The Big Bad Wolf Likes That Little Bunny
Fang Anyu could not understand the knocking. Jun Yueyue heard it and glanced toward the door, but for a moment, she lay on the bed without moving.
At this hour, whoever was knocking definitely did not bring good news. Old Master Jun would definitely look for her to talk over the next few days; that had happened in the plot. But Old Master Jun was unlikely to look for her at this time, and the person outside was knocking so lightly. Jun Yu’s legs were inconvenient, so it was even less likely to be her. That left only one possibility.
The person knocking was Fang Anyan.
Once Jun Yueyue guessed that, she wanted to move even less. What could Fang Anyan possibly want from her? He was definitely going to warn her again not to bully Fang Anyu, then warn her again not to speak carelessly in front of Old Master Jun. Fang Anyan’s nervousness was far too obvious. He was terrified that even the slightest accident would affect his perfect image in Old Master Jun’s heart and cause some problem in the cooperation between the Fang and Jun families.
If it did not involve her own interests, Jun Yueyue would of course be happy to help others achieve their happy ending. She did not plan to get involved in the main plotline, so naturally, she had no interest in meddling blindly. In the plot, after the Fang and Jun families joined hands, they did indeed become the leading force in Qiuhai City’s real estate industry. The male and female leads’ relationship also got better and better, just like the thriving company.
As for later, when the overseas market was expanded, the male lead was away from home all year round, the original owner Jun Yue also left the stage in despair and loneliness, and Jun Yu, a disabled woman, and Fang Anyu, a deaf-mute man, stayed at home together year-round and looked after each other, only for the servants to spread rumours of an affair between them, leading to a series of melodramatic misunderstandings and internal conflict—all of that was still very far away in the plot.
Right now, nothing had even begun. Fang Anyan and Jun Yu had not yet sparked any flames of love, and both the Jun and Fang families were teetering, with people in the industry waiting to laugh at them. It was understandable that Fang Anyan was worried the cooperation might fail.
But Jun Yueyue did not plan to cooperate with Fang Anyan. She had no obligation to either. Since she had transmigrated into this body, she naturally had to fight for the things she should say and the things she should get.
So she simply pretended she could not hear Fang Anyan’s knocking. She turned her head, buried it completely under the quilt, pressed herself against Fang Anyu, who was lying properly beside her, closed her eyes, and prepared to sleep.
*Knock, knock, knock…* Fang Anyan persisted.
*Knock, knock, knock, knock, knock…* Fang Anyan was clearly becoming more and more impatient.
Jun Yueyue lay very steadily, without the slightest intention of moving. In any case, Fang Anyan did not dare knock loudly. She treated the sound as a lullaby, and before long, she actually grew dazed.
At some point, the knocking outside stopped. The room quieted down. Jun Yueyue had already fallen asleep, but the phone beside her pillow suddenly lit up.
Fang Anyu had not fallen asleep yet. The light flashed against him. He reached out, picked up Jun Yueyue’s phone, pressed his fingerprint, and unlocked it. To make it easier for Fang Anyu to practise typing on her phone, Jun Yueyue had added his fingerprint to it.
After the phone unlocked, a text message popped up on the screen. Jun Yueyue had already blacklisted Fang Anyan’s phone number. Neither of his two SIM cards could call her, nor could they send messages. The sender of this message was “Sister.”
The content was—
Open the door! I have something to say to you!
Fang Anyu saw the two exclamation marks in a row and thought it must be urgent. He knew the sender was Jun Yu, and Jun Yu was disabled, even more inconvenient in movement than him. Fang Anyu immediately sat up. After pushing Jun Yueyue, he quickly got out of bed to open the door.
“What are you doing…” Jun Yueyue had only just fallen asleep and was pushed awake, so of course she was unhappy. She yawned and, by the light of the floor lamp, saw Fang Anyu heading for the door. She quickly shouted, “Don’t open the door!”
Unfortunately, Fang Anyu could not hear. The door opened, and standing outside was Fang Anyan, whose face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. There was no trace of Jun Yu at all.
Fang Anyu looked at Fang Anyan in confusion, then turned back to look at Jun Yueyue.
Jun Yueyue had already finished reading the message glowing on the phone on the bed. She leaned against the headboard helplessly and looked at Fang Anyu with a resigned expression.
This little fool was far too easy to trick.
Fang Anyan had clearly insisted on looking for her no matter what. Since he could not get through to her phone, he had not hesitated to go and find Jun Yu in the middle of the night.
“Come out. Let’s go downstairs. I have something to say to you.” It was already very late. Fang Anyan had been going back and forth for an hour, and it was now past ten at night. His voice was pressed very low. After speaking, he closed the door and waited outside.
Jun Yueyue irritably lay down again and rubbed around under the quilt for a while before finally typing a line for Fang Anyu to see—
Your brother says he has something to tell me and wants to ask me to go downstairs. But you also know I’m his sister-in-law. At this hour, we need to avoid suspicion, so will you come with me?
Fang Anyu looked at it for a moment and replied in confusion—
Just now… it wasn’t Jun Yu?
Of course not. You’re too easy to fool. It was your cunning brother tricking you. Just like the big bad wolf standing outside the little rabbit’s door, copying the rabbit mother’s singing voice, all to trick you into opening the door.
Fang Anyu did not care why his younger brother had gone through so much trouble in the middle of the night just to talk to Jun Yueyue. His attention quickly went off track as he asked—
Don’t big bad wolves live on grasslands? Can they sing? Why would they go to the little rabbit’s door to sing?
Haven’t you read fairy tales? Jun Yueyue asked.
I’ve heard of them, but there aren’t books like that at home. Fang Anyu’s expression looked rather regretful.
Jun Yueyue clicked her tongue and rubbed Fang Anyu’s hair. “Then when we come back later, I’ll tell you the story of the little rabbit and the big bad wolf.”
Fang Anyu was happily coaxed by Jun Yueyue into getting dressed, then followed her downstairs. Fang Anyan was waiting in the living room downstairs. When he saw Fang Anyu, his brows furrowed slightly.
This was the main hall, and they were in someone else’s house, so it was inconvenient to speak. Even though Fang Anyan was unhappy, he endured it. The three of them left the living room together and walked toward the courtyard.
The path twisted and turned. Fang Anyan skilfully led the two of them around several bends and actually found a pavilion.
Calling it a pavilion was not quite accurate, because this pavilion was very strange. There were no tables or chairs inside, its shape was square, and there was even a ladder leading up to the top of it. Rather than a pavilion, it looked more like a flower trellis.
The night wind was cool, and the surroundings were silent. Fang Anyan stopped. When he turned his head, he immediately blamed Jun Yueyue. “It’s only a few sentences. Why did you drag my brother out here?”
Jun Yueyue was wrapped in Fang Anyu’s clothes. The oversized jacket covered all the way past her bottom. She leaned against one of the pavilion pillars and frowned slightly. “To avoid suspicion. I’m your sister-in-law. In the middle of the night, you bring me into a little grove, and if someone sees us, will we be able to explain it clearly? You may not want face, but I do.”
Probably for the sake of atmosphere, there were little solar lights all over the courtyard. They did not make the courtyard as bright as day, but it was not dark either. There were indeed a few trees around this little pavilion, but where the hell did “going into a little grove” come from?!
Fang Anyan immediately retorted, “Dream on! I’m warning you, stop doing those deranged things.”
Fang Anyan’s expression cooled. “If you really ruin my matters, I absolutely won’t let you off.”
At this point, his face was completely torn open, revealing claws he had not shown before.
If it had been the original owner, perhaps she really would have hesitated because of Fang Anyan’s words. But Jun Yueyue? Heh.
Jun Yueyue picked at her ear, shooed away a mosquito near Fang Anyu, then said, “Oh? You’re about to become the Jun family’s son-in-law, so now your words have become this forceful?”
Jun Yueyue said, “What position are you standing in to say this to me? Does your confidence come from your especially perky backside or your especially big face?”
Fang Anyan had not expected this reaction from her. For a moment, all the threatening words he had prepared tripped over one another in his throat and collapsed into a tangled mess, blocking him so completely that he could not say a word.
Jun Yueyue’s expression also darkened. This was the first time since transmigrating that she truly took Fang Anyan seriously.
“You yourself want to marry a disabled woman for money, yet you really think you’ve made a contribution to the motherland, helped a disabled person live a happy life, and so you’re very noble?”
Jun Yueyue walked to Fang Anyan’s side, deliberately turning her back to Fang Anyu so he could not see her expression.
“You really think I like you? You think that just because I like you, if you say a few words, I won’t dare make trouble?”
Jun Yueyue slowly bared her small white teeth and gave a scornful laugh. “I’m warning you too. Whoever you marry has nothing to do with me. Whether the Jun family wants to provide poverty relief or you want to rescue the disabled, I’m too lazy to even listen. But I am the eldest young lady of the Jun family. My share—whether it’s you or that little sister of mine—whoever touches it shouldn’t expect to live comfortably. Understand?”
“You…” Fang Anyan was somewhat struck by Jun Yueyue’s expression, but he quickly came back to himself and said rapidly, “You want to fight for that piece of land?!”
“You don’t understand management at all. Jun Yu at least understands some of the Jun family’s businesses. Do you even know what stage things are at right now? What can you do with that land if you get it?”
Fang Anyan also revealed disdain. “Invite that group of shady friends of yours to go clubbing there? Or are you planning to use that piece of land to make me turn back?”
Jun Yueyue did not speak for a moment. Fang Anyan thought he had hit on her thoughts. He glanced in Fang Anyu’s direction, and even though he knew his brother could not hear, he still lowered his voice and said, “Stop deluding yourself. In this lifetime, I will never have anything to do with a woman like you.”
Jun Yueyue curled her lips. Fang Anyan continued, “My brother too. If you dare do anything to him again…”
Jun Yueyue blew a somewhat irritated whistle. It sounded especially clear in the night. Fang Anyan immediately tried to cover her mouth, but Jun Yueyue dodged aside.
“I’m telling you,” Jun Yueyue said, word by word, “in this world, there is nothing I don’t dare do or can’t do. There is only whether I choose to do it or not.”
“I really am not interested in that piece of land, and I really don’t understand management. But if I wanted it, you wouldn’t be able to get it either.”
After Jun Yueyue finished speaking, Fang Anyan was practically amused by her arrogant tone.
But Jun Yueyue continued calmly, “As for you, if I really liked you and wanted you, do you think you could refuse me?”
Anyone who heard this would think Jun Yueyue had gone mad. Everyone knew the original owner liked Fang Anyan, liked him so much she had gone insane and wished she could marry his deaf-mute older brother. Hearing her say something like this, anyone would think she had lost her mind or was talking in her sleep, because Fang Anyan had always looked down on her.
Fang Anyan laughed with contempt. By now, Jun Yueyue had completely lost all the goodwill she had accumulated toward the male lead while reading the novel.
She calmly waited for Fang Anyan to finish laughing before speaking.
“There’s a car park under your company building. Your habit every day after work is to go down by the stairs. That stretch has a surveillance blind spot. From there, one can go directly through the underground passage to the street behind the company.”
Fang Anyan stared at Jun Yueyue. “You investigated me? Or did you send people to watch me?”
Jun Yueyue did not answer. She worked hard to recall the plot and continued, “Or maybe you come down by lift, but the car still has to pass by a surveillance camera with its head already tilted crooked. That place happens to be a bend. When driving through it, there is a three-second blind spot.”
Fang Anyan frowned, his face growing even uglier.
Jun Yueyue continued, “Even if you leave the company and get onto the street, the stretch of road toward the Fang family villa has a camera that was smashed by a drugged-up drunk. It’s been two months and still hasn’t been replaced. That stretch happens to pass by a very dense nature reserve. I think the property management must have told you about it proudly. For example, that villa area was designated as a nature reserve because a very rare tree species was discovered there.”
“But they didn’t tell you that under that rare tree species, no one has ever gone inside. There are natural deep pits there. Underground tree pits that can hold two hundred people at once. A masterpiece of nature, pitch-black and never seeing the light of day. Because of years of accumulated leaves and soil, even rainwater can’t soak through.”
Fang Anyan looked at Jun Yueyue as if he were looking at a lunatic. Under his gaze, Jun Yueyue lifted the corners of her mouth slightly and smiled.
“You also live in upper society. You know money can make ghosts grind grain. If I get you into that pit and give you food and water, a person with such a strong will to survive like you definitely wouldn’t just let yourself starve to death.”
Fang Anyan could not help swallowing. Jun Yueyue continued, “If you suddenly disappeared and no one could find you, neither alive nor dead, even if they suspected me, Old Master Jun wouldn’t ignore me. The more biased he is toward Jun Yu, the less he would let me get dragged into this kind of matter. Without you, wouldn’t your family fall quickly?”
Jun Yueyue said, “In all of Qiuhai City, who doesn’t want that piece of land? As long as Old Master Jun leaks even a little hint, do you believe that group of so-called proper businessmen you talk about could erase your existence from this world?”
On the final sentence, Jun Yueyue suddenly intensified her voice. Fang Anyan stood with his mouth slightly open, feeling the hairs at the back of his neck stand up. He looked at the woman in front of him, who was clearly delicate and soft, yet for some reason, he felt as if he had been seized by something.
Jun Yueyue was still speaking softly and calmly. “At that time, after one or two months, no one will care about you anymore. Even if your family wants to search, where could they possibly look?”
“You would completely lose all rescue. Tell me, by then, if I wanted you and crooked my finger, would you crawl over?”
Jun Yueyue’s smile gradually brightened. “Oh, right. You have a bad temper. Maybe one or two months wouldn’t be enough. Then what about three to five years?”
She gathered her clothes around herself and tilted her head. “If after three to five years, you still refuse, then what if your legs were broken?”
“Are you fucking insane?!” Fang Anyan growled at her, but could not stop himself from taking a small step back.
“If breaking your legs still doesn’t work, what if your hands were cut off? In any case, that wouldn’t affect your appearance. You could still crawl.”
As Jun Yueyue spoke, she seemed to imagine that scene and happily circled Fang Anyan once. “A long darkness. You all alone. I’d lock you somewhere that can only fit one person. One month. Tell me, when you saw me again, would you feel as if you’d seen an angel?”
Fang Anyan looked at Jun Yueyue in disbelief. He leaned back against the pavilion pillar, his spine ice-cold.
“Even if your bones are hard and you still refuse me in the end, that’s fine too.” Jun Yueyue’s expression turned sinister as she continued frightening him. “I heard from one of my shady friends that she knows a doll maker overseas. Supposedly, they can perfectly avoid all the major blood vessels in a person’s body and cut away all the muscles… Then, with some special methods, they can even make a vegetative person move. If I paid her a huge sum of money, do you think she would use a real person to make a doll?”
“What are you talking about?!” Fang Anyan truly could not listen any longer. At that moment, a night wind blew over, and he looked at Jun Yueyue in horror. His earlier arrogance had vanished, and he only said with outward fierceness but inner weakness, “You’re insane…”
“No,” Jun Yueyue relaxed her expression and shook her head. “I’m not insane. You should be grateful I haven’t gone insane. Grateful that I don’t really like you.”
Jun Yueyue looked at Fang Anyan seriously and asked once more, “Otherwise, do you think you could refuse me?”
This time, Fang Anyan did not laugh, nor did he speak. His eyes flickered, and he instinctively moved farther away from Jun Yueyue.
Jun Yueyue merely shrugged. “See? That’s why you shouldn’t have said those things to me earlier. I don’t plan to care about you and Jun Yu. As for your brother…”
Jun Yueyue turned to look at Fang Anyu, who had been standing especially obediently by the pillar, and said, “I only slept with him once. Why do you keep exploding? Even if I sleep with him again, you have no right to interfere.”
She looked at Fang Anyan and, to settle things once and for all, threw out harsh words. “I’ll compensate him. But that has nothing to do with you either. If you keep meddling and make me angry or block my path, I can’t guarantee I won’t find you troublesome, make you disappear from the world, and ensure there’s no food or water in that big pit. You’ll rot together with decades of accumulated leaves.”
Fang Anyan should not have been frightened. The woman in front of him was so much shorter than him. With one hand, he could beat her until she could not fight back.
But when she said these things, the aura around her was truly something Fang Anyan had never seen before. Along with the night wind, he even had the illusion that he could smell a damp, rotten stench, making it hard for him to breathe. And Jun Yueyue had spoken in such detail. Although it was not completely without flaws, if someone really acted according to what she said, and that tree pit truly existed, and the person acted a little more meticulously, Fang Anyan believed that before he died, no one would truly find him.
So he really was frightened by Jun Yueyue. In his heart, he was certain that she was a lunatic, but he also truly began to fear her.
“If you’re done talking, get lost.” Jun Yueyue grabbed the pavilion and looked upward, waving Fang Anyan away. She planned to climb up and take a look.
Fang Anyan still wanted to say something. He looked at his brother with a complicated expression, watching the woman who had said such terrifying things turn around and smile brightly while holding her phone, seemingly saying something to his brother. For the first time in his life, a feeling of powerlessness surged up in him.
Fang Anyan had always thought he was capable of anything. He carried the family on his shoulders and looked after his brother. But at this moment, his whole body truly felt weak and aching. He forced himself to leave the pavilion and walk toward the villa.
Who was born wanting to bear everything? Who truly wanted to stake their own marriage for money? He admired Jun Yu’s character, but that did not mean he truly liked the fact that his woman could not walk…
That night, Fang Anyan thought a lot. More than he ever had before.
After Jun Yueyue finally managed to bluff him away, she let out a heavy breath. What she had said was indeed true. It was just that those parts came from a later plotline, when Jun Yu was kidnapped—the surveillance cameras, the tree pit, all of it.
Of course, the male lead’s halo allowed him to actually find that place, and the female lead’s halo allowed Jun Yu to survive by relying on the mushrooms beside the tree pit. Back when Jun Yueyue read that part, when the two of them met and embraced, her eyes had even teared up. Her maiden heart had trembled back to life for a moment, and she had believed in true love again.
She had not expected that once she was actually there, not only could she not ship the couple anymore, she had even used the angst plotline to scare the male lead.
Seeing Fang Anyan walk far away, Jun Yueyue then told Fang Anyu to wait below while she climbed up first to take a look.
The top was a flat surface made of very thick solid wood. It could bear a person’s weight. The courtyard lights were dim, and from below, one could not see the stars. Only after getting up there did she discover that tonight’s stars were especially many and bright.
In any case, after all that talking and the night wind blowing over her, she felt awake. Jun Yueyue thought that the little fool had probably never looked at stars before. So she lay down and crooked her finger at him below, signalling for him to come up.
Fang Anyu quickly climbed up. Sure enough, he found it very novel. His eyes were practically brighter than the stars.
But there were truly far too many things he found new. He had never come out for this long in the middle of the night, never climbed up high like this, never deliberately watched stars at night, and never listened to someone tell him a story while looking at the stars.
Jun Yueyue told him the story of *The Little Rabbit Be Good*. But halfway through, Fang Anyu slowly typed on the phone—
Why does the big bad wolf sing? Why does it want to enter the house? Is it going to do bad things?
Jun Yueyue originally wanted to say yes. But seeing Fang Anyu’s slight frown and how he looked very worried for the little rabbits, her mind suddenly turned a corner, and she began making things up.
She had already typed the words “Of course,” but after thinking for a moment, she added—
Of course not. It’s because inside that house, there is one little rabbit who is especially, especially cute. The big bad wolf wants to see it.
After Fang Anyu finished reading, he really seemed to let out a great sigh of relief. Then he typed in confusion—
Then why does the big bad wolf want to see it?
Jun Yueyue also wanted to know why. But since she had started making up this story, she had to give it a beginning and an end.
She looked at Fang Anyu. He was as pure as a little rabbit. Suddenly, inspiration struck. Smiling, she typed a line on the phone.
Because the big bad wolf likes that little rabbit and wants to carry it back to its den to make it its wife.
