TVFCATEOD Chapter 91

After Shen Mingxuan went missing in Mist City, everyone in the squad was worried and didn’t know where he had gone. They didn’t even know if he was alive or dead.

In the past, Shen Mingxuan had been the best man to her in the Thunder Squad, treating her like a goddess with utmost care and gentleness.

But later, she kept causing trouble, and Shen Mingxuan stopped blindly protecting her.

Bai Tiantian had suffered a lot these past few days, and she had had enough of fear and worry. When she saw Shen Mingxuan, it was as if she had seen her saviour, and she urgently hoped he would save her.

She didn’t want to die, nor did she want to be captured by the Zombie Emperor.

As a result, she ignored Shen Mingxuan’s unusual pupils and the name he initially called out.

“Mingxuan, save me! He wants to capture me,” Bai Tiantian cried out.

Zhong Xi, with a fierce expression, looked at the nearby zombie and realized that it was of a higher rank. Zhong Xi, having a human-like appearance and the ability to speak, was more intelligent than other Rank 5 zombies.

Shen Mingxuan didn’t make a move but stared at Bai Tiantian, lost in thought. The zombie in front of them was of a higher rank than him, but he could sense that it had been heavily injured. In a fight between them, Shen Mingxuan had a high chance of winning.

He was somewhat angry. Why wasn’t the girl Qingqing? She resembled her from behind, and her aura was somewhat similar, causing him to mistake her for someone else.

She was calling out to him for help. Did she know him?

Shen Mingxuan’s silver-grey eyes stared at the Zombie Emperor without any emotional fluctuation, his body already in an aggressive state.

Zhong Xi sensed his chilling killing intent, and the blue pupils in his eyes also revealed a greedy expression. If he killed this Rank 5 zombie, he would absorb a large amount of energy.

Both sides erupted with immense power. The high-ranking presence of the Zombie Emperor exerted great pressure on their fellow beings, akin to a tornado approaching. The glass in the corridor shattered, and a chilling killing intent permeated the air.

Bai Tiantian bumped into the wall, her eyes fixed on the two figures swiftly entangled in a battle.

Probably due to severe injuries, Zhong Xi’s movements slowed down considerably. Despite being adept at close combat, he found himself at a disadvantage in the fight. The compressive force in the space was too strong, and anyone nearby would suffer.

Bai Tiantian quickly found a place to hide and quietly observed the ongoing battle outside.

Zhong Xi had injured Shen Mingxuan, his sharp claws slashing through his chest. A beastly roar could be heard as the black cat instantly transformed into a large cheetah, agilely pouncing on the Zombie Emperor.

Bai Tiantian exclaimed in shock, covering her mouth as she watched.

Shen Mingxuan and the black cat seemed to have cooperated many times before, working in perfect harmony as they attacked Zhong Xi together. Shen Mingxuan bore numerous injuries and appeared somewhat dishevelled.

Bai Tiantian’s eyes flashed with pity. Even though she knew the other party was a monster, witnessing him being heavily injured couldn’t help but evoke some compassion.

Zhong Xi, injured by Shen Mingxuan and the black cat, let out a furious roar and mutated once again. His body grew to a monstrous size, his movements becoming ferocious. The black cat was swept away by his palm strike and crashed heavily into the wall

, leaving behind a large dent.

Shen Mingxuan furrowed his brow, waved his hands, and a multitude of ice spikes appeared out of thin air, launching towards the Zombie Emperor.

The sharp ice spikes, filled with tremendous energy, shot forward, piercing through anything they struck. Zhong Xi dodged and created an invisible wall in front of him to withstand the assault.

Both sides knew this was a fight to the death and attacked with all their might.

As seconds ticked by, Zhong Xi’s injuries became too severe, and he was ultimately seized by Shen Mingxuan, who gripped his throat and slammed him onto the ground. Massive ice spikes erupted from the ground, piercing through Zhong Xi’s body. Unable to regenerate quickly, his chest was pierced, and he fell defeated, powerless.

Bai Tiantian watched this brutal scene in front of her and ran to Shen Mingxuan’s side, trying to speak.

As his life force faded, Zhong Xi looked at Bai Tiantian with a gaze filled with resentment. He never expected that a trip to the City of Death would become his place of downfall.

If it weren’t for the sake of having no worries behind him, he wouldn’t have left the Zombie Empire to capture her.

Shen Mingxuan never left any survivors. Even when prey was on the brink of death, they might still launch a counterattack. He extended his hand and swiftly pierced through Zhong Xi’s head, completely killing him.

“Ah!” Bai Tiantian widened her eyes and screamed, looking at Shen Mingxuan in disbelief.

Shen Mingxuan’s handsome face was ice-cold as he directly dug out the crystal core from the Zombie Emperor’s head, gripping it like a demon holding a human heart, his eyes sinisterly staring at her.

Bai Tiantian’s heart tightened in fear, as if she had seen a monster, and she looked at him with a strange expression. “How could you…”

“You, come with me,” Shen Mingxuan commanded coldly.

Bai Tiantian looked at Shen Mingxuan in shock, only then realizing that he was no longer human. The black cat had returned to its normal size and jumped to her feet, emitting threatening hisses from its throat.

After Bai Qingqing woke up, she rested for a while, had some food, and released an off-road vehicle from her space.

She raced through the City of Death for half a day, and besides zombies, the smoke-filled city was filled with nothing but zombies. They crazily chased after her car, and she harvested some zombie crystal cores before leaving the City of Death.

After leaving the City of Death, she aimlessly drove on the road, feeling depressed and uncomfortable.

The system revealed some information that through this instance of the City of Death, she had made significant progress with several mission targets. Xiao Yang, Liang Zhiyu, and Fu Chen had all made a major breakthrough.

She asked the system if Fu Chen was still alive, and the system coldly told her that the death of successfully conquered characters would not affect her missions.

The completion rate of her missions had already reached 80 percent. She just needed to make a little more effort to complete all the tasks.

Bai Qingqing drove the car to a small town, found a place to rest, and began to contemplate what to do next.

In the City of Death, she fully realized that the higher the level, the greater the disparity. If she wanted to be unrestricted and not threatened by others, she had to level up quickly.

The small plant people grown in her space could only devour and eliminate ordinary zombies. It was difficult to deal with zombies above the third rank, and in the face of a seventh-ranked Zombie Emperor, they were simply too fragile and easily destroyed.

In case there was a zombie tide, her few plants wouldn’t be enough.

Since the mission targets were almost conquered, she should leave and upgrade her own abilities. She must quickly raise her control over plant and animal abilities to the sixth or seventh rank, so she could control a large number of mutant plants and animals.

In order to upgrade, the ability holders in major bases would take on missions to hunt zombies or find resources.

She didn’t plan to go to any survivor bases at the moment since they were all humans. Besides, she had her life-saving spatial ability and resources. Unless she encountered a Zombie King, no one could threaten her.

After figuring things out, she drove towards a remote area, deep in the mountains or near the seaside, where there were mostly mutated plants and animals. She could settle there.

Yangyang Base.

Cheng Yan’s face was solemn as he hurriedly ran to the base wall and found Cheng Rui, who was training soldiers. “Cheng Rui, there’s something I need to tell you.”

Cheng Rui put down his gun and looked at him. “Brother, what is it?”

“There’s news from the Jingzhou Base. Thunder Squad suffered heavy losses in the City of Death. Your former captain, Fu Chen, is heavily injured and hasn’t woken up, and Shen Mingxuan is missing,” Cheng Yan truthfully delivered the bad news.

Cheng Rui’s cold features tensed up, and veins faintly bulged on his arm. He said in a deep voice, “What else?”

Cheng Yan looked at the desolate land outside the base, where many dark figures were moving. Those were man-eating zombies, and recently, more and more zombies were approaching the base.

“The two girls from the Bai family, one was taken by the Zombie Emperor, and the other…” Cheng Yan couldn’t bear to continue.

“Crack!” Cheng Rui forcefully crushed the mechanical device in his hand, feeling suffocated in his chest. He hoarsely said, “Brother, just say it straight. I can bear it.”

Cheng Yan said in a heavy tone, “Bai Qingqing and Fu Chen were buried together in the ruins, and she hasn’t been found so far. It’s very likely… Cheng Rui, without finding the body, she might still be alive.”

Cheng Rui’s expression was deep, and he clenched his teeth, saying, “Brother, I want to take people to the City of Death.”

“Cheng Rui!” Cheng Yan disagreed, his face unpleasant. “Do you know what kind of place that is? It’s always been a one-way trip. Even Fu Chen and a few strong ones almost died there.”

Cheng Rui looked deeply at Cheng Yan and said in a low voice, “I want to go personally. Brother, rest assured, I will come back safely.”

Cheng Yan knew that once his younger brother had made up his mind, no one could stop him. He sighed and said, “If only you hadn’t let her leave in the first place.”

Cheng Rui pursed his lips and remained silent.

He felt deep regret and pain in his heart. If he had kept Qingqing confined in the Yangyang Base, she wouldn’t have had any trouble and would still be living safely in the base.

The Jingzhou Base was the leading base among the five major bases, with a vast and prosperous territory. The Fu family and the Xiao family had always held high positions in Jingzhou. Xiao Yang, who had returned to his ancestral home, stayed secluded in his room all day. Seeing their son in a decadent state like a wild man, his parents were filled with heartache.

“Yangyang, what’s wrong with you?” Xiao’s mother cried with heartache. “Is there something you can’t tell Mom?”

Xiao Yang reeked of alcohol. These days after he returned, he spent each day in a state of despair. Upon hearing that Fu Chen was brought back by the ability holders of the Jingzhou Base, he hurriedly went there.

Fu Chen was heavily injured and unconscious. From the mouths of the ability holders, he learned that they had only saved Fu Chen and hadn’t seen the girl he described. Filled with a glimmer of hope, he felt like he had fallen into an abyss, engulfed in immense pain.

Xiao Yang’s appearance, resembling that of a young man who had lost all hope, deeply saddened his parents. They didn’t know what had happened and couldn’t find a way to lift his spirits.

Clutching his head, Xiao Yang weakly replied, “Mom, don’t worry about me. Let me be alone. You go out.”

He had lost the girl he loved… He had thought of bringing Qingqing back to let his parents see her. She was so beautiful, and they would live together in the future, with a lovely baby. But now, he had nothing. Qingqing was dead.
