ATNMDT Chapter 106

As soon as Jiu Qing gave the order, the beastfolk and nine-tailed foxes who had been lying in ambush within several li of the Demon King’s palace rushed over almost instantly.

The elders and royal members of the Sun-Devouring Rat tribe, who had been embracing beauties and wildly boasting inside the great hall, also reacted quickly.

Unfortunately for them, the assassins had already seized the initiative.

Several streams of spiritual energy, each carrying a killing move intended to take their opponents’ lives, struck the newly constructed demon palace and shattered it into broken tiles and rubble.

“Quickly! Protect the king!”

The Grand Elder anxiously dodged the thorn-covered branches Aunt Hua extended towards him while attempting to activate the Sun-Devouring Rat tribe’s internal communication token.

Unfortunately, before he could transmit the message, a sharp pain pierced his abdomen.

*Puchi!*

The Grand Elder slowly lowered his head.

A magnificent black rose had torn through his dantian, and pale-purple blood unique to the royal family flowed from the wound.

The rose demon’s hate-filled voice sounded beside his ear.

“Grand Elder, when you slaughtered my entire tribe, did you ever imagine that this day would come?”

The flower was coated in poison.

It was clearly Mo Teng’s toxin, something sold exclusively by the Alliance of Special Lifeforms.

Why would they have—

The Grand Elder stared at the rose demon’s expression, which was filled with both exhilaration and pain.

For a moment, he seemed to see the sea of roses he had slaughtered and devoured to reward his soldiers for their victory all those years ago.

Had he known this would happen, he should have exterminated them more thoroughly.

Even as he died, he felt no remorse.

Similar scenes unfolded throughout every corner of the demon capital.

The Sun-Devouring Rat tribe had not merely treated one or two tribes cruelly. Countless weaker demon tribes had been exploited and persecuted, forced to remain in despair because they had no means of resisting.

Now, someone was leading them in doing what they had always wanted to do but had never dared.

Even the most cowardly demons would not waste an opportunity for revenge.

The Sun-Devouring Rat King spat out a mouthful of blood as a dull pain spread through his chest.

He stared with blood-red eyes at the beautiful, smiling fox demon before him and quickly regained his composure.

He was not some useless weakling without any strength.

He reacted immediately, covering his wound with one hand as he spat out most of the wine. Then he rapidly circulated the spiritual energy within his body, intending to return to his true Sun-Devouring Rat form and escape.

However, the instant he activated his spiritual energy, the power inside his dantian—which had nearly reached the late sixth rank—seemed to explode.

Fine cracks spread across his fragile demon core. The vast spiritual energy inside him fell into chaos, almost instantly bursting through more than half of his previously resilient meridians.

He could no longer return to his demon form.

“Damn it,” the Sun-Devouring Rat cursed under his breath. “Mo Teng’s toxin!”

“You have a good eye.”

A single drop of Mo Teng’s toxin could cripple a fifth-rank expert.

Three drops could cause the spiritual energy of a sixth-rank expert to run violently out of control.

The Alliance of Special Lifeforms produced only one drop every hundred years.

This time, they had given Jiu Qing and the others five drops.

Jiu Qing had no intention of wasting time speaking to him.

Her nine fluffy tails turned rigid, and her hands transformed into sharp claws. Brilliant red light appeared at the corners of her eyes as her lips curved into a smile.

“For the sake of my nine-tailed fox clan—die!”

Just as her claws were about to tear through the Sun-Devouring Rat’s skull, Jiu Qing saw a triumphant gleam flash through his eyes.

“Self-destructing after being poisoned by Mo Teng’s toxin isn’t such a bad way to go.”

The Sun-Devouring Rat grinned viciously.

His body rapidly expanded, and spiritual energy swept out from him, knocking nearly everyone to the ground.

Not good!

Jiu Qing’s pupils contracted.

“Retreat!” she roared.

Less than three breaths after she gave the order, a powerful explosion erupted.

The violent shockwave was so intense that the world seemed to fall silent. Pale-purple blood mist burst through the air, and the demon palace was completely pulverised into dust.

A short while later—

“Cough…”

An arm covered in pale-purple and crimson blood emerged from beneath the ruins of the palace.

Jiu Qing crawled out in a miserable state.

Her clothing had been shredded to pieces, so she casually pulled a robe from her spatial pouch and draped it over herself.

She spat several times, expelling clots of blood and dirt from her mouth.

Several bloody wounds marred her fair face.

Most horrifyingly of all, only seven of the nine tails that had once danced behind her remained.

“That hurts so much,” Jiu Qing muttered.

Spiritual energy circulated around her body as she flew into the air. Her pupils turned deep purple, and she extended both hands, supporting the rubble with her spiritual energy.

Gritting her teeth, Jiu Qing lifted all the shattered stones by herself.

Uncle Chen and Aunt Hua quickly recovered and helped rescue the injured people from beneath the debris.

They had nearly cleared the entire area, yet Uncle Chen still could not find any trace of Uncle Zong.

He frowned tightly and looked questioningly at Aunt Hua.

“Don’t worry. He’ll be fine.”

Although Aunt Hua spoke reassuringly, she was also extremely anxious.

They searched for a while longer before finally finding the blood-covered Uncle Zong in an obscure corner.

He was still conscious, but he could not speak.

Chunks of Sun-Devouring Rat corpses surrounded him.

Uncle Chen quickly examined him and finally breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that he was severely injured but not in mortal danger.

Uncle Zong had reacted quickly.

When the shockwave from the self-destruction reached him, he had immediately hidden behind a royal Sun-Devouring Rat, allowing the rat’s body to absorb most of the impact.

Even so, what remained had still been enough to leave him in this condition.

Uncle Zong questioned them with his eyes.

Uncle Chen replied with confidence, although his expression remained grave.

“The plan was largely successful. We simply underestimated the Sun-Devouring Rat King’s strength, which resulted in considerable losses.”

An utterly exhausted Jiu Qing also walked over.

“Who could have known that he would still have enough strength to jump around and self-destruct after being poisoned with two drops of Mo Teng’s toxin?”

She spoke with bitter mockery.

“More than half the royal Sun-Devouring Rats inside the palace were weak. Yet when he was about to die, he sacrificed them all for revenge without caring about the future of his own tribe.”

Uncle Chen helped Uncle Zong to his feet.

“In his eyes, no one was ever more important than himself.”

“Jiu Qing.” Aunt Hua glanced at the many shattered remains of flower demons scattered across the ground. “Quickly send word to the Alliance of Special Lifeforms. We need to eliminate the remaining forces as soon as possible.”

Uncle Zong forced out a single word in a voice as hoarse as a broken bellows.

“Wanwan.”

Uncle Chen lightly struck him on the head.

“I know.”

In another day, once the situation here stabilised, they would be able to free themselves and help Mu Wanwan and Mr. Dragon.

Uncle Zong coughed. The beast markings on his face had also dimmed.

Only after hearing Uncle Chen’s promise did he reluctantly close his dirt-filled eyes.

To him, Mu Wanwan was both his benefactor and someone he regarded as a daughter.

He was not powerful enough to do much.

This was all he could manage.

He could only hope that the dragon and witch clans would move a little more slowly and give the younger generation he cherished a little more time.

Mu Wanwan, whom they were worrying about, had still not recovered from the violent trembling within her sea of consciousness.

The sensation was several times more intense than when their spiritual senses had merely connected.

By the time the dragon finally withdrew his spiritual sense and stopped pouring his immense emotions into her, her sea of consciousness had already become a muddled mess.

His spiritual sense had not completely dispersed.

It remained connected to hers, gradually merging with it.

Mu Wanwan felt her previously weak spiritual sense rapidly expand during that brief yet seemingly endless period, becoming much fuller and stronger.

The mental sensations affected her entire body, leaving her arms and legs weak and preventing her from moving.

Her back was soaked, and a fine layer of perspiration covered her forehead.

“Wanwan.”

Perhaps because he now completely understood her feelings, or perhaps because this was his first time experimenting with such a novel use of spiritual sense, Mr. Dragon seemed to have dimly awakened some racial instinct.

Alongside the immense emotional and spiritual satisfaction he had received, he was now extremely excited and clung to her affectionately.

“…”

He was astonishingly heavy and exceptionally tall.

With his body pressing against hers, Mu Wanwan felt as though she could barely breathe. His long hair was scattered across her neck, making it itch.

Mu Wanwan spoke weakly.

“L-let go.”

A certain dragon’s deliberately prolonged, hoarse reply sounded beside her ear.

His heated breath lightly spilled across it, almost like a lick.

“No.”

Mu Wanwan: “…”

She instinctively shifted away.

Mr. Dragon’s lips accidentally brushed the edge of her ear, causing both the human and dragon to turn red at once.

They had both already withdrawn their spiritual senses and therefore could not see each other’s burning faces.

Mu Wanwan only felt that her previously pure and obedient dragon had disappeared.

She struggled twice and attempted to raise her leg to escape, only to accidentally brush against something that she absolutely should not have touched…

Mu Wanwan: “…………………?!!”

The muscles in Mr. Dragon’s arms suddenly went rigid, and a broken gasp escaped his thin lips.

“D-don’t move.”

This adult dragon did not entirely understand what was happening to him.

He vaguely knew it was a normal reaction. It had happened many times while he was with Madam—she had simply never noticed before.

And although he had no experience, he was not a dragon who understood absolutely nothing. →_→

He knew very clearly that when two dragons embraced without clothes, they could produce little dragons.

They were still wearing clothes now, so it should be fine.

Mr. Dragon was so embarrassed that he nearly died. His ears flapped rapidly, creating a breeze to cool himself.

“Wedding ceremony.”

Mu Wanwan: “?”

Mr. Dragon gathered his courage and finally raised his head, looking at her with brilliant golden eyes.

“I haven’t married you yet. We can’t have little dragons.”

Mu Wanwan: “…”

Had the original Mu Wanwan not already performed the wedding ceremony with Mr. Dragon?

Although Mr. Dragon had still been unconscious at the time, and she herself had not yet transmigrated…

Wait.

A possibility slowly emerged in her mind.

She looked at him in disbelief.

Mr. Dragon kissed the damp corner of her eye.

“That wasn’t you.”

Mu Wanwan bit her lip.

“When did you…”

“Probably from the first time you cultivated a spirit plant.”

Mr. Dragon—who had given up concealing anything and voluntarily exposed his own disguise—tenderly kissed the hollow around her eye.

“Such a pure soul was nothing like hers.”

When had he realised that she was not the “Mu Wanwan” who had known only how to cry and make trouble, without possessing the slightest sympathy for others?

Mr. Dragon slowly closed his eyes, concealing the terrifying greed hidden within them.

He had discovered it a very, very long time ago.

“You don’t mind…”

Did he not mind that she was merely a lonely, helpless soul from another world?

Did he not mind that she had never possessed such a dazzling identity before?

Did he not mind that she was simply an ordinary soul who loved him deeply?

“I don’t.”

Mr. Dragon smiled, revealing the small dimple beside his cheek.

She was his treasure.

His one and only treasure.

“So…”

Mr. Dragon pressed his lips against hers and whispered with a red face, “When this dragon returns, we’ll get married. Is Madam willing?”

Mu Wanwan’s eyes became damp, and her voice trembled with tears.

“Mm. I’ll marry you.”

“When this dragon returns, we’ll kill the bad dragons. Will Madam come with me?”

“Mm. We’ll do it together.”

Mr. Dragon chuckled softly and boldly ran the tip of his tongue along the seam of her lips.

“Then…”

“When this dragon returns, Madam must give this dragon one hundred little dragons. Is Madam willing?”

“Mm…”

Mu Wanwan paused.

The tears that had nearly spilled from her eyes were abruptly forced back.

A complicated, bitter feeling lodged itself inside her chest, refusing either to rise or fall.

Stupid dragon!

Give her back her touching moment!!
