Extra 3: If Life Has Reincarnation (1)
Another half a year passed.
Tiantian grew at an astonishing rate and ate more than anyone else. Not only had her strength broken through to the third tier, but she was already nearly as tall as Mu Wanwan’s thigh and spoke extremely fluently. Jiaojiao still could not transform into human form, though he had clearly grown quite a bit as well.
Only Mengmeng lagged behind. Although he had finally broken through to the second tier, his human form was still barely the same height as his younger sister.
Mr. Dragon had finally learned how to win his daughter over. However, Mu Wanwan discovered that his “cold and powerful” image in the children’s hearts did not seem to have been overturned merely because he had revealed his dragon horns and ears.
Whenever Tiantian became mischievous and insisted on eating her older brother—for some reason—Mu Wanwan was unable to pull the little cub away and had to rely on Mr. Dragon.
With one large hand, he would grab Tiantian by the back of her collar. It was as though an entire mountain were pressing down on her; no matter how much she struggled, she could not escape.
Those were also the moments when Mengmeng felt closest to Mr. Dragon. The poor little fellow would cling to his old father’s leg, gazing pitifully at his younger sister with his large, glossy black eyes.
A few times, Tiantian became so wilful that she simply bit her father’s hand. The result was…
Mu Wanwan almost wanted to laugh. Mr. Dragon did not feel a thing, but Tiantian hurt herself so badly that she burst into tears.
From then on, she remembered the lesson and became slightly afraid of her old father.
Mu Wanwan had once discussed Mengmeng’s slow growth and Jiaojiao’s inability to transform with Mr. Dragon.
The dragon’s lips curved faintly, but Mu Wanwan could clearly recognise the worry in his dark eyes.
Although Mengmeng had successfully undergone nirvana, the process had ultimately left some lingering damage to his body. He needed to be carefully nursed back to health, and it did not matter if he grew slowly.
As for Jiaojiao, he resembled Mr. Dragon when he was younger. He was unlike Tiantian, who had been born a pure-blooded five-clawed golden dragon. Although Jiaojiao’s natural talent was excellent, he would still have to endure many hardships before reaching Mr. Dragon’s present level.
Mu Wanwan kissed the corner of his lips to comfort him. They still had a very, very long time ahead of them and could gradually teach all three children.
After discussing it, the human and the dragon devised an educational plan for the dragon cubs.
Tiantian was too powerful, so they could not allow her to stray down the wrong path.
Mengmeng needed plenty of nourishment and more training to improve his ability to protect himself. However, if he did not wish to become powerful, they could also protect him for the rest of his life.
Jiaojiao was far too delicate and needed proper training.
Mr. Dragon wrapped his arms around his wife’s waist and responded with a somewhat domineering, deep kiss, showing that he had accepted her comfort.
…
Their days passed peacefully.
One rather cold and rainy night, Mr. Dragon and Mu Wanwan coaxed the cubs to sleep. Then Mr. Dragon took his wife by the hand and led her outside.
Although they had been together for so many years, whenever he was in front of his wife, he was still the same dragon cub who loved to act spoiled. He still wanted very, very much to spend a long time alone with her every day.
Mu Wanwan hesitated. Thinking that they would only go out for a walk and return shortly, she did not refuse.
Jiaojiao and Tiantian were sleeping soundly against Mengmeng, who had transformed into a plump little chirp.
Perhaps because two dragons were pressing against him at once, Mengmeng felt slightly uncomfortable and shifted in his sleep.
As a result, Jiaojiao, who had been lying on his older brother, pitifully rolled onto the floor.
The little dragon cub was still somewhat dazed. He opened his sleepy eyes, shook his head, and woke up.
Tiantian cracked her eyes open. Seeing that it was only her younger brother, she went back to sleep. Apart from fluffy things and food, sleeping was one of her favourite activities.
Jiaojiao gradually became more alert. Placing his little paws on the floor, he crawled a few steps outside the room and instinctively looked around.
Usually, Mother would be making clothes for them at this time.
But this time, the room was dark, and Mother was nowhere to be seen.
“Wu—”
Where had Mother gone?
Jiaojiao became anxious and searched all around, only to discover that Father was gone too.
Supporting himself on his hind legs, he looked outside. Rain was falling in a steady drizzle, and it appeared quite cold.
Could Mother and Father be in the courtyard?
Sometimes, Mother went to the spiritual fields to check on the little plants.
With that thought, little baby Jiaojiao—whose mental age might not even have reached three—stretched out his front paw and scratched at the door for a long time before finally managing to push it open.
But he quickly discovered that he could not get out.
Would Mr. Dragon ever leave the house without placing a barrier around it?
Impossible. →_→
And so, the dragon cub Jiaojiao stared outside. Unable to leave despite desperately wanting to, he began to cry.
He cried for a while until he became tired, then simply lay on the floor and fell asleep.
After he fell asleep, a faint white glow gradually appeared around him.
The points of light surrounded Jiaojiao, and soon, the little cub who had been clinging to the door disappeared.
A short while later, Tiantian woke after noticing that the fluffy sensation beside her hand was gone. She walked out of the room on her short legs and saw the half-open door, but Jiaojiao was nowhere in sight.
Confused, she called, “Jiaojiao?”
…
Jiaojiao, who had been sleeping soundly, soon woke up.
When he opened his eyes, he seemed to have unexpectedly arrived somewhere completely different.
Everything around him was pitch-black. Back at home, although the rooms could sometimes be rather dark, Jiaojiao had never felt such a sinister chill or been so frightened.
But now, he stared with wide eyes at the unfamiliar room submerged in darkness. A thunderstorm raged outside, yet the air remained filled with a powerful, impossible-to-ignore scent of blood—one he had never smelled before.
Jiaojiao became frightened.
“Wu…”
Tears were already gathering in his eyes, but Jiaojiao instinctively covered his large mouth.
Father was not here. Mother was not here. Neither his older brother nor his older sister was here.
Jiaojiao was a man. He could not cry so easily.
It was only a little dark here. He was not afraid at all!
“Sniff…”
The sound of a wooden chair scraping across the floor produced a harsh, piercing noise. Despite insisting that he was not frightened, Jiaojiao could not stop his entire body from trembling.
He curled up in a corner and stared as a dark shadow moved not far away.
That “thing” moved extremely slowly. A strong, foul odour drifted from its body.
Jiaojiao covered his mouth and waited.
He waited and waited for a very long time before the “thing” finally stood up.
Jiaojiao’s paws had begun to feel numb, and he wanted to shift them. But just then, lightning suddenly flashed outside the window, illuminating the dark figure.
Jiaojiao finally saw its indistinct outline.
Its entire body seemed terribly frightening.
That was Jiaojiao’s first reaction.
Was the broken thing on its head a horn?
Could it be a dragon, just like him?
That was Jiaojiao’s second reaction.
Another bolt of lightning flashed.
The monster-like figure slowly turned its gaze towards the corner where Jiaojiao was hiding.
Its eyes were questioning and terrifyingly unfamiliar. They contained such intense killing intent that Jiaojiao’s fur stood on end, though the creature seemed merely to glance over casually.
Jiaojiao finally saw its face.
Tears uncontrollably flooded his eyes and fell with soft pattering sounds.
Beneath those terrifying, hideous scars was a face he knew better than any other.
It was Father.
