MDMSC Chapter 24

Taking Advantage of Her

The two of them held that position and looked at each other.

Fang Anyu raised his hand, about to support the back of Jun Yueyue’s head, but Jun Yueyue immediately turned her head away. She coughed and looked out of the window, her neck turning red.

Fang Anyu’s hand grasped empty air. He quickly lowered it and also looked out of the window on the other side. Slowly, he bit his lip. The roots of his ears were a little red too, and the palm holding his phone had started to sweat.

The two of them looked like they had both turned their heads away, but in reality, they were still sitting close together. Their touching shoulders, arms, and even fingertips had not separated.

The driver knew that the eldest miss’s husband was deaf and mute. But the eldest miss, who had such a bad temper, actually got along with him very harmoniously. They really looked like a good match.

The small town was not big. Soon, the car arrived near the bus station. Jun Yueyue looked at the sign for the self-service barbecue restaurant, then at the hotel sign above it, and felt rather speechless. However, there were also clothing shops along this row of storefronts, which did satisfy their current needs. In a place like this small town, this probably counted as quite good.

For Fang Anyu, as long as he was not staying at home, anywhere was fine. Jun Yueyue had brought him out in the first place, so she was not picky about the location. She only told the driver not to wait for them and to go back first. Then she and Fang Anyu held the umbrella and ran toward one of the clothing shops on the first floor.

The two of them bought trousers in the small shop and changed into them. Then they went to another shop to buy Fang Anyu shoes. Their clothes were already the same pale blue colour, and now they had bought the same trousers too. Although the trousers did not really match the tops, they looked even more like couple outfits.

Following the signs, the two went from a shop up to the second floor and successfully found the self-service barbecue restaurant.

There were actually people inside in this kind of weather. The sign outside was quite big, but the space inside was really not large. It was 39.9 yuan per person. Jun Yueyue took Fang Anyu around inside and saw that the ingredients were still fairly fresh. Only then did she pay the deposit and find a table by the window to sit down.

At noon, Jun Yueyue had not eaten her fill either. Mainly, she had later been scared into no longer feeling hungry by what Old Master Jun had said. Now that she saw food, her mouth began to water madly.

To be honest, something like barbecue was really all about the dipping sauce, but this place did not have a complete selection, so it was honestly not that tasty.

But it could not be helped when the person sitting opposite you ate everything with special relish. He could lead you into unconsciously eating too much as well.

By the time Jun Yueyue stopped Fang Anyu, both of them were stuffed to the point of discomfort. After paying the bill, she asked the cashier at the counter and only then found out that the hotel upstairs could be reached through the back door.

They were full, and it was raining so heavily. When they came, they had already sent the driver away, so they had no intention of going back.

Jun Yueyue had brought Fang Anyu out precisely to be rebellious, to make Old Master Jun wake up a little, and to show in passing how deeply attached she was to Fang Anyu. Anyway, as long as Old Master Jun did not give her money, divorce was impossible.

The two of them went through the back door of the barbecue restaurant, carrying the umbrella, and followed the signs up to the third floor. When they opened a room at the front desk, Jun Yueyue took out her ID card and handed it over, but the other party also wanted Fang Anyu’s.

For something like opening a room, one person’s ID card was usually enough, especially in a small town like this. But the young woman said that recently, a fugitive had appeared nearby, so checks were stricter.

Fang Anyu had not brought his ID card and looked anxiously at Jun Yueyue.

During the apocalypse, Jun Yueyue had spent every day mixing with men, and the things she had heard most were all kinds of dirty jokes, as well as the tacit secrets between men.

Jun Yueyue remembered something one of those men had once said. She blinked and smiled meaningfully at the young woman.

“I picked him from over there. You still need an ID card?”

She remembered that the man had once said that hotels near places like bus stations and train stations usually had that kind of service. Of course, the service providers were mostly women, and most of the time, they stuffed little cards under doors in the dead of night. If someone asked for them, they would just show their face at the front desk and go straight in.

This young woman had worked as a cashier here for some time. She basically knew all the people from “over there.” Of course, there were men too, but only two of them. Fang Anyu really looked unfamiliar to her.

Besides, looking at Jun Yueyue, with a face like hers, did she still need to find someone from over there?

And someone who looked like this man—did he even need to come out and do this kind of work?

The young woman looked at the two of them in disbelief. Jun Yueyue had originally only been gambling. She had merely heard those men mention it once. But seeing the young woman’s expression, she knew there really was such a thing.

So Jun Yueyue simply continued, “He looks good, right? He’s deaf and mute. Be flexible, would you? Whatever money is left from the room deposit when we check out, I’ll give it to you as a tip.”

After Jun Yueyue said this, the young woman hesitated. She glanced at Jun Yueyue’s deposit and was a little tempted. In the end, she really did give the room card to the two of them.

With a rather complicated mood, Jun Yueyue took Fang Anyu upstairs. They found the room number and swiped the card to enter.

It was her first time opening a room in her life. She had not expected it to be with a little fool. The room was fairly clean. Once the room card was inserted into the slot by the door, the lights in the room turned on.

It had been raining outside the entire time, so the room was rather dim. Jun Yueyue simply did not turn the lights off. She found disposable slippers, and after the two of them changed into them, they lay down on the bed together, very synchronously touching their round, overstuffed bellies.

Then they turned their heads to look at each other and at the same time reached out to touch each other’s stomachs.

Mm. Neither was small.

Jun Yueyue giggled. This feeling of eating and drinking one’s fill, then finding a place to curl up, was really nice. Especially when there was someone beside her who was just as round and stuffed as she was.

The corners of Fang Anyu’s mouth curved too. He rarely smiled. When he was little, Fang Anyu had liked smiling too. But once, he read in a book that a fool was someone who could not speak and would still smile even when others scolded him.

From then on, Fang Anyu began controlling himself so that he would not smile for no reason. Although he was not stupid, he could not hear what others said. If someone scolded him and he was still smiling, then he would become a fool and lose face.

He used every method he could to make himself look normal and not troublesome. After a long time, he habitually stopped smiling. When he was happy, he more often widened his eyes.

But when he was with Jun Yueyue, Fang Anyu was happy from the bottom of his heart. He felt that the things he had experienced and the words he had spoken over these past few days were more wonderful than several years’ worth of life.

Also, Jun Yueyue loved to laugh too much. He had been influenced by Jun Yueyue and had recently started smiling often too.

But did Jun Yueyue really love to laugh? Back in the apocalypse, she had a nickname: zombie face. After mutating into that state, if she did not smile, she could barely be considered cool. But once she smiled, she looked genuinely stupid.

She looked like King Kong Barbie and always had a cold face. That was the direct reason why even among people who could not get enough to eat, very few tried to seduce her.

It was just that when she was with Fang Anyu, even she did not know what she was giggling about all day.

The two of them lay on the bed holding their stomachs. They shared one pillow, lying head-to-head and body-to-body. For a long time, neither of them spoke, yet there was not the slightest awkwardness or boredom. Outside, the rain was so heavy that it seemed as if the sky had sprung a leak, giving people the feeling that the end of the world was about to arrive.

Jun Yueyue vaguely thought that in her previous life, before the apocalypse, it had also seemed to rain like this especially often…

Jun Yueyue closed her eyes, cutting off her wandering thoughts, and felt the warmth of the body beside her being transmitted through their touching arms.

Fang Anyu actually gave Jun Yueyue a sense of security she had never felt before.

This was very strange. Fang Anyu could not speak or hear. He could not fight. Anyone could bully him. He was the person least likely to give anyone a sense of security. But simply lying there quietly, he was so warm and peaceful that Jun Yueyue grew drowsy.

Fang Anyu also felt especially, especially happy. He had never been this happy before. When he was little, Anyan would take him out to play, but because he could not speak and could not hear, he could not participate in many games. When he grew a little older, Anyan made many friends. When he took Fang Anyu out, he was always unable to look after him properly, so Fang Anyu consciously stopped following him out.

His mother and father also spent time with him, but they rarely communicated with him. It was indeed much harder to communicate with Fang Anyu before. Even family members did not have the patience to wait one or two hours just to say one sentence to him.

Before the person beside him appeared, Anyan was the one who spent the most time with him, and also the one willing to patiently communicate with him despite the difficulty.

Fang Anyu had always understood his family. After all, even he disliked himself. Who would be willing to be with someone like him?

But only now did Fang Anyu know that there really could be someone willing to talk to him so patiently, to spend very long periods of time accompanying him, helping him train over and over, tirelessly taking him to try all kinds of new things…

He liked the person beside him so much. Even though she had been fierce to him and bullied him before, Fang Anyu still liked her so much. Fang Anyu hoped she would not change back to how she had been before. If only she could always stay by his side like this…

Thinking of Jun Yueyue saying that they would not divorce for the time being, the corners of Fang Anyu’s mouth lifted again.

When the time came, if he refused that money and asked to keep staying with her, even if they divorced, would she agree?

Fang Anyu turned his head to look at Jun Yueyue’s side profile. Slowly, he moved a little closer and pressed his lips to her cheek. His dimple deepened, like it held a pool of intoxicating wine.

Jun Yueyue’s breathing lengthened. She did not feel anyone taking advantage of her. She had already fallen asleep.

Fang Anyu also kept that position of kissing Jun Yueyue and soon fell asleep.

Outside, the rain poured so heavily the sky and earth seemed dark. Inside, the two of them slept until they could no longer tell day from night.

Jun Yueyue’s phone had been on vibrate the whole time. Fang Anyu had bought a new phone, and Fang Anyan had not yet had time to save his number.

Jun Yueyue’s phone kept buzzing, but the sound was too light. It was not even as loud as the rain outside, so she did not hear it at all.

By the time the two of them woke up, it was already past ten at night. Jun Yueyue climbed up groggily, picked up her phone, glanced at the time, and let out a huge yawn.

Twelve missed calls. Eight from Fang Anyan, and the rest from Jun Yu?

She reached out and pushed Fang Anyu, who was still asleep, while considering whether she should call back.

After thinking about it, she decided to forget it. It was definitely Old Master Jun telling Jun Yu to call her. She would ignore it for now and talk about it when she went back tomorrow.

Fang Anyu was quickly pushed awake by Jun Yueyue. He sat up rubbing his eyes. Jun Yueyue pointed the time on the phone out to him. Fang Anyu widened his eyes, grabbed his phone, and sent her a message: It’s this late. Are we not going back?

Jun Yueyue held down the voice button. “We’re not going back tonight. We’ll stay here.”

Fang Anyu sent another message: But Anyan will worry.

“It’s fine,” Jun Yueyue said. “I’ll call him back in a while. You’re such a grown person. Why does he still protect you like an old mother hen?”

Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue’s words. After reacting for a while, a small smile appeared. Jun Yueyue reached out and poked his dimple, digging at it with her finger as she said sincerely, “You look really good when you smile.”

She did not say this into her phone, but directly to Fang Anyu. Fang Anyu’s hair was messy from sleep, but he really was good-looking. There was a kind of dishevelled beauty to him. If one had to make a comparison, he looked like someone who had just been thoroughly ravaged.

When it was not a specific scene like this, Fang Anyu could not understand what Jun Yueyue had said. Since he did not understand, he asked: What are you saying?

Jun Yueyue smiled and held down the voice button. “I said, we’ve probably digested enough, right? The rain outside has stopped. Let’s order some midnight snacks.”

Fang Anyu was naturally full of enthusiasm toward ordering midnight snacks, but he felt something was not quite right. Although he had not understood what Jun Yueyue said just now, it had clearly only been a few words…

However, Fang Anyu did not ask again. He was attracted by the food delivery app Jun Yueyue had just downloaded onto his phone. It was full of all kinds of food.

In the end, the two of them ordered grilled skewers. This shop was the closest. Ordering skewers came with free beer. After placing the order, the two of them went separately to wash up. The toiletries they used were all brand new. Although the quality was not very good, they could still make do with them.

While Fang Anyu was still showering, the delivery arrived. Jun Yueyue wrapped herself in a bathrobe and opened the door a little, reaching out to take the bag. But because they had ordered too much, and there was beer too, the bag tore as they were handing it over—

Bang!

The beer fell to the ground. The canned beer burst open directly. Jun Yueyue dodged backward, and the door opened a little wider. The delivery man was not wearing delivery uniform at all. He was dragging around in a pair of flip-flops, with an apron tied around his waist. Clearly, in this kind of weather, no delivery rider had accepted the order. The person in front of her was either the owner or the person grilling the skewers…

A half-smoked cigarette hung from his mouth. The beer had smashed right by his feet and sprayed all over one of his legs. He cursed, “Fuck!”

He spat the cigarette from his mouth onto the ground, bent down, and picked up the beer. But the can was already broken, dripping beer everywhere. He lifted his face and said apologetically to Jun Yueyue, “Sorry about that. The beer’s gone. How about this? I’ll refund you five yuan. The weather’s fucking awful and I waded through water to get here. Running back and forth again would be too much trouble…”

Jun Yueyue held the bag of barbecue in her hand and stood by the half-open door. Her whole body seemed to have had its pressure points sealed. She stood completely motionless, staring at the man in front of her.

That cold, omnipresent fear once again began spreading from her spine. Everything around her seemed to become unreal.

A person from her previous life was once again standing truly and vividly in front of her, alive and talking to her. Jun Yueyue felt her breathing choke. She stood stiffly, completely unable to react.

Only this time, she did not behave as excitedly or as furiously as last time. Instead, there was another strange emotion. In her eyes, there was horror and disbelief, and even the tiniest bit of… nostalgia.

The man in front of her looked impatient, but he was forcibly suppressing his temper and speaking politely to someone. To Jun Yueyue, he was even more familiar than the enemy who had branded a deep hatred into her.

This person was the captain of the last team she had joined in her previous life—Lei Ze.

After the apocalypse, he had awakened a fire ability. He had a terrible temper, and because his level was low, his status in the base was not high either. But he was especially good to the people under him.

“Beauty? Hey, beauty!” The man rubbed his dirty apron somewhat impatiently. His face was clearly full of irritation, but his speaking attitude was still quite good. “Don’t just stand there. If you think five yuan for a can of beer isn’t enough, then I’ll go back down and make another trip. You wait a while and eat the skewers first, alright?”

But Jun Yueyue was still frozen, staring straight at the man in front of her. The man was a little creeped out by her stare. His brows furrowed. He rummaged in his pocket and pulled out a wad of crumpled money. With his greasy hand, he tugged out a ten-yuan note and directly stuffed it onto the plastic bag Jun Yueyue was holding.

“Miss, don’t pull a long face. Ten yuan, alright? I still have a bunch of skewers grilling tonight…” After saying this, he clenched the money in his hand and stuffed it back into his pocket. Then, carrying the almost-empty beer can, he dragged his flip-flops and turned to leave.

Jun Yueyue stared fixedly at his back. Even after he went downstairs, her gaze remained fixed on the place where he had disappeared.

What exactly was going on?

Why did she keep running into people from her previous life? Even scenes that were the same as in her previous life…

If that kid surnamed Jiang had only been a coincidence, only happened to have a face exactly like her enemy’s, then what about the man just now?

Jun Yueyue’s gaze had not left him for even a moment just now. His movements, expression, and voice—Jun Yueyue had followed him through life and death so many times. There was absolutely no way she would mistake him for someone else!

Why were these people appearing in this novel world?

And it was normal that they did not recognise her, because she had already changed bodies.

But they did not even look like they had experienced the apocalypse at all. Jun Yueyue remembered that in the apocalypse, her captain Lei Ze had once been cut on the forehead by broken glass during a mission, leaving behind a large scar. That time, Jun Yueyue had gone on the mission with him. Blood had covered his whole face. Jun Yueyue remembered it very clearly.

But the person just now had a very smooth forehead, just like when Jun Yueyue had first met him. There was no scar from that mission at all.

These people with faces exactly the same as those from the apocalypse were like the most ordinary rich second generation and barbecue skewer seller in this world…

Jun Yueyue thought carefully. Lei Ze did not seem to have ever mentioned what he did before the apocalypse…

She stood at the doorway and once again sank into that boundless nightmare. Her arm ached from soreness, but she was still holding up the plastic bag, like a statue that did not know how to move, stiffly standing there for a long, long time.

Who knew how much time passed. Only when a pair of warm arms wrapped around her waist did Jun Yueyue seem to be burned. She was suddenly pulled out of the nightmare that had nearly swallowed her whole—
