumulated tasks and then freed up time to accompany Bai Qingqing.

Jingzhou was the first survivor base to be established. In just over two months since Bai Qingqing arrived in Jingzhou, she had experienced many things and hadn’t had the chance to explore the base properly. She wasn’t very familiar with Jingzhou.

Fu Chenjun took a day off and drove her to some ancient streets during the day. Those were the places he used to live, and now she came into his world, seeing the scenery he had seen and the places where he grew up. It gave her a strange and subtle feeling.

The more she immersed herself in this world, the more real it felt. Each person had their own life, not just brainless and shallow characters in a book.

Bai Qingqing was happily strolling around, enjoying the food. They happened to come across a lantern market, where various lanterns were particularly beautiful. She had never bought this kind of lantern before and was excitedly looking around.

Fu Chenjun walked behind her, like an adult playing with his own child, his gaze following her every move.

He liked her carefree and relaxed state. In front of him, she didn’t need to pretend. She could be herself and do whatever she wanted. The more he doted on her, the more delicate she became.

As they continued to stroll, Fu Chenjun glanced at her back, then stood in front of a shop and bought a delicate pink bunny lantern. She had lingered over that lantern the longest, so he was certain she would like it.

The shop owner happily handed it to him and asked, “Is it for your girlfriend?”

“Hmm,” Fu Chenjun nodded faintly, carrying the lantern to find her.

When Bai Qingqing came out of the lantern market, she didn’t see Fu Chenjun nearby. She turned around and saw him walking towards her from the dim lights, holding a lantern in his hand. It gave her a fleeting feeling as if he were a gentleman who had come from another era.

She had often imagined in her mind that she hoped there would be someone who could laugh and play with her, someone who would give her lots and lots of love.

Fu Chenjun fulfilled all her fantasies.

Her blurred vision gradually cleared, and he approached her, holding the lantern. “Let’s go.”

“Where are we going?” Bai Qingqing regained her senses and asked.

Fu Chenjun drove her to the wall of the Jingzhou base. When the soldiers guarding the gate saw his car, they immediately made way for him.

Due to the presence of zombies outside the base, the entire wall was almost pitch black at night, with very few lights. However, standing on the towering wall, one could overlook the base’s interior, which was adorned with beautiful scenes resembling the twinkling of stars.

The soldiers guarding the city needed to take the elevator from the inside, or slowly climb the stairs from the outside scenic road, just like climbing the Great Wall.

Qingqing was in high spirits, walking ahead while Fu Chenjun followed behind, holding a lantern to light her way, his gaze filled with doting.

They rushed all the way to the top of the wall. Qingqing stood with her hands on her waist, feeling truly exhilarated. The cool night breeze made her feel as if she could fly.

Fu Chenjun stood beside her, holding the lantern and looking at her with a fond expression. “Do you like it here?”

“Yes, I do,” Qingqing said as she looked at the myriad lights within the walled city. She continued, “If it weren’t for the apocalypse, the city would be even more lively at night.”

Fu Chenjun’s eyes grew deep, and he gazed into the distance alongside her.

Qingqing expressed her thoughts, “Outside the base, there is scorched earth everywhere, and the rivers are foul-smelling. In a few years, there might not be clean water left in the world. How will humanity survive?”

Fu Chenjun replied, “No matter how difficult the post-apocalyptic environment is, there will be a solution someday.”

Qingqing turned to look at him, her eyes clear and determined. She said, “I believe you can make it happen.”

She smiled and said, “We will eventually welcome that day, with flowers blooming all over the mountains, clear rivers, and humanity rebuilding a beautiful home.”

The cool night breeze gently brushed her hair as her glossy black locks swayed. The beautiful smile on the girl’s face under the cold moonlight was deeply imprinted in his memory, and his breath stopped for a moment.

“Qingqing,” Fu Chenjun suddenly called her name, his voice deep. He said, “I’m giving you both the base and myself. Will you stay by my side?”

Qingqing was stunned.

Fu Chenjun suddenly took out a ring and placed the pink bunny lantern next to it. He knelt down on one knee in front of her, his gaze intense, and pleaded, “Please say yes.”

She was like the wind, enticing but impossible to cage. He wanted to confine her by the name of love, keeping her by his side.

Qingqing’s heart pounded like thunder, feeling both bewildered and thrilled.

Fu Chenjun spoke with the sincerest tone of his life, “No matter what the future holds, Qingqing, you are the future I desire.”

Qingqing placed her hand on her chest, feeling the seed that had long been buried suddenly sprout and fill her heart. The sweet yet bittersweet sensation made her tremble involuntarily. Could she give him the future he wanted?
