Nomad translation – Future
In her previous life, Lin Wangshu was considered extraordinarily fortunate by everyone around her.
After being sent to the countryside, she found herself a husband from a traditional courtyard residence in Beijing. Her parents-in-law arranged a job for her, and her husband was capable and successful. Who would not envy her?
However, the courtyard was also home to her parents-in-law and her husband’s grandaunt. They saw one another constantly, and only Lin Wangshu knew what it truly felt like to be a young daughter-in-law living beneath someone else’s roof.
She endured that miserable life for years, only for her husband to take a mistress and even bring their child home.
The entire family tried to persuade her:
“Your belly failed to produce a child. What else can you do? Endure it, and eventually this will pass.”
But she did not want to endure it any longer!
Fortunately, Heaven gave her another chance.
And so, before the grey walls and blue-tiled roofs, under the envious gazes of everyone in the communal courtyard, she faced the family who had finally come to propose marriage and said:
“I’m terribly sorry you came all this way for nothing. Yesterday, I already registered my marriage to someone else.”
