Side Story One: The Grand Wedding (4)
After seeing Aunt Hua, Jiu Qing, and the others off, Mu Wanwan swiftly stuffed the small box Jiu Qing had given her into her mustard-seed space. Even after putting it away, her hand still felt slightly hot.
A certain dragon, dressed in moon-white brocade robes, approached her with the distinct air of someone feeling jealous—
He had never quite let go of the fact that Jiu Qing had once tried to stop him from taking Mu Wanwan away. Nor had he forgotten her words, *“I like her very much.”*
Although he knew perfectly well that nothing could ever happen between the two women, and that his behaviour was terribly childish, he still could not control himself.
Mr. Dragon wrapped his large hand around Mu Wanwan’s. He noticed that his little wife’s face was unusually red today, and when she raised her eyes towards him, she appeared somewhat flustered.
“Madam?” Sensing something, he suppressed the curve that instinctively threatened to lift the corners of his lips. “They’ve already gone far away.”
“Mm.” Mu Wanwan responded and tightened her hand around his.
His gaze fell upon the strands of hair beside her temple that had been tousled by the cold wind. Mr. Dragon reached out and gently smoothed them into place, warmth filling his voice.
“Let’s go back and check on Yu’er.”
“All right.” She met his dark eyes and curved her lips into a smile.
…
His old father brought back all sorts of strange things to feed him every day. The large fluffy ball was doing much better than before. He had grown a little smaller compared to the last time Mu Wanwan had seen him, while his life force had become noticeably stronger.
While waiting for Mengmeng to recover, Mu Wanwan and Mr. Dragon spent almost all their time together, apart from dealing with the aftermath of the great battle.
Most of that time was spent “cultivating” together—
Her current body could be considered a spiritual being. With her previous experience, she smoothly broke through to the third rank, and she had even managed to draw out a small amount of spiritual consciousness.
However…
“……”
Mu Wanwan helplessly sensed the spiritual consciousness surrounding her like surging tides. When she opened her eyes, she saw Mr. Dragon sitting opposite her, his gaze filled with barely concealed restraint. The instant their eyes met, he immediately closed his eyes and pretended to be cultivating.
Hadn’t he promised to teach her how to cultivate her spiritual consciousness?
What was with that expression…?
His spiritual consciousness clung tightly to the few weak strands of hers, refusing to let go. Yet before she became overwhelmed, fine beads of sweat had already appeared across his forehead, sliding past the deep hollows of his eyes.
“Mr. Dragon…” Mu Wanwan’s head felt slightly dizzy. Forcing herself to stand, she swayed unsteadily before sitting beside him. “I’m a little tired.”
Her presence was now directly beside him, so the dragon stopped pretending to cultivate. He abruptly opened his eyes, wrapped a long arm around her, and pulled her into his embrace. Withdrawing his spiritual consciousness, he restrained himself and kissed her lightly upon the lips.
There were still more than ten days left.
He only needed to endure for another ten days.
Mu Wanwan watched as the kiss began domineeringly but ended with such restraint. She had originally thought it might turn into a deep kiss.
In truth, she had already prepared herself mentally over the past several days. Although they spent most of their time cultivating and refining low-rank pills, and the dragon often went out, they had still slept together once or twice.
And yet…
Nothing had happened at all! =-=!
Sometimes, she could clearly sense that the dragon was nearly unable to restrain himself. However, she felt too embarrassed to take the initiative and say anything. Yet after touching her, he would always stop at the most intimate moment, then stare at her with the domineering gaze of someone silently declaring, *I’ll keep teasing you for a few more days.*
It left her feeling relieved, but also somehow frightened.
She kept feeling that something terrifying would happen in the future.
Just like now.
With the tips of his ears bright red, Mr. Dragon pecked her lips several times. He then picked her up and placed her on the bed, removed her shoes and socks, tucked her beneath the blankets, and carefully secured the edges.
“Sleep.”
Mu Wanwan: “……”
She caught hold of his wrist.
“I’m cold.”
The dragon stared at her several times, his thoughts wavering between using magic to warm the room and lying beside her so they could sleep pressed together.
Mu Wanwan rolled farther into the bed, lifted the blanket, and patted the empty space beside her. She said nothing and merely looked at him.
A moment later, the mattress sank beneath another person’s weight.
Mr. Dragon wrapped his arms around her, the end of his sentence carrying a trace of indulgence.
“Are you warm now?”
Mu Wanwan rested her head against his chest.
“A little warmer.”
She adjusted her position within his arms, enjoying the warmth that was considerably greater than the temperature outside. Listening to his slightly unnatural breathing, she closed her eyes and gradually fell asleep.
Since the dragon had teased her earlier, she naturally had to tease him in return.
Mu Wanwan fell asleep, but Mr. Dragon was truly trapped in torment, his entire body feeling unbearably uncomfortable.
It was painful.
He wanted Madam to touch him.
But he hoped to keep Mu Wanwan by his side for a while—perhaps for thirty or fifty years.
Ever since the dragon had met the Alliance Leader, he had remained silent.
He knew that they owed the leader an enormous debt of gratitude.
Moreover, becoming the leader’s disciple would only benefit Madam. Although he himself was very powerful, the techniques he had mastered were mostly things like how to wield a dragon’s tail and use dragon horns. He knew a little about pill refining, but not very much. He could not compare with the Alliance Leader.
And so…
He wanted to let her make the decision herself.
He could wait.
What were thirty or fifty years?
Even if it took three lifetimes or five, he could still wait.
While Mu Wanwan performed the formal ceremony to acknowledge her master, he stood quietly and forlornly in a corner, watching her from a distance.
He thought that perhaps they were about to be separated.
Therefore, when Mu Wanwan walked over, linked her arm through his and smilingly explained that she had merely become the Alliance Leader’s nominal disciple and did not need to return with him to the Alliance of Special Lifeforms, the dragon embarrassingly ended up with reddened eyes.
That was wonderful.
He knew he was being terribly undignified for a dragon, but he still could not restrain himself. Right in front of the Alliance Leader—who had helped them so much and had regretfully lost his personal disciple—Mr. Dragon kissed her.
He nearly angered the leader into collapsing.
Remembering it, Mu Wanwan still felt like laughing.
“After our grand wedding, we’ll go and visit Master.”
Mr. Dragon gently rested a hand on her shoulder.
“You must be tired. Let me carry you.”
Chi Yan could no longer bear watching them. She waved them away, though the corners of her lips curved upwards.
“Go, go. Hurry up and leave.”
She truly did not want to watch these two display their affection any longer.
Mu Wanwan waved goodbye to her. In the next instant, she disappeared from Chi Yan’s sight.
Chi Yan stopped smiling. She looked up at the sky, which had remained clear for only a short while before becoming covered in dark clouds once more, and sighed helplessly.
“I knew it.”
How could Yifa City possibly experience several consecutive days of clear weather?
It had simply been because that dragon did not want his wife to face a grey sky every day.
He had exchanged so many valuable things from her, and they would often appear on Mu Wanwan the very next day.
Yet he never said a word about it.
What a contrary dragon.
Snowflakes began drifting down. Chi Yan stopped thinking about them, turned around and entered the Xianqing Pavilion.
…
Mu Wanwan soon followed Mr. Dragon to their “new home.”
She had assumed it would be in the dragon clan’s capital, but when she opened her eyes, she found herself on the small island that had been almost entirely transformed.
The original wooden cottage had been replaced by an enormous courtyard residence, several times larger than the estate where they had lived before. The carvings had been made with great care, and everything looked brand-new.
Its style differed from the buildings in the capital. It had several storeys and even possessed something of a modern appearance.
“We’re home,” Mr. Dragon murmured beside her ear.
Mu Wanwan felt somewhat moved.
So when the dragon had occasionally disappeared for long periods, had he been coming here to build their house?
Still, she truly did not want to say it aloud, but the large red lanterns hanging outside and the red **double-happiness** characters pasted across nearly every wall were… honestly rather unattractive.
