This is a dilapidated factory in a post-apocalyptic world, where dark red bloodstains, rotting flesh, and uncleaned zombie bodies are everywhere. As a group of people are chased into this place by a Level 7 zombie, it unwittingly becomes a place fraught with danger.
“Lou Dian, do you know what you’re doing?”
A trembling male voice shouted angrily, sounding weak despite the fear, lacking any threat and the usual confidence and arrogance, sounding like the numb and desperate ordinary people in this hopeless apocalypse.
A man and a woman leaned tightly against the crumbling wall, almost fearfully looking at a man in a black cloak nearby.
In the orange sunset, the clean-faced man seemed almost saintly and flawless. His pale, handsome face and tall stature, smiling softly in the sunset, created a halo against the decrepit backdrop, like a beacon of hope in the dark apocalypse, yet also a symbol of despair.
However, the blood-dripping Tang sword in his hand harshly pulled everyone back to reality.
This was a bloody murderer who had cruelly slaughtered their companions with this sword.
“Lou Dian!” Feng Shaohuang’s expression was desperate, and after despair, came unwillingness, he bitterly said, “Even if you want to kill us, you should give us a reason!”
He didn’t understand, just a moment ago, they were still struggling against that Level 7 zombie, and the next moment, their teammates who they thought they could rely on were inexplicably lost to the zombie horde, bitten to death by the zombies. It was only then that he realized that the man who had orchestrated this massacre was this very man.
Or perhaps, this man had been planning this massacre for the past six months, intending to have them all die at the mouths of zombies, all devoured alive by zombies, a pain he had never experienced, but could imagine from the agonizing screams of those close to death.
Those wise old men who had seen through the ways of the world said that those who died being devoured alive by such evil creatures as zombies would not even have their souls redeemed after death. Although he scoffed at this idea internally, many people in their despair still subconsciously preferred to kill themselves rather than experience the agony of being eaten alive by zombies.
Yet, this man cruelly prevented them from committing suicide, coldly watching as they were devoured by zombies.
He hated him so much! If it weren’t for this man, his hard-built team, his brothers, his dreams, would not have been destroyed here.
The man tilted his head, as if pained by the sunlight. After the apocalypse, such soft and beautiful sunsets were rare, and few people cared whether the sunset was beautiful or not, as the cruel life of the apocalypse left everyone with only one thought: to survive!
“So, you actually agree with me killing them to avenge you, right?”
The man’s pale and handsome face was tinged with a faint smile, his gentle voice resonating warmly, “The reason for killing you, haven’t you always known?”
Qin Ling looked at the face in the sunset, her eyes showing obsession and resentment. The clean voice was like a pure land in this filthy apocalypse, driving her to madness, unable to extricate herself. Yet, facing those cruel, cold eyes, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud, her laughter bringing tears.
The woman’s beautiful face was covered in tears, but she spoke in the most venomous tone: “Lou Dian, you’re avenging her, right? Heh, don’t you want to know how she died? I’ll tell you, we stole your necklace and hair to trick her, telling her you were bitten by a zombie and would soon die, that fool really was deceived out of the base, and then we pushed her into the zombie horde, where she was bitten to death alive… Haha, she thought until her death that you were really going to die, and she kept wanting to find you…”
Her voice suddenly stopped as the Tang sword pierced through her shoulder blade, causing her pain so severe she couldn’t speak.
The man in black slowly withdrew the Tang sword, the pain of the blade cutting through flesh piercingly intense. He pressed the blood-stained Tang sword against her chin, the blade tracing a line of blood, and said gently, “Don’t worry, I won’t kill you, I’m just letting you taste what it’s like to be bitten to death by zombies. It’s really fair, isn’t it?”
“Lou Dian, you can’t… my father is from the research institute—” Feng Shaohuang’s face turned pale with fear. Despite resenting him for orchestrating everything, his own life was most important, and he hastily added, “And Lou Ling’s death has nothing to do with me, it was their own doing! Yes, that’s it! Qin Ling liked you, so she was jealous of Lou Ling and planned to kill her. Your earlier mission was also forced by her using her connections, all to make you leave the base so she could kill Lou Ling…”
“Shut up!” Qin Ling’s voice was hoarse as she coldly said, “You were the one who instigated it. If Lou Ling hadn’t refused to sleep with you, showing no respect, would you have allowed it to happen? Heh, I just didn’t expect you to actually sacrifice yourself to avenge her. Lou Dian, I’d rather die by your hand—ugh…”
As she spoke, she lunged forward, but unfortunately, the Tang sword was withdrawn quickly, causing her to fall to the ground.
The man seemed to relish their disarray, a faint smile on his face, but his eyes were cold and merciless.
“I said I wouldn’t kill you, just let you taste what it’s like to be eaten alive by zombies.”
As the two tried to flee again in terror, the man swiftly moved in, easily severing their tendons with his Tang sword, thwarting any thoughts of escape.
The smell of blood permeated the air, drifting into the distance. As the mental barrier dissipated, nearby zombies, drawn by the scent of blood, became agitated.
“No—don’t come—”
The man leapt onto a four-meter-high wall, looking down as the two crawled on the ground like ants trying to escape. However, the zombies, drawn by the scent of flesh, were quicker, and dozens of them pounced on them, voraciously biting into their flesh.
The screams lasted a long time.
Just as the zombies were about to finish devouring the two, the man looked calmly at the distant sunset and finally jumped down from the wall, landing three meters away. Before the zombies could reach him, he was already tens of meters away.
As the man reached the factory gate, a military truck and a jeep approached from afar, stopping not far from the factory. Then, about thirty soldiers disembarked from the truck, each armed with the latest post-apocalyptic particle guns, all aimed at him.
A handsome military officer stepped forward, coldly addressing the man at the factory gate: “Lou Dian, your crimes are confirmed. Surrender now!”
The man seemed unhearing, his dark pupils indifferently observing the woman in white and the middle-aged man stepping out of the jeep. His pale, handsome face seemed to smile briefly, and he asked in a clear voice, “What crimes have I committed?”
The woman in white darkened her gaze, then raised a sophisticated tracking device in her hand, coldly stating, “You’ve violated the base’s laws by killing your own teammates. We have video and audio recordings of you committing the murders. Plus, the person you killed is the son of Dr. Feng from the institute. Dr. Feng has offered the antidote formula for the TV virus in exchange for your capture, to avenge his son.”
Dr. Feng, dressed in a white lab coat, glared at him with hate-filled eyes, his voice hoarse, “You killed my son, you must die! No, death is too easy for you. Take him back to the institute; we have an experiment that will suit him well.” His face twisted into a cruel smile.
The man was silent for a moment, then chuckled softly and swiftly retreated back into the factory, moving as light and fast as the wind. The particle gun bullets easily penetrated the metal door but failed to capture his movements.
Suddenly, the woman in white noticed something on her device, her expression drastically changing as she sharply exclaimed, “We’ve been deceived, get out of here now! He deliberately left flaws to lure us here!”
As the others were puzzled by the woman’s reaction, seeing her face filled with fear, they quickly retreated to their vehicles.
Inside the factory, the man bathed in the sunset smiled faintly and whispered, “It’s too late, you all must accompany her in death!” A thunderous explosion then erupted, with the factory at the centre, flattening everything within a ten-mile radius.
