MDMSC Chapter 47

A Group Wedding

Why had the apocalypse not come?

Jun Yueyue stood on the stairs holding Fang Anyu’s hand. In just a few short seconds, she had already figured it out. The brilliant sunlight pouring in through the living room’s floor-to-ceiling windows was the strongest proof.

It was because of the person whose hand she was holding.

Because in this life, he did not remember the bad things she had done to him before. He had not died miserably after being treated that way. Perhaps his world had briefly collapsed because of her “cold indifference,” but he had never truly given up hope in his heart.

Someone who had never gone out alone before had dared to grit his teeth and run from home in the pitch-black night, crossing mountains and roads just to come see her.

Deep down, his heart was not as empty and helpless as it had been in the last life. When he came to find her, he must have still been thinking that even if she was as cold as she had been on the road that day, as long as he begged her, she would soften.

His heart was so gentle, yet so resilient. Even though he had always lived under a shadow, there had never been even the slightest shadow inside him.

Jun Yueyue took a deep breath and tightened her grip.

Whether he remembered or not, this time, she would never let him go again.

She led him downstairs to eat with everyone. This New Year’s Eve was indescribably strange, but it was also the only time since Jun Yueyue came here that she felt both at ease and happy.

She did not need to think about anything, or care about anything. The tension and exhaustion that had built up over so many days suddenly relaxed. As she ate, her nose grew sour, and she almost shed tears.

But she did not get to feel emotional for long, because Fang Anyu soon noticed that her mood was not quite right. Quietly, under the table, he reached out and squeezed her leg.

Jun Yueyue turned her head to look at him. His cheeks were stuffed full, his brows and eyes curved in a smile. The light in his eyes dazzled her until she almost lost focus.

Old Master Jun was the first to leave the table. He was in very good spirits, but he had not eaten much. For once, he did not say anything unpleasant, did not put on a cold face, and during the meal, he did not show any disdain toward Fang Anyu. After the servants helped him back to his room, he rested.

Only six young people remained at the table, and the atmosphere relaxed quite a bit.

After Jun Yueyue had eaten enough, she kept looking at Fang Anyu. Because her gaze was far too heated, Fang Anyu himself did not feel much, but Fang Anyan, who was sitting beside Fang Anyu, felt as if he was being roasted alive.

He was just about to say something when, as soon as he opened his mouth, a carefully picked piece of fish was placed into it. Fang Anyan turned his head and glanced at Ji Fei. He coughed once, his ears reddening, then ate the fish with his eyes lowered, focusing seriously on his meal and not raising his head again.

Two couples were throwing dog food around. Li Li could not stand it.

Jun Yu did not even look at him, eating slowly and gracefully, when suddenly, a piece of sausage appeared on her plate…

Jun Yu froze, then reflexively turned to look at Li Li.

At some point, Li Li had taken off his wig. Jun Yu saw that he was smiling. Her face instantly flushed red, and she reflexively stabbed her chopsticks toward him—

“Ah—!”

Li Li’s scream rang out, delighting everyone at the table.

Jun Yu, face red, looked at Li Li in a fluster. She had never treated anyone like this before. That move just now had truly been because she could no longer endure it.

But as she watched Li Li covering his eye, she wanted to apologise, only for the words to get stuck on her lips. She could not help remembering many years ago, when she had also been unable to endure it and had reached out to slap that little hooligan. Unfortunately, Li Li had stood up too quickly then, and her hand had struck empty air.

Several people burst out laughing.

Li Li covered his eye for a while before finally letting go. Jun Yu had only poked his eyelid. His eye was red, but nothing had really happened. When he fought with people, this sort of injury would not even make him blink. Most of it was acting. He had deliberately wanted to see his little delicate flower looking helpless, wanting to care but not daring to.

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

After everyone finished eating, they sat in the living room and began discussing the current situation, as well as the holiday resort on Gantan Mountain.

It would have been fine if that topic had not come up. But the moment it did, Li Li suddenly glared fiercely at Jun Yueyue.

Although he did not say anything in front of everyone, after Fang Anyan and Ji Fei left the Jun family home and returned to the Fang family, Li Li still found a chance to call Jun Yueyue alone into a room and explode.

“Come on, come on. Explain it to me. Where’s the end of the world? Where are the zombies?!” Li Li said. “I really want to bite you to death!”

Although the money spent stockpiling supplies was not an unbearable amount to him, it was still a chunk of flesh cut from his thigh. It hurt for real.

The shadow the apocalypse had left on Jun Yueyue was simply too deep. The abnormal weather, along with one familiar face after another from the apocalypse, had thrown Jun Yueyue into panic. Besides, she had only remembered everything from her previous life later on. Before that, she had even thought she was not herself, and had cursed the original Jun Yue countless times in her heart for being an idiot.

Jun Yueyue thought of the massive amount of supplies. Many of them would become useless if stored for too long. Since the apocalypse had not come, they had to be dealt with as quickly as possible. But selling them off would definitely turn them into second-hand goods. Even if they were new, it would not matter. They would definitely lose a large sum.

Li Li later thought about how many brothers he had, and that he had stockpiled even more than Jun Yueyue. At this moment, he truly had the urge to eat Jun Yueyue alive.

Jun Yueyue slowly walked toward the door while laughing dryly. “You can’t put all the blame on me. You were the one who wanted to stockpile. Now you’re blaming me? I didn’t force you…”

“Didn’t you say people would turn into zombies and eat their own kind?” Li Li smiled darkly. “Then I’ll eat one of my own kind right now and show you!”

As he spoke, he let out an “awoo,” opened his mouth wide, and pounced toward Jun Yueyue.

Jun Yueyue shouted, “Mother!” and ran for her life, but Li Li still pinned her down at the doorway.

“You scammed me out of so much damn money. What’s wrong with me biting you once?” Li Li said, about to bite Jun Yueyue’s arm.

Jun Yueyue blocked him wildly. “Don’t go crazy. Let me think of a solution first…”

“How about I sell everything to you at the original price?” Li Li narrowed his eyes. “Original price.”

Jun Yueyue thought about the things Li Li had stockpiled and said, “How about this: let’s go back to the previous topic. I’ll let you bite me once, and we’ll call it even.”

Li Li laughed from anger and really opened his mouth to bite her.

But before he could lower his mouth, the door behind them opened. Fang Anyu stood at the doorway pushing Jun Yu in her wheelchair, looking at the two people who were holding each other in a posture that looked like they were wrestling.

Li Li and Jun Yueyue reacted in perfect sync and with great speed. They immediately flung each other’s hands away and pulled a metre apart.

Jun Yueyue was just about to say something to Fang Anyu when suddenly, outside the window, a thunderclap burst from the clear sky. Jun Yueyue was so frightened that she jumped. Then Fang Anyu turned and walked away, while Jun Yu also turned her wheelchair and headed toward the other end of the corridor.

“Yu’er, listen to me explain! I was discussing cancelling the engagement with your sister!”

Li Li chased after Jun Yu.

Jun Yueyue chased after Fang Anyu. After entering the room, thunder was still cracking outside. Fang Anyu stood by the window with his back to the door, his expression echoing the weather outside.

Jun Yueyue suddenly felt that this weather…

She had an absurd guess.

Then she walked to Fang Anyu’s side and hugged him from behind.

The thunder stopped.

The lightning was still there.

Jun Yueyue moved to his side and kissed his face.

The lightning weakened too.

Jun Yueyue stared outside in amazement, then looked at Fang Anyu. She grabbed his collar and pulled him down, tangling their lips and teeth deeply. Halfway through the kiss, the weather outside returned to blazing sunshine.

This was the first time Jun Yueyue had discovered such a thing. She was so shocked that for a while, she did not know how to describe her mood.

Later, when the two of them had intimately tangled together on the sofa, Jun Yueyue sat on Fang Anyu’s lap and poked the tip of his nose.

“I really didn’t expect you to be this powerful. Son of the weather…”

Fang Anyu looked at her in confusion. Jun Yueyue had not expected him to hear it anyway and only muttered to herself, “No wonder the weather kept turning extreme before.”

Jun Yueyue thought about it. It did make sense. This world belonged to Fang Anyu. If it changed along with his mood, there was nothing wrong with that.

But in that case, after taking such a long, roundabout route to save the country, wouldn’t it have been better to just elope with him from the start?

“Fuck.”

Jun Yueyue compared every instance of extreme weather with the times Fang Anyu had been unhappy. There really was no mistake. Feeling both distressed and amused, she wrapped her arms around his neck, lay against his shoulder, and bit his neck.

Fang Anyu took out his phone and typed:

What were you saying just now?

Jun Yueyue replied:

I said I really love you, so stop overthinking all the time.

Fang Anyu pursed his lips and smiled. Then he typed again:

What were you doing with that man just now?

Jun Yueyue found this fascinating.

Wow, look at that. The person who once thought the three of them could live happily together now knew how to get jealous. And when he got jealous, he even used thunder to scare people. How terrifying!

But Jun Yueyue did not plan to tell Fang Anyu about the backlog of supplies. She only wrote:

We were discussing publicly cancelling the engagement. There was a little dispute because of money. Once the engagement is publicly cancelled, we’ll go and remarry.

Fang Anyu was truly especially easy to fool. The moment Jun Yueyue mentioned remarriage, he could not suppress his smile. The blazing sunlight outside also grew brighter and hotter along with his mood.

Jun Yueyue spent the entire day in the room coaxing Fang Anyu. Fang Anyu was in a good mood all day.

By evening, Jun Yueyue stood by the window with him. Fiery red sunset clouds spread across the sky, pouring in through the window and wrapping around the two of them. It was warm and breath-taking.

Jun Yueyue leaned against Fang Anyu and thought silently in her heart that she would not say a single word to him about the previous life. If he knew that she had once been so madly in love with his younger brother, and had treated him so cruelly, he would probably create extreme weather where knives fell from the sky.

She just had to coax him.

However, as Jun Yueyue looked at the sunset clouds stretching from sky to earth, she also felt a little headache.

Could she really keep coaxing him blindly?

It was winter right now. If the flowers and plants outside kept flourishing like this, would that really be okay?

At dinner, Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu went downstairs. Old Master Jun was also seated. Since it was New Year’s Eve after all, the food was very abundant.

Only Li Li, sitting across from Jun Yueyue, had two red scratch marks on his face. Although the skin was not broken, the swelling was quite obvious.

Jun Yueyue looked at Jun Yu eating in such a refined and gentle manner. She truly had not expected that this little sister of hers, who looked like a delicate flower, was actually a little wildcat who could scratch fiercely.

Dinner was warm and harmonious. No one knew whether Old Master Jun had truly changed, but he was acting like a real grandfather now, becoming kind and gentle. This clearly made both Jun Yueyue and Li Li breathe a sigh of relief.

After dinner, Li Li took the initiative to bring up cancelling the engagement and changing the relationship between the two families into a partnership. Old Master Jun was only silent for a moment before nodding.

Li Li no longer had family. Every New Year, he spent it with that group of brothers. But this time, no matter how his brothers called him, he used the excuse that he was spending it with their “sister-in-law” and shamelessly stayed at the Jun family home, refusing to leave.

Only, every time he tried to tease Jun Yu, he ended up injured in some way. By the time he stayed at the Jun family until the fifth day of the New Year, he was almost like a mangy dog. Every time Jun Yueyue saw him, she could not help letting out a wild and impolite laugh.

But this level of shameless persistence was not completely ineffective. As a fellow woman, Jun Yueyue could naturally see that Jun Yu perhaps had not felt the slightest goodwill toward the previous “future brother-in-law” who kept showing her attention. But toward this current “stinking hooligan,” she blushed every time. Once, that little delicate flower with such a good temper even cursed someone, shocking Jun Yueyue.

Li Li persisted relentlessly. He did not hit back when hit, did not curse back when cursed. He only kept moving closer to her, completely unaffected.

Company matters started again from the second day of the New Year. Jun Yueyue did not stand on ceremony either. Although she occupied the position of the Jun family head, she handed many matters over to Jun Yu to deal with.

Old Master Jun once asked her what she meant by that.

Jun Yueyue said, “Don’t worry. Everything I said still counts. I can see that she feels uncomfortable being idle, so I’m letting her do some work too. In any case, the Jun family will belong to both of us in the future.”

After hearing that, Old Master Jun was silent for a long time. Only then did he smile in relief and nod. In his heart, he finally let go of this knot.

This was no longer his era. The times he had experienced, when people fought until their heads bled over power and money, truly no longer existed. He had been thinking wrongly before.

Old Master Jun leaned against the bed with narrowed eyes. If that was the case, then he could truly be at ease when he entered the earth and went down to give an account to his daughter and son-in-law.

Because of the abnormal weather, winter simply never transitioned properly. So after the New Year, the resort began construction in full swing.

In the end, after holding it in for a long time, Jun Yueyue really did come up with a good solution. For the stockpiled supplies, things that retained value, such as large amounts of luxury goods, would be sold off. As for daily necessities, they would all be donated.

At the same time as the donation, she announced the cancellation of the engagement between the two families.

The two matters were tied together, and Pingchuan and Qiuhai truly discussed it heatedly for a while.

In practice, this was also another form of advertising. And just as Jun Yueyue had expected, the effect was even better than ordinary advertising.

As soon as the engagement was cancelled, Jun Yueyue found time to remarry Fang Anyu.

On the day they remarried, there was not a single cloud for ten thousand miles. The two of them walked on the road and were almost roasted alive. Jun Yueyue shaded herself from the sun with her handbag while watching Fang Anyu holding an ice cream cone, licking it bit by bit. He held her hand with one hand and looked around curiously on the street.

His freshly dyed golden curls made him look exactly like a walking, real-life inflatable doll. The rate at which people turned their heads to look at him was absolutely one hundred percent.

She had also dyed her hair gold and curled it. Fortunately, her skin was fair and her looks were bright and stunning, so she could completely carry it. Together, the two of them became the two most eye-catching cubs on the entire street.

In the blink of an eye, five months passed.

Midsummer was still midsummer.

The second phase of the resort was completed, leaving only the finishing touches. During this time, Jun Yu entered the company and became Jun Yueyue’s assistant. Jun Yueyue often “neglected her duties,” throwing large amounts of work to Jun Yu while taking Fang Anyu everywhere to have fun.

In any case, Jun Yu looked as if she enjoyed it. There was also an attentive mangy dog chasing after her, helping her share the workload.

Jun Yu had already begun adapting to prosthetics. After her surgery, one leg had been amputated to the thigh, while the other had only been amputated to the calf. When she first started trying, it was definitely unbearably painful. But Jun Yu was unexpectedly resilient.

Every time, Li Li accompanied her to the rehabilitation centre. After a long time, on the rare occasion that something delayed him and he could not go, Jun Yu began to feel restless.

But she kept silent and did not say anything. Her heart was deeply conflicted. After all this time, she knew that Li Li had deliberately provoked her back then. She also knew he was a good man: clever, slippery, but responsible and hot-blooded.

What she struggled with was the fact that she was incomplete after all. But watching her sister and brother-in-law get along so well, she did not feel inferior. She was only afraid that people’s hearts changed too easily.

When Li Li appeared the next day, Jun Yu’s gaze somewhat avoided him.

Li Li was extremely sensitive, like a human spirit. That day, after Jun Yu had exercised until her whole body was sweaty and she could no longer stand, he held her.

Actually, he had held her many times before. But this time, the way Li Li held her was different. Instead of holding her and placing her on a chair to rest, he sat on the chair himself and held her on his lap, face to face.

Jun Yu widened her eyes. Her sweat-damp hair stuck to her face. “What are you doing? Let go…”

Li Li leaned closer and rubbed the tip of his nose against hers.

“Don’t worry. I can’t bully you here.”

Li Li’s voice was low. “Let me ask you. Do you actually like me?”

Jun Yu did not speak.

Li Li asked again, “Or back then, were you trying to pick me up?”

Jun Yu bit her lip and her face reddened.

Li Li held her sweat-damp cheek and chuckled softly. “Feeling embarrassed? I’ve waited so long for you to think it over. It’s fine if you don’t say it. I can keep waiting. But you at least have to let brother taste a little sweetness…”

As he spoke, he held Jun Yu’s head and pressed down toward her lips, not allowing refusal.

His kiss was neither subtle nor inexperienced. Jun Yu’s mind was stirred into confusion by his agile tongue, and she could only clutch his shoulders.

Halfway through, Li Li briefly released Jun Yu. After looking at her with extreme seriousness, he said, “Actually, I regretted it a lot back then.”

Not regretted rejecting Jun Yu with that reason, but regretted not going further.

“If I had kissed you until you were dizzy back then,” Li Li smiled, “you definitely would have recognised me the moment you saw me.”

Jun Yu’s face turned so red it seemed blood would drip from it. She raised her hand and pinched his ear, then shyly buried her head against Li Li’s shoulder.

This bastard.

Li Li was especially pleased today. This could be considered finally winning over his little delicate flower.

But before he could be intimate for much longer, or study when he could take things a step further and completely make her his, Jun Yu stayed up late under the lamp and began handling matters from the Jun family company.

Li Li felt sorry for her and stayed up with her, but in his heart he cursed Jun Yueyue to death. He even sent messages cursing her for not acting like a human being.

Jun Yueyue did not hear them. She was at the amusement park with Fang Anyu. They had already been there several times, but it was their first time going at night.

Jun Yueyue drove a bumper car, crashing into Fang Anyu back and forth. She did not hear the message notification at all.

Fang Anyu was extremely happy. His smile was brighter than the colourful lights of the amusement park.

However, although she did not hear the messages, while Fang Anyu was riding the carousel, she did hear the phone ringing.

She answered. It was Fang Anyan.

“Can you and my brother come back for a while? My dad had a heart attack and was admitted to hospital.” Fang Anyan’s voice was urgent. Beside him, Mother Fang’s muttering voice could also be heard. She seemed to be scolding someone.

“I’m calling the police right now, you murderer!” Mother Fang kept hurling insults at Ji Fei behind Fang Anyan.

Ji Fei stood there with her hands on her hips, unconcerned, her expression cold.

After Fang Anyan hung up, he could no longer endure it and shouted at Mother Fang, “Enough!”

Mother Fang shut her mouth. Tears immediately flowed down.

“I raised you this big, and all you know is how to side with outsiders… Your brother is the same. What did I raise you both for… wuwuwu…”

Fang Anyan pressed his lips tightly together.

Mother Fang cried more and more severely, attracting people in the corridor. His father was still in the ward and had only just stabilised. Fang Anyan pinched his forehead.

Ji Fei suddenly spoke.

“Didn’t you raise him to sell him?”

Mother Fang’s voice choked.

Ji Fei continued, “He’s already been sold to me. Or did you think the sudden working capital your family received fell from the sky? That was all earned by me, this murderer, from killing people. I saw you bought a new handbag too. Weren’t you using it quite happily?”

Mother Fang’s whole body trembled. She pointed at Ji Fei, then glared at Fang Anyan.

“Anyan, you…”

This time, Fang Anyan’s heart truly went cold.

Recently, his parents had repeatedly wanted to introduce him to the daughter of a jeweller in Qiuhai City. He had refused several times, but they still forcibly arranged a dinner.

It had been a meeting under the pretext of cooperation, with both sets of parents present. Fang Anyan only found out after he arrived. The moment he entered the room and met the smiling gaze of that girl, his heart went cold.

Coincidentally, Ji Fei had returned from a mission these past two days. When she came to find Fang Anyan, he was arguing with his family. As soon as Ji Fei heard it, she grew furious. She suddenly appeared and pressed a gun against Father Fang, who was morally blackmailing Fang Anyan, saying that Fang Anyan was hers.

Father Fang had been a businessman all his life. The storms he had experienced were all in the business world. He did proper business. Where had he ever encountered people shouting about fighting and killing?

Seeing that the gun Ji Fei held was real, he was so frightened on the spot that he had a heart attack.

But strangely enough, not only did Fang Anyan not blame her, the moment she appeared, he had actually let out a deep sigh of relief.

He had never relied on anyone before. This feeling was terribly useless. But with Ji Fei standing behind him, Fang Anyan felt at ease.

Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu only arrived the next evening. By the time they arrived, Father Fang was already fine. It was just that he and Mother Fang were still scolding Fang Anyan, calling him unfilial.

However, the moment Jun Yueyue arrived, the two elders fell silent.

When she and Fang Anyu remarried, that additional contract was practically equivalent to buying their son from them.

After Jun Yueyue understood the situation, she entered the room and directly said to Ji Fei, “Can they acknowledge money you gave without a clear contract? First withdraw the investment, then sign a contract like I did.”

Ji Fei humbly nodded.

Fang Anyan turned his head and smiled slightly.

Father Fang and Mother Fang’s expressions immediately turned bad. The property development that had nearly dragged the Fang family to death only lacked its final phase of construction. Once sales began, their family would truly have no more worries. If Ji Fei insisted on withdrawing the money now, then the Fang family would once again face the risk of a broken capital chain.

Each of them turned into silent gourds and stopped speaking, only looking nervously at Fang Anyan.

Fang Anyan then said, “She injected one hundred million in funds. If she withdraws it, the Fang family can directly declare bankruptcy right now.”

Ji Fei raised her brows slightly.

Jun Yueyue also barely held back her laughter.

How could there be that much? Fang Anyan was exaggerating. But Mother Fang and Father Fang really believed it and completely did not dare make a sound.

This matter was considered over just like that.

Mother Fang did not dare interfere with Fang Anyan’s affairs anymore, and pulled Fang Anyu over to look him up and down. But no matter how she looked, he had gained two circles of weight. His mental state was good, his eyes sparkling. He no longer looked gloomy and silent like he had at home.

Although Mother Fang and Father Fang were misers, the two brothers were still their biological children whom they had raised to adulthood. Like Old Master Jun, they had walked through life and learned the shortcuts. Naturally, they did not want their children to take detours. Love or not love—back then, the two of them had disliked each other too. Hadn’t they still accompanied each other into old age?

They simply did not understand that every person’s life, whether tragic or happy, should not be arranged by someone else.

Since Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu had come to Qiuhai City, they were not in a hurry to return. The company had been thrown to Jun Yu. Jun Yueyue only had to be present for major decisions. But in truth, there were basically no major decisions. Jun Yueyue had completely become a hands-off manager, spending every day stuck to Fang Anyu.

Father Fang could originally have been discharged, but Fang Anyan used the excuse that the doctor said he still needed observation and did not handle the paperwork, making him stay in the hospital one more night.

The four of them returned to the Fang family home. The first thing Fang Anyu did was run upstairs to look at his flowers and plants.

Jun Yueyue followed him upstairs. The moment she entered the room, she was a little dumbfounded. She did not know what the plants had looked like when Fang Anyu left, but now, because of their wild growth, many of the plants were tangled together, inseparable. Fang Anyu also could not bear to trim them, so he simply let them climb over one another. They looked spectacular, but some had grown so large that cracks had appeared in the flowerpots.

Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu spent half the night organising the plants.

Suddenly, they heard something shattering downstairs. Jun Yueyue brought Fang Anyu out and saw Fang Anyan standing barefoot in the living room with his shirt open, drinking directly from a bottle.

His body was covered in ambiguous marks, clearly showing what had happened earlier. But Ji Fei was nowhere to be seen.

When Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu came down, Fang Anyan reached out and pulled his shirt together. A bottle of alcohol had shattered on the floor and had already cut his foot a little. It was bleeding, yet he seemed unaware.

Jun Yueyue brought the first-aid kit. Fang Anyu helped Fang Anyan treat the wound. Fang Anyan sat obediently. The bottle of foreign liquor on the table was already empty. His eyes looked somewhat blank. He had probably drunk too much.

Jun Yueyue asked him, “Where’s Ji Fei? Did you two argue?”

Fang Anyan bit his lip.

Then, suddenly, he cried.

And it was not the kind of silent crying grown men did. He hugged his own head and bawled, crying like a child.

For a moment, Jun Yueyue did not know whether she should comfort him or laugh. Holding it in, she looked at Fang Anyu. Fang Anyu froze when he saw Fang Anyan like that too, then pursed his lips, also trying hard to hold back a smile.

Finally, Fang Anyan cried pitifully and said, “I proposed to her and asked her not to be a mercenary anymore. She rejected me and left. She won’t come again…”

This was indeed a sad story. Jun Yueyue still suppressed her laughter and comforted him together with Fang Anyu for a while.

Probably because he had drunk too much, he soon cried himself to sleep. The two of them struggled to get him into his room. The next morning, apart from his eyes being a little swollen, he had completely returned to normal.

After that, Father Fang was discharged from the hospital. Fang Anyan sent the two elders abroad to travel again. The house became quiet. After Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu returned to Pingchuan, only Fang Anyan was left.

Every day when he came home, the house was so silent that there was not the slightest sound.

August midsummer.

Well, even when it was not August, it was still midsummer.

The four seasons seemed to have forgotten how to alternate. Fang Anyan worked desperately. His efforts over the past year had all paid off. The Fang family’s funds were finally sufficient.

However, with the resort completed and his property development beginning sales, he spent his days soaking in drinking parties. By the time he got home, it was already late at night.

Today was the same as usual. When he returned home, it was already deep into the night. But when he drunkenly opened the door, the cold barrel of a gun pressed against the back of his head.

Fang Anyan calmly turned around. Seeing Ji Fei’s face, he was silent for a moment before saying, “I’m not selling anymore. Treat the money you gave before as an investment. I’ll pay you back one hundred million, in instalments. You won’t lose out.”

After Fang Anyan finished speaking, he paused, then added, “Don’t come looking for me again.”

He turned around and no longer looked at Ji Fei.

But Ji Fei did not move the gun barrel away. Instead, she said, “I agreed. But if you dare cheat in the future, if you dare get entangled with another woman, I’ll personally blow your dick to pieces.”

Her face was terribly pale. One hand pressed against her waist and abdomen. In just a few sentences, cold sweat had appeared at her temples, and her voice trembled badly.

Fang Anyan froze in the middle of opening the door. He really wanted to have a little backbone and ignore her. But by the time he reacted, he had already turned around and hugged her tightly.

With a crying tone, he said, “How would I dare…”

But he held her too tightly. Ji Fei could not help letting out a pained cry. Only then did Fang Anyan realise that she was injured.

After the two entered the house, Fang Anyan saw that, apart from her face, there was almost no uninjured part of her body. Bruises, knife wounds, and gunshot wounds overlapped, but all had cleverly avoided vital areas. His hand trembled so badly when calling the ambulance that he could barely hold the phone.

Ji Fei had spent years rolling along the edge of life and death. She was not so easy to kill. However, her injuries took a long time to heal. Fang Anyan even took her abroad to have cosmetic surgery.

Leaving the mercenary group was not easy. Being able to come out with her life was already because the teammates who had spent years risking their lives with her had left her a path to live.

After Ji Fei fully recovered, her appearance had completely changed into another person. But she no longer had to wander on the edge of life and death or exchange her life for money.

Another New Year’s Eve came.

The four seasons still refused to alternate properly. The world had already become calm about this matter, and had long begun addressing the issue of the polar ice caps melting. The public no longer panicked.

In early April, Fang Anyan announced that he and Ji Fei were getting married. Jun Yu was also preparing to hold a wedding with Li Li. After discussion between the two sides, they decided to choose the same day.

Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu had had an unhappy wedding in their last life. In this life, they had skipped the wedding completely, so they simply joined in the fun too.

The wedding venue was set at a newly opened grand hotel in Qiuhai City. It was one of Wu Zhenfei’s properties. He and his young wife had recently been having conflicts. After seeing Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu, his expression looked a little bitter.

“You two… aren’t you already married?” When he received the wedding photos of the three couples and saw Jun Yueyue, he thought he had mistaken her for someone else.

Jun Yueyue shrugged. “I want to relive the feeling of being newly married with him.”

“You…” Wu Zhenfei looked at Fang Anyu, who was looking around curiously, and could not help asking, “Why do you like him?”

In truth, everyone was puzzled.

Because no matter who looked at it, Fang Anyu and Fang Anyan were far too different. They could understand Jun Yueyue going mad for Fang Anyan. But going mad for someone like Fang Anyu would shock anyone.

Jun Yueyue smiled.

“His good points can only be known after you’ve tasted them.”

After saying that, she had no intention of continuing to chat with Wu Zhenfei. Lifting her gown, she pulled Fang Anyu along and went to the venue.

Two months earlier, Jun Yu had already been able to stand with the help of prosthetics. With this period of training, she could now control them fairly well.

The hem of her wedding dress scattered down, covering her incompleteness. She stood before the mirror, so beautiful that it startled the heart.

Li Li could not resist secretly slipping in through the small door. He hugged Jun Yu and was affectionate with her for a long while. Before leaving, he even asked beside her ear, “Do you still remember what I said back then?”

“What?” Jun Yu was confused.

“I said, if you could stand up, brother would feed you some—”

“Pa!”

Jun Yu slapped Hooligan Li across the face, her face flushed red.

Li Li rubbed his face without minding it and laughed. Today, he was not wearing a wig, but his hair had grown quite a bit. Although he still looked roguish, at least he no longer looked like a hooligan.

“Tonight, I’ll feed you. It won’t be spicy…”

He still quickly finished speaking and ran, leaving Jun Yu standing somewhat helplessly in front of the mirror, biting her lip.

Unlike her, the next room was a completely different scene.

Ji Fei looked at the pointed chin in the mirror and complained, “Back then, I let you choose what I should look like after surgery, and this is what you chose? Just now, I ran into several people in the courtyard who looked exactly like me. We looked like we came off the same assembly line. What kind of taste is this?”

Fang Anyan hugged Ji Fei and coaxed her. “I… I just casually found a picture that looked okay and showed it to the doctor. I was wrong, I was wrong. I like you no matter what you look like. Really…”

The rooms used to store and change gowns were all separate rooms. The makeup artists and others had not yet arrived. There was still some time before the official wedding. Fang Anyan’s side was filled with chaos.

But in the room next door, where Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu were, everything was harmonious.

No, strictly speaking, it was not harmonious.

Fang Anyu sat on a chair. Jun Yueyue was sitting on his lap with her hands on his shoulders. The two of them looked as if they were only embracing. But although the wide skirt could conceal their inseparable state, it could not hide the soft, muffled sounds.

Jun Yueyue gritted her teeth and turned her head, somewhat annoyed, to bite Fang Anyu.

Any other time would have been fine, but he insisted on secretly dragging her into doing this now. Recently, he had become more and more outrageous, as if he had opened the door to a new world. There was almost nowhere Jun Yueyue had not tried with him. She felt as if she was going to be played broken by him.

The strapless wedding dress could not restrain her restless chest. Fang Anyu tightly held Jun Yueyue’s waist, squeezing her until she almost could not breathe. Her face gradually turned as red as Fang Anyu’s flushed face.

Jun Yueyue lay against his shoulder, indulging him as he galloped freely in her world.

Not far away, outside the window downstairs, voices were noisy and lively. That was the happy life waiting for them. But inside this room, the two people who were tightly merging into each other’s lives and bodies were using the most intimate posture they could to let each other feel the other’s love.

When night fell and the wedding march sounded, the three couples walked out hand in hand from their exclusive floral staircase.

Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu stood in the very centre.

Passing under the archway where colourful lights flashed continuously, Jun Yueyue felt Fang Anyu open his fingers. She lowered her head and smiled, then threaded her fingers through his.

This time, she had grasped the happiness that belonged to her.

Everyone is a book.

The life performed in that book may be tragic, or it may be joyful. When you make any different choice, it will automatically change the ending.

You can choose to intersect with another person. When your wishes overlap with theirs, your worlds merge. From then on, they become inseparable from your life. Your joys and sorrows become closely tied to them.

Perhaps in someone else’s story, you are only a supporting character, insignificant and not worth mentioning. But in your own story, you are the main character. Everything in the world is inseparable from you.

And your choices determine whether you are a supporting character or the protagonist.

It does not matter if you choose wrongly. No matter when you change your choice, it is not too late. The people who love you will always be waiting for you, waiting to intersect with you in life.

Your life is held in your own hands.
