Nomad translation – Future
After the luxury ferry she was travelling on capsized, Fang Yuyao lost consciousness.
When she woke, a deep-blue sky stretched above her while soft grains of sand cushioned her body.
Her phone had no signal.
There was no way to contact rescue services.
Just when Fang Yuyao thought she was doomed to die, she saw a handsome man emerge from the forest.
Her eyes widened as she asked blankly, “Ni Fang?”
Ni Fang, her first boyfriend—the one she had abruptly dumped without warning—looked to be in far better shape than she was.
His suit jacket was dry and his trousers remained perfectly pressed. When he noticed her staring at him, he mocked, “You were on that ferry too?”
He crossed his arms coldly and, when Fang Yuyao sneezed, laughed at her without the slightest hint of sympathy.
She had no intention of chatting with her ex-boyfriend, so she merely asked, “Where are the other passengers?”
Ni Fang paused.
“So far, you’re the only one I’ve found.”
As they spoke, her ex-boyfriend apparently began imagining that the two of them were about to embark on some romantic tale of a man and woman surviving alone on a deserted island.
He raised his chin arrogantly.
“Why don’t you beg me? I found a campsite. I might temporarily allow you to stay there.”
Fang Yuyao was so furious that she rolled her eyes and prepared to refuse.
Then she heard another familiar male voice nearby.
Xiao Zhiran—the beautiful younger man she had dated for two months before they broke up because of the distance between them—strode towards her.
His eyes contained no one but her, and his voice overflowed with joy.
“Yuyao!”
Fang Yuyao gazed into Xiao Zhiran’s brilliantly burning eyes, then slowly broke into a smile.
Ni Fang’s expression immediately darkened.

Fang Yuyao thought she would now be able to struggle for survival on the deserted island alongside Xiao Zhiran, with whom she still shared lingering feelings. They would rely on one another and face life and death together.
Then, one day, two men approached from the eastern side of the island.
Fang Yuyao’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Weng Yu and Luo Quejin.
One was her ex-boyfriend and former superior. The other was the man she had hooked up with repeatedly while studying abroad.
Both men stared at her like predators eyeing their prey.
“Long time no see.”
“Yuyao.”
Xiao Zhiran frowned unhappily. He wrapped an arm around Fang Yuyao and whispered, “I’ll… protect you.”
As he spoke, a raindrop as large as a bean struck the ground.
A torrential storm was approaching.
Hypothermia, food shortages, injuries and illnesses…
The deserted island was filled with danger.
And somewhere upon it, a monster lay in wait.
