MDMSC Chapter 58

Stop Messing Around

Jun Yueyue was completely dumbfounded.

She could imagine that, after Fang Anyu remembered everything, he would still hate her and resent her. But the fact that he had ended his own life and chosen to cross paths with her again meant that he still loved her.

Jun Yueyue could imagine Fang Anyu feeling sad, having knots in his heart, even becoming depressed because of everything that had happened before. This time, she could patiently accompany him and properly make it up to him.

But as Jun Yueyue looked at the three somewhat messy words on the paper, she felt as if she had instantly been beaten back to her original state. He was not even giving her a chance. This was really too—

Wait, no.

Jun Yueyue thought of how Fang Anyu had hidden things before, without showing anything unusual at all. The world’s change had not happened in a day or two, so he had not remembered everything just now either. Then what was this “break up” nonsense?

Besides, the two of them were already married!

After Jun Yueyue’s heart churned violently for a while, she took a deep breath, met Fang Anyu’s eyes, and asked him, “Why?”

Fang Anyu pressed his lips together and did not speak. He looked away, turning the uninjured half of his face toward Jun Yueyue, and handed the paper in his hand toward her again.

Jun Yueyue watched his movement and stared at his side profile. Guessing why he was doing this, she stepped forward and hugged him. Fang Anyu’s light struggle could basically be ignored. Jun Yueyue did not even use any strength, and he could not break free.

“Stop messing around. We’re already married. What break up?” Jun Yueyue said. “If we have to separate, then it can only be divorce.”

Jun Yueyue clearly felt that when she said the word “divorce,” Fang Anyu stiffened noticeably. A smile appeared at the corner of her mouth. She buried her head against Fang Anyu’s chest and deliberately stayed silent for a long while.

Only after quite some time did she speak.

“Besides, the world has already become like this. We can’t even get divorced now. You can only make do with me, even if I’m a scumbag.”

Fang Anyu slowly relaxed. Somewhere Jun Yueyue could not see, he also smiled.

In their previous life, Jun Yueyue had ignored him far too many times. Fang Anyu had always hoped Jun Yueyue would show that she cared about him a little more.

He still felt this was not enough. Deliberately, he continued pretending to be downcast. Jun Yueyue hugged him for a while and discovered that he did not hug her back at all. He just stood there like that. She let go of him and asked, “Anyu, what’s wrong? Are you still… angry with me because of those things?”

Fang Anyu did not make a sound. He only lowered his head. Inside, he was extremely satisfied with Jun Yueyue’s cautious attitude, but on the surface, he pretended to be sorrowful. He picked up the pen and continued writing.

—I’m no longer the me you liked.

Jun Yueyue: …

Why did this line sound so cheesy? It was like something from a romance novel several hundred years ago.

But she resisted the urge to shudder from goosebumps and cooperatively coaxed him, “How could that be? I like you no matter what you become.”

Fang Anyu could not suppress the corner of his mouth, which wanted to rise. In the end, he pressed a hand to his face and barely held it back. Then he turned to look at Jun Yueyue, his eyes unexpectedly covered with a thin mist of tears.

Jun Yueyue: …

“What’s wrong with you?” Jun Yueyue’s expression carried just the right amount of anxiety.

Fang Anyu wrote again:

—My face will never recover to how it looked before.

Jun Yueyue almost burst out laughing. She had really caught that fleeting smile of his, and only then did she know this brat was pretending. Otherwise, this time, she would definitely have been tricked into complete confusion by him.

Thinking about it this way, if Fang Anyu had already remembered everything from before at the start of the apocalypse, then many things that had been difficult to explain during this period could now be explained.

First, he said he could control zombies. That explained the strange sight of zombies standing there like cabbages waiting to be chopped. He had been secretly protecting her all along.

As for later… every time he became that weak, it was because he had been protecting everyone. And when she wanted to leave the base, he insisted on following her, making up that clumsy excuse that he would die if he left her, also because he wanted to protect her.

Jun Yueyue did not know what kind of mentality had made him secretly hide the truth and not dare speak honestly. But it could not be denied that he was still the same little fool who silently brought warmth and tenderness to people, the one who made her unable to help transferring her affection, the one who made her want to do it all over again even after death.

But Jun Yueyue also thought of some other things. For example, since he could control zombies, that first time at the beginning, he had probably deliberately let himself get bitten. He had deceived her so badly and even used the opportunity to press her against the sink and vent. At that time, he had probably just remembered those previous events. That was why, at the very beginning, Jun Yueyue had felt something was off about him. She had even felt afraid for a moment because of the dark emotions leaking from him.

But that really counted as a very harmless prank. He had only tormented her. Jun Yueyue quickly thought it over in her heart. Although she felt somewhat amused and helpless about Fang Anyu’s little schemes, she still did her best to play along. After all, in their previous life, she had been the one who wronged him.

So Jun Yueyue carefully cupped Fang Anyu’s face and said sincerely, “No matter what you become, I love you.”

This time, Fang Anyu was not pretending. He was truly happy because of what Jun Yueyue said. His eyes seemed to have stars exploding inside them, filled with dazzling fragments of light.

Holding the pen, he quickly wrote again:

—Really? Even if my face is left with an ugly scar, even if when I use my ability I turn into a zombie, and maybe one day I won’t be able to change back and might even bite people, you still won’t leave me?

After Jun Yueyue read it, she raised her brows slightly. For a moment, her emotions were a little complicated. She did not know whether Fang Anyu’s petty-mindedness had accumulated over two lifetimes, or whether he had been like this in their previous life too and she simply had not noticed.

But she really… did not dislike this petty side of Fang Anyu. After all, she understood Fang Anyu’s true nature.

So she lifted her head and kissed Fang Anyu’s lips.

“Of course I won’t. I’m your wife now.”

Fang Anyu threw away the paper and pen and pulled Jun Yueyue into his arms. He no longer suppressed his joy. He lifted Jun Yueyue off the ground, spun her around once, and only then put her down.

Jun Yueyue could not help laughing too. After her feet touched the floor, she dodged Fang Anyu’s kisses pecking all over the place and said between laughter and helplessness, “Hurry up and get ready to wash up. Then we’ll go downstairs and eat with everyone. This isn’t a suitable place to stay for long. Today, we need to find a way back to the base.”

Hearing this, Fang Anyu obediently nodded. Finally, he pecked Jun Yueyue’s lips, and the two of them began washing up simply.

Because this was a sanatorium, everyone found a storeroom and discovered some daily necessities, as well as a batch of brand-new patient gowns.

When Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu changed into striped clothes, she even thought they looked a bit like couple outfits. But when everyone gathered in the lobby and all of them were wearing the same striped outfits while discussing how to get out of here, Jun Yueyue had the illusion that they were patients in a mental hospital discussing their escape.

Because they had only brought emergency supplies yesterday, there was only enough food for one meal for so many people. Most of them did not eat their fill and only padded their stomachs. They also could not find anything edible inside or outside the sanatorium. In the end, everyone could only drink enough water to feel full. After taking a headcount, they began following their plan.

First, several people split into two groups and went to the distant walls on both sides of the gate, making knocking sounds to attract the zombies.

Without the control of second-stage zombies, although the zombies outside had not left, they were only wandering around. Only when they heard sounds or smelled living people would they start howling and lunging to kill.

The two groups went to the two sides of the wall respectively. Standing on stools moved out from the rooms and holding iron rods, they shouted and knocked by the wall.

Without second-stage zombies controlling them, this method was quite effective. Very soon, the zombies at the gate scattered. Although they were not all attracted away, it was already enough for them to drive the truck out.

After Jun Yu got out of the truck, she stood in front of the iron gate and placed her hand on it. The gate, which looked cold and like an iron hedgehog, began to move as if it were alive. The iron vines wrapped around the two gate panels slowly withdrew downward inch by inch. Before long, the gate returned to normal.

The zombies pierced onto the iron gate collapsed to the ground. Those whose brains had not been pierced were still alive. They struggled to climb up, their bellies split open and intestines spilling out as they lunged toward the gate again.

Jun Yu took two steps back and staggered slightly. Her ability had only awakened yesterday, and then had been completely exhausted. Today, she had not fully recovered yet. Opening this gate had already drained her strength. After Li Li helped her climb back onto the truck, she fell asleep.

The people knocking on the walls to attract zombies quickly threw down their rods and ran toward the truck. Once everyone got in, Ji Fei directly drove the truck forward and crashed through the gate, which had only been held shut by a thin bolt to begin with.

The group crushed the zombie bodies on the ground under the wheels and knocked down all the zombies blocking the road. Finally, they drove away from the sanatorium.

On this trip, they had only rescued six living people, including two children. But in last night’s terrifying battle, they themselves had lost more than a dozen people. If counted like a business deal, this was a loss.

But the dead people had no complaints. Even after being scratched or bitten, they had still fought alongside everyone until they turned into zombies. Xiao Ding had died in yesterday’s battle, but today, everyone would still head to his family’s address to rescue his family, whose fate remained unknown.

The living were not filled only with grief either. They were still full of gratitude. They were not the only group left in this apocalypse. They were grateful that they were alive, and also grateful that their group at least still held hope. At least they were still willing to risk danger to save people. The ability users did not act superior. They shared the same things as everyone else, and they had not twisted their humanity just because order had collapsed.

That was the rarest thing in such a world.

The group’s next destination was Xiao Ding’s home address. As they drove there, they encountered no accidents. There were quite a few zombies wandering the streets, but without the command of second-stage zombies, they would not gather together into a large scale, so their destructive power was limited. Especially against a large truck like this—if they could not climb it, they could not reach the people inside, and they could not keep up with the truck’s speed either.

Following the address Xiao Ding had left, they found his apartment building. There were not many zombies wandering inside the residential compound. They drove around the building repeatedly and did not stop in one place, to avoid attracting too many zombies and causing trouble.

Jun Yueyue and the others took the two strength-mutated ability users from the truck and went straight into the building. But when they reached Xiao Ding’s door and knocked for a while, no one answered. Jun Yueyue directly used force and ripped the door open.

Unfortunately, Xiao Ding’s wife and child were not at home. Where they had gone was impossible to know.

The truck circled around the compound. If there were survivors, they would definitely notice and open a window to call for help. But regrettably, aside from the howls of zombies, the whole compound was dead silent. Not a single survivor called for help.

When everyone left this compound, their mood was heavy. The next destination was the home of a woman in the base called Big Sister Xu Zhou.

Xu Zhou was with everyone in the back of the truck. The closer they got to her home, the more panic filled her heart. She was afraid her family would be like Xiao Ding’s family—whereabouts unknown, life or death uncertain.

The truck sped along the road. Their next stop was Xu Zhou’s address. When they arrived, they discovered that this residential compound had actually been sealed off. The entrance was blocked by a huge pile of miscellaneous items. Inside, there were no wandering zombies to be seen. It was completely quiet.

The ability users were still the first to go in and check. Following Xu Zhou’s home address, they entered the stairwell. This place was very strange. There were no zombies, but they also did not see a single living person.

Jun Yueyue still planned to knock first. If no one answered, they would open the door and check the room.

But when they followed the unit number and found the apartment, they discovered that the door was actually open. Not only that, almost all the doors were open. There were scorched marks on them too. They had not been opened normally, but violently broken open.

As they walked all the way here, everyone’s heart was full of doubt. Jun Yueyue looked at the marks on the doors. They did not look like welding marks, and they were even less likely to have been caused by fire. She thought of the ability users she had seen in her previous life. Once, when they had encountered another team collecting supplies, she had also seen this kind of scorched mark. At that time, there had been a lightning-type ability user in that group.

Could there be a lightning-type ability user in this building?

Just as Jun Yueyue and the ability users were hesitating, they suddenly heard faint shouting from outside. They quickly went downstairs and exited the building. Only then did they hear that the sound was coming from the main gate, in the direction where they had parked the truck.

They began running that way. Everyone’s speed was not slow, and they soon turned the corner of the building. In front of their truck parked at the entrance, there was also a small car stopped there. Several people were standing below, seemingly arguing.

Only when they ran closer did they see that three or four men were confronting a tall, burly Black man whose clothes looked extremely tight. Jun Yueyue and the others were a little stunned and slightly slowed their steps. But Fang Anyan recognized with one glance that the tall, large Black man was none other than Ji Fei from this morning!

Seeing that the man opposite Ji Fei had raised his hand, and that the movement was clearly aimed at Ji Fei, Fang Anyan shouted explosively, “What are you doing!”

Without hesitation, he threw a fireball. It landed right in front of the man who had raised his hand.

After yesterday’s battle of attrition, everyone’s abilities had improved greatly. Fang Anyan’s fireballs were not small to begin with. After last night’s upgrade and his urgency just now, the power and size of this fireball multiplied. When it landed, it flared up to the height of a person.

The man was nearly burned and backed away several steps in shock. He withdrew the crackling electricity in his hand and turned to look at the group running out of the compound, his eyes full of vigilance.

In the blink of an eye, the group had already run to the gate. Fang Anyan was the first to arrive. He grabbed the Black man, who was a head taller than him, and pulled him behind himself, shielding him like a mother hen protecting her chicks. His voice was low and gentle as he asked, “Are you all right?”

What could possibly have happened to Ji Fei?

She had only stayed in the truck because she needed to look after the people in the back, and because her ability was not offensive. But just now, she had also discovered something very interesting and had been about to test its effect.

Unexpectedly, before she could test it, they had returned.

The four men who had argued with Ji Fei were covered in goosebumps by Fang Anyan’s tone. After all, that soft tone being used toward a nearly one-metre-ninety Black man had the same effect as saying to an elephant, “You naughty little thing.”

But what truly made them break out in goosebumps was not that.

It was that the powerful Black man from just now, right before their eyes, had his bones collapse, limbs shrink, and in an unbelievably fantastical transformation, became a beautiful young woman.

Ji Fei shook her head at Fang Anyan and turned to glance at the men behind her. This live transformation effect was even more realistic than 4D. The men were directly dumbfounded.

Fang Anyan reached out and tidied Ji Fei’s hair. Ji Fei pulled him and said quietly, “I discovered something fun. I’ll tell you later.”

Li Li had already stepped forward and asked, “What’s going on? Who are you?”

The four men finally moved their gazes away from Ji Fei and quickly came back to their senses. After all, the world itself had already become magical. They had been living normal lives, but after one night’s sleep, it was as if they had transmigrated into a zombie game. Dead people wandered the streets, loved ones became man-eating monsters. After these days, most of them had already become numb. So although they were surprised by Ji Fei’s change, they did not stay stunned for very long.

After all, this world could no longer be explained by science. Among them, there was even someone who could emit high-intensity electricity. So they quickly returned to normal.

“We should be the ones asking that,” the leading man among the four said. “This is our territory. What are you doing here? Trying to steal supplies? Hurry up and leave!”

Although the man was shocked by Fang Anyan and Ji Fei’s abilities, his attitude remained very tough. At a time like this, Li Li was the most suitable person to show off, because he was usually a king of pretentiousness anyway. So his brows furrowed, and his aura fully opened up.

“Can you speak properly?” Li Li said. “Who cares about stealing your stuff? We only came to look for someone.”

“What person?” the leading man said. “Most of the people in this compound are dead. We’ve registered the rest. Who are you looking for?”

“She’s called Yueya!” At this moment, Big Sister Xu Zhou, who had been anxious in the truck, spoke. She leaned over the railing and said to the man, “This is my family’s compound. My name is Xu Zhou. My daughter is called Yueya!”

She had not spoken after seeing this man because she had never seen him in this compound before.

But when she heard him say they had records, Xu Zhou immediately became excited. “Medium-length hair, fair and clean-looking, seventeen or eighteen years old!”

The leading man looked at Xu Zhou, paused, and frowned. “I think there is someone like that.”

Xu Zhou was so excited she almost jumped down from the truck. She smiled through her joy and looked toward Jun Yueyue and the others. Jun Yueyue stepped forward a few paces and poked Li Li from behind. Li Li immediately opened his mouth reflexively.

“Big brother, may I ask your surname? Do you have many survivors? Is there enough food? Is your living situation safe? We have a resort…”

Li Li began chatting with the leading man. They learned that he was indeed a lightning-type ability user, named Huai Wenzhi, and was indeed the leader among the survivors in this compound. This time, he had taken several young, strong men out to look for medicine.

They all lived in one of the unit buildings. There were more than twenty survivors, and he was the only ability user. In fact, there had been more than fifty survivors at the beginning, but half of them had died while clearing the zombies from the compound. His lightning ability had learned to use electric arcs through killing zombies. It was highly lethal and could easily blow apart zombie heads. It could also open the doors in the compound.

After they blocked the entrance of the compound, they had not gone out at first. Instead, they searched all the homes here and moved the food they found into the unit building where they lived. There was also a supermarket inside the compound, so they could hold out for quite a long time.

But among them were elderly people—one with heart disease and one with high blood pressure. This time, they had risked going out to find the medicine the elderly usually took. There were pharmacies nearby, but they had not found it, so they had no choice but to go farther away.

Hearing this, Li Li immediately said, “What medicine? We have it!”

“We cleared out an entire pharmacy,” Li Li said. “We have all kinds of medicine. We also have a young nurse who can give injections and IVs. I introduced it to you earlier too. We’re staying at a resort, the one newly opened in Pingchuan some time ago. As long as the drawbridge is raised, no zombies can get in…”

Li Li began another round of persuasion. Xu Zhou was unbearably anxious in the truck, but Li Li was indeed very suited to fooling people. Jun Yueyue and the others listened as he spoke eloquently, forcibly describing the resort they had only just cleaned out as a paradise on earth, a secluded utopia, as if not going there would be a lifelong regret.

He also used the mutations of their group to win over this lightning-type mutant, attracting him with the idea of strong people joining forces. He talked about how they had special training methods, how they could safely advance their abilities, and casually boasted about their two encounters with second-stage zombies, how many people they had rescued from zombie tides, and so on.

After this round of persuasion, not only Huai Wenzhi, but even the three young men behind him looked at Li Li with admiration.

Jun Yueyue felt that if Li Li were not a domineering CEO, he could probably achieve results in a pyramid scheme.

Finally, after Li Li made a speakerphone call with the base, Huai Wenzhi completely dispelled his doubts. However, he did not make an immediate decision. He only said he needed to go back and ask his companions for their opinions.

Li Li readily agreed and said he would bring a few people along to help persuade them. He called Xu Zhou, who was already anxious beyond words, down from the truck. This time, Ji Fei and Fang Anyu stayed at the gate, while the rest followed upstairs.

Fang Anyu was no longer playing the role of a delicate flower. After the two of them cleared the air, Fang Anyu had confessed all of his abilities. Now he stayed in the truck, responsible for keeping watch on the surrounding zombies. Ji Fei, of course, remained the driver.

The remaining people followed them into the unit building.

The survivors all lived on the top floor. This was a small detached building. Judging from the current situation, it was indeed still a fairly good place. The water and electricity had not been cut off yet, and there were no zombies wandering in the compound. They simply stayed inside and did not go out. Their food was just rather monotonous.

However, as Li Li walked, he did not forget to persuade Huai Wenzhi.

“You haven’t encountered second-stage zombies before, right? This place looks fine now, but even the country has fallen. We came from Qiuhai City. How long do you think water and electricity can last? Think about it. It’s already been half a month. I estimate it won’t be long.”

Li Li said, “Not to mention you’re living in a high-rise. Once water and electricity stop, life immediately becomes unsustainable. Besides, if zombies around here advance later, and second-stage zombies bring a zombie tide, even if you don’t go out, sooner or later you’ll be trapped to death.”

Huai Wenzhi had not expected Li Li to be so talkative. Not only had his earlier arrogance at the gate disappeared, now he only knew how to nod and say, “Right.”

After everyone went upstairs, Huai Wenzhi knocked on every door and gathered everyone into the stairwell before explaining the situation.

Li Li also spoke beside him. Xu Zhou finally saw her daughter. However, her daughter came out of the room with her shoulders hunched and looked somewhat dazed.

Coming out from the same room were three boys. Two were very tall, and one was shorter. The shorter one had his shoulders hunched and his face bruised and swollen, as if he had been badly beaten.

That kind of injury could not have been caused by zombies. It could only have been a fight between young people.

This kind of thing was not unusual. But while everyone began to be tempted and started asking about the resort in scattered words, Jun Yueyue’s sharp eyes noticed that the girl hugging Xu Zhou had some hard-to-describe stains on the parts of her legs not covered by her skirt. The girl quickly wiped them away herself. Also, her legs were visibly trembling.

And the two tall boys were looking at Xu Zhou evasively.

The resort was indeed a good place. That was obvious. Everyone was not stupid either. There had been no rescue for so many days. Those who had gone out to find supplies had returned saying the entire city had fallen. Now, hearing Li Li and the others say that other cities had fallen too, these people understood that waiting was useless. Once the water and electricity were cut, they would face a dead end. If they wanted even one bite of food then, they would have to go out and face those terrifying living dead.

So everyone quickly agreed to transfer to the resort together and began packing. Everyone carried things downstairs together.

Xu Zhou kept holding her daughter and cried terribly. But when everyone began moving supplies, she did not say anything more to her daughter. Instead, she also helped carry things.

On the first trip down, the obstacles at the gate were cleared away by everyone working together. The truck drove to the bottom of the unit building. A few people stayed at the compound entrance to watch for wandering zombies and stop them from coming in. The people on the truck all jumped down. Everyone helped one another, and very quickly, they loaded into the truck all the supplies everyone had gathered from the compound over these days.

The truck was very large. These supplies only covered the bottom. Everyone went upstairs again. This time, the young helped the elderly. Because Jun Yueyue was strength-mutated, she kept helping carry heavy things. When it was finally time to get into the truck, she did not go to the front. Instead, she sat at the back.

She had discovered something. While moving supplies, she had actually been intentionally and unintentionally observing that little girl who always had her shoulders hunched, said little, and had a pale face.

Jun Yueyue remembered that Xu Zhou had said her daughter was a very lively and adorable girl. When she smiled, her eyes looked like crescent moons. The two of them were mother and daughter in a single-parent household. Her husband had died in an accident very early. But because Xu Zhou was a corporate manager, their standard of living was quite good, and the mother and daughter had a particularly close relationship.

But from the moment they met, Jun Yueyue had unintentionally noticed this little girl. She had not smiled once, not even when she saw Xu Zhou. Xu Zhou probably thought her daughter had been frightened silly, but Jun Yueyue could tell that she was probably not frightened by zombies. Instead, she was frightened by the three boys who occasionally passed near her. Even if they merely brushed past, she would hunch her shoulders and visibly tremble.

Women’s thoughts were often meticulous. Jun Yueyue had already guessed what had happened. She was especially disgusted by this kind of thing. Even though she had once experienced a world where one could sleep with men or women for potatoes, that world had not involved coercion. Especially at the start of the apocalypse, what happened was usually this kind of disgusting forced act.

Those who usually looked like human beings, once they realized the world’s order had collapsed and there were no laws to restrain them, became extremely ridiculous in terms of morality.

Jun Yueyue had seen a lot. Using her own humble ability, which had once made life difficult for her too, she had helped some people. So she had a very sharp eye for this sort of thing.

The truck started and drove toward the resort. The supplies at the resort, even with these added, were still not enough. They would still need to go out and collect more. Just not now. Right now, they needed to return to the resort to rest and also settle the new members.

And Jun Yueyue needed to handle the rotten matter she had noticed.

As the vehicle drove, Fang Anyu kept helping control the zombies. Midway through the journey, they encountered a small zombie tide led by a second-stage zombie. But Fang Anyu quickly killed the second-stage zombie directly.

Aside from this small incident, the journey was fairly smooth. Jun Yueyue kept moving closer to the girl, speaking to her with a faint smile. The girl was guarded toward her at first, but soon she was willing to answer one or two sentences, showing that she was normally quite easy-going.

Jun Yueyue only asked her what she had eaten these days and whether she had encountered zombies. She very cleverly avoided asking about how she had been getting along with those classmates. The truck travelled for a full half hour, and they finally returned to the resort drawbridge entrance.

Li Li spoke to Fatty on the phone. Soon, the drawbridge passage opened. Watching the drawbridge slowly extend toward them, Huai Wenzhi’s tightly furrowed brows finally relaxed.

The truck smoothly drove onto the drawbridge. After they crossed, the people who had stayed behind at the base were already waiting at the entrance.

The truck bed opened. Some people were happy, some were sorrowful. After all, many of their own people had died during this trip, and among them were the relatives and friends of those who had stayed behind.

The truck drove into the courtyard and stopped. Everyone came down from the truck bed. While everyone was looking around, Jun Yueyue helped the girl called Yueya stand up. Then, suddenly changing the subject, she asked, “Were you willing?”

Yueya was very smart. Along the way, she knew Jun Yueyue had already seen through the topics Jun Yueyue had avoided. But she had not expected Jun Yueyue to say it out loud, to ask her like this. She turned to look at Jun Yueyue in shock. This was the first lively emotion a young girl should have that Jun Yueyue had seen from her since they met.

Xu Zhou still did not understand what was going on. Just as she was about to pull Yueya down from the truck, Jun Yueyue gently but firmly held Yueya’s hand and asked, “Just tell Sister whether you were willing. Leave the rest to me.”

Yueya lowered her head. On the pale skin of her neck, in the area usually covered by her collar, there was a faint mark. But it quickly stabbed Xu Zhou’s eyes.

Her tears instantly fell. She hugged the trembling Yueya, wiped her tears fiercely, and asked, “Who bullied you? Tell Mum! Mum will fight them to the death!”

“Weren’t you with your classmates?” Xu Zhou asked again.

At the word “classmates,” Yueya visibly trembled.

Xu Zhou’s eyes immediately turned red. She glanced at Jun Yueyue, then gritted her teeth and pulled Yueya down from the truck.

Jun Yueyue frowned and helped the mother and daughter down. Originally, she had only wanted to ask once and then handle it privately. But Xu Zhou had clearly gone mad. That was understandable. Any mother would go mad in this kind of situation.

Besides, society had already collapsed. There was no need to care about reputation. After getting off the truck, Xu Zhou went straight toward the three boys standing together. Those three boys had clearly heard the commotion from this side. At first, they apologized, but as they apologized, they actually began grappling with Xu Zhou and were about to get physical.

No one understood what was happening. But just as Li Li was preparing to go forward and stop them, Jun Yueyue walked that way. Halfway there, she paused beside Ji Fei and said, “Lend me your gun.”

Then she directly took the gun from Ji Fei’s waist.

Ji Fei did not stop her. In any case, there were no bullets left.

Jun Yueyue had chosen this thing only because it was more intimidating than shouting or even breaking someone’s bones.

Xu Zhou was clearly no match for strong young boys. Yueya wanted to go forward to help her mother and pull her mother away, but one of the boys grabbed Yueya’s hair and shouted, “You told your mum?! Do you have no shame? How did you say it—”

His voice cut off abruptly because Jun Yueyue’s gun barrel was pressed against his head.

Both sides, who had been fighting with red eyes, stopped. The boy also let go of Yueya’s hair. Xu Zhou and Yueya hugged each other and cried. Everyone looked over. More than half of them understood what was going on.

Holding the gun, Jun Yueyue pointed it at each of the three boys in turn. Then, in a tone that could be called calm, she asked, “Who was involved? Or was it all of you? Who started it? Talk.”

“Big sister, put the gun down first. She!” the boy who had first been pointed at by the gun said. “She seduced—ah!”

Jun Yueyue smashed the butt of the gun into him, making blood spurt from his mouth and nose. Someone in the crowd cried out in alarm. The boy screamed as if his heart were being torn apart. Yueya trembled even more violently.

Jun Yueyue asked another one, “Who started it?”

The tall boy standing in the middle swallowed. After looking around at everyone, he stiffened his neck and said, “Uncle Huai! Are you not going to care about us anymore?”

“This woman is crazy! You coaxed us into coming here, and this is how you treat us?”

Jun Yueyue suddenly smiled. This brat really knew how to incite people. Sure enough, someone spoke up, and questioning voices came from the crowd.

But Jun Yueyue turned to look at Huai Wenzhi. “Did you know? If you knew about this, or if any of you knew and didn’t care, this base does not welcome you.”

How could Huai Wenzhi have known about such a thing? He immediately shook his head. He had decided where everyone would live, and the rest had been freely arranged. These few were classmates, and there was also an elderly person in the room… Ah, the one with heart disease.

But who would have known something like this would happen?

Huai Wenzhi looked on the verge of collapse. Jun Yueyue looked at the three boys and asked the last one, “And you? Were you involved?”

“No!” That boy was the one with a bruised and swollen face. He was trembling no less than Yueya. He lifted his head and said, “They forced me, but I didn’t! It was them, it was them… It has nothing to do with me!”

The moment he shouted this, the boy beside him immediately kicked him.

“Bullshit! The idea was yours! Isn’t she your girlfriend?”

Yueya cried so hard she was about to faint. Xu Zhou’s eyes were blood red. By now, things had basically been made clear. Jun Yueyue said, “The world has already collapsed, and there is no prison for you to sit in now. But people like you cannot stay here.”

Jun Yueyue pointed at the drawbridge, which had not yet been raised.

“Get out. All three of you.”

No one spoke. The three boys glanced toward the other side of the drawbridge. When the truck had driven over, wandering zombies had already followed them onto the bridge, not to mention that several were blocking the far side. Going over there now meant death.

“I didn’t touch her! I’m not leaving!” the bruised boy said. “On what grounds? Are you police or judges? This is murder!”

“Exactly!” another boy shouted too. “She’s just a slut. She seduced us!”

“And what right do you have to make us leave? You brought us here. If you want us to leave, you have to send us out!”

“She’s cheap! If you don’t believe me, ask her! Wasn’t she willing? Wearing such a short skirt… she’s just cheap!” the boy who had been hit by Jun Yueyue with the gun butt shouted hoarsely. He even reached out to grab Yueya.

The fact that Jun Yueyue had managed to suppress herself until now meant she had truly reached her limit. Unable to endure any longer, she lowered the gun and grabbed the neck of the boy who was still shouting that Yueya was cheap and trying to rush forward to hit someone. Her hand tightened.

Crack—

His throat bone was directly crushed by Jun Yueyue. His neck and entire body went limp and drooped down.

“This is murder,” Jun Yueyue said. “When you did that kind of thing, weren’t you relying on the fact that the world had collapsed and no one could control you anymore? Since you know order has collapsed, then you should also know killing no longer breaks the law, right?”

Jun Yueyue let go and pointed to the other side of the bridge.

“Now either get out, or I’ll send you on your way.”

One of the two remaining boys had already wet himself in terror, but both still stood where they were without moving. Everyone subconsciously stepped back, especially the newcomers.

At this moment, Li Li stepped forward and said, “Leave. This place doesn’t accept beasts.”

Fang Anyu had been watching the whole time. Now, he ran to her side, tugged at his own clothes, and wiped Jun Yueyue’s hand. Meeting Jun Yueyue’s out-of-control gaze, he forcibly pulled her aside.

The two boys still did not move. Now they truly were no longer arrogant. They knelt on the ground, crying and begging for mercy. Li Li looked like he was in charge, so one of them hugged his leg. In the end, Li Li kicked him so hard he nearly vomited blood.

Before long, they realized no one was pleading for them, no one was stopping this. By the time they understood that they had brought this on themselves, it was already too late. They had no choice but to walk onto the drawbridge.

Zombies were waiting at the other end of the drawbridge. But when they had walked halfway, Fatty pressed the switch to raise the bridge.

Jun Yueyue had already been pulled by Fang Anyu toward the small village area. She did not see the two unrepentant little beasts being tipped off the mountain. She only felt waves of nausea churning in her stomach, as if those cold nightmares of the past had returned. In the end, she staggered. Just as she was about to fall forward, she was caught by a pair of hands as gentle and warm as always.

She fell into a broad chest.

Jun Yueyue closed her eyes and leaned into it.
