Where are You Touching?!
Ning Yi absolutely refused to sleep with a snake in her tent. No way.
She despised cold, slithering reptiles. She could easily crack open a zombie’s skull, but the scales of a snake? No, thank you.
So, naturally, it was up to her husband to handle it. After all, Gu Cheng’s body wasn’t exactly fit to participate in such activities—this was a chance to make him feel included! ^_^
Gu Cheng stared at the snake for several long seconds, silently reflecting on his life choices.
He should never have asked her if she was afraid of sleeping alone.
Meanwhile, Ning Yi had already made her escape. Her mood was excellent as she sat in the villa, sipping Gu Cheng’s leftover tea. “Hubby, you’re so brave and amazing! I believe in you; you’re my hero!”
Gu Cheng didn’t reply. He was too busy processing how he’d gone from sipping tea to facing a snake in the blink of an eye. The lack of warning was almost as unsettling as the snake itself.
Now, Gu Cheng found himself roughly two or three meters away from the creature. The best course of action in such close proximity? Stay still. Most snakes wouldn’t attack unless provoked.
Gu Cheng remained expressionless.
So did the snake.
The only ones truly losing their composure were the viewers.
Thanks to her wild and standout behaviour during the day, Ning Yi had been given her own dedicated livestream feed. All eyes were on her, waiting to see what would happen next.
The chat exploded with confusion and curiosity:
[What’s going on? Did something happen?]
[Why is she just standing there?]
Meanwhile, Ning Yi checked in with the last ounce of her conscience, asking sweetly, “Hubby, how are you planning to handle this?”
Gu Cheng continued his silent standoff with the snake, watching as it coiled itself into a comfortable position, seemingly preparing to sleep.
Gu Cheng: “…”
Why did it get to sleep?
The suspense was driving viewers crazy. Everyone was desperate to know what was going on in Ning Yi’s tent.
Then, they saw her calmly walk out and approach the event staff. With her signature icy composure, she stated, “There’s a snake in my tent.”
The chat erupted with laughter:
[The fearless zombie slayer is afraid of snakes?!]
[This makes her even more adorable, honestly.]
The organizers, however, didn’t find it funny. Zombies were scary but controlled. Snakes, on the other hand, were unpredictable. These participants were all rich heirs and heiresses—if something happened to any of them, the organizers couldn’t afford to bear the responsibility.
And this wasn’t just any player. Ning Yi was Gu Cheng’s wife.
“Thank goodness it’s not Gu Cheng himself,” someone whispered nervously. “If it were, we’d be finished…”
Gu Cheng, sitting inside the tent: Handle it properly, or you really will be finished.
Finally, the organizers handed him a leek.
Gu Cheng: “?”
“One of the locals said the occasional small snake might show up, but they’re usually harmless. The smell of leek is strong and might drive it away.”
Gu Cheng: …Fine.
When Ning Yi saw Gu Cheng on TV, holding a leek with his trademark cold expression as he dealt with the snake, her heart was filled with both pity and uncontrollable laughter.
“HAHAHAHA!”
Gu Cheng, holding the leek: “Shut up.”
The sheer absurdity of his life could be summed up in one word: wife.
The chat went wild:
[This is peak comedy! Armed with a leek!]
Thankfully, the leek worked. The snake slithered out of the tent, visibly put off by the strong smell.
Gu Cheng tossed the leek aside and meticulously wiped his hands with disinfectant wipes.
“The snake is gone,” he reported.
Ning Yi responded cheerfully, “Mhm, I knew you’d handle it like the champ you are!”
But there was no way she was going back to that tent.
“Hubby, I had so much fun camping today, but I felt bad knowing you didn’t get a chance to participate!” Ning Yi said as she settled into bed, putting on her sleep mask. “So, I’m leaving the rest to you. Have fun! I’ll cook something delicious for you tomorrow~”
Gu Cheng: Heh.
Cooking snake soup, perhaps?
—
Midnight.
The zombies were still roaming.
This was the one and only night of the game, and naturally, it wouldn’t be an easy one.
Across the entire camp, tension was palpable. Every player was on edge, wary of every noise.
“Did you notice? The zombies are starting to move faster than before.”
“Shh! Keep it down, or they’ll hear us…”
Clusters of players huddled together, trembling with fear.
As the terror of the night amplified, Ding Ziyue was brimming with excitement. Tonight would mark the turning point in her and Jiang Linyi’s blossoming relationship!
Amid the chaos, Jiang Linyi would valiantly shield her, becoming her knight in shining armour. He’d hold her tightly during their perilous escape!
Her cheeks flushed just thinking about it.
Meanwhile, other players joked nervously, trying to break the tension.
“Relax! NPCs will definitely target the loners first.”
“Hahaha, yeah. Wonder who that might be. Poor thing.”
“But seriously, Ning Yi’s been hiding all day. No way she makes it through the night.”
Ding Ziyue shook her head, a picture of kindness. “I just hope my little sister manages to hold out. I really look forward to seeing her tomorrow!”
She caught the glimmer of admiration in Jiang Linyi’s eyes and felt a swell of pride.
I’m protected, untouched by danger, and still beautiful! Even my makeup hasn’t smudged! Meanwhile, Ning Yi is probably filthy, scared, and hungry, cowering in some dark corner.
When Gu Cheng gives us the awards tomorrow, the stark contrast will be undeniable!
—
At the same time.
Gu Cheng lay in a slightly onion-scented sleeping bag in an open tent.
Thanks to Ning Yi’s resourcefulness, he was equipped with excellent gear: a warm sleeping bag, two layers of mats, and even a bottle of insect repellent spray. He generously sprayed it around to mask the lingering leek smell.
In the wilderness, surrounded by roaming zombies, Gu Cheng remained alert, unable to sleep.
Everything was quiet on Ning Yi’s end—she seemed to be resting peacefully.
So Gu Cheng decided to disturb her.
“Are you asleep, Ah Yi?”
“Already asleep?”
“Wake up.”
Back in her luxurious 2.5-meter bed, Ning Yi snapped her eyes open, seething. So loud!
What’s all the noise for?!
When their bodies had automatically swapped at midnight, Ning Yi had promptly returned to her bed to avoid spending another second in the snake-infested tent. Now, she’d finally drifted back to sleep, only to have her peace shattered by her husband’s incessant pestering.
“You’re awake?” Gu Cheng’s voice carried a hint of amusement.
“Hubby,” Ning Yi swallowed her annoyance and forced a coquettish tone, “just go to sleep, okay? I promise nothing dangerous will happen to you there!”
Her voice was soft and slightly drowsy, tinged with suppressed irritation. In the stillness of the night, it sounded vivid and endearing.
Gu Cheng’s lips curved upward as he folded his arms in the sleeping bag. “Oh? And how would you know, Ah Yi?”
Ning Yi yawned into her pillow, hugging it tight. “I just know. If you don’t believe me, step outside and see for yourself!”
Just stop whining already!
Gu Cheng, however, could faintly hear scuffling sounds outside.
He carefully sat up in the tent, fully dressed—prepared to leave at a moment’s notice, should the situation escalate.
Peeking out into the night, he saw movement. Figures were darting past, their speed picking up noticeably.
Back in the mountain hollow, Ding Ziyue’s group had inadvertently drawn a large crowd of zombies—ones Ning Yi had “optimized” earlier. These were truly terrifying zombies now: scarier sounds, more realistic movements, and an intimidating presence!
The entire camp descended into chaos.
“AAAHHH! THEY’RE COMING!!!”
“OH SH*T! RUN, RUN!”
No one dared to sleep anymore. In a panic, the group scrambled out of the hollow, but the zombies were everywhere. The dim light only added to the chaos, and several players were “bitten.”
“Ahhh! I’m out of here first!”
“Don’t push me!!”
After the stampede and confusion, they finally reached a safe zone free of zombies. Then came the dreaded broadcast announcements:
[Li Yanle, out.]
[Gu Zeyu, out.]
[…]
Hearing the long list of names, Wen Xiaoman frowned in confusion.
“Why haven’t we heard Ning Yi’s name yet?”
She’s still alive? How is she this good at hiding?
—
Gu Cheng had indeed heard movement outside his tent.
The dragging, shuffling sounds of zombies grew closer. He could discern there were at least two or three approaching.
After a brief consideration, he unzipped the tent, preparing to deal with the zombies and maybe even snatch a couple of their wristbands for points.
As the tent flap opened, he was greeted by a face covered in grotesque, rotting makeup smeared with fake blood.
The visual impact was… intense. Even Gu Cheng paused for a moment.
He had to admit, the makeup effects for this Gu-funded activity were surprisingly realistic.
Calmly, Gu Cheng prepared to face off with the zombies.
But the three zombies froze when they saw his face. The ominous “hiss-hiss-groan” sounds in their throats abruptly stopped.
Suddenly, the zombies clutched their wristbands protectively and gave a slight bow.
“Ma’am, please, carry on with your rest.”
Gu Cheng: “?”
Before he could process it, the three zombies turned tail and bolted, clutching their wristbands like treasures, as if terrified he might snatch them.
As they fled, they spread the word.
“She’s there! Don’t go near!”
“Let’s find someone else to bite!”
—
Gu Cheng stood there for a long moment, processing what had just happened. Finally, he calmly addressed Ning Yi.
“Ah Yi, what exactly did you do to them?”
Ning Yi had anticipated this result. Lazily turning over in her plush bed, she replied, “Hubby, that’s just my way of showing you some love.”
Take it, darling. Accept my affection.
Then she promptly added: “Shh.”
And pretended to sleep.
“ZzzZZ.”
Under the moonlight, Gu Cheng narrowed his dark eyes.
It seemed there was a lot about his wife… that he hadn’t noticed before.
He raised his hand to the light—more precisely, Ning Yi’s hand.
The skin was fair, the fingers long and slender, but upon closer inspection, there were faint calluses on the palm.
Were these from her time in the countryside as a child? Or from some other period in her life?
Gu Cheng had initially thought Ning Yi was an easily understood person—transparent, simple. But now he realized there was much more to her than met the eye.
The prolonged, involuntary body-swapping with her was beginning to feel like a significant security risk.
He needed to figure out the mechanics behind the swaps.
For instance… the handshake from the other day?
His black eyes deepened.
No emotion crossed his face.
This was purely pragmatic.
—
The chaotic, sleepless night finally ended.
Because the zombies didn’t dare approach Ning Yi, they went after Ding Ziyue’s group instead. The team spent the entire night running and hiding, barely managing two hours of restless sleep.
Meanwhile, two people got a good night’s sleep.
One was ‘Ning Yi’ in her tent.
The other was Ning Yi on her luxurious 2.5-meter bed.
The world where only Ning Yi remains unscathed: unlocked. √
Ning Yi didn’t sleep in the tent last night, and the quality of her rest was so excellent that even the tiny remnants of her conscience seemed to have reappeared.
She had promised Gu Cheng last night that she’d prepare him something delicious, and Ning Yi always kept her word!
“Hubby, just wait a moment. I’ve got a surprise for you! ^3^~” she said sweetly as they swapped bodies.
Gu Cheng wasn’t even remotely curious about her “surprise.”
—
Returning to the villa, Gu Cheng had barely descended the stairs when he ran into Gu Le, his younger brother, who had been eliminated within the first hour of the competition yesterday.
Gu Le yawned widely, looking entirely refreshed. “Morning, bro! Bet you slept great, huh?”
Gu Cheng, expressionless, stared at his waste-of-space younger brother.
While Gu Cheng had been left to endure a night in the tent thanks to Ning Yi, Gu Le—utterly useless as usual—had contributed absolutely nothing.
Gu Cheng’s gaze turned chilly. “When we get back, I’m shaving off your green hair.”
Gu Le was instantly awake. “Why, bro? QAQ!”
“Why are you picking on me!”
Gu Cheng didn’t bother to respond.
—
The housekeepers began setting the breakfast table, which was lavish compared to the basic provisions at the camp.
Before Gu Cheng could sit down, Ning Yi’s syrupy voice floated through the air.
“Hubby~ breakfast is ready! Come over and eat!”
She sounded like the perfect, gentle wife, full of love and care.
—That illusion, however, was shattered as soon as Gu Cheng realized she meant instant noodles in the wilderness for him while she indulged in a hearty breakfast back in the villa.
By the time Gu Cheng returned to the tent, he wasn’t even surprised anymore.
Ning Yi, meanwhile, cheerfully wheeled herself to the dining table. She stabbed a custard bun with her fork, savouring its sweet, creamy filling while a bowl of fragrant pork dumplings steamed at her side.
“Hubby, I know you dislike greasy or heavy food, and you’re not into spicy flavours. So I made you a special dish: plain noodle soup, paired with a vintage 2022 cola.”
Gu Cheng glanced at the steaming hot pot in front of him. The simple iron pot boiled with a bare-bones broth.
In Gu Cheng’s world, this was the first time he’d encountered such a “rustic” breakfast.
Ning Yi, sipping her warm soup, continued her exaggerated performance. “Hubby, make sure to finish it all~ Every single noodle is infused with my love for you~”
Gu Cheng didn’t bother replying. He silently picked up the chopsticks and ate the entire thing.
—
Viewers were already awake, eager to tune in to the final day’s drama on the CMore platform.
[Wow, Ning Yi woke up looking so stunning!]
[Even sitting in front of a pot of instant noodles, she’s adorable.]
Meanwhile, Gu Cheng calmly finished the bowl of noodles Ning Yi had made. No zombies came to bother him the entire time. After eating, he checked Ning Yi’s stock of supplies. She had plenty of food and water and seemed to be in good shape.
Slipping on her backpack, Gu Cheng wandered off in another direction. Along the way, he stumbled across two young men eating breakfast under a tree.
Both were wealthy young heirs, but at this moment, they looked a little pitiful. Each held a small pack of dry, compressed biscuits and a bottle of cold water.
Yet, when they saw “Ning Yi” approaching, they became immediately defensive, clutching their biscuits like their lives depended on it, clearly afraid he might beg for their food.
Gu Cheng: “.”
An inexplicable sense of superiority bloomed in his heart.
It was astounding that a simple bowl of instant noodles could deliver such satisfaction.
—
Further down the path, Gu Cheng spotted a group of people in the distance.
It was Ding Ziyue and her entourage, about ten people huddled around two zombie NPCs.
In the middle of the group, Jiang Linyi—the movie star—was playing the role of Ding Ziyue’s devoted knight. With great effort, he managed to snatch two wristbands from the zombies. Under the envious gazes of everyone around, he extended his hand to present them to Ding Ziyue.
Ding Ziyue covered her mouth dramatically. “Lin Yi-ge, are you really giving these to me? You’re too good to me!”
“Wow, I’m so jealous! Ziyue, you must have a ton of wristbands by now, right?”
“I don’t even have one, ugh!”
“At this rate, Ziyue’s definitely going to win first place and get her award from Eldest Young Master Gu himself. I’m so jealous!”
Gu Cheng casually reached into Ning Yi’s pocket.
A whole handful of wristbands jingled softly.
She had so many that he couldn’t even count them all.
At that moment, Gu Cheng tilted his head back at a 45-degree angle, gazing up into the sky.
A strange, inexplicable sense of pride enveloped Gu Cheng.
It was…
Quite satisfying.
—
After finishing her lavish breakfast, Ning Yi swapped bodies with Gu Cheng again.
After all, Eldest Young Master Gu had a mountain of work to handle. If she stayed any longer, she might have to deal with his workload, and that was unacceptable without extra pay.
Back in her body, Ning Yi could continue earning money in her carefree style.
Earlier, Gu Cheng hadn’t deliberately avoided Ding Ziyue’s group, and now the two parties finally crossed paths.
CMore’s platform buzzed with anticipation:
[Ning Yi has finally run into the main group, hahaha!]
[I can’t wait to see Ning Yi and the others team up to fight zombies!]
[I’m dying to see their reactions when they witness Ning Yi’s combat skills!]
—
When Ding Ziyue saw Ning Yi, she froze in shock.
Not just her—everyone was taken aback. Ning Yi didn’t look the slightest bit dishevelled. The expected image of a haggard, starving, and sleep-deprived woman was nowhere to be found.
Instead, Ning Yi appeared radiant, composed, and well-rested—an absolute contrast to the group.
—How was this possible?!
Even Ding Ziyue, who had spent last night nestled in Jiang Linyi’s protective embrace (her heart fluttering with excitement), had only managed to sleep for an hour or two. Early this morning, she’d secretly reapplied makeup to cover her dark circles. Yet Ning Yi, bare-faced, looked so refreshed and vibrant?!
Could someone have been protecting Ning Yi? Who?!
—
Beside her, Wen Xiaoman scanned Ning Yi up and down, her tone sour and envious. “Where did you hide? You look like you’ve been having a good time.”
Ning Yi smiled faintly. “It seems you didn’t hide very well yourself?”
Wen Xiaoman’s face stiffened, and she instinctively pulled her sleeve to cover the dirt stains she had accumulated while running for her life.
—
At that moment, the organizers gave a warm reminder to all players:
“Today is the final day of the game. Ten wristbands remain on the field. Zombie movement speed will now be at its peak!”
What they didn’t announce was that with fewer than 30 players left in the field and nearly 100 zombie NPCs, the odds were overwhelmingly stacked.
This was no longer a competition but a hunt.
For every gentleman stepping up to protect a lady, it would mean taking on at least six zombies simultaneously.
The organizers were thrilled. The scene was intense, and the broadcast ratings were soaring. Surely, Eldest Young Master Gu would be pleased with the results!
[The show is about to get real!]
[Let’s gooo!
Ding Ziyue’s group, weary and famished after the last two days, could barely hold themselves together. Spoiled heirs and heiresses were not built for hunger and sleep deprivation. It showed.
Meanwhile, the zombies had no mercy. Now fully unleashed, they sprinted at full speed with terrifying intent, ready to take down as many players as possible.
“Ahhh! They’re coming from that side!”
“Don’t grab me! I can’t run anymore!”
In an instant, the hunting ground was thrown into chaos. Dozens of zombies charged at the players with a blood-curdling ferocity that made the scene feel like a genuine apocalypse.
In the mayhem, Ding Ziyue almost had both arms grabbed by two zombies. She was so frightened that she barely maintained her poised expression, her carefully applied makeup nearly smudged.
“Ziyue!” Jiang Linyi called, grabbing her and pulling her into his protective embrace.
Right next to her, Wen Xiaoman—left to fend for herself—was promptly sacrificed to the zombie onslaught.
The fleeting romantic moment brought tears to Ding Ziyue’s eyes.
—This… this is love that transcends fear and danger!
Wen Xiaoman: “What the hell?!”
So I’m just the cannon fodder for your romantic storyline, huh?!
Off to the side, Ning Yi nearly burst out laughing. This is too much—I’m crying!
In these overly dramatic romance tales, the female lead always reigns supreme. Anyone associating with the male and female leads was bound to become collateral damage. Knowing her place as a proper cannon fodder, Ning Yi stayed far, far away from their melodramatic love story.
Wen Xiaoman glanced back at Ning Yi, only to notice something strange: the zombies got close to her but didn’t attack?! Instead, they turned around to chase someone else?!
Why?! How?!
Was it because she was pretty?!
Wen Xiaoman wasn’t just upset about being eliminated; her very soul had taken a hit.
In the midst of the chaos, Ning Yi stood unmoving, calm and composed.
Meanwhile, Gu Zeyu, who was being chased by four zombies at once, shouted as he ran: “Don’t hurt Ziyue! Bite me instead!”
Ning Yi clapped her hands, looking at the chaos. “Mhm, bite him, bite him hard!”
And, just as Gu Zeyu wished, he was pinned by four zombies and met a rather glorious demise.
Meanwhile, Ding Ziyue, who had been discreetly observing Ning Yi, was left utterly baffled. Ning Yi was watching the zombies attack with apparent interest?
How was she not scared?!
“She’s pretending,” Ding Ziyue thought, her expression darkening. It must be for the cameras! Ning Yi was surely forcing herself to maintain her composure just for the sake of appearances. What a conniving woman!
But Ding Ziyue couldn’t allow Ning Yi to steal all the spotlight.
Ning Yi was definitely trying to act brave to earn Gu Cheng’s recognition and that coveted first place! She was clearly trying to show off her supposed courage, and Ding Ziyue couldn’t let her have it all.
Clenching her teeth and swallowing her disgust, Ding Ziyue reached for the string on a zombie’s arm.
“Ziyue!—”
Jiang Linyi spotted a zombie charging at Ding Ziyue from behind, his eyes widening in alarm. “Careful!”
Without hesitation, Jiang Linyi leapt forward and pulled Ding Ziyue into his arms, shielding her with his body. In a dramatic twist befitting a romance novel, his shoulder was bitten by the zombie instead!
At that moment, he thought of neither his fans nor his career—his eyes held only Ding Ziyue.
It was a scene straight out of a melodrama, filled with anguish and romantic tragedy.
Ding Ziyue’s eyes filled with tears. ** sacrificed himself for me!
Jiang Linyi, pale and visibly pained, shook his head and whispered, “I’ll be fine. You… must get first place…”
Ding Ziyue, sobbing, nodded resolutely.
This time, she was certain—she would take first place! Gu Cheng himself would hand her the prize!
And right now, the whole world must be fawning over how sweet their love story was!
[Is this a battle between brainless romance and badass queen energy?]
[Ning Yi seems to exist in a completely different universe from these people, lol.]
Ning Yi, meanwhile, squatted down, calmly removed a string from a zombie’s wrist, and stuffed it into her pocket. She then glanced at the heart-wrenching embrace between Jiang Linyi and Ding Ziyue.
[This should’ve been heart-warming, but all I want to do is laugh.]
[Ning Yi’s expression says it all—]
Ning Yi: What kind of idiocy is this?
Still, thanks to the male and female lead’s tragic romance, Ning Yi was reluctantly pulled into the final round.
By this point, fewer than ten players remained.
This meant the zombie NPCs had no choice—they had to attack Ning Yi at some point. Otherwise, it would be way too obvious they were afraid of her.
[Let us welcome the queen to the final showdown!]
[Ning Yi! Ning Yi! Ning Yi!]
Standing in the crowd, Ding Ziyue radiated confidence. She would carry Jiang Linyi’s determination and shine as the most outstanding participant!
“Everyone, gather around me! Don’t be afraid; we’ll be fine!” she said confidently.
Trembling, the remaining participants clustered around Ding Ziyue.
Ding Ziyue, however, kept glancing at Ning Yi from the corner of her eye, only to see her casually pull out a bottle of AD calcium milk, pierce it with a straw, and start sipping.
Ding Ziyue: ??? What’s wrong with her brain?!
Finally, unable to hold back any longer, the zombies made their move. With righteous indignation, they charged at Ning Yi.
Still sipping her milk, Ning Yi’s sharp ears picked up on the sound of a zombie lunging at her from behind. She sidestepped effortlessly, swept a leg out to trip another zombie approaching from her right, and jammed her now-empty milk bottle into the arms of a third zombie rushing from the left.
Then, as a final flourish, she extended her hand to the zombie in front of her—precisely and skilfully gripping its lower jaw.
The entire sequence was seamless, swift, and utterly mesmerizing. Everyone, both on-site and watching the broadcast, was dumbfounded.
[AAAAHHH SHE’S SO COOL OMG!!!]
[Is this real? It’s like watching an action movie live!!]
The zombie held by its jaw flailed helplessly in the air, powerless to fight back.
But Ning Yi wasn’t showing off.
She frowned in disappointment and sighed. “What did I teach you yesterday, hmm?”
Everyone: ???
“You call that proper posture and sound effects?” Ning Yi scolded sternly, her tone entirely serious.
The surrounding players were completely stunned.
The zombie: QAQ
“Please, sis,” it whimpered softly. “Give me a break.”
The livestream’s chat exploded with laughter.
In the villa, Gu Cheng had just finished a meeting.
Leaning back in his chair, he casually glanced at the television screen—then suddenly sat up straighter, his dark eyes widening.
“Ning Yi, where the hell are your hands going?!”
For the first time in years, the composed CEO nearly stood up in shock.
