ATNMDT Chapter 29

Mr. Dragon’s divine consciousness kept circling around Mu Wanwan. Seeing her face grow paler and paler, his heart became increasingly anxious. He even wanted to throw caution aside and pull her into his arms.

But he was also afraid of how she would react when she woke up.

If he had never come into contact with light, if he had never been cared for so steadfastly by someone who refused to abandon him, perhaps he could have ignored her feelings. But he had already tasted what peace and comfort felt like. He was afraid of exposing the fact that he had already woken up.

Because he was worried she would fear him, that she would find him disgusting.

His original form was so ugly. He already had one more unsightly claw than a normal dragon, and he had heard that humans disliked dragons with ugly original forms. Besides, now he was disabled too, and his reputation outside was terrible…

He felt that she would not accept him.

But he could not lie to himself.

Mr. Dragon held her hand, their palms clasped together, his heart swelling and his handsome face growing hot.

His slightly scorching body temperature passed through his broad palm, transferring bit by bit from their joined hands into her body.

He was still hesitating, but his body heat was like a warm candle in the dark night, making Mu Wanwan, who felt miserable all over, instinctively want to move closer.

So warm…

Everything around her was cold. Only his palm was warm.

Perhaps people all had an instinct to move toward warmth. Although Mu Wanwan’s consciousness drifted in and out, after feeling a little more comfortable, she used all her strength to tightly grasp Mr. Dragon’s hand. Her other hand even climbed up and hugged his arm.

So warm. So warm.

Mu Wanwan dazedly opened her eyes a little, but everything before her was pitch-black. She could not see anything.

She even thought she had returned to her childhood, when she had been locked alone in a dark orphanage.

It had been winter. The three other children living with her had all been adopted. Only she, because she had been running a fever continuously, was thought to be an unhealthy child and had not been adopted.

The director was usually quite gentle, but that day, she seemed to suddenly grow tired of Mu Wanwan. She cut off the electricity and locked her inside the room.

That time had been like this too. Her head was very hot, but her body was very cold. Everything around her was icy. She had desperately curled up in the corner, yet still could not feel even the slightest warmth.

But this time was different.

There was something very warm.

“Cold… I’m so cold…”

Mu Wanwan was unwilling to let go of Mr. Dragon’s arm. She even gripped him more tightly, like a drowning person clutching a piece of driftwood.

Mr. Dragon only felt her soft body press closer, carrying a damp, cold aura, yet it did not make him feel disgusted in the slightest.

This was the first time he had seen her so fragile. Even her voice no longer carried the usual confidence and resilience she had toward life. All that remained was helplessness.

This time, although the skin contact between them made his whole body tremble and his blood flow backwards, he still maintained his rationality.

Could he… could he really pull her into his arms?

His hesitation, his struggle—all of it snapped the next moment, when he heard her call out that fragile “Mr. Dragon.” His reason broke like collapsing mountain rock, crumbling apart in an instant.

What saintliness, what worries, what consideration for her!

At this moment, all of it was selfishly thrown to the back of his mind.

He wanted her.

Only her.

Only her.

Mr. Dragon felt that he must have gone mad. By the time he regained his senses, Mu Wanwan had already been pulled into his arms by him almost roughly.

Across two wedding quilts and half a metre of distance.

From the place where he had to exhaust all his strength just to touch her fingertip, she had come to his side.

His heartbeat thundered like a drum. Mr. Dragon’s cheeks burned as he clumsily and carefully arranged the wedding quilts, until the two of them were completely and tightly covered.

Mu Wanwan had actually been hurt a little by his pull, but compared with the misery of her body, that small pain was insignificant. She only felt that she had left that cold, gloomy place and arrived somewhere warm.

She instinctively wanted to adjust into a comfortable position. Perhaps she felt there was somewhere even warmer than the thing she had just been hugging, so both her hands began struggling about blindly. Only when they touched his scorching, warm chest did she finally stop moving in satisfaction. Her whole body leaned against him. She even pressed her face against him and, disgracefully, rubbed against him, completely unaware of what a huge pit she was digging for her future conscious self.

Mu Wanwan’s fever had already muddled her consciousness. In a daze, she felt that perhaps the wish she had made when she was little had come true.

She had wanted a well-behaved, warm, oversized pillow—the most expensive kind sold in stores.

Comfortable and safe. When she was afraid of being alone, afraid of the dark, or when she had no money and could not happily eat ice cream like other children, she could be like this: beat up that pillow to vent, then lean against that comfortable, warm, oversized pillow and have a beautiful sleep. Then she would not be afraid of anything anymore. ^_^

It was just…

Mu Wanwan vaguely thought—

Why was this pillow very comfortable on top, but a bit cold underneath, and also a little hard? It poked her and was not very comfortable.

It seemed this wish had not been fulfilled perfectly enough.

Feeling wronged, Mu Wanwan curled up her legs and faced the warm source, feeling utterly at ease.

However, once she woke up, she would definitely replace this pillow! Replace it with an even more comfortable one!

As for Mr. Dragon, he could only blush and stiffen all over as he let her touch him chaotically. He let her struggle and kick his tail several times with her little feet. That tiny bit of strength of hers was not even enough to tickle him. Not only did it not hurt, it felt like little cat paws lighting fires on him while acting spoiled.

He could clearly feel the body temperature passing through her thin clothes. It was clearly cold, yet it made him feel as though he was about to burn up.

Moreover, her current posture had her face pressed right against his chest. Her warm breath spilled over him, bringing waves of damp, hot shivers.

Mr. Dragon felt that he was undergoing the greatest trial of his dragon life. Forcing himself to endure this strange feeling he had never experienced before, he let his divine consciousness fall on her face—

She was probably still uncomfortable. Her face was still pale, her brows furrowed, her lips very white, and even the feet she had kicked him with were cold.

Mr. Dragon’s eyelashes trembled. His right hand lifted gently, passing around the side of her lying neck. He softly brushed aside the sweat-damp hair on her forehead, his fingertips tenderly sweeping over her forehead to make her feel a little more comfortable.

Then, as though bewitched, he endured and endured, yet in the end, his trembling fingertips still lightly placed his arm over her waist.

Soft, with a little warmth.

Mm. Very soft, very soft.

This time, not only did Mr. Dragon’s cheeks turn red, his body temperature also rose quite a bit. The warmth was so comfortable that Mu Wanwan leaned even closer.

Unable to bear it, Mr. Dragon hurriedly moved his arm away. His entire dragon body was burning hot. He felt as if he was about to die from the heat. The fingertips that had just touched her waist were covered in sweat, his eyelashes trembled nonstop, and his heartbeat was abnormally fast. He was even a little worried that his heartbeat would wake her up.

In a rather shameful manner for a dragon, he raised his hand to cover his thoroughly reddened face and took several deep breaths.

No.

No.

What was he thinking?

How could he be so shameless?

Madam was already sick now. She was suffering so badly, yet he despicably felt that he was far too happy.

Author’s note:

Little angels, loudly condemning him: “Mr. Dragon, how can you be so shameless!!”
