MDMSC Chapter 63

Sweetness

As soon as the others laughed, Lei Ze immediately realized he might have misjudged the situation.

But judging by the way these people had protected that man in the middle earlier, if this were stage packaging, he would be the centre position. How could he not be the one in charge?

For a moment, Lei Ze stood there awkwardly, his expression slightly cracking. However, this was clearly not a good time for jokes. The two teams keeping watch would still occasionally clash with zombies wandering over from the street. Li Li quickly stepped forward, blocking Lei Ze’s line of sight toward Fang Anyu, and said, “Hello. I’m the person in charge of the resort, Li Li.”

As soon as he put on that seasoned businessman air, Lei Ze, who had previously sold grilled skewers, was instantly a little flustered. He quickly reached out and shook Li Li’s hand tightly, even bending slightly at the waist. But he soon realized that this lowered his image, so he straightened again, made his expression solemn, and said, “Hello. I’m Lei Ze, the person in charge of Thunder Squad.”

Jun Yueyue forcefully suppressed her laughter.

The name Thunder Squad really sounded very familiar, and also a little chuunibyou. When she had been a member of the squad before, she had not felt that Lei Ze’s whole thing was childish at all. After all, it was true that he was warm-hearted, true that he was a retired soldier, true that he had saved countless people, and true that although the base he eventually established was not large, under those conditions at the time, it had indeed been the most peaceful. Thunder Squad could also be considered a well-known team in the apocalypse.

But perhaps because she knew everything in this life, Jun Yueyue inexplicably found the title very embarrassing.

Li Li, however, looked completely normal, without the slightest sign of being embarrassed. After all, during his own chuunibyou phase, he had once founded the Green Tiger Gang.

Zombie corpses were scattered all over the ground. The stink floated three miles downwind. When everyone had been fighting, their attention had been focused elsewhere, so they had not cared too much. But once they stopped, the waves of suffocating stench hit them, and they began covering their mouths and noses with whatever they had.

Only Li Li, silver-tongued as ever, chatted warmly with Lei Ze.

However, when Lei Ze said, “Our squad still has companions,” his expression clearly became more serious. His eyes fixed on Li Li without shifting, not missing even the slightest change in his expression, as he said, “They are all survivors of this disaster. If we enter the resort, we must bring them with us. We are one whole.”

He did not say that his companions were all ordinary people. He avoided the main point and emphasized that those companions were very important to them.

The meaning was very clear.

You’ve seen our abilities. If you want us to join, you must accept our companions too.

Li Li did not ask what kind of people those companions were. After all, ability users were not especially common. The fact that this entire squad consisted of ability users already surprised him greatly.

Besides, they wanted to establish a base at the resort. A base could not only have ability users. They also needed ordinary people responsible for production, food, and all kinds of miscellaneous tasks. Moreover, after training, ordinary people’s combat strength was not to be underestimated. Of course, the more ability users they had, the better, but they had even less prejudice against ordinary people.

So Li Li only asked, “How many companions do you have?”

Lei Ze immediately became alert.

It was not that they had not asked other bases before. Some had indeed allowed them to bring companions, but the number was only limited to family members. In total, they had more than a hundred people, all in a village around Pingchuan. It was near mountains and water, and they had a decent food reserve, but it was not a suitable place to settle long-term. From time to time, zombies chasing animals would come down from the mountain behind the village and attack them.

That was truly dangerous. If one day the patrol was careless and zombies entered the village and bit someone, the consequences would be unimaginable.

That was why Lei Ze was anxious to find another place to settle. They had no way to build up defenses around the little village, nor did they have the manpower. Among their companions, there were many old people, weak people, women, and children, but very few strong laborers.

So Lei Ze wanted to find a decent base and merge into it first. Only then could everyone’s safety be guaranteed.

Hearing Li Li ask this, Lei Ze immediately became nervous. He did not first give the number. Instead, he said, “If our companions merge into your resort, they can eat our own stored rations. Also, we can act as the main force when going out to search for supplies. Most of what we find can be handed over, and a small portion can be distributed to our companions.”

That meant they would only be borrowing a place to stay. They would handle their own food and drink, would hand over most supplies, and would also add so many ability users to the base. This was already the greatest concession Lei Ze could make. If he had not truly taken a liking to the resort’s location, he would never have made such a promise so easily.

But after Li Li heard this, he exchanged glances with the people behind him and shook his head. “Forming little factions won’t do.”

Lei Ze’s expression darkened.

He thought, as expected.

Even though this group did not look like they had especially powerful abilities, they were still the same as the rulers in other bases. In front of benefits, their greedy mouths could never be filled.

“Then…” Lei Ze wanted to say forget it. They could keep looking, continue searching, and find a place absolutely suitable for settling. Worst case, they would build their own base and then save more survivors.

But Li Li interrupted him. “In our base, everything is distributed uniformly. Supplies are, and daily necessities too.”

“Weaker ordinary people are responsible for planting, sanitation, food preparation, and so on,” Li Li said. “Adults with combat ability must all receive training and go out to fight.”

“If you want to join us, you must hand over all supplies. Clothing, food, housing, and transportation will all be uniformly allocated by our designated people,” Li Li said. “No special privileges. Ability users and ordinary people receive the same share of food, clothing, and daily necessities. Everyone contributes in different directions, but there is no distinction of high or low status.”

These words directly stunned Lei Ze.

Absolute fairness, something impossible to achieve even in real society, could still be seen in the apocalypse?

Was the man in front of him really not talking in his sleep?

Seeing him frozen, Li Li turned back and exchanged another glance with Jun Yueyue. Then he said, “If you insist on forming a small faction, then the resort does not welcome you. We can give you a small car to drive away from here. That’s all.”

Jun Yueyue was just about to speak.

She understood Lei Ze’s nature and knew what kind of person he was. She really wanted him to join the base. The resort was huge, but now there were too few survivors. During the day, the entire base felt empty. They needed fresh blood, whether ability users or ordinary people.

However, before she could speak, Lei Ze reacted and immediately grabbed Li Li’s hand, shaking it forcefully. The stiff official tone he had been forcing earlier instantly scattered. His voice carried obvious urgency. “We want to join! Including ability users and ordinary people, we have a total of one hundred and ten people!”

Their squad only had seven people right now. In other words, the rest were all ordinary people.

But Lei Ze looked at the base leader in front of him, who called himself Li Li, and at the others around him. None of them showed any strange expression. They naturally accepted this result.

Lei Ze’s eyes instantly filled with tears, red as if he had been punched twice.

Damn it. Who said there were no good people in the apocalypse?

Seven ability users and more than a hundred ordinary people meant more than a hundred mouths waiting to be fed. The seven of them spent almost all day outside looking for all kinds of food and supplies, but that was only possible because they still had stored food as a foundation.

Lei Ze had not held much hope in the first place. He had not expected that someone would truly be willing to accept a team like this…

For a moment, this fierce man shed tears. Lei Ze clutched Li Li’s hand like an old farmer from a disaster-stricken poor county finally meeting a leader.

Because it was too embarrassing, he choked several times.

“Can we go to your base and take a look first?” Lei Ze finally forced out with his old face flushed red.

Of course, there was nothing wrong with that.

Everyone had finished discussing and was just about to leave when suddenly, the people keeping watch ahead shouted, “Zombie tide! Retreat into the building!”

From here, running to the opposite side of the road was definitely farther than entering the building. Moreover, zombie tides were usually driven by second-level zombies. Without knowing how many second-level zombies there were, if they ran with people onto the drawbridge and the zombie horde followed, it would not only be difficult to fight there, but if too many zombies stood on the bridge, raising it could easily damage the folding bridge panels.

So when they saw the zombie horde howling as it rushed over, Jun Yueyue’s group exchanged glances and ran into the building with everyone else.

The zombie tide surged in, and everyone retreated into the building. The zombies scattered and surrounded the office building, howling. Jun Yueyue’s group looked down from upstairs and relaxed slightly. It was only a small wave, a few dozen at most. Fortunately, it was not a large zombie tide.

Jun Yueyue and Li Li turned their heads at the same time and asked Fang Anyu, who had his eyes closed, “How many?”

Fang Anyu opened his eyes. The gray-white color in them faded. He raised his arm and made a V sign.

Li Li said, “This is not the time to act cute!”

Jun Yueyue kicked Li Li. “He means two!”

“Oh, then that’s okay.” Li Li turned to look at Lei Ze.

He had originally been about to discuss how to fight their way out, but then he saw Lei Ze and his companions huddled in front of a window, sharing a small piece of compressed biscuit.

Their expressions were all unbearably gloomy.

The room was not large. Even though Lei Ze’s voice was very soft, Jun Yueyue’s group could still hear him clearly. “Don’t swallow too quickly. This is my only remaining stock. Before our abilities recover tomorrow, we all have to hold on.”

“What are you doing?” Li Li asked.

Then Jun Yueyue watched as Lei Ze, like someone caught doing something bad, trembled. The piece of biscuit that had been divided among several people, with a small bit still left, fell directly to the ground.

Lei Ze looked over in something close to panic, his face rapidly turning red. “We… we’re ability users. We need food more.”

“Don’t worry. There are so many zombies downstairs. Once our abilities recover tomorrow, we’ll lead the brothers and take you out.” Saying this, Lei Ze straightened his back a little, feeling that he had gained some justification. “You must have eaten this morning. We haven’t eaten much since yesterday. You can go hungry for a bit first. Tomorrow, when our abilities recover, we’ll go check out your base.”

After Lei Ze finished speaking, he paused and added, “Don’t forget, you said you would let us bring our companions into the resort.”

Li Li: “……?”

Jun Yueyue and the others: “……?”

So they were all sharing that tiny biscuit between several people and still thought this side would snatch it to eat?

The people on Jun Yueyue’s side could not help laughing again.

Lei Ze’s group all froze.

This time, Jun Yueyue spoke. “Get ready. We’ll break out in a while.”

“We’ll take the lead. You handle the rear.” After Jun Yueyue said that, she turned her head and asked Fang Anyu, “Solved?”

Fang Anyu turned his head to look at her and held up one finger.

Lei Ze’s group happened to be looking this way. When they saw Fang Anyu’s eyes, which had not yet had time to return to normal, one of them immediately shouted. Several people instantly entered combat mode. Even the precious little biscuit in their hands flew away as they shouted at Jun Yueyue’s group, “Move away! He’s infected!”

Immediately afterward, a water ball appeared out of thin air above Fang Anyu’s head.

It was only the size of a fist. It could be seen that the ability had indeed been almost fully consumed during the flashy display earlier. As soon as it formed, it burst with a puff, drenching Fang Anyu’s head with water.

Fang Anyu: “…”

He turned his head in confusion to look at Lei Ze, who had attacked.

Those eyes visibly returned to black.

Lei Ze: “……?”

Jun Yueyue asked Lei Ze, “Why are you a water-type ability user?”

In the previous life, he had clearly been fire-type.

She reached out and brushed Fang Anyu’s hair aside, saying, “Don’t be nervous. He isn’t a zombie. His ability is to control zombies. When he’s controlling them, he enters a zombified state. He doesn’t bite.”

Lei Ze’s group was shocked.

Earlier, they had guessed that someone could control zombies. But guessing was one thing. Actually seeing it was another.

However, their shock did not last long, because the zombies downstairs were still wailing. Even if someone could control them, with so many zombies, how many could he control?

Fang Anyu’s hair was wet. He stretched out his tongue and licked the water by his lips.

Sweet.

He then turned his head and continued focusing on dealing with the second-level zombies. After only a few minutes, he opened his eyes and nodded to Jun Yueyue.

“It’s fine now,” Jun Yueyue said. “Let’s go. Kill our way out.”

Lei Ze’s group was still heartbroken over that little biscuit. Hearing Jun Yueyue say this was like hearing sleep-talk. Lei Ze advised them, “There are too many zombies below. Wait until tomorrow…”

“Shh,” Li Li said. “Listen.”

Lei Ze’s voice stopped. He listened for a moment, then suddenly ran to the window. The brothers behind him also ran to the window.

They saw that the zombies, which had originally been howling fiercely while trying to smash the door and climb the walls, all seemed to have lost their command. Although they had not left, they were now wandering in place.

“The two second-level zombies have already been killed,” Jun Yueyue said. “For the rest, you just need to follow behind us.”

Lei Ze’s group actually had little strength left. But thinking of how this group had killed their way over earlier, they could not act cowardly. Gritting their teeth, he said, “Good! But the two girls and that brother who controls zombies should go to the middle. We’ll fill the positions!”

When they had been watching from upstairs earlier, the reason Jun Yueyue had killed relatively few zombies even though she led the front was because Fang Anyu had been controlling the zombies so they would not approach her. As for why Jun Yu had moved less, that was because Li Li, that little bootlicker, had snatched all the kills.

Naturally, Lei Ze assumed the two girls had poor combat strength.

Jun Yueyue pressed her lips together. Ji Fei laughed. She was still in the form of a black man and smiled warmly at Lei Ze. “Sure.”

Thus, they temporarily formed a battle formation, similar to when they had arrived. As soon as they opened the door and went out, they began fighting the zombies that lunged over after smelling living people.

Without the second-level zombies, Fang Anyu basically did not control the zombies’ movements anymore. Because everyone had been training for a long time, and because they had come out without a car precisely for real combat experience, the fighting was much more realistic than on the way in.

They still followed the method of not using abilities unless absolutely necessary. However, their circle soon began to weaken. Lei Ze gritted his teeth and endured, but his movements had slowed a lot. When an ability user exhausted their ability, not fainting and being able to keep going through sheer will already made him a true man.

But his teammates did not have Lei Ze’s perseverance. Soon, two of them could not hold on. Seeing that they were about to collapse to the ground, the circle with everyone’s backs facing inward would develop a gap. Once that happened, they would be attacked from both front and back.

Lei Ze was so anxious that cold sweat was about to come out. But just as one of the teammates beside him collapsed, Jun Yueyue reached out and grabbed the back of his neck.

A tall man was forcibly dragged into looking like a small child. She threw him into the protective circle behind her, rolled up her sleeves, pulled a specially made iron rod from her waist, spun it once around her wrist, and said, “Stay behind. I’ll do it.”

This iron rod had iron beads inside. It was hollow, and the beads flowed within it. When lifted, it saved effort. When swung out, the iron beads would shoot along the hollow interior to the front, multiplying the force several times over.

This weapon had been specially developed for strength-type mutants.

Jun Yueyue filled the gap, leisurely swung the rod, and exchanged a glance with Lei Ze beside her. Then, moving very quickly but with a relaxed expression, she smashed open the skull of an oncoming zombie with one strike.

That strength was not something an ordinary woman could possess.

She was absolutely a strength-type mutant, and an extremely powerful one who could instantly crush the two strength-type members in his squad.

One strike per zombie. Her accuracy was terrifying. She was neither flustered nor clumsy, nor was she like him, fighting in a sorry state because his knife failed to hit accurately, sometimes striking the hard part of a zombie’s skull and jolting his wrist numb.

While Lei Ze was shocked, he finally understood why this group had brought a woman out.

But what shocked him even more next was that out of the corner of his eye, he saw the other girl he had thumped his chest and insisted on protecting inside the circle also move up to fill a position.

She looked far too slender. Between her fingertips, she only held something like a nail, finger-length and sharp at both ends. It spun flexibly between her fingers. Was she going to use this against zombies?

The next moment, his guess was verified, but in a way completely beyond his expectations.

She really did use it against zombies. But when a zombie pounced over, the tiny iron nail in her hand instantly expanded. The sharp object pierced into the zombie’s head. Then, without even needing to pull it out, the iron nail instantly shrank back to finger size and returned to her hand.

Ability!

This girl had an ability!

Everyone slowly pushed toward the street. Flesh and blood flew everywhere. The fighting was in full swing. Just as they were about to reach the roadside, once they crossed the road they would reach the drawbridge. But unfortunately, another wave of zombies surged up.

This time, the number was no smaller than the group that had surrounded them earlier. Lei Ze’s teammates all showed despairing expressions. They had nowhere to run. They were about to be surrounded.

Jun Yueyue’s group’s expressions also became serious.

Fang Anyan asked Fang Anyu, “Brother, how many?”

Fang Anyu’s eyes were gray-white. He raised four fingers.

“Fuck,” Jun Yueyue cursed.

Fang Anyu had no way to control four at once.

Li Li said, “Change formation. Main attack. We rush out quickly.”

As soon as he spoke, the strength-type ability users at the front all withdrew to the back. Those who had been at the rear moved forward. Lei Ze was also pulled to the back. Just as he was about to say he could still fight, a huge fireball suddenly exploded in the air.

It enveloped those zombies in a sea of fire. Immediately afterward, a wave of visible electric arcs scattered out, coordinating with the blazing flames. It effectively halted the zombies’ earlier momentum. Everyone fought while retreating, prioritizing running toward the resort.

Fang Anyu was being carried along by Jun Yueyue and Ji Fei while focusing intently on dealing with the second-level zombies.

Ji Fei suddenly said, “I’ll try and see if I can become invisible to them after turning into a zombie. It’s too draining for Anyu to kill them from a distance!”

As Ji Fei spoke, under the stunned gazes of everyone whose mouths had opened into O-shapes, she transformed on the spot into a strong male zombie. Even the rotting flesh on her face and the nauseating smell were exactly the same.

In truth, she had tried this many times in the base. She had also tried contacting zombies whose teeth and nails had been removed. This trip out had indeed been meant to test it. But testing it in a zombie horde under these circumstances was far too risky.

However, Ji Fei had always been so brave she seemed unlike a woman.

She quickly broke away from the formation and slipped into the zombie horde.

One second, two seconds, ten seconds, thirty seconds.

Her entire body was on guard, ready to fight at any moment. But the zombies all went around her. It was as if they could not sense her at all.

Ecstasy surged across Jun Yueyue’s face.

Ji Fei quickly returned to pull Fang Anyu. Jun Yueyue hurriedly tore off a strip of armed cloth from her wrist and tied it around Ji Fei’s neck. This cloth had been made from the countryside floral quilt covers in the base. It was especially flowery and could be recognized at a glance in a crowd.

“Don’t attack the zombie with floral cloth tied around its neck! That’s one of ours!” Jun Yueyue shouted.

Ji Fei quickly pulled Fang Anyu out of the formation.

Fang Anyu directed the way. Ji Fei held a bayonet and quickly locked onto the second-level zombies’ locations. With swift movements, she killed them one after another. One was relatively far away, standing on top of a nearby shopping mall. Ji Fei and Fang Anyu rushed in, ran upstairs without much effort, and killed that second-level zombie too.

Fortunately, second-level zombies only knew how to command. Like normal zombies, they were not difficult to kill.

After the second-level zombies controlling the horde were killed, the zombies’ ferocity dropped sharply. Everyone’s abilities burst out one after another. Li Li held a gun, but what he shot were all stones. One shot, one kill, extremely precise. Fang Anyan’s fireballs and Huai Wenzhi’s lightning worked together, achieving twice the result with half the effort. Jun Yu wore specially made thorns all over her body. Every iron spike could extend and retract freely. She was practically a walking killing machine.

The remaining strength-type and speed-type ability users, under Jun Yueyue’s lead, were no worse. Iron rods flew up and down in their hands as everyone forcibly carved a path of blood.

When they crossed the road and reached the resort entrance, Ji Fei brought Fang Anyu back to the team. The drawbridge had remained open the whole time. After everyone got onto the bridge, Fang Anyan placed a fireball at the drawbridge entrance. His fire ability was such that once it stuck to something, whether that thing was suitable for burning or not, it would burn. The large fire at the drawbridge entrance blocked the zombies from entering and also stopped the zombies, who had smelled living people, from gathering closer.

Jun Yueyue pulled Fang Anyu over to check him. As soon as Ji Fei transformed back to normal, Fang Anyan pulled her over and checked her from head to toe.

Lei Ze and his squad were exhausted, leaning against the railing. Seeing Ji Fei perform another transformation on the spot, they all became completely calm.

There had simply been too many shocks today. The strength these people had just shown compared to the abilities they had displayed was the difference between flashy, useless moves and a true grandmaster.

And it was every single person.

Every single one of them had terrifying strength. Not only strength, but coordination too. They truly could not compare. Even a young girl was a walking slaughter machine. Forget those zombies. If they wanted to kill Lei Ze’s group, it would be a matter of minutes.

Everyone followed the drawbridge into the base. Diplomat Li Li stepped forward again and began introducing things to Lei Ze.

“You all look pretty tired. Come on, come on. Go in first, eat something, and rest,” Li Li said. “Are your companions all safe? Where are they staying?”

Lei Ze glanced at his squad members. Clearly, each of them was now so exhausted they had to hold the bridge railing to walk, but for the sake of gaining better terms, he gritted his teeth and said solemnly, “We’re all fine. Our companions are safe too. Let’s first discuss what conditions you can provide if we come to the resort.”

Li Li put his arm around Lei Ze’s neck like a good brother and said as they walked, “You’ll understand once you go into the base and look around. As for a place to stay, we’ve only just cleaned out one accommodation hotel here. Water and electricity are complete, the rooms have good lighting, and there’s even a swimming pool on the top floor!”

When Lei Ze heard Li Li say the water and electricity were complete, he honestly did not believe it. But after crossing the drawbridge into the base and meeting the ordinary people at the entrance, who were fully armed and guarding the bridge, each holding weapons and clearly ready to be pulled into battle at any time, he finally realized just how weak their squad was, and how weak all of their companions were.

But when he truly saw that, while his companions in the small village now had to dig out cotton and dip it in soybean oil to light lamps every night, this place really did have complete water and electricity, he simply did not know what expression he should make.

When, covered in the filth and bloodstains from fighting outside, they sat in a sightseeing cart and followed Li Li and the others around the entire resort, Lei Ze felt as if he were in an unreal world.

A single drawbridge divided the inside and outside into two worlds.

One was paradise.

One was hell.

Finally, the cart stopped in front of the accommodation hotel. Li Li led Lei Ze and his group out of the cart.

All of them were silent.

Li Li gave them time to absorb it and time to consider. In this current environment, Li Li dared say that the conditions they offered were the best.

He was not worried Lei Ze’s group would disagree.

“I can see everyone’s very tired. I’ll have people find changes of clothes in various sizes. You can pick rooms and wash up,” Li Li said. “We’re going to rest too. Think it over tonight. If you think it’s suitable, tomorrow we’ll go together to pick up your companions.”

After Li Li finished speaking, he took Jun Yueyue’s group back to rest.

All the people who had joined the fight had come along for the full tour to show importance.

In truth, Lei Ze and the others already wanted to cry and shout their agreement on the spot. Where else could they find such a good place, such good conditions? But they had some backbone and held it in. Only after Li Li left did the group huddle together, lower their voices, and cry for a while.

They no longer had to live every day and night in fear, terrified that zombies would come down from the mountain in groups. They no longer had to fear going out to find supplies and never being able to return.

Because they could all see that the ordinary people living here truly were not treated as inferior. This place was the only pure land under collapsed order.

After Lei Ze’s group finished crying, they went to wash up. Once they had cleaned themselves, someone called them to a restaurant for a meal. Seeing the four dishes and one soup on the table, they could not help their noses turning sour again.

Damn it. How long had it been since they had eaten something with proper colour, fragrance, and taste?

Their desire to join this resort became even more urgent.

Jun Yueyue’s group also went back, washed up, ate, and rested.

Fang Anyu did not seem to have consumed too much energy today. Jun Yueyue was not very tired either. It was only afternoon. After the two ate steaming bowls of noodles, they lay on the bed and talked.

Suddenly, Fang Anyu typed and asked Jun Yueyue:

Why did you keep staring at the leader of Thunder Squad today?

Jun Yueyue blinked. Fang Anyu quickly typed again:

Is he good-looking?

The previous apocalypse had been created by Fang Anyu. But at that time, because his dark emotions and grief had been too intense, the world collapsed after his death. After the apocalypse began, Jun Yueyue’s miserable circumstances were all influenced by his state of mind at the time. But as for what specifically happened, Fang Anyu only knew from what Jun Yueyue had told him. He did not know it himself.

Jun Yueyue had, of course, told him about Lei Ze before. But Fang Anyu either did not remember, or had deliberately forgotten.

The point was not who she was looking at.

The point was that she had looked at someone else.

Jun Yueyue quickly understood the central idea behind Fang Anyu’s sentence and shook her head. “No. In this world, including the last world, I have never met anyone better-looking than you.”

Jun Yueyue said this in an extremely serious tone.

Fang Anyu had thought she would explain why she had looked at Lei Ze. He had not expected her to suddenly say something nice.

He froze for a moment. Then he could not stop the corners of his mouth from lifting. Once he smiled, he could not hold it back anymore.

Jun Yueyue had coaxed this little ancestor into happiness with just one sentence. He hugged her and rolled with her twice on the quilt, making her laugh out loud.

So easy to coax.

After they stopped, Jun Yueyue rested her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat. She said, “But Lei Ze isn’t a fire-type ability user in this life. He became water-type. Two of his team members are different from the last life too.”

Fang Anyu stroked Jun Yueyue’s head, took his phone, and typed:

We are different too.

Jun Yueyue laughed again.

She felt that no matter how this world changed, as long as Fang Anyu did not change, she would be very happy.

That evening, Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu went to Li Li’s place to freeload dinner again. This time, it was not just them. Ji Fei and Fang Anyan also went.

They placed a table on the floor. It was much larger than a kang table. Six people sitting around it was just right.

The one cooking was still Li Li. He had changed into a cute little bunny apron and cursed while stir-frying, scolding the four freeloaders, Jun Yueyue and the others, before finally sitting down.

“If everything goes smoothly tomorrow and we bring those people back, we’ll settle them in the accommodation hotel. Then, for the time being, we can focus on searching the buildings and integrating the team.” Li Li opened two bottles of liquor while talking and poured some for Fang Anyan and Ji Fei.

Jun Yueyue did not like that stuff. It was spicy and tasted awful. When Li Li reached Fang Anyu’s side, he hesitated. After all, in his impression, Fang Anyu had always been delicate in a way that did not seem manly. But when facing zombies, he had never fallen behind. Li Li felt very complicated about him. He wanted to drink a little with him.

Unfortunately, as soon as he showed this intention, Fang Anyan and Jun Yueyue stopped him in unison.

“What are you doing?”

“My brother doesn’t drink!”

Li Li curled his lip and hurriedly moved the bottle back.

But at this moment, Fang Anyu lifted his cup and followed the bottle, holding it out for Li Li to pour.

Fang Anyan called, “Brother.”

Fang Anyu looked at him, his gaze carrying a soothing meaning.

Jun Yueyue did not stop him.

If Fang Anyu did not want to drink, she would block it for him. But if Fang Anyu wanted to drink, then he could drink. If he drank too much, she was there anyway. In any case, she was strong.

So Li Li raised an eyebrow at Fang Anyu and really poured him a little. However, Fang Anyu took the bottle himself and filled the cup.

Li Li laughed, raised his cup, clinked with Fang Anyu and the others, and they began eating and drinking.

While they ate, they talked about arranging those people after bringing them back and about future distribution issues. Later, Jun Yu and Jun Yueyue also drank a little red wine, though not much.

On the contrary, Fang Anyu drank the most. But while Li Li and Fang Anyan’s faces had both turned very red, Fang Anyu’s face remained cold white. He sat very upright, looking not the slightest bit drunk.

When normal people drank too much, they slurred, became chatterboxes, or collapsed onto the table. Fang Anyu did none of these. And since he could not speak, no one knew whether he was slurring. Seeing his hand holding the chopsticks steadily, everyone assumed he was not drunk at all.

When it ended, Fang Anyu stood up looking completely normal. Li Li was still shocked by his alcohol tolerance. With a slightly slurred tongue, he praised Fang Anyu as the least manly man who was still a man that he had ever seen, before Jun Yu dragged him back into the room.

Fang Anyan actually had decent alcohol tolerance. In the past, he often had to rush from one drinking appointment to another. Although he had not drunk for a while, this amount caused no reaction in him.

As for Ji Fei, this amount of alcohol only made her slightly tipsy at most. So the four of them all looked normal as they chatted and laughed while walking for a while, then each returned to their own home.

After they went back, Fang Anyu walked very slowly. The cool air outside was pleasant. Jun Yueyue was not in a hurry to go inside either, so she walked slowly with Fang Anyu along the climbing vines.

But as they walked, a rose blocked her path.

The rose vine moved like a living thing, extending in front of Jun Yueyue. Its delicate flower trembled and rubbed against her cheek.

Jun Yueyue turned her head to look at Fang Anyu. Fang Anyu held her hand and stood quietly, smiling at her.

His dimples were deep, sweet enough to kill, and his gaze could drown a person.

Jun Yueyue’s heart was so sweet it felt almost cloying. She squeezed Fang Anyu’s hand, then tilted her head and kissed his cheek too.

There were many stars. The moon was bright. It was a rare full moon.

These days had passed in a muddle. Without the change of seasons, none of them had deliberately paid attention to the month. Was it July or August now?

When Fang Anyu’s kiss fell, Jun Yueyue thought hazily.

This kiss was indescribably sweet. Jun Yueyue’s heart was also sweet, dripping honey. The two entered the house hand in hand. They had already washed up earlier, so now they only needed a simple wash and to brush their teeth.
