Holding On and Refusing to Let Go — 3-in-1
After Fang Anyu read it, he froze for a moment, then frowned slightly. He took the phone and slowly typed another question—
But why would the big bad wolf like the little rabbit? They’re not even the same species. The books I read say that different species have reproductive isolation. They can’t be together, and their sizes are different too…
After Jun Yueyue took the phone, she could not help laughing again. She laughed *cluck, cluck, cluck*, the sound like an old hen, travelling far from the top of the pavilion. If a servant happened to come out of the villa at this time, they would probably be frightened into shivering.
After Jun Yueyue finished laughing, she took the phone and continued typing—
It’s a fairy tale. Of course you can’t understand it using reality. Rabbits in fairy tales are especially big. Big and white, and they match the big bad wolf especially well.
Fang Anyu took the phone and refuted—
Impossible. They simply can’t be together. Wolves eat meat, and rabbits eat grass. It doesn’t really like the rabbit. Does it want to carry the rabbit back to its den and eat it?
Jun Yueyue had never thought this kind of meaningless conversation could be so interesting. She continued making things up—
Eating it is definitely going to happen, but there isn’t only one way to eat. Do you understand?
Fang Anyu seemed to have encountered the problem of the century. After pondering for a very long time, he finally typed—
Then how will it eat it? If not raw, then in fairy tales, does the big bad wolf know how to make braised rabbit meat?
Jun Yueyue propped her fingers against the corners of her eyes. She felt like she was going to laugh herself into wrinkles at such a young age. She took the phone and thought about it. This kind of thing could only be understood implicitly. If she explained it too plainly, it would not be fun anymore.
She found two animated stickers implying “doing it” and wanted to show Fang Anyu, but then felt it was a little obscene. In the end, she deleted them and only typed one sentence—
It’s the same method you planned to use to eat me when we stayed at the little inn on the way here.
Fang Anyu processed this for a while. Then he abruptly turned his head to look at Jun Yueyue. His fingers pressed out a long string of letters on the phone. His ears slowly turned red from the roots, and the colour spread all the way to his face.
However, it was night, and the light was quite dim, so it was impossible to tell exactly how red he had become. But Jun Yueyue reached out and touched his face. It was very hot, like someone had poked him in the kidney. She started laughing again.
Fang Anyu also realised that Jun Yueyue had done it on purpose. In the end, he asked about the real ending of this fairy tale. Sure enough, it was as he had thought—the big bad wolf wanted to eat the little white rabbit.
But when he looked at the words “the big bad wolf wants to eat the little white rabbit” on the screen, he could no longer feel worried for the little white rabbit. As soon as he saw them, his face turned red.
Seeing that he was far too fun to tease, Jun Yueyue stayed there a while longer and told him other fairy tales too, such as *The Little Mermaid* and *Little Red Riding Hood*. But the endings of those stories all turned in directions that made Fang Anyu blush deeply.
For example, in *The Little Mermaid*, the prince was actually a woman disguised as a man and was in fact a princess. After the little mermaid came ashore and transformed into having two legs, she wore a little skirt to find the prince. But actually, beneath her skirt was eighteen centimetres, and with the princess pretending to be a prince, they did this and that, that and this, and then lived happily ever after.
With the little white rabbit as the foundation, Fang Anyu surprisingly did not have a particularly poor reaction to this heavy-flavoured version. It was just that his questions gradually became fewer, and his face burned more and more fiercely.
As for the story of *Little Red Riding Hood*, that was even harder to describe. It directly became a story where Granny, Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood, the three of them, did this and that, that and this, and then lived happily ever after.
In just one short hour, when the two of them climbed down from the pavilion and walked back toward the villa, Fang Anyu’s worldview had been shattered and glued back together, then glued back together and shattered again. His expression was dreamlike and dazed, and when he walked, it was as if he were stepping on cotton.
After being pulled back to the room by Jun Yueyue, he still had not recovered from those three worldview-destroying fairy tales. Through the first story, he knew Jun Yueyue had tricked him, but he wanted to believe the versions Jun Yueyue had told him even more. It was just that these versions were truly too…
The two of them lay under the quilt. It was already midnight. Fang Anyu tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Jun Yueyue also could not sleep because of all his tossing. She turned her head to look at him, smiling the whole time, and took the phone to type—
Why do you keep turning over? Are you not sleeping tonight?
Fang Anyu held the phone and hesitated for a while before asking the question that had been troubling him all this time—
Granny, Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood… can three people also… live happily together?
Jun Yueyue’s wicked pleasure in teasing people was thoroughly satisfied by Fang Anyu. Who would not like someone who believed everything you said, seriously thought about its feasibility, and even asked you questions? None of your words were ignored. How cute was that?
Jun Yueyue held the phone and thought for a while. At first, she wanted to find him some videos to broaden his horizons and let him know that the world was full of strange things.
But after thinking it over, she decided against it. Fang Anyu was so pure. Just hearing a few adapted fairy tales had tangled him up so much that he could not sleep. If she really showed him that kind of thing, would he not stand guard all night?
So Jun Yueyue only replied—
Three people can of course live happily together, but the prerequisite is that all of them are willing.
After Fang Anyu finished reading, he did not ask any more questions. The two of them soon fell asleep. But the next morning, after washing up and getting ready to go downstairs for breakfast, Fang Anyu handed Jun Yueyue the phone with words already typed out.
Then if we get divorced, and you marry someone else, if he’s willing, can the three of us live happily together?
Jun Yueyue had already developed a habit. Whenever she communicated with Fang Anyu, before she even saw what he had written, she could not help smiling first.
But after reading Fang Anyu’s words, Jun Yueyue’s smile gradually faded. She should not have told stories recklessly. Fang Anyu was truly too pure. It was inappropriate for her to do this.
She could say such terrifying things to scare Fang Anyan. She could say unpleasant things to Old Master Jun. But she had no way to hold even the slightest malice toward Fang Anyu.
Because Fang Anyu was transparent, pure in a way that reflected light. If you maliciously smeared anything onto a person like him, it would be clearly reflected back, making you ashamed, making you unable to do it.
So Jun Yueyue decided that she could not tease him like this anymore. She replied very seriously—
The fairy tales were made up by me. And besides, those things are only possible in fairy tales. You understand, right?
After Fang Anyu read it, he nodded, returned the phone to Jun Yueyue, and said nothing more. When they went downstairs to eat, he did not eat much either.
This time, Jun Yueyue noticed very quickly that his mood was off. Like last time, he kept staring blankly at one place, not communicating with anyone, as if he had sealed himself away.
She did not know that this was Fang Anyu’s method of self-protection. He knew it was impossible to maintain this kind of connection with Jun Yueyue forever. He could not be her lover, because she said that would be immoral. Nor could they be like the fairy tales, with three people living happily together. So, after they returned from here, they would separate.
Divorce.
Fang Anyu was certain that right now, he did not want to divorce. He wanted to live together with Jun Yueyue. But this did not seem possible.
Because before their marriage, the two families had already signed a contract. Divorce was only a matter of time. Fang Anyu knew what he had exchanged his marriage for—the Jun family’s financial support for the Fang family. He could no longer ask Jun Yueyue not to divorce.
Since there was no way to resolve it, he could only do what he had always done: try his best to make himself seem normal, not let himself, and not let Jun Yueyue, be troubled by this matter. This was something Fang Anyu was rather good at. He was good at making himself not troublesome.
But if he stopped talking like this, how could Jun Yueyue possibly ignore it? Seeing that he had not eaten much at breakfast, when they went upstairs, Jun Yueyue deliberately went to the kitchen and found some small snacks that could be held by hand, then brought them back to the room for Fang Anyu.
Fang Anyu did not take them. He only shook his head, not even lifting his eyes to look at Jun Yueyue.
Jun Yueyue stood by the bed for a while. Then she slowly crouched down in front of Fang Anyu, placed her hand on his knee, and looked up from below to meet his eyes.
*Are you angry with me?*
She mouthed the sentence slowly, repeating it twice. In this specific situation, Fang Anyu could understand, only a little slower.
Jun Yueyue waited very patiently. After quite a while, Fang Anyu slowly shook his head.
He was not angry. In fact, this version of him was the normal one.
Jun Yueyue sighed. She knew why, but even if she liked teasing Fang Anyu, she could not really be his lover or anything like that. As for not divorcing, Jun Yueyue had never considered it.
Why would she not divorce? She had struggled in the apocalypse for so many years. After transmigrating into this world, she had become the eldest young lady of the Jun family. She could get a lot of money and live the best life she wanted.
She had no need to entangle herself with Fang Anyu. That would inevitably make it impossible for her to break away from the main plotline, because Fang Anyu was a supporting character in the book. His later involvement with Jun Yu was an important part of the male and female lead’s storyline, and also a necessary process for their relationship to warm up and eventually become true love.
Jun Yueyue had transmigrated from that kind of world. There was not a single saintly bone in her body. She did not want to save anyone, nor did she want to change the plot between the male and female leads. She only wanted to live her own life.
As for Fang Anyu… being able to guarantee that she would not bully or use him during the time they spent together was already the entirety of her limited conscience.
Things she could not promise, she absolutely would not promise. Jun Yueyue stood up and did not pay Fang Anyu any further attention. Instead, she lay on the bed and played with her phone out of boredom.
Until noon, the two of them did not say a single word to each other. Even eye contact was very rare. Fang Anyu sat there the whole time, barely moving. When noon arrived, just as Jun Yueyue was about to be unable to hold on any longer, a servant finally came to call the two of them for lunch.
During lunch, Jun Yueyue placed food into Fang Anyu’s bowl twice. This was truly the only attempt she had ever made in her life to please the opposite sex. Fang Anyu also gave her face and quietly ate it all, but his state was still the same—very low.
Although Fang Anyan had been somewhat frightened by what Jun Yueyue had said last night, after a night passed, his fear had mostly disappeared. However, he had no intention of provoking Jun Yueyue either. Because last night, he had already obtained the answer he wanted: Jun Yueyue had no interest in that piece of land. That was enough.
When lunch was about to end, Old Master Jun, who had been sitting at the head of the table but had barely touched his chopsticks, finally spoke.
“You actually have an aunt. She’s in Taishan County, not far from here. Xiao Yu and Yueyue have never met her since childhood. Go see her this time.”
It was here.
Jun Yueyue put down her chopsticks and said inwardly, *The test plot is finally here.*
When she had read this part in the novel, Jun Yueyue had felt it was acceptable. When the male and female leads acted it out through words, everything seemed less problematic. But when she thought about having to experience this test herself, Jun Yueyue put down her chopsticks and felt like her non-existent balls ached a little.
After that, even the food did not taste as good. Once they finished eating and prepared to go to Taishan County, as Old Master Jun had said, to visit some non-existent aunt, the plot arrived right on time: the tire of the car they had driven here was flat.
Originally, this would not have been a big deal. There were so many cars in Old Master Jun’s garage, and they could simply drive any one of them. But this was a test plot. So after the four of them drove the car and had only just turned onto the main road, the car broke down.
Jun Yueyue was not surprised in the slightest. She sat in the back with Fang Anyu, twirling one of Fang Anyu’s curls in her fingers, calmly watching as Fang Anyan got out to check the problem with the car.
He could not find the fault, but it simply would not start. Just like in the plot, the group had no choice but to call for the Jun family’s driver and a repairman.
But Old Master Jun had told them to go visit the so-called aunt. To Fang Anyan and Jun Yu, that was an imperial decree. Jun Yueyue had no intention of changing the plot. She followed the others and waited by the roadside for a while, but they could not flag down a car. Just like in the plot, they boarded a bus that made one round trip a day.
There were quite a few people on the bus. There were two empty seats. The four of them boarded. Jun Yu had her own wheelchair, but the wheelchair could not be opened on this bus. When they got on, the driver even impatiently urged them to fold it up.
Jun Yu was held by Fang Anyan and sat down. The wheelchair was folded. With one seat left, it should naturally have been taken by Jun Yueyue, who was also a girl.
But Jun Yueyue did not sit. She pressed Fang Anyu into the seat and stood beside him, continuing to twirl his hair.
Fang Anyu had barely communicated with Jun Yueyue along the way. But after Jun Yueyue insisted that he sit, his heart immediately softened beyond reason. Actually, it would have been fine for him to stand. He was still a man, after all, tall and big…
Fang Anyu tried to get up, but his shoulder was pressed down by Jun Yueyue’s elbow.
“Sit down,” Jun Yueyue said beside his ear.
Fang Anyu could not hear. He could only feel the damp, warm breath entering his ear. He knew Jun Yueyue had spoken to him.
During the apocalypse, Jun Yueyue often did various kinds of training targeted at her own abilities, tirelessly and repeatedly. Later, because she had gained quite a bit of experience, she was even responsible for teaching several ability users who had evolved strength and speed.
As long as she wanted, she truly had all kinds of methods to make Fang Anyu understand what she meant in specific situations, even if he could not hear.
But this subconscious training method of hers caused Fang Anyu’s ears to quietly redden. Jun Yueyue did not notice. Her hand was holding Fang Anyu’s curls and playing with them, while her eyes looked out the window. If there were no accidents, the people Old Master Jun had hired should be appearing now.
Sure enough, not long later, the bus stopped again. The driver braked very hard. Although Jun Yueyue held onto the seat, she was still thrown forward by inertia.
Fang Anyu reached out in time and wrapped his arm around her. Jun Yueyue lowered her head and looked at the hand clasped around her arm. After steadying herself, she glanced again at Fang Anyu’s nervous expression and thought, *At least you have some conscience.*
Every time Jun Yueyue treated him a little better, she received a very clear return. This kind of interaction, almost like goods and money being exchanged fairly, unexpectedly made Jun Yueyue feel comfortable.
It was just like the equivalent exchange she had long grown used to over all those years.
The people boarding the bus were two women. They were dressed like ordinary peasant women and looked rather old. Their faces were covered in deep and shallow wrinkles, and one of them had quite a lot of grey in her hair. However, both of their bodies belonged to the sturdy type.
The two women were very goal-oriented. After getting on the bus, the leader narrowed her eyes and swept her gaze around the carriage. She accurately locked onto the direction of the four of them.
They were simply too easy to find. Each of them was bright and polished, completely out of place among the people on the bus. Especially Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu. Their appearances, clothing, and even hair made them look like a pair of dolls that should be displayed in a shop window and used for unspeakable things.
The leading woman reached back as if to pull the sister following behind her. In reality, she nudged that sister, who was still looking around everywhere. They briefly exchanged glances, then very clearly divided their tasks and walked toward the four of them.
The leading woman, who wore a chicken-shit-green gauze scarf, was clearly heading for Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu. The woman behind her, dressed in dog-shit yellow, went straight toward Jun Yu.
Jun Yueyue changed her posture, preparing for battle. But as soon as she moved, she realised Fang Anyu’s hand was still around her waist.
Somewhat helplessly, she lowered her head and patted it. Then she tightened the somewhat loosened gauze around her hand again, turned her head without making a sound, and only mouthed to him, “Let go. Are you addicted to holding me?”
Fang Anyu hesitated. He understood Jun Yueyue saying “let go,” but he did not guess the sentence afterward. Besides, why he was holding Jun Yueyue was very easy to understand. He had no complicated thoughts. From those two bright eyes of his, one could tell that he was simply afraid Jun Yueyue would lose her balance again like just now.
Jun Yueyue clicked her tongue, and the corners of her mouth lifted unconsciously again. Before she could say anything else, the auntie who had already walked behind her spoke.
“Hugging and cuddling in broad daylight. You think this is your family’s kang bed?” Her voice was quiet, as if she were muttering to herself, but the people around them all heard it.
Most people were still conservative. As soon as she said this, many eyes immediately turned toward Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu.
When reading this part in the novel, it had been quite satisfying. After all, a random auntie slapping the vicious female supporting character in the face was a type of scene generally enjoyed by readers.
But when you yourself became the vicious female supporting character… that feeling was about the same as truly having done a dog.
Jun Yueyue found it extremely puzzling. Was Old Master Jun’s bus-seat-yielding test really necessary? What could it possibly test?
A person’s character? If giving up a seat could reveal someone’s character, then that person’s character was far too shallow.
Jun Yueyue glanced at the auntie in front of her and did not say anything. Fang Anyu let go of her waist, but Jun Yueyue still leaned against him as if she had no bones, her elbow resting on his shoulder as she stared at the auntie.
This auntie had taken money to cause trouble. She had already seen their photos beforehand; it was definitely these people. She especially disliked this girl who looked so dazzling and seductive, so she had volunteered to come over to Jun Yueyue.
However, when she met Jun Yueyue’s gaze, the auntie had the illusion that she had run into someone difficult. In the village, when it came to fighting, arguing with a bunch of women, and pulling hair, she rarely lost. But occasionally, when she met someone evenly matched, she had suffered quite a few losses too.
Sometimes, a person’s sixth sense was very accurate. Meeting Jun Yueyue’s eyes, she felt that Jun Yueyue was not someone easy to deal with. Just as she frowned slightly, the sister who had come with her had already made a move on Jun Yu.
Of course, it could not really be called making a move. She simply opened her mouth and said, “Miss, Auntie’s legs aren’t good. Could you give Auntie your seat? Just let me sit for a while. I’ll get up after a little while…”
Jun Yu was paralysed. This kind of test question was far too easy for her to solve. Before she could even speak, Fang Anyan beside her pointed at the wheelchair and looked coldly at the woman. The woman immediately smiled apologetically and said, “Sorry, sorry. Look at my eyesight, I didn’t notice…”
The female lead’s halo was shining so brightly that Jun Yueyue’s eyes were about to go blind. Judging from this test, it was clearly aimed only at the vicious female supporting character.
Not only was Jun Yu not made difficult for, but as soon as the auntie troubling Jun Yu spoke, the auntie in front of Jun Yueyue was also stimulated. After all, they had already taken the money. They could not fail to do the job.
As for her feeling that Jun Yueyue was difficult to deal with, after looking more carefully, she felt that she must have been mistaken. A delicate little girl like this would probably start crying after being scolded a couple of times. Could she really argue and fight?
So she also opened her mouth. “Little girl, give up your seat. Auntie is quite old now, and my body isn’t feeling well…”
But before she could finish, Jun Yueyue interrupted her. “Auntie, how am I supposed to give you my seat? I’m standing too.”
Jun Yueyue blinked her big eyes and smiled especially brightly, so brightly it was dazzling.
The green-scarf auntie choked. But since she had taken the money, after a moment of silence, she very professionally shifted her target to Fang Anyu and said, “Little girl, of course I’m not talking about you. I’m talking about your partner. He’s a grown man. Standing for a while shouldn’t be a problem…”
Jun Yueyue did not wait for her to finish again. Suddenly, her expression became extremely horrified, and she hugged Fang Anyu’s head.
“How can that be! My husband is pregnant! He threw up terribly this morning and only ate two sour apricots. How would he have any strength?”
As soon as these words fell, the people sitting nearby understood what was going on. Two younger people could not help laughing. Fang Anyan also looked over following the sound, but unlike before, he did not first glare at Jun Yueyue no matter what had happened. Instead, he looked at her with an extremely complicated expression.
The green-scarf auntie was also stunned by Jun Yueyue’s words, but then she reacted. Jun Yueyue was clearly messing with her!
So she raised her voice twice as loud and said sharply, “How can a man be pregnant? You think this old woman is uncultured and look down on me, don’t you? You young people all look so shiny and decent, but in reality, your quality is terribly low.”
With one sentence, she offended all the young people on the bus. But she had long grown used to relying on her age, knowing no one would truly argue with her, so she continued without restraint, “Hugging and cuddling in broad daylight, shameless, refusing to give up a seat to an elderly person. Do the two of you have any morality at all?”
Jun Yueyue smiled at her. She was still holding Fang Anyu’s head in her arms, actually preventing him from seeing the auntie’s expression. Fang Anyu was very smart. If he watched for a while, he would be able to understand what was going on.
But today, Jun Yueyue had no intention of giving up the seat. The original owner, Jun Yue, had of course also refused to give up the seat at first, but later, because she could not stand the condemning gazes and discussions, she had been morally blackmailed and was eventually forcibly dragged up by this auntie.
Why should she?
Only people with morals could be kidnapped by morality. If someone truly needed a seat, giving it up would be no big deal. But as for actors hired by Old Master Jun—screw them.
So Jun Yueyue said lightly, “No. Are you trying to morally blackmail me? Let everyone listen. With that voice of yours, you don’t sound unwell. You’re shaking me so hard I’m about to go deaf.”
Jun Yueyue said, “Besides, haven’t you already seen that I have no morals? If I have no morals, what are you going to use to blackmail me?”
These words were shameless enough, but as the saying went, when a person had no shame, they were invincible under heaven. The green-scarf auntie had not expected that a young girl like Jun Yueyue would truly not be easy to talk to.
She was choked speechless for a moment. The people around who had originally looked condemningly at Jun Yueyue now turned their heads as if nothing had happened, pretending not to see.
Sometimes people were like this. The herd mentality was too strong. Even when they clearly knew something was wrong, they would still go with the flow. But as long as someone came out and raised an objection, most people would begin to think.
The auntie’s face turned bright red. Matched with her green scarf, it really looked like a monkey’s bottom paired with leaves—especially fitting. Jun Yueyue’s tone remained calm and unhurried the whole time, smiling as she watched the auntie’s face change again and again. She felt that Old Master Jun would probably be half-dead with anger this time.
However, the auntie was clearly quite combat-capable. Even like this, she did not give up. After coming back to her senses, she reached out to pull Fang Anyu.
“I refuse to believe that such a tall, grown young man won’t give Auntie a seat. Then I’ll just sit by force!”
As she spoke, she yanked Jun Yueyue aside and actually tried to sit on Fang Anyu’s lap.
Fang Anyan frowned. Fang Anyu looked blank, having no idea what was happening. Jun Yueyue’s previously playful expression instantly sank. Before the green-scarf auntie could sit on Fang Anyu’s lap, Jun Yueyue grabbed her by the hair and yanked her away.
The green-scarf auntie screamed like a pig being slaughtered. Jun Yueyue only pulled once before letting go, but the auntie sat on the floor and began acting shamelessly, rolling around and clutching her head while crying that it hurt, obviously trying to extort someone.
“Aiyo, I’m this old and I’m still being beaten…” The auntie acted vividly. “Aiya, there’s no law left in this world! My life is so bitter!”
As she rolled around, she also slapped her thighs. Jun Yueyue watched as if she were watching a monkey show. Fang Anyu had already stood up, seemingly wanting to help the auntie on the ground, but Jun Yueyue reached out, grabbed him, and pressed him back down.
Even the driver at the front had noticed and shouted toward the back with a frown. The people around, who had not intended to get involved, saw the woman rolling around on the ground and began leaning toward speaking up for her again.
The woman who had boarded the bus with the green-scarf auntie also came over. She reached out to help the woman on the ground. When she could not pull her up, she began throwing a tantrum at Jun Yueyue.
“You little slut, you dare hit someone? Don’t think you can leave today. In a while, the driver will take this bus straight to the police station. Wait until we get off and see how I deal with you!”
Jun Yueyue leaned beside Fang Anyu, blocking his sight. She slapped away the finger the woman had thrust in front of her face.
“Stop fucking pointing at me.”
When she was not angry and smiled, it was still fine. But once Jun Yueyue truly became angry, even if that face was bright and beautiful, her eyes turned cold down to the bone. After rolling among piles of corpses for so many years, how could the hostile aura she carried be the same as an ordinary person’s?
The back of this woman’s hand was slapped red, but after being stared at twice by Jun Yueyue, she actually did not dare speak. The woman on the ground was still acting, throwing a tantrum, rolling around and kicking her legs. One woman was putting on a whole show by herself, making it very lively.
Jun Yueyue watched coldly. After a moment, she said, “I don’t know who spat near your head. Aiyo, it’s stuck to your hair. Disgusting.”
When the woman throwing a tantrum heard this, she immediately stopped and reached up to touch her head. Sure enough, she touched something sticky. She quickly pulled off her green scarf and began wiping it, forgetting to continue acting for a while.
“Look, aren’t you perfectly fine? You acted quite realistically,” Jun Yueyue sneered, raising her voice. “Didn’t you want to go to the police station? Driver, I’ll add one hundred yuan if you take the bus straight to the police station entrance. These two aunties say they want a one-day tour inside!”
Their words had indeed sounded quite intimidating, but Jun Yueyue countered every move, stirring their tricks into a complete mess. The green-scarf auntie sat on the ground, staring at Jun Yueyue with a dark face, breathing heavily like an old dog that had just finished running wildly.
Since awkward acting could no longer continue, she simply patted the dust off herself and sat up from the ground. She and her old sister muttered something quietly to each other, then reached out to grab Jun Yueyue while saying, “Didn’t you want to go to the police station? You hit someone. Don’t think you can run!”
Where could one run on a bus? Jun Yueyue immediately dodged sideways, casually grabbed the seat cover from the seat and threw it at the two women.
“I’m not running. Put away your filthy hands!”
But the two of them seemed determined to disgust her. They threw off the seat cover and came toward Jun Yueyue again. Jun Yueyue dodged backward. Her high heels stepped onto the cluttered bus floor, which was piled with goods. After retreating two steps, she accidentally tripped over a metal pipe beside someone. With a clang, Jun Yueyue fell backward. She could not even grab the seat, and her backside landed directly on the pipe, nearly smashing her tailbone apart.
“Fuck!” Jun Yueyue hissed in pain. Fang Anyu had already gotten up and hurried over to help her. The two women began laughing wildly and sat down right on the seat Fang Anyu had just vacated.
Jun Yueyue was in so much pain she could not get up for a while. Rage had already rushed to the top of her head. She simply shook off Fang Anyu’s hand, kicked off her high heels, and grabbed one shoe by the upper with her injured, not-yet-healed hand. Even though her palm still hurt, she ignored it. With her other hand on the floor, she prepared to get up and split open the heads of these two idiot women—
But as she got up, the intense pain from her tailbone made her hand press down on the pipe again. It jabbed into the ground beside her, and her fingernail was directly bent back by her own force.
“Fuck…” Jun Yueyue cursed outright. Her hand had pressed against something unknown, wet and slippery. She turned her head and saw a huge puddle of water on the floor…
Following the water upward, Jun Yueyue saw a heavily pregnant woman wearing an especially loose dress. She was frowning and holding her stomach, while her other hand stubbornly clutched a bag of crisps. Beside her sat a man. The commotion in the carriage had not affected him at all. He was leaning his head against the window and sleeping soundly.
This couldn’t be piss, right?
Even pee couldn’t be such a big puddle!
Across both her lives, Jun Yueyue had only had Fang Anyu as her one man, and that had been under the influence of drugs. Other than that, she had no experience as a woman.
But during the apocalypse, she had delivered calves and foals. Later, once, she had been temporarily pulled in as labour to deliver the wife of an ability user.
Unfortunately, that woman had not survived in the end. It was very difficult for ordinary people and ability users to conceive. Even if they did, most of them could not give birth successfully. That woman’s fetus had been in the wrong position. Jun Yueyue had no ability to correct it, and there had been no medical conditions at the time. In the end, that woman died…
That memory was too deep. So Jun Yueyue knew almost at a glance that this woman had not peed at all—her waters had broken!
And she was still heartlessly eating—
Jun Yueyue quickly threw away the high heel. She did not stand up at all, but crawled one step on the spot to the woman’s legs and reached out to touch her stomach.
The fetal position was wrong!
Jun Yueyue supported the woman’s leg and adjusted her into a comfortable position. Then she got up and, no longer caring about being dirty, reached out to push the man beside the woman. That man’s snores were thunderous. Jun Yueyue pushed him twice, yet he still did not wake.
Jun Yueyue slapped his face twice.
“Wake up! Your wife’s waters broke! She’s about to give birth—”
After being slapped a few times, the man jolted upright. His eyes stared blankly at Jun Yueyue for a moment. After touching his face and hearing Jun Yueyue’s words, he immediately nervously checked on his wife’s condition…
The two women who had originally been causing trouble also hurriedly stood up after hearing the movement here. After walking to the pregnant woman’s side and looking, they also cried out in disorder.
“She really is about to give birth, she really is! Was it from all the jolting, or is it time?!”
“Driver, go straight to the hospital! The nearest hospital is still ten li away. Endure a little longer…”
“Deep breaths, deep breaths… Don’t rush to push yet…”
Everyone started shouting all at once. The men spontaneously moved to the back seats, while the women stayed in front, surrounding the pregnant woman and chattering as they taught her how to ease labour pains.
Fang Anyu was also pulled to the back by Fang Anyan. In the end, the driver did not need extra money. He drove the bus straight to the nearest hospital.
Although the hospital was somewhat old and shabby, it was at least a public hospital in the township. The pregnant woman could no longer walk by herself, so Jun Yu’s wheelchair came in handy. Several people pushed her to the nearby hospital, including the two who had just been looking for trouble…
Jun Yueyue followed for a stretch, then stopped. After entering the hospital, she found the bathroom, tidied herself up, washed her hands clean, and then went to the nurse to have the gauze rewrapped. She did not bother with the pregnant woman anymore, nor did she run into the two troublemakers again.
This was a town, but it did not look prosperous at all. It was not the Taishan County Old Master Jun had mentioned either. The bus was now parked outside. The couple still had a lot of belongings on the bus, and they had given money to the driver, so the driver did not leave immediately. The passengers who were in a hurry got off and headed into the town, probably to find other vehicles. If they pooled money for a ride, they could get home quickly.
When Jun Yueyue finished cleaning herself up and came out, she saw Fang Anyu standing at the entrance of the women’s toilet, tall and broad, his face full of anxiety.
Jun Yueyue came out of the hospital with him and stood at the entrance, looking around. But she did not return to the bus to discuss taking a taxi with Fang Anyan and Jun Yu, or going to see some damn aunt.
Enduring the pain in her palm, Jun Yueyue quickly typed a line on her phone—
How about I take you around town to play? We won’t go see that bullshit aunt.
After Fang Anyu read it, he looked worriedly toward the bus. Jun Yueyue quickly typed again—
When has your brother ever needed you to worry about him? Are you going or not?!
Fang Anyu slowly bit his lip. He reached out and pressed down a stray curl on Jun Yueyue’s head. His eyes were bright, and he nodded heavily.
Go.
