But this was not the time to discuss the future.
Right now, they only hoped the Butterfly Garden Principal would defeat those beasts from Qing City Base, deal with Ying Da, and return peace to the land.
Because of that hope, Tan Haoge and the others held nothing back. They poured out every piece of information they knew.
Xin Nuo, who had handled logistics and had an excellent memory, even marked the personnel distribution of Qing City Base directly on the map Fu Erdie brought out.
“Qing City Base originally had a vision-type ability user who could monitor a very large area,” Xin Nuo said, her mood sinking. “He escaped with us this time… then died on the road.”
Her gloom lasted only a moment. Xin Nuo pulled herself together and continued, focusing especially on the zombie king breeding areas. She listed all forty-six zombie kings clearly: what attributes they had and what rank they were.
Fu Erdie said, “Your base really is impressive. The zombie kings inside the base are strictly controlled, while the zombie kings outside the base are hypnotised and controlled.”
Xin Nuo shook her head. “It was like that at first, but there are still many zombie kings they failed to control in time attacking the base. If there weren’t a ring of low-rank ability users around the base constantly monitoring and reporting, the base would be attacked every day by zombie kings leading hordes of zombies.”
Those who raised gu had to face the risk of backlash at any moment. This group of ability users who raised zombies was the same.
And in order to raise the zombie kings to the highest possible rank before killing them for crystal cores, they could only allow the zombie kings outside to keep increasing in danger level.
Putting aside everything else, the seventh-rank fire-type zombie king Fu Erdie had encountered on the road was probably one they had hypnotised and released, intending to use another’s strength to kill their enemy.
Fu Erdie estimated that when Qing City released that fire-type zombie king, it should only have been sixth rank—within the range Qing City believed it could control.
But on the way to find Fu Erdie, that zombie king had eaten its zombie companions while travelling and forcefully raised itself to seventh rank. If Fu Erdie had not dealt with it, that would absolutely have been the beginning of Qing City Base losing control over the zombie kings it raised.
“Actually, the zombie king you encountered on the road isn’t the only one the base hypnotised with mental abilities. There are six others. But they’re fifth-rank zombies, and their intelligence isn’t especially high, so they may not have found the right place.”
Fu Erdie’s hand paused.
“There are six more?”
Xin Nuo nodded repeatedly. “But they’re all fifth rank. They won’t pose a threat to you.”
Fu Erdie clenched her fist.
They might not pose a threat to her, but that might not be true for the plant cubs and Senyu Community!
Those zombie kings were fifth rank when they were released. Who knew whether they might become sixth rank after walking all that way outside?
What if they did not run into her and instead went straight to the community, or to the plants stationed in Building Seven at Jian City?
The hotpot in her hand suddenly stopped tasting good. Fu Erdie’s group tidied away the bowls and chopsticks, cleaned up, and quickly prepared to sleep.
The two groups did not stay in the same factory building. Tan Haoge returned to the workshop they had used earlier and, for once, fell asleep full and without the stabbing pain of his wounds.
Early the next morning, Fu Erdie took out the telegraph machine and contacted her companions at eight o’clock sharp.
The companions who had been keeping watch on the other end reacted quickly and replied at once.
Fu Erdie’s group received news that was neither good nor bad.
Building Seven in Jian City had discovered two waves of zombie hordes with sixth-rank zombie kings by the river.
The plants in Building Seven had taken the building and sunk into the riverbed—interestingly, the riverbed was at zero degrees, which was warmer than the minus five or six degrees on the river surface—while the zombie kings on the riverbank, having lost their target, began fighting each other. King could not tolerate king.
Fu Erdie: “…”
Both zombie kings were fire-type, but since they had not reached seventh rank, they could not directly evaporate the river water and roast Building Seven dry. They fought, but their battle did not affect the plants.
The person stationed in Building Seven had already found a chance to inform Senyu Community in advance and was waiting for eight o’clock to update Fu Erdie.
Now, Fu Erdie had two choices: turn back and deal with those sixth-rank zombie kings, or go straight for the heart of the problem and deal with Qing City Base first.
After repeatedly confirming the situation at Building Seven and Senyu Community, Fu Erdie chose the latter.
The reason the zombie kings were targeting her and Butterfly Garden was Qing City Base’s mental ability hypnosis. While those zombie kings still could not do anything to Building Seven at the bottom of the river, and while the community had not yet been found by any other zombie kings, Fu Erdie decided to solve Qing City Base first, directly cutting off the problem at its root before rushing back.
After making the decision, Fu Erdie set off according to the route Xin Nuo had recommended on the map.
The gale was still strong along the way. It slowed Fu Erdie’s movements, but it also made the Qing City ability users active in the surrounding area less sharp than usual.
Fu Erdie avoided the second- and third-rank people who were clearly just cannon fodder from Qing City Base. After many twists and turns, she reached the outermost edge of Qing City Base, opened her vision to its widest and farthest range, and searched for the base’s mental-type ability user.
Using mental abilities with her seventh-rank strength, the range she could cover was greater than the other party’s. She locked onto his position before he could lock onto hers. The moment he noticed and tried to counterattack, Fu Erdie launched a mental attack together with her push-pull ability, directly forcing his ability back.
The mental-type ability user was clever. He did not confront her head-on. Instead, he immediately left the room and ran toward Ying Da’s location. Clearly, he knew he could not win and intended to report the situation.
He was fast, and there were speed-type ability users patrolling downstairs. Fu Erdie was still dozens of kilometres away, so she clearly could not make it in time.
But it did not matter. After confirming that the mental-type ability user did not dare to fight back or probe her, Fu Erdie no longer bothered hiding. She directly took her companions and flew toward the zombie king breeding area.
