LLASBWUH Chapter 23

He Fainted!

Who’s jealous?

Ning Yi felt as if she had just been insulted.

But when she opened the black box and peeked inside, her face lit up with a faux, sugary smile.

“Oh, yes, husband! I just can’t bear to see you accepting gifts from other women! My heart aches—it’s unbearable!”

Gu Cheng’s lips were just about to curve into a smirk when Ning Yi added, with heartfelt intensity:

“—So I’ll help you keep it instead, okay?”

Inside the black box was a watch—conservative estimate, at least worth a million. Meanwhile, she was sure her gift wasn’t anywhere near as valuable.

Oh, jackpot!

Gu Cheng’s expression immediately flattened. “…”

This woman only cared about money.

Whatever amusement he’d felt moments ago disappeared entirely.

Unbothered by his lack of reaction, Ning Yi’s tone turned genuinely affectionate as she hugged the gift closer. “Husband, I love you so much, mwah mwah!”

Gu Cheng paused briefly at her words.

Sure, physical contact allowed for body swapping, but… kissing?

No way.

He’d never engage in something that intimate.

By the end of dinner, Ning Yi had made a neat million in “earnings” and was in an excellent mood.

She happily swapped their bodies back, leaving Gu Cheng to return to the company with his assistant.

Meanwhile, Wen Zheli lingered at the dining table, her expression tinged with melancholy.

Not a single word. Gu Cheng hadn’t spoken a single word to her. Was he really still resenting her?

She sighed inwardly. Back when Gu Cheng had been bedridden, there’d been no hope in sight. What was she supposed to do—give up her education and career?

Besides, wasn’t Ding Ziyue the same? She’d pushed the fiancée title away, only for Ning Yi to pick it up.

Neither of them could accept that.

After dinner, Wen Zheli and her family prepared to leave. In the corner of the living room, where the light was dim, Wen Zheli intercepted Ning Yi.

“Miss Ning.”

Having just pocketed an incredibly valuable gift, Ning Yi was in a good mood and responded politely, “Yes, what is it?”

Wen Zheli’s poised demeanour became more pronounced as she gave Ning Yi a thorough once-over, then smiled faintly.

“I must admit, I was impressed by how you untied that knot earlier. Clearly, you’ve made significant efforts to improve your knowledge beyond your natural scope. I trust you’ll attend the upcoming jewellery gala as well?”

Wow, Ning Yi thought. What a lot of words to deliver one jab. Cultural elites sure like to overcomplicate things.

Outwardly, though, she simply nodded. “Sure.”

In fact, not only had she already agreed to be a jewellery model for Song Lan, but the jewellery gala would also prominently feature CMore, the platform her team had built. Livestreams from influencers at the event would allow online viewers to purchase showcased pieces in real time.

This was proof that CMore was maturing rapidly. Its unique selling point was how many wealthy young heirs and heiresses used it to flaunt their lives—essentially a field of ripe, self-sowing money trees.

Incidentally, Ning Yi herself had personally approved Wen Zheli’s CMore account certification.

Wen Zheli wasn’t expecting Ning Yi to agree so readily. She gave her a quick look-over—dressed in casual, ordinary clothes—and smirked inwardly.

Someone of Ning Yi’s background probably didn’t even own a decent gown. Even if she wore one, her lack of grace would be glaringly obvious at such an elegant, high-class event.

“Well then, see you there.”

After issuing the invitation, Wen Zheli turned and left with a faint air of disdain.

Moments later, Ning Yi’s phone buzzed with a message from Ding Ziyue:

[Sister, I heard Wen Zheli visited the Gu family?]

[It’s okay, even though she has ulterior motives, didn’t you notice that when she met Brother Gu, he didn’t even recognize her anymore? 😂😂]

Ning Yi nearly laughed out loud.

The longer she spent in this over-the-top romance world, the funnier it became.

She could practically feel Ding Ziyue’s glee radiating through the screen. No doubt this titbit had already spread like wildfire—probably faster than even professional gossip bloggers could manage.

Ding Ziyue sent another message, casually shading Wen Zheli before turning her attention back to Ning Yi:

[So, sister, you absolutely *must* come to the jewellery gala in a few days~ I’m really looking forward to seeing you~]

In this part of the story, the original protagonist (the “original host”) and the female lead are starkly contrasted. The original host was tormented to the point of desperation, resorting to stealing jewellery from Song Lan. Meanwhile, the female lead, Ding Ziyue, is spoiled by Jiang Linyi. After their arguments, Jiang Linyi spares no expense to buy her extravagant diamonds, drawing envy from everyone. This over-the-top display of affection becomes a nationwide sensation, making Ding Ziyue the ultimate object of admiration.

Ding Ziyue has been eagerly anticipating this storyline moment for a long time.

Ning Yi casually closed her phone, thinking, See? One after another, they’re all inviting me to show up. This romance novel world just doesn’t work without me.

Because of Wen Zheli’s recent visit, Song Lan worried Ning Yi might feel self-conscious or insecure about her background. To address this, she thoughtfully prepared several luxurious haute couture dresses for Ning Yi to wear during the jewellery show.

The dresses were designed to highlight the jewellery being showcased, featuring elegant, open necklines that emphasized the shoulders and collarbones. Ning Yi, with her beautifully slender and sculpted neckline, seemed born to wear them. As she walked out in the most stunning gown, even the household staff blushed and quickly averted their eyes.

But Ning Yi? Completely unbothered.

She carried herself with a calm, composed demeanour, as if nothing in the world could faze her. Passing by a European-style full-length mirror in the hallway, she glanced at her reflection and couldn’t help but internally cheer herself on:

“Wow, I’m stunning! Absolute knockout!”

Later, back in her room, she discovered that her private chef had prepared a luxurious midnight snack: house-smoked salami, handcrafted almond cheese, and a glass of fine red wine.

“A beauty paired with fine wine—how intoxicatingly perfect!”

Her mood soared. And just the thought of wrangling her husband into buying her some massive diamonds at the gala made her even happier.

Meanwhile, in the Gu Corporation’s president’s office, Gu Cheng reviewed the financial reports compiled by his assistant.

The internet sector had always been one of his primary focuses. The rapid growth of CMore, backed by its stable core technology, was particularly noteworthy. Its multifaceted ecosystem had already caught the attention of several major capital investors.

As the largest player in the capital market, Gu Cheng was carefully evaluating the platform. The upcoming partnership with the jewellery gala would serve as another test of CMore’s operational capabilities.

Gu Cheng leaned forward, his fingers lightly tapping the desk.

Perhaps the day to meet the platform’s mysterious founder is approaching.

After finishing his work, Gu Cheng headed home.

On the way, his assistant asked, “Sir, for the jewellery gala, should we select a custom suit from H or C brand?”

Gu Cheng waved dismissively. “You decide.”

The assistant immediately thought, Let’s match it to the colour of Madam’s dress. That can’t go wrong.

Upon returning to the estate, Gu Cheng, flanked by a small entourage of assistants and bodyguards, entered the private wing. While giving instructions about the next day’s schedule, he pushed open the bedroom door.

Inside, Ning Yi was sitting by the window.

She held a wine glass in one hand, dressed in an opulent gown meant for the jewellery show. The low neckline revealed her porcelain skin, while the hem of the dress offered tantalizing glimpses of her legs.

Gu Cheng froze for three seconds.

Behind him, the air went dead silent.

Then, with a resounding “bang,” he shut the door.

“What are you doing?” His brows furrowed.

Ning Yi sipped her wine happily. “Enjoying myself!”

“I’m asking, why are you dressed like that?”

“This is my dress for the show!”

“What show?”

“Mom’s jewellery gala—wait, no,” Ning Yi quickly covered her mouth, her words carrying a faint aroma of wine. She waved her hand dismissively. “I wasn’t cursing, I swear.”

Gu Cheng: “…”

His dark eyes swept over her, pausing at her collarbones before abruptly shifting back to her slightly flushed face and overly bright eyes.

“Don’t do the show.”

“What?”

Gu Cheng thought about the scene just now, when others had seen her dressed like that, and his voice took on an unyielding tone. “Change out of it. Aren’t you cold?”

Ning Yi was happily enjoying her solo moonlit drink when this buzzkill barged in. She very much wanted to kick him out.

“Not cold. Not changing!” She pouted.

Gu Cheng, thinking about the four male assistants and seven male bodyguards waiting outside, felt the cold smile on his lips deepen. “Changing or not?”

Ning Yi got defiant. “I’m not changing!”

Gu Cheng smirked coldly and reached out to grab her hand.

Before Ning Yi could even react, their bodies switched.

Standing from Gu Cheng’s perspective, she stared at her own reflection—albeit with his frosty expression—and couldn’t help but marvel inwardly:

Wow, what a stunner!

But Gu Cheng, now in Ning Yi’s body, had no time for nonsense. He grabbed an apron and draped it over himself, covering every inch of skin and ruining the allure entirely.

The ethereal goddess vibe was instantly shattered.

First, he made her change clothes. Now, he was switching their bodies?

Ning Yi was not happy! She immediately tried using her mental powers to switch back, but Gu Cheng was still holding her hand.

To her surprise, their conflicting permissions caused a glitch!

For a brief, dizzying few seconds, they switched bodies three times in rapid succession.

One second she was in her own body; the next, she was in his. The scenery shifted around her like a whirlwind, making everything spin.

She hadn’t been drunk before, but now the alcohol in her system was thoroughly stirred up!

Ning Yi slurred, “Why are there so many of this damn husband?!”

Gu Cheng: “…”

Finally, Ning Yi ended up in Gu Cheng’s body. She wobbled, leaned back, and collapsed into the wheelchair, eyes closed.

“zzzZZZ”

A loud thud echoed in the room. The sound was so jarring that the people outside immediately panicked.

“Something happened to the young master!”

The bodyguards burst in, horrified.

Inside, they saw the “young master” slumped in the wheelchair, head tilted back at an elegant angle, his jawline forming a perfect line. Eyes closed.

This, this…?!

Gu Cheng, in Ning Yi’s body, tried to calm them down: “He’s fine—”

But no one believed it.

The guards looked back and forth between “Mrs. Gu” and the “young master,” their gazes filled with wild speculation.

Was the young master *stunned* by Mrs. Gu’s beauty?

Or had the young master *fainted* out of jealousy?!

Either way—

“The young master has fainted!”

“Quick! Get help!”

Gu Cheng: “…”

He could only watch helplessly as his own body was carried out of the room.

That night, the situation escalated enough to summon a team of medical experts for an emergency consultation.

The rumour spread like wildfire—Gu Cheng was on the verge of becoming a vegetative patient again!

Gu Cheng: “…”

This was my mistake.
