TVFCATEOD Chapter 76

Shen, the zombie, sat on the ground, oblivious to his own filth. He held a crystal core in his hand and looked at her with a bewildered and aggrieved expression.

He had worked hard to kill zombies and dig out the crystal core, intending to offer it as a reward to the human food in front of him. But she unexpectedly rejected his goodwill.

Shen, the zombie, picked up the crystal core and swallowed it himself, with an expressionless face as he looked at her. Can’t you see? It’s edible. He didn’t leave a single piece for her.

Bai Qingqing saw him eat the crystal core and displayed an indescribable expression.

This guy really lacked human intelligence. No, she had to make him clean himself up. After wandering around and coming back, who knows how many viruses he carried on his body.

She could throw the pepper monsters and little purple herbs into her space. Shen Mingxuan was no longer human but a zombie, so perhaps she could try throwing him into the space.

Just as she had this thought, the crouching Shen, the zombie, suddenly disappeared.

Shen, the zombie, hadn’t reacted yet, and he found himself in a different place. He looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings, revealing a vigilant and gloomy expression.

Little purple herbs, upon seeing this unfamiliar creature, immediately cried out, “Yiyiyiyi, there’s a monster coming, let’s attack it!”

“Owoowoowoo, kill him! Bite him!” A group of plant-like creatures rushed over.

Shen, the zombie, was caught off guard as he was surrounded by the inexplicable things swarming around him. His hands turned into sharp claws and he swung them at the creatures.

“Stop!” a voice sounded, halting his vicious actions.

As soon as Bai Qingqing entered the space, she saw Shen Mingxuan with a fierce look on his face, about to attack her lovely little plants. She hurriedly ran over and scolded, “What do you think you’re doing!”

Shen, the zombie, was stopped by her. He tilted his head slightly, showing a puzzled expression. Weren’t these strange things trying to attack him? Shouldn’t he eliminate them?

“Go play elsewhere,” Bai Qingqing shooed away the little plants and pointed at him, saying, “Come with me.”

Shen, the zombie, obediently followed her and arrived at a warehouse, where he followed her orders to lift a bathtub and followed behind her.

Under the clear blue sky, the lake’s surface mirrored the sky and the surrounding scenery. The water and sky blended into one, with a gentle breeze brushing past and the green grass swaying. The scene was beautiful.

Bai Qingqing commanded him to place the bathtub next to the lake and then instructed him to use a bucket to fill it with water until it was full.

She crossed her arms and said, “Take off your clothes.”

The dishevelled zombie couldn’t understand her words.

Bai Qingqing sighed in frustration and pointed to his clothes, making a gesture: “Take them off, they’re too dirty.”

Shen Mingxuan, transformed into a zombie, had no shame and simply tore off his clothes, revealing his muscular chest. He then proceeded to rip his trousers as well and placed his hands on his pants.

“Stop!” Bai Qingqing hurriedly called out, not wanting to witness that sight.

Shen, the zombie, froze and looked at her, then glanced at his remaining pants. He stood still without moving.

Bai Qingqing took a glance at the man’s well-proportioned figure and murmured to herself. She hadn’t expected him to look like a playboy but with a good physique.

She asked Shen, the zombie, to sit in the bathtub, picked up some shower gel, poured it on him, and tossed him a bath sponge. “Wash yourself.”

Shen, the zombie, looked confused as he held the bath sponge. Sitting in the water was very uncomfortable for him, and he wanted to jump out.

Bai Qingqing was speechless. Shen, the transformed zombie, really had no intelligence. He didn’t even know how to bathe. Angrily, she said, “Wait.”

She returned to the warehouse and brought out a brush. Standing in front of him, she began brushing him vigorously, using a lot of force.

Although Shen Mingxuan had turned into a zombie, he still felt pain in his body. His pale skin was brushed red by her rough strokes, and he was in considerable pain.

“Grrr.” He growled unhappily.

Bai Qingqing found it amusing that he was growling at her. This dog zombie thought he could get angry even after she took care of him. “Shut up! If you growl again, I’ll throw you out!”

Shen Mingxuan restrained his fierce expression and obediently sat in the bathtub, allowing her to wash him.

Bai Qingqing didn’t care whether he felt pain or not. She scrubbed him thoroughly, poured water to rinse him off, and threw a large towel at him, saying, “Dry yourself.”

Then she threw a set of brand new men’s clothing to him.

Shen, the zombie, stood there without moving, draped in a towel. He didn’t know how to dress himself, standing like the most perfect sculpture, staring at her.

Helplessly, Bai Qingqing went over and dressed him, instructing as she did so, “I’ll teach you these things once, but if you can’t remember, I won’t help you again.”

Shen, the zombie, mumbled and sniffed the enticing scent of the human in front of him, swallowing saliva.

Bai Qingqing heard him swallowing and looked up at his face, which was now delicate and beautiful after the bath. In his captivating silver-grey eyes, there was a hint of greed.

He hadn’t fully evolved yet; his wild instincts and rationality were still conflicting. If she hadn’t been training him all along, he probably would have turned her into his meal by now.

Shen, the zombie, struggled to suppress the boiling desire to hunt within him, and he showed a submissive expression, hoping for some reward from her.

Bai Qingqing tossed him a crystal nucleus and said, “Take it.”

Shen, the zombie, took the crystal nucleus and swallowed it whole. He followed behind her, wherever she went, like a little tail.

Apart from Bai Qingqing, there were no other creatures in the area. Especially not a zombie. The mutated plants didn’t like him and scattered as soon as he approached.

It wasn’t that they were afraid of the zombie, but they could sense that his level was quite high, making him difficult to provoke.

Bai Qingqing commanded Shen, the zombie, to help with the work, digging, planting, and watering. They only left two hours later.

It was late, and she needed to rest and sleep. She had to lock him up.

She pushed him into the tea room, and Shen, the zombie, stood in the cramped space, wearing an unhappy expression. She was going to lock him up again, and he didn’t like that.

Bai Qingqing didn’t care whether he was happy or not. She used the chains to lock him up once more and threatened, “If you dare to break free, I’ll kick you out.”

He understood and showed a lonely expression, crouching down.

Satisfied, Bai Qingqing left the room, locked the door with the chain, and went to sleep.

A peaceful night passed.

The next day, she sat up lazily, stretching her body. She put on her shoes and went to unlock the chains, entering the dimly lit room.

Hearing the sound, Shen Mingxuan in the corner raised his head. His silver-grey pupils looked at her.

Zombies hardly slept. They would only fall into a few hours of deep sleep within a twenty-four-hour period. Any sound would wake them up, and he appeared to have been awake all night.

Bai Qingqing unlocked the iron chains for him and took out sunglasses and a mask from her space, instructing, “Don’t take them off.”

She planned to leave this abandoned factory. Since the Thunder Squad hadn’t come looking for her, she had to find them. After all, there were still side missions to complete.

She hoped that by the time she found them, she would have helped Shen Mingxuan reach the fifth rank. Even if he had regained his consciousness by then, he was no longer human, and she would separate from him.

The girl and the zombie left the abandoned factory. Bai Qingqing took out an off-road vehicle from her space, filled it with fuel, and let him sit in the passenger seat. They drove towards the direction out of the mist-filled city.

The fog enveloped the city, greatly affecting visibility. The vehicle didn’t move smoothly, so she slowed down and had been driving for the entire morning without leaving the city.

Occasionally, the sound of zombie roars could be heard from the fog, which was quite eerie. One could only hope that zombies wouldn’t appear out of nowhere.

The fog-filled city had both advantages and disadvantages when it came to zombies. The good thing was that there were more second and third-rank zombies. She let Shen Mingxuan hunt for an hour and harvested seven or eight zombie crystal nuclei.

These crystal nuclei were not enough to help him upgrade to the fourth rank. She had to find higher-ranking zombies to kill.

In this deserted post-apocalyptic world, a girl and a zombie travelled together. If others knew, they would surely think she was crazy, associating with a zombie.

Before nightfall, the off-road vehicle successfully crossed the bridge and left the fog-filled city behind.

The Thunder Squad had stayed in the fog-filled city for a week. Liang Zhiyu and Fu Chen went out every day searching but couldn’t find any trace of Bai Qingqing. Instead, they discovered traces left behind by the two intelligent zombies.

It turned out that the two intelligent zombies were indeed following the orders of a zombie king. They had no idea where Bai Tiantian was hidden. Dealing with a sixth-rank zombie king would not be easy, especially with two fifth-rank intelligent zombies. They needed to formulate a battle plan before taking action.

This zombie king had a strong thirst for killing and had imprisoned many humans to use them as food. It was cruel and merciless.

Fu Chen and Liang Zhiyu joined forces to kill him. As for the two intelligent zombies, they promptly abandoned their leader and fled from the base of operations.

Among the humans captive by the Zombie King, there were several fourth and third-rank supernaturals. Fu Chen arranged for them to leave the Mist City and head to the nearest Yaoyang Base. Xu Meng, who was clamouring to go back, was also forced into a car and taken away.

Only five members remained in the squad: Fu Chen, Liang Zhiyu, the injured Xiao Yang, Bai Tiantian, and Li Jin.

Bai Tiantian was grateful to be rescued by the team. She thought she was doomed when she was captured by the zombies, but luckily Fu Chen saved her.

Moved to tears, she thanked him, “Captain Fu, I’m so glad you came. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise.”

Fu Chen asked in a cold tone, “Do you know why the Zombie King captured you?”

“I don’t know,” Bai Tiantian shook her head, looking panicked. “He locked me in a room and never spoke to me.”

“Have you seen Shen Mingxuan?” Liang Zhiyu asked.

“No, I haven’t. I’ve never seen him,” Bai Tiantian replied in confusion.

Fu Chen and Liang Zhiyu exchanged glances. It seemed that Shen Mingxuan had encountered trouble while chasing after the intelligent zombies who had kidnapped Bai Tiantian.

Bai Tiantian looked at Xiao Yang, who was bandaged, feeling guilty and touched. She said, “Xiao Yang, I’m really sorry. If it weren’t for me…”

Xiao Yang was annoyed and impatiently said, “I didn’t do it to save you.”

He had mistaken Bai Tiantian for Bai Qingqing in the thick fog and rushed to save her without a second thought. Little did he know that he had rescued Bai Tiantian instead.

Bai Qingqing had been missing for so long with no news, and instead, Bai Tiantian was the one who was rescued. Xiao Yang felt anxious, and seeing the teary-eyed Bai Tiantian made him even more annoyed.

“Captain Fu, tomorrow I’ll go out to look for Qingqing too,” Xiao Yang pleaded.

Fu Chen glanced at his injured hand and said, “No, you need to rest.”

Xiao Yang’s tone turned cold as he said, “I’m fine. I must find Qingqing. No matter where she is, I will find her.”

Fu Chen pursed his lips and remained silent.

The squad continued searching for the whereabouts of Bai Qingqing and Shen Mingxuan in the Mist City. Finally, they found traces of Bai Qingqing’s presence in an abandoned factory.

They kept watch at the factory for two days but didn’t find anyone, so they had no choice but to leave.

Bai Qingqing drove the off-road vehicle at full throttle on the straight highway, enjoying the thrill of speeding. She was in a state of extreme excitement. As night fell, she pulled into a service area on the highway and coincidentally ran into a group of people as soon as she got out of the car.
