SFTIAAB Chapter 35

Jiang Miaomiao felt so embarrassed that she wanted to crawl into a hole, trying to crouch down. However, Lu Qiming held her waist and forced her to stand straight, preparing to continue kissing when a loud noise came from outside the restroom.

Both of them stopped, and Jiang Miaomiao quickly said, “It must be Meatball trying to steal the vegetables and knocking over the table. I’ll go out and scold it!”

She attempted to use this excuse to escape, but he shook his head with a serious expression. “It’s not Meatball.”

“Huh?”

“Listen.”

She perked up her ears and pressed them against the door.

Footsteps could be heard in the restroom, probably from just one person, but they were disordered, as if the person was drunk.

The footsteps stopped outside the stall door and went quiet for a few seconds.

Bang!

A loud sound followed, as if the door was forcefully struck.

“Heh heh… heh heh…”

A familiar voice echoed from outside the door, and Jiang Miaomiao was frightened, wanting to step back. But she quickly realized that she couldn’t let it in, so she used all her strength to push against the door with her shoulder.

Unfortunately, her strength was insignificant compared to the other person. When the impact sound echoed again, the door was pushed open slightly, and she was forced back two steps by the force.

The stall was narrow, with the toilet occupying half of the space, and the two of them were standing almost chest to back.

Seeing the door about to collapse, Jiang Miaomiao wanted to continue pushing it back.

However, Lu Qiming hugged her waist and shook his head, gesturing for her to step back, while he jumped up and supported the door to flip out of the stall, landing outside.

Jiang Miaomiao covered her mouth in fear, not daring to make a sound.

Outside were the zombies! He ran out unarmed, wasn’t he walking into the lion’s den?

But soon, she heard the sound of glass breaking, as if Lu Qiming had smashed the mirror on the sink.

Immediately afterward, he engaged in a struggle with the zombies, and she couldn’t tell who was who.

She looked at the door, feeling anxious and sweating.

If she went out, she might slow down Lu Qiming.

If she didn’t go out, she wouldn’t be able to help.

If they were going to die, they would die together. She couldn’t let Lu Qiming face the danger alone!

Jiang Miaomiao opened the door and rushed out, only to see Lu Qiming pinning down the zombie on the ground. A piece of broken glass was lodged in its forehead, at least two or three inches deep, and it was still struggling.

Lu Qiming’s hands were bleeding, and he was struggling to control it, the situation was critical.

She looked around, grabbed the nearby mop, and shouted for him to move aside. She rushed over and fiercely smashed the zombie’s head with the mop.

The mop hit the zombie’s face, driving the broken glass even deeper into its head, and the half that was left outside was also shattered.

The zombie convulsed twice and then went still.

Unaware, she was determined to completely incapacitate it, and with every blow, she yelled and put all her strength into it. Soon, she had beaten its face to a bloody pulp.

Lu Qiming had retreated to the side when she rushed out and witnessed the whole process, dumbfounded.

He imagined what it would feel like to have a mop hit his face and couldn’t help but shudder.

It was hard to believe that so much strength could come from those slender arms.

Lu Qiming said, “Alright, that’s enough. If you keep hitting, it will turn into a pile of mush.”

Jiang Miaomiao, panting, stopped and looked at the zombie to confirm that it couldn’t attack anymore. She relaxed her body and dropped the mop into his arms.

“Why did you suddenly rush out? You didn’t even give a warning, and I thought you were done for… Wuwu…”

Lu Qiming had admired her a lot before, but seeing her in this state, he felt deeply sorry.

“Sorry, the situation was too urgent at the time, and the space in the stall was too small to act conveniently, so I…”

He was cut off by Jiang Miaomiao’s anxious interruption.

“Your hands are bleeding, let me see.”

He instinctively hid them behind him, but she forcefully pulled them out and held them in front of her.

Both palms of Lu Qiming’s hands were cut, most likely from the broken glass.

Fortunately, the wounds weren’t too severe, just some ointment would be enough to treat them.

She touched his palms and sat down on the floor in frustration.

“What should we do? Our good days are gone, and we’ll have to live in fear again.”

The floodwaters had receded, but the zombies returned. Even if they were guarding heaps of supplies, what would that matter?

If one day they accidentally got bitten by a zombie, they wouldn’t be able to enjoy anything.

Why did her good life always end so quickly?

It was the same last time, and the time before that, and now it was happening again.

Jiang Miaomiao hugged her knees, feeling so upset that she didn’t want to get up. Lu Qiming reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder.

“Let’s go change clothes first, come back and eat, then deal with the body.”

It was midsummer now, and things would rot quickly. Zombies were covered in maggots and couldn’t be left here to pollute their living environment.

Jiang Miaomiao stood up, feeling disheartened, and followed him back to the hotel.

Jiang Rou Rou was in the living room hugging the table leg and having fun. When she saw them come in, she greeted them warmly.

Lu Qiming kicked it away with one foot, then watched as Jiang Miaomiao entered the room and closed the door. He then went to the next room.

In the afternoon, each of them wore a huge garbage bag from head to toe, with only their eyes exposed. They also put on rubber gloves for washing dishes and carried the zombie to the window.

Lu Qiming brought a bucket of oil and poured it on the body. He then pulled out a lighter and lit it, then kicked it.

The body fell from the 20th floor and landed on the empty ground in front of the building. It burned quietly for more than ten minutes, eventually turning into a charred skeleton.

The suite had bulletproof glass, and as long as they closed and locked the door, they didn’t have to worry about zombies coming in. It was much safer than the supermarket.

However, that night, Jiang Miaomiao lay alone on the big circular bed that could accommodate five people side by side, tossing and turning but unable to fall asleep.

The hot weather was one aspect, but fear was another.

She closed her eyes and couldn’t help but imagine the terrifying scene of zombies breaking in. She didn’t dare to expose her body, even if it meant sweating profusely. She wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, burying her head inside.

Wuwu… she really wanted to sleep with Lu Qiming.

Jiang Miaomiao’s sweaty head emerged, looking at the wall connecting to his bedroom, wondering what he was doing on the other side.

As if sensing her thoughts, he came to knock on her door within a few minutes.

“Miaomiao, are you asleep?”

She wiped off the sweat and kicked away the blanket.

“Not yet.”

“Can I come in?”

Of course, she would have gone to his room with a pillow in her arms if he hadn’t come.

Jiang Miaomiao hopped off the bed, unlocked the door, and Lu Qiming walked in, standing by the bedside, looking burdened.

She sat cross-legged on the bed, puzzled, and asked, “What’s wrong again?”

“Do you really want to fully accept me?”

“Huh?”

“If my past isn’t as honorable as you imagine, would you still want to be with me?”

Unconsciously, Jiang Miaomiao swallowed hard and asked anxiously, “Why are you suddenly saying this? Could it be… Are you really an escaped death row convict?”

“… No.”

“Oh, that’s good.”

She patted her chest, but soon curiosity got the better of her. “What do you actually do then?”

He lowered his eyes, seemingly reluctant to bring up the matter, but forced himself to speak.

“I’m a mercenary.”

Jiang Miaomiao looked at him in surprise. “Really?”

“I practiced martial arts since I was young and got into a sports school. In my third year, I was recommended by a friend to join a mercenary company in the Middle East, and I worked there for six years.”

Thoughtfully, she touched her chin and leaned in to ask, “What do mercenaries actually do? Fight wars for other countries? Or act as bodyguards for top-tier tycoons?”

“As long as they pay enough, we can do anything.”

Lu Qiming answered, then smiled wryly. “You must be disappointed.”

Soldiers were the glory of the country, heroes of the people. In times of danger, they protected the homeland; facing enemies, they charged at the frontline.

Mercenaries were different.

They had no national honor, no political stance, just highly-paid security personnel willing to risk their lives.

The two couldn’t be more different.

“I don’t mind at all. We’re all adults, and who doesn’t have a little secret they don’t want to tell others? Besides, you’re willing to be honest now, which shows you still have a conscience.”

Jiang Miaomiao rolled her eyes and suddenly thought of something.

“Is the reason you’ve repeatedly rejected me because of this?”

Lu Qiming remained silent.

This is not the whole reason, but it is indeed one of the reasons.

Whenever he wanted to get close to her, these reasons felt like thorns, choking him.

Jiang Miaomiao observed his expression and held his bandaged hand.

“You were doing so well in school, why did you suddenly become a mercenary? It’s so dangerous.”

If he had stayed at the sports school, maybe he would have been lucky enough to compete in world championships and win some titles. Wouldn’t that have been much better?

Even if his talent was average, he could have graduated and become a coach, which would have been much better than leaving home and going abroad.

Lu Qiming sighed lightly. “It’s because of money.”

His mother fell seriously ill, and his father’s company faced problems, and the whole family was on the verge of collapse.

To deal with this, he signed a five-year contract with the company and received a large sum of money, which he used to treat his mother and pay off the debts.

Unexpectedly, the economic problems were resolved, and his mother recovered, but his parents’ relationship broke down.

They divorced secretly during his third year abroad and each started a new family.

He followed his teammates, wandering around to complete missions, narrowly escaping death countless times.

Though he survived until the end of the contract, he found himself with nowhere to return.

His parents had new families and no longer needed him, and the closest people to him were those few comrades-in-arms who had fought alongside him.

He chose to stay and continued to earn money. One by one, his comrades died, but he was still alive.

Originally, he had planned to make some more money and go to a place where nobody knew him to live a simple life.

But he didn’t expect that the final mission before leaving the job would completely change the rest of his life…

Lu Qiming got lost in his memories and didn’t move for a while.

Jiang Miaomiao rubbed his face. “Alright, if you don’t want to talk about it, then forget it.”

Her adorable gesture deformed his handsome face, and he looked up, dumbfounded. “Aren’t you angry?”

“Why should I be angry?”

Jiang Miaomiao leaned back, lying on the bed and looking up at the ceiling.

“You’re brave, strong, and responsible. Just these qualities are enough for me to admire you. As for your past, I don’t care.

I’m an ordinary person too, just wanting to eat a little better and sleep a little warmer. If you were some national hero burdened with a crucial mission, I’d feel awkward staying by your side and holding you back.”

Lu Qiming was half skeptical. She suddenly sat up, hugged his neck, and kissed him.

“Lu Qiming, I don’t mind your past. I like you, I want you.”

When the apocalypse broke out, she wanted to make use of the limited resources to live more comfortably.

But now, she wanted to cherish every minute and second, spending time with the person she liked.

She wanted to be a happy salted fish, not feeling regret before her death.

The two hugged each other tightly, leaning close to each other.

The bedsheets were crumpled, and their clothes were scattered on the carpet.

As they were left with the last barrier, Lu Qiming suddenly let go.

“I’ll go get something.”

Jiang Miaomiao smiled and took out a small box from under the pillow, shaking it.

“Is it this?”

Lu Qiming looked surprised and then hugged her again, biting her earlobe.

“I hope we never regret this.”

“I won’t regret it.” She opened the box anxiously, handed him one, and lay on the bed, feeling very nervous.

“But be gentle, I’m afraid it will hurt.”

Lu Qiming kissed her from her fingertips to her chin, his gaze was dazed, but with a firm light.

“Miaomiao, I love you.”

Jiang Miaomiao had read dozens of erotic novels, which sometimes excited her so much that she couldn’t sleep at night due to their explicit descriptions.

But now that she experienced it firsthand, she realized that the novels couldn’t match the reality.

It wasn’t all pure pleasure, and the pain wasn’t unbearable.

Both pleasure and pain blended together, making her want to merge with him, never to be apart.

It was a physical exercise, and she quickly felt exhausted.

Lu Qiming, on the other hand, seemed full of energy. He started with gentleness and patience, then changed to intense passion once they got used to it. The process seemed never-ending.

Jiang Miaomiao unconsciously grabbed his arm, feeling the contours of his muscles beneath his skin.

It was like a drowning person clinging to a branch, unwilling to let go, swaying with the waves.

Lu Qiming paused and kissed her forehead, carefully looking at her face under the moonlight.

The woman’s skin was rosy, and her forehead was covered in tiny beads of sweat. Her eyes were half-closed, her gaze sticky like honey.

Her mouth was slightly open, producing sounds that seemed like pleas for help and yearning for more.

“Miaomiao…”

He kissed her repeatedly and called her name over and over again, never parting from her.

The next day, they woke up with sore waists and backs.

Jiang Miaomiao moved her arm, and the sensation in her joints made her feel like she had been beaten up.

The man was sleeping soundly next to her, his nearly two-meter tall body occupying most of the bed.

Jiang Miaomiao touched her sore waist and cursed him in her heart.

Was this a person? Clearly, it was a donkey!

Didn’t he promise to be gentle?

Just cursing wasn’t enough to vent her frustration, so she planned to punch him a few times while he was still asleep, so she wouldn’t lose if he woke up.

But as soon as she moved closer, he opened his eyes, smiling at her.

“Miaomiao, you’re amazing.”

His voice was nasal, and he used one hand to hug her waist, wriggling around in her arms like a restless big dog.

“I can’t get out of bed because of you.”

Jiang Miaomiao: “…”

How shameless!

Lu Qiming used his buzz cut to nudge her chin, fondly recalling the sensations from last night.

“I never expected you to be so passionate and have such a sweet voice. When you called my name and asked me to go faster, my bones turned to jelly.”

“Your blushing face is so beautiful, better than any makeup.”

“I love your hands, so soft and agile. Miaomiao, you’re amazing!”

“Enough!”

She couldn’t listen anymore and pushed him away, crawling to the edge of the bed.

“I need to go to the bathroom.”

He immediately followed, “Let me carry you.”

“No need, I can walk.”

Her feet touched the ground, and her calf trembled weakly while her thighs felt sore as if they had just done splits. She almost knelt on the carpet.

Lu Qiming tried to support her, but she avoided his hand, steadying herself with the bed. She picked up a piece of clothing and put it on, walking toward the bathroom on her own.

When she picked up the clothes, she didn’t pay much attention and ended up wearing Lu Qiming’s oversized tank top. The length was suitable, almost reaching her knees like a dress.

But it was loose, not touching her skin, giving her the feeling of being naked.

She clearly felt his gaze on her back, so intense that it seemed like he would rush up and take off her clothes.

Jiang Miaomiao quickened her pace, escaping into the bathroom and closing the door.

After using the bathroom, brushing her teeth and washing her face, she spent several minutes mentally preparing herself in front of the mirror before gathering the courage to come out.

Lu Qiming was smoking again, leaning against the bed in a relaxed manner.

Jiang Miaomiao said, “You can smoke, but why do it on the bed? If you burn my blanket, you have to compensate me.”

He made an apologetic gesture and crawled to the end of the bed to smoke.

Rolling her eyes, Jiang Miaomiao opened the wardrobe and took out a clean set of clothes, commanding him, “Don’t turn around.”

Lu Qiming shrugged, looking out the window while holding the cigarette.

As she dressed, she said, “We need to go out early today, find out how the zombies got in yesterday, and block the entrance. There’s so much food in the supermarket, I don’t want to move just because of them. We have to stay here.”

He listened to her with absent-mindedness.

Once she was dressed and her hair tied into a bun, she walked in front of him.

“Don’t smoke anymore, get up.”

Lu Qiming took a deep breath, and the cigarette that was half-finished quickly burned to the end.

As if he wasn’t afraid of getting burned, he pinched it out with his fingertips, threw it into the trash can, and hugged her waist, gently lifting her back to the bed.

Jiang Miaomiao’s heart pounded nervously, pretending to be calm.

“What are you doing?”

“Nothing.”

Nothing, yet he unbuttoned her clothes?!

She blocked his hand, not allowing him to go any further.

Lu Qiming sighed and shook his head, pecking her tender palm with a kiss.

She was kissed so softly that her whole body went weak, and before she knew it, their plan to get up was ruined.

By the time they stopped again, it was already ten in the morning. Jiang Miaomiao was exhausted, and she lay on the bed, not wanting to move a finger.

Lu Qiming knew he was asking too much of her, so he kindly massaged her waist and back, served her tea and water, and fulfilled her every request, as attentive as a little eunuch.

Jiang Miaomiao said, “I’m hungry.”

So he immediately went downstairs and cooked noodles for her, bringing it to her bedside to feed her.

Jiang Miaomiao wasn’t that much of a big baby to let him feed her, so she quickly refused, wanting to eat by herself.

Lu Qiming paid no attention to her refusal and insisted on feeding her. She had no choice but to open her mouth and enjoy the treatment she hadn’t experienced since she was five.

The noodles were sour and tasty, appetizing but a bit oily. Accidentally, a drop of soup spilled on her clothes, leaving an oily spot.

She exclaimed and wanted to get a tissue.

But Lu Qiming was quicker, bringing a tissue to clean her up, and continued feeding her.

Jiang Miaomiao playfully glanced at him.

“I really didn’t expect you to enjoy doing chores so much. You used to hide this excellent quality well. You should keep up this good habit.”

He glanced back at her, his gaze so straightforward that it made her blush.

“I don’t just like doing chores; I like you,” Lu Qiming said.

“Cough, cough…”

The soup splashed into Jiang Miaomiao’s windpipe, causing her to cough and tears to stream down her face.

Lu Qiming quickly patted her back, fetched tissue and water for her.

After feeding her a whole bowl of noodles, he went to get lunch for himself and Jiang Rourou.

The weather was too hot, and the exercise was too intense, leaving them covered in sticky sweat.

While he was away, Jiang Miaomiao took the opportunity to go to the bathroom to shower. But halfway through, Lu Qiming walked in with a toothbrush in hand and scooped a cup of water from the bucket where she had poured over a dozen bottles of mineral water.

“Borrowing some water,” he said, then proceeded to brush his teeth at the sink.

Jiang Miaomiao, who was covered in shower foam, was stunned.

This guy was really impolite!

After finishing brushing his teeth, Lu Qiming washed his face with her water and squatted on the floor, looking at her.

“The foam on your back isn’t rinsed off properly.”

“Really? Where?”

“I’ll help you.”

He scooped up a handful of water and poured it from her shoulders down.

Embarrassed, Jiang Miaomiao covered her chest and turned her back to him.

He knew she was shy, and a faint smile appeared on his lips as he casually poured water over her.

His fingers brushed her waist and back countless times, intentionally or not, driving her almost crazy.

Before finishing the shower, Jiang Miaomiao’s endurance reached its limit, and she turned around to grab his hand.

Lu Qiming raised an eyebrow. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m done with the shower!”

“Okay.” He nodded, took off his T-shirt, and said, “Then come and wash me.”

They spent three hours taking a shower, and it was Lu Qiming who carried Jiang Miaomiao out.

Now, when she thought about her attempt to seduce him, all that was left in her heart was regret, overwhelming regret.

What was she thinking at that time? How could this man not work?

He was just too disciplined, so he held back to avoid revealing his wild side.

While she was gritting her teeth, that wild side crawled onto the bed, hugged her, and nestled into her arms.

“Miaomiao, you smell so good.”

Jiang Miaomiao remained expressionless, shaking the empty box in her hand.

“Don’t be flirtatious; we don’t have any left.”

“It’s alright; the supermarket has plenty.”

The wild side happily nuzzled into her chest.

“We can keep going and going.”

… Spare me, she didn’t want to.

Tomorrow, she would burn all those books.

Jiang Miaomiao forced herself to fall asleep quickly. If she didn’t rest soon, she was afraid she might collapse.

One advantage of doing physical work was that she could fall asleep easily. With her eyes closed, it didn’t take long for her to drift off, and when she woke up, it was already evening.

The sky was painted with the colors of the sunset. Lu Qiming sat by the floor-to-ceiling window, lost in thought as he gazed at the distant buildings.

His profile was quite attractive, and his tall and well-proportioned figure looked like a piece of art from afar. It would be even more perfect if he put on some clothes.

Jiang Miaomiao buried her head in the blanket, peering at him through her eyes.

Thinking that he hadn’t noticed, she was surprised when he turned around after a while and asked, “Haven’t you seen enough? My neck is getting sore.”

“… Who said I was looking at you? Narcissist. I was admiring the scenery.”

He chuckled, walked over barefoot, and touched her hair. “This scenery will always belong to you.”

So cheesy! He must have secretly read romantic novels behind people’s backs, how else could he say such cheesy things?

Jiang Miaomiao got goosebumps and made a disgusted expression. “If I go blind, it will be your scenery’s fault.”

Lu Qiming said, “Take a little nap again.”

“But I’m hungry.”

“Then I’ll cook for you.”

Lu Qiming got up to go downstairs, and Jiang Miaomiao looked at his face, feeling that something was off, as if he was in a daze.

“Are you feeling unwell?”

He stopped and pressed his forehead. “No, I’m just worried that I’m dreaming.”

The dream was too wonderful, too perfect for him to believe it was real.

Jiang Miaomiao understood and rolled around on the bed. “If it’s a dream, then please bring me a dreamy air conditioner and a box of ice cream.”

Lu Qiming smiled and went downstairs.

After dinner, the sun set, and the temperature became cooler than during the day.

Jiang Miaomiao felt very energized after a satisfying sleep and chatted with Lu Qiming.

“Why do you have such a big scar on your chest? It’s shaped so strangely.”

He smiled and grabbed her hand, giving it a kiss. “Is it also caused by zombies? How come I’ve never noticed it before?”

“You miss a lot of things.”

She pouted and changed the topic.

“I thought the dress I wore that day didn’t look good. Why didn’t you even glance at it properly?”

“It looked great. I was afraid I’d get too captivated.”

“Liar.”

“It’s true. Even Marilyn Monroe can’t match your sexiness.”

As soon as this sentence came out, she became even more certain that he was just trying to appease her, so she wanted to pull him up.

Lu Qiming asked, “What are you doing?”

“Help me pick some clothes.”

She brought back a bunch of clothes that she never had a chance to wear. Every day, it was just t-shirts and sweatpants. She was sure that she could find something suitable among them.

Lu Qiming was speechless, being forcefully pulled off the bed by her. His fingertips suddenly touched something and stopped.

“What’s under your pillow? It always pokes me while we sleep.”

“Under the pillow? There’s nothing else… Oh…”

Jiang Miaomiao tried to recall and suddenly remembered something. Her face turned pale, trying to stop him.

But it was too late. Lu Qiming lifted the pillow and took out a small box, reading the words on it.

“Premium Viagra, used to treat erectile dysfunction…”

He looked at her with surprise, and Jiang Miaomiao felt embarrassed, rushing towards the bathroom.
