TVFCATEOD Chapter 110

The scientific researchers at the Jingzhou Base have made significant progress. Two experimental subjects brought back from the City of Death were dissected and thoroughly studied by the researchers. With information gathered from various sources, they finally understood the origin and development of the zombie virus.

XX Corporation began researching humans over a decade ago with the intention of prolonging human life and triggering superhuman abilities through drugs to create a new type of human.

However, this endeavour came with risks. The drugs initially developed by XX Corporation for injection into the subjects resulted in almost 100% fatality rates, later improving to a mere 0.01% survival rate. Even the surviving experimental subjects had various defects and were far from perfect.

Later, a doctor at XX Corporation discovered the secret of the world and developed a new type of drug. However, this drug underwent a mutation and transformed into a virus with adverse effects.

According to the normal procedure, this drug should have been immediately dealt with. However, a division formed within XX Corporation, with some believing that the virus could be sold as a bioweapon to cleanse humanity.

Terrifyingly, the uncontrollable happened, and the experimental subjects turned into zombies. The research facility quickly fell, and the virus spread throughout humanity, plunging the world into an apocalypse.

In this world of mutation and natural selection, every species evolved. Only the strong could survive.

After bringing back Bai Tiantian, Li Jin extracted her blood and analysed various data. He found it inexplicable but still followed her lead, only to discover a great secret.

Bai Tiantian’s mother used to be an employee at XX Corporation and was one of the leading researchers.

The original host had been raised in seclusion, with her busy father leaving her in the care of a housekeeper. It was only in her teens that she learned about her half-sister, born from the same father but a different mother.

The innocent and lovely younger sister, only slightly younger than her, was the result of her father’s affair during her mother’s pregnancy. This news hit her like a heavy slap to the face.

She had only seen Bai Tiantian’s mother once. The woman said with cold arrogance that she disdained marrying into the Bai family. Instead, it was her father who adored her mother’s attitude, constantly fawning and pleasing her.

As a renowned researcher at an internationally top-ranking scientific corporation, it was no wonder she carried an air of superiority and looked down on her mother as a worthless person, saying that she never wanted to marry her father and had no intention of destroying her family.

Li Jin’s expression was complex. Bai Tiantian’s blood couldn’t cure the zombie virus, but it could be used for a major experiment. Once successful, it could be launched into the air, spreading the gas and completely destroying the factors that sustained the zombies.

This experiment would take some time and would require regularly drawing blood from Bai Tiantian, a process that might be quite painful.

Bai Tiantian said she was willing to become the subject of the experiment. It was her mother’s mistake, and she felt obligated to atone for it by shouldering the responsibility of saving the world in this apocalypse.

In the third year of the apocalypse, the world’s environment had become extremely harsh. The daytime temperatures were scorching, while the nights brought freezing cold. Humanity suffered greatly.

Zombie waves occurred almost every one to two months, and sacrifices were made constantly in the human survivor bases. The humans injected with the virus vaccine remained immune to zombie infection but were still at risk of being attacked and bitten.

The zombie waves were like armies of puppet corpses, leaving desolation in their wake wherever they went, with no grass growing in the wilderness.

Inside the zombie city, the atmosphere was oppressive. The high-ranking zombies, feared by humans, gathered together. Zhou Hang and Yang Li, as the most valued subordinates of the Zombie Emperor, were at the forefront.

The room was dimly lit, and the man sitting on the throne supported his head with his left hand. His expression was icy, as if covered in frost, his handsome face pale and hinting at sickness. His voice was indifferent, “A biochemical gas to eliminate zombies?”

One of the zombies said, “It was mentioned by the supernaturals we infiltrated in the Jingzhou Base.”

“Is this true or false?” Yang Li’s expression was grim. “If it’s true and they successfully develop and launch it, we’ll be finished.”

News from the Jingzhou Base spread with exaggerated claims, stating that the research institute there was secretly studying a biochemical gas to eliminate zombies. Once successful, it could directly destroy the factors within zombies and completely eradicate them from the world.

Zhou Hang looked up at the Zombie Emperor and calmly said, “I believe it’s true. Since humans have developed a virus vaccine, it’s highly possible that they are secretly creating weapons to deal with us.”

This news had a significant impact on the zombies. Intelligent zombies were very concerned about their safety, and their faces revealed a ferocious expression.

“My lord, should we launch the siege on the humans in advance and destroy the Jingzhou Base?”

“Kill them all!”

Shen Mingxuan’s silver-grey pupils were filled with silence. He remembered the scene of Qingqing escaping, and he felt unwilling. However, he could only watch her leave against his will.

Qingqing had abandoned him twice already. In the Jingzhou Base, she must be leading a happy life, and he desired to tear it apart.

It was time. The zombies would launch their final attack on humans.

He stood up and looked down on the crowd of zombies in the hall. With a ruthless expression, he gave the order, “Tomorrow, we will siege the base and destroy the Jingzhou Base.”

Humans had been prepared for the frequent zombie activities and the siege. They gathered their defences.

This zombie siege was larger than any previous one. Howls filled the air, and humans fiercely resisted, wielding their weapons. Even those who had received the vaccine still felt a tinge of fear when facing the ferocious monsters.

Humans must gather their courage to confront the brutal zombie siege, paying the price of their lives to defend their territory, even if it meant sacrificing themselves.

On the walls, supernaturals and high-level zombies fought each other. Various supernatural abilities clashed, causing explosions, and gunshots rang out as bullets were fired in rapid succession. However, the zombies seemed endless, impossible to completely kill.

The number of zombies in this world was more than ten times that of humans. No matter how many guns and bullets humans had, they couldn’t kill them all.

Qingqing stood on the wall, releasing all the plants she controlled. As a Level 7 evolved being, she could control a large number of mutated plant and animal creatures, and even summon mutated sea creatures from a distance.

She exerted all her mental control, causing ripples of psychic power to spread out like waves. The plant and animal creatures howled and rushed towards the zombies, creating chaos on the battlefield.

The mutated plants and animals devoured and killed the zombies, giving humans a temporary respite. They once again picked up their weapons and attacked the biting and tearing zombies.

The zombies were an overwhelming, dark mass. There were just too many of them, impossible to kill. Just as the mutated plants and animals were about to be overwhelmed by the relentless tide of zombies, a thunderous roar came from the distance.

“Roar~!” Massive sea creatures rushed over from afar, trampling and devouring the zombies.

Bai Qingqing couldn’t use any other abilities while controlling the large number of sea creatures. Several high-level zombies noticed her and immediately leaped towards her like wild beasts, launching attacks.

“Qingqing, be careful!” Xiao Yang leaped over from the side and swiftly intercepted the attack for her.

Fu Chen, Liang Zhiyu, and Cheng Rui were not on the wall at this time. They had a more important task—to guard the last human stronghold, the research institute of the base.

Li Jin was still extracting Bai Tiantian’s blood, conducting the final experiment. If they succeeded today and managed to launch it into the air, humanity would achieve victory.

Bai Qingqing saw Zhou Hang and Yang Li leaping over the wall and rushing into the Jingzhou Base. It seemed their decision to guard the research institute was correct; otherwise, it would have been destroyed, and Li Jin would have perished.

Xiao Yang fought side by side with her and quickly killed several fifth-level zombies. Suddenly, the surrounding supernaturals let out cries of agony, clutching their shattered throats, falling to the ground convulsing a few times before their bodies went limp, lifeless.

Qingqing’s pupils contracted as she looked at a slender figure not far away. He was dressed in white clothes, with white hair and a handsome face. His silver-grey pupils were cold and ruthless. Standing beside him was a fierce black panther, its fangs stained with crimson blood.

Xiao Yang immediately protected Qingqing behind him, his expression filled with cold anger and hatred as he looked at him. “Shen Mingxuan.”

Shen Mingxuan’s gaze pierced through Xiao Yang, looking at Qingqing behind him. Love was poison, it was hatred, and it had already penetrated his marrow, becoming an obsession in his heart.

He wanted Fu Chen dead, wanted to have her, and turn this world into a complete hell that belonged only to him and her. He would imprison her for eternity with blood.

“Wait.” He coldly left these two words behind, his figure flickered, and he disappeared along with the black panther before their eyes.

Zombies climbed up the walls one after another, and humanity had reached a dead end. Qingqing felt a sharp pain in her chest, her figure swayed, and she suddenly knelt on the ground, placing her hand over her mouth.

“Qingqing.” Xiao Yang hurriedly supported her and anxiously asked, “Are you injured?”

Qingqing shook her head, warm blood flowed from her mouth, staining her fingertips red. Suddenly, her heart felt uneasy. She pushed Xiao Yang away and stood up, saying, “I need to go to the research institute.”

“I’ll go with you.”

Xiao Yang used his abilities to carry her through the air, swiftly heading towards the research institute of the Jingzhou Base. Even before they arrived, they saw the surging clouds in the sky, rolling dark clouds filled with thunder.

A fire dragon roared as it pierced through the air, attacking a shadow, while a fierce wind blade chased after another shadow. Those were the two strongest high-level zombies under the Zombie Emperor.

When they arrived, Cheng Rui was dealing with a male zombie, Liang Zhiyu was fighting the female zombie, and Fu Chen was in a battle with Shen Mingxuan. Their movements were so fast that they were almost invisible to the naked eye.

This fierce battle was related to the survival of humanity.

Xiao Yang set Qingqing down. “I’ll go help Fu Brother.”

Qingqing’s face turned pale, and she swallowed the blood surging up her throat. Taking advantage of their time in battle, she quickly entered the research institute and headed towards the laboratory. As soon as she rushed in, she saw Bai Tiantian lying unconscious on the experimental table. Li Jin was not in the lab, and she didn’t know where he had gone.
