TVFCATEOD Chapter 5

During the process of gathering supplies, Bai Tiantian discovered a cat. In order to save the cat, she opened the door and inadvertently released a zombie. The situation became critical, and Cheng Rui had to shoot in order to save her from the zombie’s grasp.

Little did they know that the deserted shopping mall would be filled with zombies due to the gunshot. The supermarket exits were blocked, forcing them to escape in another direction.

Everyone hurriedly closed the passage door and rushed downstairs, hoping that there wouldn’t be too many zombies in the underground parking lot, and that they could make a successful breakthrough.

“The zombies’ roars echoed, continuously pounding against the locked door.

“Cheng Rui, Xiaoyang, the two of you take them and go first!” Fu Chen decisively ordered.

The two men each held a woman’s hand and quickly walked out from the emergency exit, entering the parking lot.

The parking lot was also filled with zombies, surrounding them from all directions, roaring and attempting to bite. Bai Tiantian couldn’t help but scream, “Don’t come near!”

Cheng Rui frowned. While fighting the zombies, he had to constantly keep an eye on Bai Tiantian’s safety. Her scream attracted several more zombies.

Bai Tiantian had been well-protected after experiencing the apocalypse, and she had hardly encountered a situation where she was surrounded by zombies. The horrifying scene frightened her to the point where her legs went weak.

Xiaoyang and Bai Qingqing were in a relatively better situation. Not only did Bai Qingqing not scream, she even took out a sharp Tang knife from her pocket, holding it calmly in her hand, and coldly decapitated one of the zombies.

It was Bai Qingqing’s first time killing a zombie, and at the moment when she split open its head, she felt an urge to vomit.

Fu Chen leaped down from the second floor, extending his hand and unleashing a bolt of lightning, blasting away the encroaching zombies. He led the group towards the exit.

The parking lot was on the second underground floor, and they still needed to ascend one more floor to successfully reach the outside of the shopping center.

The zombies in the back emitted terrifying roars as they relentlessly pursued. The zombies on the first floor also heard the commotion and emerged from hidden spots, rushing to attack.

The Thunder Squad had experienced being pursued by zombies before, but this was the first time they faced such a challenging situation. There were too many zombies, and Cheng Rui and Xiaoyang had run out of bullets in their guns and had also exhausted their powers.

Fortunately, the parking lot was spacious enough, providing enough room for their powers to be fully utilized. Xiaoyang’s wood-based power entangled the zombies, while Fu Chen and Cheng Rui coordinated their lightning and fire-based powers to incinerate the zombies to death.

“Cheng Rui, my legs are weak…” Bai Tiantian supported herself on Cheng Rui’s arm.

Just then, Bai Qingqing keenly sensed an ominous aura. She quickly turned and raised her Tang sword to shield Cheng Rui, who was entangled by Bai Tiantian.

“Swish!” The blade and the sharp claws collided, emitting sparks. Bai Qingqing was hit with a heavy impact, flying and crashing into the wall, coughing up blood.

“Bai Qingqing!”

Cheng Rui reacted swiftly, extending his hand and summoning flames to entangle the shadow that attacked again, forcing it to retreat several meters.

Fu Chen took a step forward and helped Bai Qingqing up, holding her in his arms. His gaze was sharp and cold as he said, “It’s a third-stage zombie.”

Currently in the early stages of the apocalypse, most zombies were unintelligent, low-level creatures. The fact that supernatural beings could advance in power meant that zombies could as well. Out of hundreds or thousands of zombies, one or two might evolve into higher-level zombies.

They hadn’t expected a third-stage zombie to appear in this place!

The zombie not far away had a humanoid shape, taller than an average person. Its head was rotten and horrifying, with sunken, eerie deep-green eyes. Its mouth was wide open, almost reaching its ears, revealing sharp, blood-stained fangs and other dirty fluids. A strong, putrid odor permeated the air.

Third-stage zombies, like animals, had developed survival instincts and hunting awareness. They not only killed and consumed zombies for their crystalline cores but also hunted humans as prey.

Bai Qingqing was injured while saving Cheng Rui, and her whole body was in pain, almost causing her to lose consciousness.

As they confronted each other, the third-stage zombie could launch an attack at any moment. Everyone stood their ground, not daring to let their guard down for a moment.

Bai Tiantian stood frozen in fear, her body stiff, feeling utterly hopeless.

Fu Chen was now a fourth-stage supernatural being, while Cheng Rui and Xiaoyang were both third-stage. Although they had a chance of winning against the third-stage zombie, they didn’t dare to take it lightly.

Fu Chen handed the injured Bai Qingqing over to Xiaoyang and said, “I’ll hold it back. You two go ahead.”

“Yes, Captain.”

Xiaoyang carried Bai Qingqing on his back, and Cheng Rui rudely lifted Bai Tiantian, preparing to make a breakthrough under Fu Chen’s protection.

The third-stage zombie didn’t possess higher intelligence yet; it would attack based on instinct. Fu Chen’s figure was as agile as a black panther. With a flick of his hand, several bolts of lightning rapidly struck the zombie.

The zombie, struck by the lightning, let out a miserable roar. It fiercely stomped the ground with its legs, resembling an enraged beast charging towards Fu Chen.

Having experience dealing with high-level zombies in his past life, Fu Chen had no fear of the zombie’s attack. He skillfully dodged the creature’s strikes, and then sent forth several bolts of lightning, directly splitting open the zombie’s head.

He picked up the crystal core of the third-order zombie and quickly returned to the ground. He immediately went to inquire about Bai Qingqing’s condition inside the modified car.

Shen Mingxuan had a serious expression as he drove in front, while the others were in the living room.

Bai Qingqing lay on the sofa, her little face pale, her brows furrowed in pain. She couldn’t help but complain in her heart. If it weren’t for the mission, she wouldn’t be suffering like this.

Bai Tiantian sat on the side, covering her face and sobbing, but no one comforted her as they normally would.

Xiao Yang looked at Bai Qingqing with a worried expression, while Cheng Rui’s cold and hard facial features remained stern. He had an indescribable complex feeling in his heart.

Liang Zhiyu, who was a doctor before the apocalypse, squatted in front of the sofa and asked, “Where does it hurt? Can I check your wounds?”

Bai Qingqing couldn’t exactly say where she was injured. She just felt pain all over her body, and it felt extremely awkward to be surrounded by everyone.

Seeing her struggling with pain, Fu Chen gave a direct order, “You help her check, others go about their own business.”

Liang Zhiyu had a gentle attitude. He carefully held her arm and pressed it lightly, asking, “Is it here?”

Bai Qingqing, who was no longer being watched by others, and with the sense of deep trust that Liang Zhiyu gave off, relaxed her body and couldn’t help but say, “Be gentle.”

Liang Zhiyu knew that she had been injured while acting decisively to save Cheng Rui. He couldn’t help but feel moved by her actions, and his attitude was much gentler compared to his usual coldness. He patiently asked, “Don’t worry, I’m just checking your condition. Does it hurt anywhere else?”

Bai Qingqing mentioned a few more places, then closed her eyes. Liang Zhiyu, being a specialist doctor, quickly identified the locations of her injuries.

“How is it?” Fu Chen asked as he approached.

Liang Zhiyu replied, “Left arm fracture, it needs to be reset.”

Bai Qingqing’s face turned pale. She also thought to herself how unlucky she was. At that time, she didn’t have time to think and just rushed over instinctively when she sensed danger.

“I’ll do it,” Fu Chen said.

Liang Zhiyu nodded and prepared to ask Bai Tiantian for medical supplies. Bai Qingqing’s injuries required several days of injections and medication.

Fu Chen looked down at the delicate girl with pain in her eyes and said, “Bear with it.”

Bai Qingqing didn’t know if it was an illusion, but she sensed a hint of tenderness in his tone. She nodded gently, realizing that she would eventually feel the pain, so it was better to quickly reset the bone to avoid prolonged suffering.

Fu Chen held her slender arm and said, “You collected some supplies in the supermarket, right? Did you take any candies?”

Bai Qingqing’s attention was diverted, trying to recall if she had taken any candy. Suddenly, her arm felt a sharp pain, and with a cracking sound, her bone was reset.

“Brother, you cheated,” she couldn’t help but accuse him, “I haven’t decided yet.”

Fu Chen looked at her with a deep gaze. “Did you take the candy or not?”

Of course, Bai Qingqing had taken candy. She had taken half of the delicious candies from the entire candy shelf. Now the space was messy, filled with various items.

“I took them.”

Fu Chen said, “Give me a pack of candy.”

“What kind of candy?” she asked, and then took out a pack of hard candy and White Rabbit milk candy from her space.

Fu Chen opened the packaging, peeled off a candy, and fed it to her. “Open your mouth.”

Bai Qingqing surprisedly held the candy in her mouth, savoring the sweet taste that swept over her taste buds, alleviating some of the pain in her body.

She couldn’t believe it. Fu Chen knew how to comfort people in various ways. She narrowed her eyes and smiled softly, “Thank you, brother. It’s really sweet.”

Fu Chen carried her to the resting bedroom and instructed, “Rest well and don’t move around. Liang Zhiyu will come to treat you later.”

“Okay, brother.”

The Thunder Squad had originally planned to stay in Jiangcheng for three days, first looting the supermarket before proceeding to raid the grain storage, weapon depot, and hospital pharmacy. They didn’t expect an accident to occur, resulting in Bai Qingqing getting injured.

However, her injury didn’t affect the itinerary too much.

The team found a five-star hotel, and Fu Chen, Shen Mingxuan, and Cheng Rui cleaned it up. Everyone settled into the presidential suite, and after experiencing a series of battles, they were all busy organizing their belongings.

Bai Qingqing occupied a room alone, comfortably lying on the bed, feeling bored. She took out a notebook from her space and started doodling with her uninjured left hand.

After a while, Fu Chen came in and said, “It’s time to eat.”

Bai Qingqing put away the unfinished drawing, got out of bed, put on her shoes, and went out with him.

The team gathered in the restaurant, and when they saw Fu Chen pulling out a chair for her and serving her food, it was like an older brother taking care of his younger sister. Each person had a different expression.

Bai Tiantian bit her lip and silently ate her food. Shen Mingxuan, who observed everything, felt a chill in his peach blossom eyes.

After finishing their meal, everyone rested in the living room.

Feeling a bit thirsty, Bai Qingqing got up and went to the kitchen to pour some water. Fu Chen went to take a shower, and she struggled with how to pour water with her injured left hand.

A glass of water was placed in front of her.

Bai Qingqing looked up and saw Cheng Rui, dressed in camouflage, standing in front of her. He said, “Drink it.”

“Thank you.” Bai Qingqing took the cup and sipped the water.

Cheng Rui’s voice was deep as he said, “Thank you for saving me.”

Bai Qingqing didn’t expect him to come specially to thank her. Her bright eyes were clear as she replied, “No need to thank me. We’re comrades, and it’s what I should do.”

Upon hearing her words, Cheng Rui’s favorable impression of her increased.

At that moment, a sneer came from behind, “I’m telling you, Cheng Rui, don’t let this woman deceive you. She deliberately wants to win your favor.”

Bai Qingqing clenched her teeth inwardly, wishing to give Shen Mingxuan a good smack. Why was he so annoying?

Cheng Rui said, “Shen Mingxuan, did you forget what the captain said?”

Shen Mingxuan was feeling extremely displeased. How could one person after another be easily deceived by Bai Qingqing? That damn woman!

Bai Qingqing turned around and looked at Shen Mingxuan, earnestly asking, “Have I offended you? Because of your appearance, I mistakenly took you for a woman, and you’ve held a grudge against me ever since?”

Shen Mingxuan’s face instantly turned ugly.
