“Captain, what should we do? These zombies are faster than yesterday!”
After several rounds of fighting with the zombies, several members of the team had realized the problem.
Xue Chen recalled the discussion he had with Ruan Ning last night and couldn’t help but wonder, could these zombies have really evolved?
If the zombies they encountered before were like stumbling children, then today they had reached their adolescent stage. Not only that, but their defensive and offensive capabilities had also improved significantly. Sometimes, even a slight deviation in aim would cause them to miss their shots entirely.
Having looked at the zombies for so long, Ruan Ning gradually overcame her fear and regained some colour in her cheeks. Now she could look around more calmly, even at the grotesque figures with missing limbs or gaping chest wounds, still approaching their group of humans.

So she quietly stayed in the back seat of the car. Even if she couldn’t help, she didn’t want to hinder them.
With limited bullets and powers that could be depleted, the team members mostly used machetes to directly chop off the zombies’ heads. This method was discovered by a survivor from their safe zone and was the only way to completely incapacitate the zombies.
Even Xie Fei, still weak from his injuries, joined the fight. Following the captain’s orders, he used all his powers to forcefully push the zombies several meters away from the car.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, several members of the team quickly climbed into the car. Xue Chen, with his metalized hand, grabbed onto the car door, leaned out, and threw a grenade towards the zombies ahead.
Thermal weapons were still effective against the zombies in the early stages of the apocalypse. After blowing up many zombies, a clear gap appeared in the circle of zombies surrounding them.
“Let’s go!”
Finally, their car successfully drove out of the gas station. Although the zombies were faster than before, they still couldn’t match the speed of a fully moving car.
So, soon enough, they left the zombies far behind.
However, Xue Chen’s right arm was scratched by the fragments splashed up by the grenade explosion because he didn’t have time to retract it. Fortunately, the situation was not serious. After a simple bandage to ensure that the bloody smell wouldn’t attract more zombies, he continued to command everyone to drive the car away from the area with many zombies.
However, not long after they drove away, the car following them suddenly stopped.
It turned out that when their car was parked at the gas station, the gas tank and tires were punctured by the sharp nails of the zombies. Now, after driving for a while, the car couldn’t hold on any longer and completely broke down.
Not only that, but two sides of their car windows were also broken. Although there were no casualties, the car was definitely beyond repair.
“Why didn’t you take out the grenades earlier? You’ve made our car completely unusable, and we’ve been worried for so long,” a woman complained as they got out of the car. This person was one of the couple who had caused a scene earlier at the gas station, demanding to drive a car themselves.
“Yeah, you’re so selfish! You have so many good things, but you can’t share some with us.”
Seeing the woman’s complaints, her husband echoed with a glance at the guns on their waists from time to time.
Ruan Ning had been on the car before, so she saw everything clearly. At the gas station, this woman had kept her husband in the car and even pushed the mother and daughter out to sit outside. In contrast, although the other two men in the car were hesitant at first, they still mustered up the courage to fight the zombies with sticks and other weapons at the critical moment.
Moreover, the people in this car had been completely unharmed, thanks to the constant care of the other members of the team, who had diverted the zombies towards them.
Now, she could still say such things, which really showed her ingratitude. “Since you’re not satisfied with us, let’s separate here. Everyone goes their own way!” Xie Fei, the fire-elemental ability user, was already a hot-tempered person. Seeing these two people making unfounded complaints, he didn’t hold back and threw dirty water on them, his face showing displeasure.
