MDMSC Chapter 14

You Want to Be My Mistress?

Fang Anyu did not understand liking someone, nor did he know how to express it accurately. He had spent most of the night thinking, yet still had not been able to figure out why his heart had been unable to calm down for so long.

He could only rely on instinct and move closer.

Instinct, much of the time, was the truest reflection of the heart. Just like when you liked someone, you would want to get close to them, touch them, and possess them.

From childhood to adulthood, Fang Anyu had lived a life precious enough that everything had been prepared for him and delivered to him. But things he actively asked for—at some unknown point, those had stopped existing.

Wanting so urgently to be close to someone like this was something he had never experienced before.

Jun Yueyue was still groggy, her brain not fully awake. She was being pressed down like Mount Tai and her mouth was blocked, unable to speak. If it had been anyone else, she would have slapped them long ago.

But Fang Anyu’s presence was too gentle. Even when he was acting like a hooligan, he was like a soft little rabbit kicking its legs. It could not trigger Jun Yueyue’s alertness. She only found him cute.

She narrowed her eyes and looked at Fang Anyu, made a few muffled sounds, and simply relaxed, indulging Fang Anyu’s nonsense.

Fang Anyu was extremely direct. He did not hide his intention. He pulled the quilt over and wrapped Jun Yueyue inside it. But for some reason, even though the arrow was already on the string, he still did not release it…

Jun Yueyue could not hold back and started laughing again. She lifted the quilt and looked at Fang Anyu, whose face was bright red, for a moment. Then she reached to the wall beside her and turned on the room light.

The dazzling light came on. Jun Yueyue covered her eyes with her arm and yawned.

“Oh my heavens…” Jun Yueyue muttered. She climbed up and leaned against the headboard, then patted Fang Anyu’s shoulder with a clear *smack*. “You acting like a hooligan in the middle of the night is one thing, but doing it halfway and leaving someone hanging? You’ve learned bad habits.”

Fang Anyu saw her speaking but did not know what she was saying. An anxious expression appeared on his face. He grabbed the newspaper beside him, scribbled messily on it a few times, and handed it to Jun Yueyue.

Their clothes had basically all been kicked to the foot of the bed. They were wrapped tightly in one quilt, pressed close together like two hamsters huddling together for winter.

Fang Anyu suddenly braking at the critical moment left Jun Yueyue both puzzled and amused.

Jun Yueyue took the newspaper and glanced at it. Written on it was—

You were frowning just now. Does it hurt, or are you unwilling?

Jun Yueyue curled her lips. It did hurt a little, but with this kind of thing, it would be fine after a couple of times. As for whether she was willing…

Was her attitude not obvious enough? If she truly had not been willing, she would have kicked him under the bed long ago.

She would not take the initiative to trick Fang Anyu into doing anything with her, but she had no real moral integrity either. No promises, no taking initiative, no rejection, and no responsibility—that was her principle in life. If Fang Anyu took the initiative, then it did not count as her deceiving him. After all, they were both adults. Having some fun was no big deal.

The atmosphere just now had been quite good. That half-asleep, half-awake state had indeed made a person restless. But once the light was turned on and she sat up, she became alert and clear-headed, and no longer felt like going with the flow.

Besides, the environment of this small inn was truly unsuitable. On top of that, Jun Yu and Fang Anyan were staying next door. If the two of them really started fooling around, Jun Yueyue was not someone who would restrain herself. With only one thin board separating the rooms, the people next door would hear it as clearly as if they were recording sound on-site.

Just thinking of seeing Fang Anyan the next morning and him definitely nagging again made Jun Yueyue annoyed.

So after hesitating for a while, Jun Yueyue lowered her head and wrote—

Your brother is next door. This little inn only has a board separating the rooms. It isn’t soundproof at all. Besides, your brother warned me not to touch you. Do you know that?

Fang Anyu took it and looked at it. Then he suddenly turned his head to look at both sides. His expression was very interesting, like a kitten that had stolen a fish and still had it in its mouth, only to be told that the fishpond owner had already seen it. It panicked, looking left and right, not knowing where to run.

Jun Yueyue reached out and smoothed down a tuft of his curls that had stuck up, then continued writing—

Baby, stop messing around. Sleep. It’s almost dawn.

Fang Anyu’s inexplicable impulse from earlier had indeed faded after the two of them sat up like this. But he still really wanted to know the answer to the question he had asked before Jun Yueyue fell asleep.

So he wrote it again—

If you marry my younger brother, will you still…

*Smack.*

When Jun Yueyue saw that he had written halfway, she pressed her hand down on his.

She snatched the pen and wrote underneath—

I won’t marry your brother. But if I marry someone else, then of course I won’t have any kind of relationship with you anymore.

Fang Anyu took the newspaper and looked at it for a while, then stubbornly asked—

Why?

This person was really too stubborn. Jun Yueyue also became competitive with him. She slapped her thigh, leaned against the headboard, grabbed the newspaper and pen, and began giving him a lesson.

If I have a marriage relationship with someone else and still have a relationship with you, that’s cheating. It’s immoral.

After Jun Yueyue finished writing, she laughed. A person like her, whose life standards had no moral bottom line, was actually staying awake in the middle of the night explaining morality to a little fool.

After a while, Fang Anyu replied—

I know cheating. But on television and in novels, there is a kind of person called a lover.

Jun Yueyue’s brows rose very high after reading this.

You mean a mistress? Are you asking me to be your mistress? Or are you going to be mine?

After Fang Anyu read it, he nodded. Under Jun Yueyue’s amazed gaze, he wrote—

I’ll be yours.

Jun Yueyue had never received a man’s confession in this lifetime. She had not expected that the first time someone confessed to her, he would want to be her mistress.

She found that whenever she was with Fang Anyu, he could always make her unable to hold back laughter. Even being woken up in the middle of the night like this, like some kind of lunatic, did not make her unhappy at all.

She looked at Fang Anyu’s serious expression and laughed a little uncontrollably.

Who knew what television dramas and books Fang Anyu usually watched? Could they all be singing praises of mistresses?

She took the pen, scratched her head a few times with it, pinched Fang Anyu’s cheek, and wrote again—

But that’s immoral. And if that happened, you and I would have to sneak around. We couldn’t let anyone know. Would that still be okay?

Fang Anyu seemed to have fallen into a dead end. His two brows were furrowed so hard they were almost tangled together.

He knew that kind of thing was wrong. But why exactly was it wrong? He had seen many things, and everyone had different views. For example, one book said people should be upright, examine themselves three times a day, have noble character, and act with a clear conscience. But the next book might teach that people should live freely, without restraint, remain true to their hearts, and live unrestrained lives.

As for television, it was even more chaotic, making Fang Anyu even more confused. What exactly was morality?

After thinking and thinking, he still wanted to follow his own thoughts. After a while, he replied—

Yes. I won’t tell anyone. You shouldn’t say anything either.

After Jun Yueyue read it, she did not know whether to laugh or cry.

Feeling like teasing him again, she wrote—

Maybe I’ll make you wait for me in heavy rain or heavy snow, but I might not go. Would that still be fine?

It’s fine. I can wait.

There’s no wall in the world that doesn’t let wind through. One day, people will find out. When that happens, your brother will get angry at you. Aren’t you afraid?

I’m afraid, but my brother won’t really do anything.

But if my husband finds out, you’ll also get beaten. He’ll beat you until your head is bleeding and your front teeth fly everywhere. Can you withstand that?

Jun Yueyue watched Fang Anyu hesitate. Holding back a smile, she thought he was finally going to retreat. But then Fang Anyu wrote—

Will your husband hit you?

Maybe. Aren’t you afraid he’ll hit you?

I’m afraid. I don’t know how to fight… but I’m more afraid he’ll hit you.

The edges and corners of the newspaper had already been filled with their writing. Jun Yueyue looked at Fang Anyu’s last sentence, and for no reason, felt as if someone had taken a stick and poked her heart.

There was no earth-shattering feeling. Instead, it poked into something slightly sour and aching.

She shook out the newspaper, flipped it over, folded another side, and wrote—

Even if you’re not afraid, it still won’t work. I can’t let you be my lover.

After Fang Anyu read it, he quickly wrote again—

Why? You can let him hit me. I won’t fight back.

Are you only willing to be my lover because you want to do it with me?

It’s fine if we don’t do it. Staying together, eating together, sleeping together, and talking like this—is that not okay?

How could that be okay? If they were not lovers and not boyfriend and girlfriend, the only relationship that could fulfil those conditions was husband and wife.

At first, Jun Yueyue had been teasing Fang Anyu for fun. But as she teased him, what she wrote became increasingly excessive. She wanted to scare Fang Anyu away, but she had not expected his expression to become more and more serious. He was even seriously considering the feasibility.

He was thinking of every way possible to lower his demands as much as he could in order to achieve the goal of becoming her little lover.

No demands. Willing to sneak around. It was fine even if he got beaten. He could keep waiting. It was even fine if they did not do it… If the two of them had not only met two or three days ago, Jun Yueyue would have suspected that Fang Anyu had fallen for her.

After all, if he really did everything Jun Yueyue had described, how humble would he have to be? How much would he have to like someone?

Jun Yueyue circled her fingers over Fang Anyu’s face a few times, tapped the tip of his nose, lowered her head, and wrote—

You couldn’t have fallen for me, could you?

Almost the instant she finished writing, Fang Anyu immediately snatched the pen and wrote beside Jun Yueyue’s sentence—

Yes. I like you.

Fang Anyu replied too quickly. So quickly that Jun Yueyue felt as if she were communicating with a normal person.

She stared at the words “I like you” on the newspaper and froze. It was undeniable that, for a novice who had never been confessed to before, words written on paper could be even more moving than hearing someone say them aloud.

Jun Yueyue’s breathing stopped for an instant. But a moment later, she raised her head and met Fang Anyu’s overly clear gaze, so clear one could see straight to the bottom. With a *pfft*, she laughed again.

“You don’t even know what morality is. What the hell do you know about liking someone…”

Jun Yueyue had seen all kinds of liking. In the apocalypse, there had been separations between life and death, people sharing joys and hardships, feelings wrapped in desire or mixed with selfish motives. There were all kinds of forms, but there was no kind of liking that carried no desire or expectation at all.

Fang Anyu’s eyes were too clean. Jun Yueyue felt a little ashamed that she had actually been struck for a moment by his two words, “I like you.”

She attributed all of this to the fact that she really needed to find herself a partner. After they went back this time, she had to cut through the mess quickly and find herself a real man as soon as possible. Otherwise, she would even start believing the words of a little fool.

Jun Yueyue muttered something, crumpled the newspaper into a ball, threw it onto the floor, pulled the quilt over, pressed Fang Anyu down to lie down, reached out to turn off the light, patted his shoulder, and said without caring whether he could hear her or not, “Sleep!”

Sometimes Fang Anyu would also refuse to communicate. He knew Jun Yueyue did not want to talk anymore.

In the darkness, he slowly bit his lip. He had never met anyone with this much patience, someone who, even if woken in the middle of the night, was still willing to talk with him like this.

But Jun Yueyue had not agreed to him. Fang Anyu lay on the pillow and looked at Jun Yueyue in the darkness, feeling a little sad.

Fang Anyu was rarely sad. He knew he could not speak or hear, and that his reactions were especially slow. No matter who communicated with him, it was very tiring for them.

So their impatience and the way they kept a respectful distance from him were things Fang Anyu could understand. He also did not mind.

This was the first time he had met someone like Jun Yueyue. She had never treated him like a disabled person.

Yet she had also accepted his incompleteness the fastest and most naturally, without a forced smile or suppressed impatience. Fang Anyu was slow, but he truly was not stupid. He could feel what kind of attitude others had toward him. He liked being with Jun Yueyue. He liked being treated like a normal person.

He felt a little… unwilling to divorce.

After the divorce, she would be with someone else. No matter who it was, communicating with that person would definitely be much easier than being with him… She also did not agree to let him be her lover. Would they still have a chance to meet again?

Fang Anyu buried his head in the pillow and sighed softly.

Jun Yueyue closed her eyes and soon fell asleep again. Fang Anyu, however, let his thoughts wander for a long time before finally sleeping.

It had been a very long time since he had thought about something so complicated. Even his dreams were not peaceful. He only fell asleep close to dawn, but the next day, he woke up very early, looking very unwell.

The four of them ate a simple breakfast, then continued driving toward Xiude Town. Last night’s incident had delayed Fang Anyan’s schedule. The originally calculated round-trip time had to be postponed. After the car had been driving for three hours and turned onto the rural road toward Xiude Town, Fang Anyan and Jun Yueyue switched places again. He opened his laptop, made phone calls, and squeezed in a video meeting.

This time, Jun Yueyue drove very steadily. Fang Anyan kept frowning and losing his temper into the phone. Jun Yu sat beside him, helping him hold the laptop, while Fang Anyu… kept looking out the window.

Since waking up that morning, Jun Yueyue had noticed that something was wrong with Fang Anyu. At first, she thought it was because they had been chased by a group of people last night and he was tired. He looked a little listless. Even Jun Yueyue’s legs were a little sore when she got up in the morning.

But during breakfast, Fang Anyu put down his chopsticks without her watching him. After they bought a new little notebook, he also did not communicate with anyone. He was so quiet it was strange. When they were in the back seat, he kept his head turned toward the car window the entire time. Even when Jun Yueyue secretly hooked his finger, he barely reacted.

But when Jun Yueyue fell asleep in the back seat, she still leaned against him when she woke up, and Fang Anyu did not push her away. So Jun Yueyue thought Fang Anyu was probably fine. After all, she was not some delicate-minded girl.

But now, it was already noon, and they were about to enter Xiude Town. Fang Anyu was still looking out the window like that, his neck constantly turned in the same direction. Jun Yueyue was afraid that when he turned back later, his head would fall off with a crack.

Only then did she belatedly react. Could this little fool be… angry?

Jun Yueyue looked back at him from time to time, recalling last night. The only thing worth being angry about was that she had not gone along with him and rolled around once in the small inn.

So he was dissatisfied because his desires had not been fulfilled.

Jun Yueyue could not help laughing and ignored him.

At last, they saw the sign for Xiude Town. The sign was blue with white paint, a little faded, and stuck crookedly by the road. Although Xiude Town was called a town, in reality, it was just a village. The car turned at the village entrance, and the asphalt road became a cement road.

There were no potholes, but the road was very narrow. Fang Anyan had already closed his laptop and phone, tidied himself up, and was sitting upright in the back seat. Jun Yu was also sitting with her back straight. The two of them looked like a couple about to take a marriage registration photo, stiff in perfect synchrony.

In reality, it was almost the same. On the surface, Old Master Jun had summoned them this time to meet the original owner Jun Yue’s new husband, but in truth, the two main people he wanted to see were the two in the back.

If nothing unexpected happened, not long after they returned, those two in the back would also get engaged. In the plot, before Jun Yu and Fang Anyan got engaged, the original owner had done all sorts of things to sabotage it, doing many crazy acts. On the day of the engagement, she had also thoroughly disgraced herself. And this time, she had completely failed Old Master Jun’s test. Watching helplessly as the person she liked got engaged to her younger sister, the original owner had begun to lose her mind completely.

But speaking of losing one’s mind, when Jun Yueyue drove into this poor and remote place yet saw a two-storey villa with a large gate, she thought of that part of the plot and could not help rubbing the goosebumps on her arms.

This meeting with Old Master Jun came with an even more insane request from him: between the two Jun sisters, whoever got pregnant first would get that piece of land. His reason was that he was old and wanted to see the next generation before he was buried.

Jun Yu and Fang Anyan were already engaged. If they had a child, they could simply get married because of the pregnancy. But what about the original owner, Jun Yue?

She was indeed married, but in her eyes, Fang Anyu was synonymous with intellectual disability and physical disability. She had never even considered sleeping with him to have a child. Who knew what kind of thing would be born? What if it was also disabled and mentally impaired?

The original owner had already lost Fang Anyan. She could not lose that piece of land too. And she believed that as long as she got the land, one day, Fang Anyan would still return to her side.

So she got pregnant by someone else, giving Fang Anyu a huge green hat…

A borrowed seed definitely would not work. In the end, Old Master Jun did not acknowledge it, and the scummy second-generation rich kid who provided the seed refused to acknowledge it even more.

When Jun Yueyue thought of this, she turned and looked at Fang Anyu walking behind her. Today, he was wearing a set of beige sporty fashion clothes. The feeling he gave off was the very definition of clean, soft, and harmless.

Putting a green hat on someone like him would be far too easy. He could not speak. Jun Yueyue dared to bet that if the original owner had treated Fang Anyu even slightly better, even if she gave birth to another man’s child and made him raise it, he would keep his mouth tightly shut.

After all, he was far too easy to bully. Forget blatantly making him a cuckold; he even wanted to openly be her little lover.

Fang Anyu kept his head lowered as he followed behind the others. Jun Yueyue waited a little, grabbed Fang Anyu’s hand, and squeezed it.

Since waking up that morning, Fang Anyu had not communicated with Jun Yueyue at all, not even with his eyes. But now, when Jun Yueyue held his hand, he finally could not hold back and held hers in return.

See? Not only was he easy to bully, he was especially easy to coax.

Aiya, she had never seen anyone this easy to coax.

Jun Yueyue held Fang Anyu’s hand, and the corners of her mouth unconsciously began to lift. Today, she could be considered specially dressed up. Her light blue long dress fell to her ankles, revealing her delicate curves completely. The dress did not have any fancy style, but it could not withstand the fact that the person wearing it was too bright and eye-catching. With her light-coloured curls, every bend of her hair seemed like a hook that could catch people’s eyes.

She and Fang Anyu had exactly the same hair colour. But the same hair colour and curly hair, growing on two different heads, gave off strangely different feelings—one flamboyant, one soft. Now, walking side by side while holding hands, they really looked like a deeply affectionate newlywed couple.

Fang Anyan pushed Jun Yu behind them. Looking at the two figures from behind, he also lost focus for a moment. But he did not want to admit that his brother and Jun Yueyue looked very well matched.

The courtyard was quite long. It was divided into small patches by little wooden-stick-style fences, arranged neatly and beautifully. But what was planted there was not decorative trees or flowers, but all kinds of fruits and vegetables.

Jun Yueyue looked around. The surrounding walls were also very high. This place had few people and inconvenient transport. If the apocalypse suddenly arrived like in the world where she had once lived, this place could actually hold out for quite some time.

While she was distracted, Fang Anyan raised his hand and knocked on the door.

The person who opened the door was an old lady in her fifties. She had kind brows and gentle eyes. She opened the living room door and let them sit first, saying warmly, “The old master is taking his afternoon nap. He told me that if you arrived, you should eat first and not wait for him.”

This old lady had been mentioned once in the plot. She was a servant who had taken care of Old Master Jun’s daily life her entire life. In the end, she had more or less passed away together with Old Master Jun.

When Jun Yueyue read the book, she had always felt that this old lady and Old Master Jun were probably a couple. It was just that, for some reason, they never made it public until death. Now that she had actually seen the real person, she was almost certain of it. What kind of servant dressed so exquisitely and luxuriously, with every word and action slow and unhurried, like the female owner of the house?

When the old lady looked over, Jun Yueyue quickly withdrew her examining gaze. The old lady asked whether they wanted to start eating. The four of them had rushed here in a hurry and were so hungry their backs were almost touching their stomachs. But eating the moment they arrived, without even waiting a little, was truly somewhat inappropriate.

So they declined politely and sat quietly in the living room to wait.

The old lady’s legs and feet were slow. She slowly brewed tea for them and brought some tea snacks. Jun Yueyue picked up the cup, blew on it until it was not hot, and then drank it like a cow. In any case, she did not know how to appreciate tea. To her, no tea tasted as good as iced black tea.

Fang Anyan, on the other hand, took one sip and quietly praised, “Good tea.”

The tea snacks looked very much to Jun Yueyue’s taste. Each one was small and antique-looking, not quite like something bought from outside. They came in all sorts of colours and gave off a milky, sweet fragrance.

No one moved. They all remained tense. Jun Yueyue was the first to reach out and take one to taste. It was not as sweet and greasy as it looked, and the milky fragrance was strong. She quickly took another piece and brought it to Fang Anyu’s mouth.

Fang Anyu had probably been instructed at home, because his first reaction was not to open his mouth, but to turn his head and look at Fang Anyan.

Jun Yueyue saw at once that Fang Anyan must have nagged Fang Anyu about something again. She immediately kicked him.

“Your brother has a bit of low blood sugar…”

Fang Anyan was very particular about etiquette. Things like tea snacks were basically just decoration. He had indeed told Fang Anyu that when they arrived here, he must not lose manners.

But his brother did indeed have a little low blood sugar… In the morning, he had forgotten to buy some things for the car ride.

Jun Yueyue even nudged him with her elbow, so Fang Anyan had no choice but to nod. Only then did Fang Anyu open his mouth and eat the snack.

“Is it good?” Jun Yueyue asked softly.

Fang Anyu could not hear, but over the past two days, Jun Yueyue would say some things to him in specific situations and let him guess.

She had just fed him something. Looking at the shape of her mouth, she had said three words. Fang Anyu actually nodded very quickly.

Jun Yueyue waggled her brows at him, while Fang Anyan froze with his teacup in hand.

His brother could not learn lip-reading and could not understand it. He would forget sign language even after learning it. They had all tried hard before… so why could he understand what this woman was saying?

Old Master Jun seemed prepared to sleep until dark. The group waited for more than an hour, yet there was still not the slightest movement upstairs.

Fang Anyan was still sitting with his back straight. Jun Yu was also tense and had not relaxed, though one could tell she was a little uncomfortable. Only Jun Yueyue was sprawled on the sofa, and she had given Fang Anyu the entire plate of snacks to eat.

Fang Anyu was not anxious because he was slow. Jun Yueyue was not anxious, not because she had good patience, but because she knew that from the moment they entered this courtyard, the test had begun.

Jun Yueyue had never intended to pass it anyway, so she did whatever made her comfortable. Three people sat properly on the sofa, while she alone sprawled out. She even wanted to drag Fang Anyu into sprawling out too, but Fang Anyan had instructed him beforehand, so no matter how she pulled him to lie down, he refused.

So in the whole room, only Jun Yueyue looked completely improper. One moment she was sprawled out, the next she got up and wandered around the room. She even caught one of the big-bellied goldfish from the fish tank near the entrance, cupped it in her hands, ran over to Fang Anyu, and cried out, “Look quickly!”

Fang Anyu’s eyes widened round. Apart from on television and on dinner plates, he had never seen a live fish before, especially not this kind of beautiful goldfish with a round belly and bulging eyes.

Goldfish could not be out of water for long, and they were easily hurt by being grabbed. Jun Yueyue carefully showed Fang Anyu for one glance, then hurriedly cupped it and put it back. Then she came to pull Fang Anyu over to look with her. This time, Fang Anyu could not resist. Ignoring Fang Anyan, he followed Jun Yueyue to the goldfish tank at the entrance of the living room to look at the fish.

After this kind of fish had been fed for a long time, it became a little foolish. When feeding it, one could poke it with a finger. Jun Yueyue grabbed Fang Anyu’s finger, scattered two pellets of fish food, then guided him to gently poke the fish’s head and belly. Fang Anyu’s expression was excited. His eyes were as bright as searchlights, and the corners of his mouth actually lifted slightly.

Then Jun Yueyue stopped looking at the fish. She stared blankly at Fang Anyu instead.

Fang Anyu smiled.

Jun Yueyue had not seen him smile once these past few days.

He looked truly beautiful when he smiled.
