TSFCHNWTS Chapter 1

She had been kidnapped.

Moonlight streamed through the cracks in the warehouse. Someone pushed open the door, and a rough, raspy voice said, “Go see if she’s awake.”

As soon as he finished speaking, a man grabbed her by the hair. The pain made Dai Ning let out a muffled groan.

“Boss, she’s awake.”

Dai Ning had no choice but to open her eyes. Her mouth had been sealed with tape, leaving her unable to speak. The man they called Boss stared at her sinisterly for a long moment before saying, “Miss Ji, sorry about this. Someone wants you dead. When you’re on the road to the underworld, don’t come looking for us.”

Dai Ning struggled and whimpered through the tape.

One of the men rubbed his hands together and chuckled lewdly. “Same old rules. She’s going to die anyway. Boss, can we…? I’ve never had a rich young miss before.”

The boss waved a hand. “Make it quick. Don’t cause any unnecessary trouble.”

Several men surrounded her and began taking off their clothes. Unable to break free, Dai Ning’s eyes widened in terror.

“Shame about her face. I heard the eldest Miss Ji used to be a rare beauty.”

“Just how many people did this woman offend? Several different people ordered us to get rid of her at the same time.”

Dai Ning’s pupils contracted.

“Cut the crap before you get yourself killed. Can you do it or not? If you can’t, I’ll go first. Tsk, this woman’s skin is really pale.”

Dai Ning had already fallen into despair. Intense hatred blazed in her eyes.

Anyone would lose all hope after being hated by her fiancé, her younger uncle, and her own brother, then having her face disfigured and being kidnapped, only to find herself trapped in such a hopeless situation.

The face that had been destroyed by acid looked somewhat hideous. Yet those men did not find it repulsive. She was still a pampered heiress with an excellent figure. They eagerly crowded around and pressed down on her.

The light faded from Dai Ning’s eyes.

The next moment, the men suddenly stopped moving.

A voice urged her from inside her mind, “What are you standing there for? Run!”

Only then did Dai Ning realise that the restraints around her wrists had come undone and the tape over her mouth had disappeared.

She scrambled to her feet, kicked the immobilised man in front of her as hard as she could, and ran out of the warehouse.

The moonlight was deathly pale.

They were in the outskirts of the city, where shadows from the trees swayed on either side of the road. Dai Ning had little strength left. Gritting her teeth, she stumbled forward.

Someone behind her recovered and shouted, “That woman escaped!”

“Then hurry up and chase her!”

Dai Ning finally reached the main road, only to be struck by a speeding car and thrown into the air.

The last thing she saw was a burst of blinding white light.

Then came the sensation of her entire body shattering.

The road fell silent. The girl’s broken body lay motionless on the ground.

Someone got out of the car and asked quietly, “Is she dead?”

“Yes.”

“Let’s go. It’s over.”

“I have travelled through all Three Realms, yet I have never encountered anyone with fortune as terrible as yours.”

Inside a pure-white space, a young woman curled up within a halo of light, hugging herself tightly. She did not respond.

“Do you want revenge? You should know that without me, you would have already been violated and killed by those animals.”

The voice continued chattering away, trying to tempt her, but Dai Ning remained silent.

She remembered how she had died. Everything had happened so suddenly that it still did not feel real.

Only the pain remained vividly engraved in her memory.

When she opened her eyes again, Dai Ning had arrived in this unknown space. A small green orb floated beside her, sighing endlessly.

“Such terrible luck. So miserable. This is my first time meeting someone with negative fortune. You were beyond saving! Say something. Do you want revenge or not?”

Dai Ning covered her eyes.

“No.”

The green orb floating in the air choked. “What is wrong with you?”

Everyone wanted the chance to turn their life around. This human girl’s soul had clearly turned completely black, yet she had no desire for revenge.

The green orb was exasperated by her lack of ambition.

“You were originally the eldest young miss of the Ji family. You had money and beauty, but in the end, everyone despised you. You were disfigured, kidnapped, nearly gang-raped, and eventually killed in a car accident! Do you know why you ended up like that?”

Dai Ning did not understand why things had turned out that way either.

Only a few years ago, she had been spoiled and cherished beyond measure. In the blink of an eye, her life had become a disaster.

When had everything begun to change?

Right.

It had started when her father’s illegitimate daughter, Ji Tian, came to live with them.

Dai Ning had targeted Ji Tian at every turn, but her younger brother liked Ji Tian. Her fiancé liked Ji Tian. Even her cold and distant younger uncle adored Ji Tian. By the end, even her grandfather thought Dai Ning was being unreasonable.

“Because your world was originally a male-oriented novel,” the green orb explained. “The book has three male protagonists, each of whom reaches the pinnacle through a different path. There was no female lead in the original story. You were merely a cannon-fodder supporting character.

“Your younger half-sister, Ji Tian, transmigrated into the novel and gradually acquired the fortune of a female lead. As soon as she arrived, she won over your rebellious twin brother, who became her loyal dog from that moment onward. Your sinister fiancé fell in love with her, and your younger uncle was willing to live and die for her.”

The green orb flew over and settled against her cheek.

“Every man around you is a favoured son of heaven. Through their love, the female lead absorbed their fortune. Everything went smoothly for her, and she was able to command the wind and rain in your world. The men spent fortunes just to make her smile, while after your death, you did not even have a coffin. No one remembered you.”

The girl’s pitch-black soul gave off a dark and eerie glow.

The green orb swallowed, staring at it with intense greed.

It redoubled its efforts. “Dai Ning, don’t you want to take back everything that originally belonged to you?”

The girl remained silent for a long time before laughing softly.

Her laughter carried a trace of venom, yet it was crisp, melodious, and exceptionally pleasant.

“Ji Tian stole their fortune. Once they lose it, they won’t meet good ends. I’m not going back, so stop talking.”

The green orb became anxious.

“That isn’t necessarily true. Ji Tian only took a little fortune from each of them. They can still live perfectly well. Besides, don’t you care about your brother?”

“I don’t want him anymore.”

Dai Ning covered her eyes, concealing the emotions within them.

Her soul bore no scars and felt no pain.

This was quite nice.

The past year had been like a nightmare. Everyone had constantly compared her with Ji Tian.

The eldest miss was arrogant and overbearing, while the second miss was gentle and considerate.

The eldest miss was malicious and cruel, while the second miss was adorable and kind.

Even her own twin brother only acknowledged Ji Tian as his sister and refused to recognise Dai Ning, his biological sister.

Everything she did was wrong. The moment she harmed so much as a single hair on Ji Tian’s head, someone destroyed her face.

In the span of one short year, she had lost everything.

And it had all happened simply because, in this male-oriented novel, Ji Tian had become the female lead while she was nothing more than cannon fodder.

The green orb was at its wits’ end. Finally, it sighed and said, “In the original plot, after your death, your grandfather refused to accept what had happened. He investigated the truth and eventually died in the hospital from a cerebral haemorrhage.”

The girl’s breathing stopped.

The green orb saw a faint speck of white light appear within her ink-black soul.

Her expression finally came alive. In a hoarse voice, she asked, “Who did it?”

Dai Ning did not believe it had been a coincidence.

The green orb refused to tell her and merely asked, “Are you willing to go back and change your fate now?”

Dai Ning sat up and pressed her lips together.

“Send me back.”

The green orb was delighted that she had agreed. It swam happily around her.

“Sign a contract with me. I’ll use all my power to send you back. Once you complete your counterattack, I want your soul.”

Dai Ning had known there would be a catch.

Anger rose in her heart.

As expected, a supporting character with an E-rank Luck stat could not even encounter a golden finger without it wanting something from her.

Other people received miraculous cheats.

She had encountered a parasite.

Dai Ning said, “Fine.”

The “parasite” green orb said, “Then let’s begin!”

A contract floated in front of Dai Ning. She glanced at it and signed her name.

The green orb happily put the contract away.

“Let’s go, let’s go! We’ll leave right now. You have to remember that once we return, we must obey the laws of heaven and earth. Your sister transmigrated into the novel several days ago and already possesses a faint amount of female-lead fortune.

“You cannot kill any important plot character, or you will be erased. But you can gradually wear away her fortune.”

All she had to do was make the male protagonists who had originally loved Ji Tian fall in love with her instead.

Once this outsider of a female lead lost the fortune nourishing her, she would naturally fade away.

The green orb embraced the black soul and travelled through space and time.

The violent temporal winds tossed its tiny body from side to side.

It could not understand.

Why would a vicious supporting character refuse to return for revenge, yet willingly sacrifice her soul for an old man already nearing the end of his life? Why would she choose to oppose the immensely fortunate male and female leads and live through that terrible life all over again?

“Ningning, listen to your grandfather. There’s no need for you to go somewhere so remote just to clear your mind. If you want to have fun, I can have Xiao Zhang and the others take you out to sea, or you can go north to see the snow.”

The elderly man anxiously stamped his walking stick against the floor, hoping his youngest granddaughter would change her mind.

Dai Ning, who had been bent over packing her luggage, raised her head, revealing a delicate, doll-like face.

“Grandpa, I’ll be fine. If you’re worried, send a few more people to protect me. I’ll call you every day, all right?”

The seventeen-year-old girl’s voice was soft and sweet.

The old man had always doted on her the most. When she hugged his arm and acted spoiled, even a heart made of stone would have softened.

She had only lost her parents a few days ago, and he had been worried that she would be emotionally unstable. Now that she seemed unharmed and composed, he could not bear to reject her request.

“Then promise Grandpa that you’ll come back as soon as possible. If anything happens, tell me immediately. There’s a heatwave these next few days, so wait another two days before leaving.”

The girl nodded in agreement.

The green orb jumped around inside her mind.

“Are you serious? The female lead has already been in this world for several days! If you don’t leave soon, are you planning to wait until Zhao Yu falls in love with her?”

“There’s no hurry,” Dai Ning said. “I happen to need time to prepare a few things.”

The green orb had brought her back six years, to shortly after her parents’ deaths and her enormous argument with her rebellious brother.

Logically speaking, repairing her relationship with her unruly brother should have been her most important task at this stage.

However, Ji Mojue was the person who had disappointed Dai Ning the most, so she did not want to see him for the time being. Moreover, the first person the female lead had come into contact with was Zhao Yu. She had probably already begun trying to win him over.

Dai Ning calculated briefly.

Zhao Yu, that poor “phoenix man” who would eventually rise above his station, could only be eighteen this year at most.

Six years later, his heart would be as hard as stone. He would be vicious and ruthless, yet he would soften for the female lead alone. Clearly, Ji Tian’s efforts during this period had been effective.

But when Dai Ning said there was no hurry, she truly meant it.

She studied the non-mainstream girl reflected in the mirror and suddenly understood why so few people had liked her.

Her former taste really had been rather terrible.

The girl had a head of yellow hair and wore enormous hoop earrings. Her makeup was exaggerated and vulgar, and she was dressed in ripped jeans.

While the green orb continued urging her, Dai Ning leisurely went for a beauty treatment.

Her natural complexion was excellent, her skin as fair as milk.

After thinking for a moment, she had her yellow hair dyed dark brown. She also had the straightened hair restored to its original state.

Her hair was naturally curly. It cascaded down like beautiful strands of aquatic plants, and Dai Ning tied a blue ribbon into it in the shape of a butterfly.

She ordered the servants to throw away all her ripped jeans and changed into a beautiful sky-blue dress.

Dai Ning lazily blinked her lovely catlike eyes and waved to the servants.

“Uncle Qian, come shopping with me.”

The servants stared at Dai Ning in a daze.

The girl before them had soft, rosy cheeks that made people want to pinch them. Her youthful and lively outfit made her so lovely and captivating that it was almost unfair.

Whatever her personality might be, that face truly looked as though it had been kissed by an angel.

Was this really their rebellious, non-mainstream eldest miss?

She was far, far too adorable!

After Dai Ning finished transforming herself, the green orb drew in a sharp breath.

This world was a male-oriented novel. The women were merely rewards for the men after they achieved success, so naturally, none of them were ugly.

But Ji Dai Ning was so beautiful that it was practically cheating!

The green orb was no longer anxious at all. It watched as Dai Ning ordered people around, frantically stockpiling delicious food and respectable clothing.

“That’s right! Zhao Yu’s family is extremely poor at the moment. Buy more so he can eat his fill and dress warmly.”

Dai Ning merely smiled without answering.

She did not tell the green orb that she had no intention of trying to win Zhao Yu over.

She particularly despised that outwardly calm but sinister man.

Who said that wearing away the female lead’s fortune required making the male protagonists fall in love with her?

Wouldn’t it work just as well to make them hate the female lead?
