TPSGTUECA Chapter 1

She Would Rely on Huo Yi’s Cousins to Get Her Through…

Lu Ying stared at the original owner’s current boyfriend, appraising him carefully from head to toe. Her gaze was so cool and detached that the scumbag began to feel uneasy all over.

Huo Yi’s girlfriend had only just woken up. Before he could say more than a few words, she shoved him off the bed. Before he could lose his temper, she fixed him with a pair of cold, breathtakingly beautiful eyes.

Huo Yi wanted to get angry.

He failed.

Struggling up from the floor, he asked helplessly, “Baby, did you have a nightmare?”

Lu Ying stared closely at Huo Yi’s handsome face, broad shoulders, narrow waist and long, straight legs. She sorted through the original owner’s memories and, sure enough, unearthed from her memory palace just how skilled Huo Yi was in bed…

He was, in fact, extremely good.

At that thought, she reluctantly tolerated the reproach on Huo Yi’s face.

“I’m hungry. Make me something to eat.”

Huo Yi froze.

“Baby, aren’t you usually the one who cooks?”

Lu Ying got up. With her long, slender, porcelain-white fingers, she adjusted the strap of her slip dress and gazed at the faint light of dawn beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. The air conditioning kept the room pleasantly cool.

In a languid voice, she lightly kicked Huo Yi’s bare leg twice.

“Can’t I order you around anymore?”

The warmth of his girlfriend’s body brushed against his skin.

Huo Yi’s thoughts immediately began to wander. His girlfriend was acting very strangely today, but there was something uniquely alluring about her. She was much more adorable like this than when she acted like a meek, obedient little girl.

He eagerly agreed. “All right. Whatever you say, baby.”

A smile blossomed across his sculpted, handsome face. Several rays of sunlight caught the bridge of his straight nose, casting sharp shadows across his features. He was so beautiful that he could make a person forget to breathe.

Lu Ying stared at him inscrutably for two seconds.

She reached out, ran a hand over his pectoral muscles, and patted them twice.

“Good boy. Go make it. I want steak and pasta.”

She looked down at him imperiously.

Huo Yi hissed when she pinched his nipple. The sudden teasing attack pricked like a thorned rose.

His stomach was empty, and something else was beginning to stir.

“Baby, should we continue after we eat?”

He gazed at her with his charming eyes, his expression suggestive and lingering.

Lu Ying glanced back at him.

“Eat first. We’ll see afterwards.”

While Huo Yi clattered around in the kitchen, Lu Ying sat at the island with her chin propped on one hand, absently recalling the original novel’s plot.

It was an apocalyptic disaster novel about an extreme deep freeze. The male and female leads were a loving married couple who weathered the apocalypse hand in hand, while the original owner was the male lead’s younger cousin—a bleeding-heart cannon-fodder supporting character.

Not only had she allowed her current boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend to move into her villa, but she had also watched helplessly as the two embraced for warmth on the large bed and slept beside each other.

Lu Ying had been gentle and obedient, with no mind of her own. She listened to everything her boyfriend said. When disaster struck, she treated Huo Yi as her sole source of security and obeyed his every command.

Therefore, although she had desperately wanted to keep his ex-girlfriend out, she still opened the door with tears in her eyes.

Her ending had not been pleasant.

While she was caught off guard, the scumbag’s ex-girlfriend pushed her out into the snow and locked the villa’s door behind her. The scumbag never came outside to save her. The two bastards simply watched as she froze to death.

When Lu Ying had read the ending of the supporting character who shared her name, she had furiously posted a review condemning the author’s nonsensical writing and the way they had portrayed the cannon-fodder supporting character as a complete idiot.

“She was stupid enough to open the door for her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend and let the woman move into her own villa… Then she stood there and watched her ex and her boyfriend hug each other for warmth and sleep in the same bed.”

Lu Ying had not even finished writing the rest of her scathing review.

The moment she posted that comment, she transmigrated into the novel and became the cannon-fodder supporting character.

She had come face-to-face with the full, firm pectoral muscles of the original owner’s current boyfriend and resident scumbag, Huo Yi.

Lu Ying gazed at the excessively brilliant, dreamlike morning sky outside. She found the original owner’s phone and opened the contacts list.

There was only one week remaining before the extreme-cold apocalypse began.

She called the novel’s female lead, the wife of the original owner’s older cousin.

The call was answered almost immediately.

“Lulu, is something wrong?”

Bai Xiaoyi’s voice was gentle and filled with concern.

Lu Ying’s older cousin, Cheng Shengyi, and his wife, Bai Xiaoyi, were the novel’s male and female leads.

Bai Xiaoyi was 178 centimetres tall. She had grown up in the countryside, practised martial arts and was bursting with strength. Cheng Shengyi was even taller, standing at a full 198 centimetres. His body was covered in firm, corded muscle, and he worked on construction sites.

The young couple had an excellent relationship. Even when the extreme cold arrived, nothing prevented them from relying on each other and struggling to survive until the very end.

They endured countless hardships along the way.

However, during their fight for survival, the male and female leads never forgot about their younger cousin, Lu Ying, who lived in the same city.

They had trudged through the snow and endured tremendous difficulties to reach the villa district, intending to take their cousin with them and survive together. Only then had they discovered that she was already dead.

Bai Xiaoyi had viciously beaten the scumbag couple who had seized the property under Lu Ying’s name and forced them to confess what they had done to her.

Cheng Shengyi had then played the villain. He threw them both out into the snow, granting them the same death they had given Lu Ying.

While reading the novel, Lu Ying had greatly enjoyed the way the author had written this married couple. She had been even more satisfied with their revenge against the two bastards.

Her voice softened.

“Are you and Shengyi busy over the next few days?”

Cheng Shengyi had recently taken on a construction project, and Bai Xiaoyi had gone with him. Neither of them was particularly well educated. They had started out as a poor married couple and accompanied each other all the way to prosperity.

Now that they were both over thirty, they owned several expensive properties outright.

Within Lu Ying’s family, Cheng Shengyi and Bai Xiaoyi were only one example of the harmonious and affectionate relationships between its members.

The entire family supported one another wholeheartedly. They worked together and never abandoned each other during times of danger.

One reason the young couple had been able to amass their current fortune was the investment assistance they had received from Lu Ying. She had inherited her parents’ estate at a young age after they unexpectedly passed away.

Although Bai Xiaoyi was technically only the wife of Lu Ying’s older cousin, the two of them were much closer than that.

Bai Xiaoyi treated Lu Ying like her own younger sister.

“Your brother has the next few days off. What’s wrong? Are you feeling too lazy to go out and buy groceries again? How about I come over to visit and cook for you?”

Lu Ying had been inside the body of the supporting character who shared her name for less than ten minutes.

Yet Bai Xiaoyi’s gentleness had already softened the expression in her eyes.

“Sister-in-law, I’m planning to buy the villa next door. Could you and Shengyi come over and help me get the house ready over the next few days?”

“Lulu, why do you suddenly want to buy another house?”

Bai Xiaoyi sounded hesitant.

“The property market has been sluggish recently. You’ll get a better price if you wait a little longer.”

Naturally, Lu Ying knew that.

However, she also knew that this fictional world was about to enter a long-lasting, apocalyptic deep freeze.

She had no intention of allowing the novel’s male and female leads to greet the first snowfall in a miserable construction-site dormitory.

“Property prices don’t matter.”

Lu Ying knew exactly how large an inheritance the original owner’s parents had left behind.

While speaking on the phone, she contacted the investment manager who handled her finances through WeChat and instructed her to purchase the vacant villa next door immediately.

Bai Xiaoyi could not persuade her wilful younger cousin to change her mind.

“All right. I’ll talk to your brother. We’ll come over tomorrow.”

Lu Ying was not yet in a hurry to stockpile supplies for the extreme-cold apocalypse.

Once she had ensured that the male and female leads would be beside her, increasing her chances of survival, she briefly relaxed.

The call ended.

A low, magnetic male voice sounded behind her.

“Baby, come and eat.”

Huo Yi had become quite skilled at cooking while studying abroad.

However, this was the first time he had ever cooked for Lu Ying.

He looked expectantly at his beautiful girlfriend, who seemed different after waking up today.

She raised her eyes and swept a casual glance over him. Her gaze followed the smooth lines of his arm before landing on the plate he carried.

The food had been arranged with stylish, restaurant-like elegance.

The steak was beautifully seared, while the pasta had been cooked to perfection.

Lu Ying did not stand on ceremony. She sat down at the dining table and placed a bite of food into her mouth.

“Does it taste good?”

The question slipped from Huo Yi’s mouth before he could stop it.

Once he had spoken, he immediately felt that something was wrong.

Why was he eagerly awaiting his girlfriend’s answer?

Usually, that was Lu Ying’s role. Every time she finished cooking, she would look forward to hearing his opinion.

Lu Ying frowned slightly.

“It’s a little bland.”

“Maybe I didn’t add enough salt—”

Huo Yi responded instinctively. As he spoke, he looked at his girlfriend and abruptly became irritated with himself.

“If it’s too bland, the salt is on the counter. Add it yourself.”

He felt as though Lu Ying had him wrapped around her finger, and the sensation was deeply unpleasant.

Lu Ying glanced at him indifferently.

She did not react further. She simply finished everything on her plate and pushed it aside.

The corners of Huo Yi’s lips lifted almost imperceptibly.

His mood improved.

Although his girlfriend had complained with her mouth, her body had been very honest. She had eaten everything.

Finishing the meal meant she approved of it.

Feeling magnanimous, he decided not to remain angry.

Lu Ying suddenly asked, “I remember you have several male cousins, don’t you?”

Huo Yi’s father was the eldest son of the Huo family, which had some reputation in S City.

Twenty years earlier, he had married Ms Qiao, a woman from a scholarly family, creating a celebrated love story between a wealthy heir and an ordinary woman.

The relatives on both sides of Huo Yi’s family were highly educated and specialised in their respective fields.

The Huo family worked in finance, while the Qiao family worked in education.

Most of Huo Yi’s relatives whom Lu Ying knew belonged to his father’s side of the family. They specialised in investment and possessed considerable wealth.

Her investment manager had once shown her several projects with impressive returns. As it happened, those projects had been managed by one of Huo Yi’s older cousins.

“Why are you asking about that?”

Huo Yi rarely took the initiative to mention his relatives.

Lu Ying regarded him coldly.

She knew the original owner had never received much information about his family because Huo Yi had never cared very much about her.

She had been a docile little girl who was easy to seduce and easy to brush aside. Huo Yi had never intended to remain with her for long.

That was most likely one reason he had stood by and watched the original owner die after the extreme-cold apocalypse began.

“This Sunday, invite all of your cousins to my house.”

That Sunday happened to be the day before the extreme-cold apocalypse began.

Huo Yi’s eyebrows drew tightly together.

He was about to say something.

Under his strange and bewildered gaze, Lu Ying stretched lazily.

She appraised the original owner’s boyfriend critically, her gaze travelling from his beautiful abdominal muscles downwards. Then she considered the excellent genes on both the paternal and maternal sides of Huo Yi’s family.

The extreme-cold apocalypse was approaching.

Body heat would be essential to survival.

She clearly remembered that after their heating equipment stopped functioning, the male and female leads had survived the coldest period by huddling together and sharing their warmth.

Lu Ying would rely on Huo Yi’s cousins to survive the cold snap.

As for whether they would agree?

Lu Ying strolled into the bathroom.

She stared at the gorgeous face in the mirror, which was identical to her own, crossed her arms and scoffed.

“Once they’ve stepped through my door, do they really think they’ll still be able to escape?”

**Nomad: This novel was submitted as a recommendation. After reading the synopsis, I thought it sounded interesting enough to pick up, especially since it is relatively short at only 75 chapters.

However, after translating the first few chapters, I realised that it is a little more explicit than the novels I usually translate. There are also multiple male leads… (⁄ ⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄ ⁄)

So, consider this your warning! I haven’t translated far enough yet to decide whether it should be rated 18+, so please read at your own discretion.**
