MDMSC Chapter 21

No, No, No

Jun Yueyue had originally wanted to refuse.

She swore that although she had no idea why she had fainted, the only injury on her entire body was the wound on her left palm, which had split open again because she had kept switching hands while swinging the wrench to make it easier to hit people on the back of the head.

If she really had to look carefully for any other place that could be counted as an injury, there was the needle mark from the IV she had had at the hospital during the day. But that probably could not be counted as a wound either, because without her noticing, it had already healed.

With this little injury, forget bathing. Back in the apocalypse, as long as it did not get infected, she could have gone out with the team to search for supplies even with a broken leg. She had never taken such a small injury seriously from the start. It really had not reached the point where she needed someone to serve her…

But the strawberry-print cotton underwear had already been placed on the rack beside her. Jun Yueyue opened her mouth with absolutely no sincerity and refused, “I’ll do it myself…”

Fang Anyu was deaf. What the hell could he hear? He was currently standing with his back to Jun Yueyue, earnestly working up bubbles with the bath sponge.

Jun Yueyue clicked her tongue and muttered to herself, “Aiya, you really don’t listen.” Then she raised her injured hand and stood by the wall, watching Fang Anyu. After thinking for a moment, she started talking to herself like a lunatic again. “Admit it. You just like the strawberry pattern. When we were discharged, I checked the shop downstairs at the hospital. There were so many patterns for underwear. The little strawberry one was right at the bottom.”

Talking to a deaf person was basically no different from playing the lute to a cow.

Fang Anyu naturally did not respond. Once he had made enough foam, he turned around and carefully applied it to Jun Yueyue. The whole time, he washed her very seriously.

At first, Jun Yueyue had thought he might take the opportunity to take advantage of her or something. After all, this body of hers was not the apocalypse-era King Kong Barbie type. It belonged to a very hot, stunning beauty.

This kind of hot type was actually far more attractive to men than a plain, watery woman. After all, men were truly contradictory creatures. Jun Yueyue had mixed with men for so many years and had treated herself like a man for so many years that she could be considered someone who understood men quite well. They wanted their woman to be untouchable and aloof in front of outsiders, but they also wanted their woman to be wanton and charming in their own bed.

But how could those two types possibly coexist? Wasn’t that just fucking schizophrenia?

Jun Yueyue kept watching Fang Anyu, but Fang Anyu washed her seriously the whole time. When he rinsed her, he even got his own bathrobe wet. It stuck damply to his body, yet Jun Yueyue did not feel even the slightest suggestive movement from him, nor did she see any reaction from him.

He was so serious, as if he were washing some fragile treasure. Jun Yueyue deeply felt that after tonight, Fang Anyu ought to change his surname to Liu. Maybe he was a descendant of Liu Xiahui.

Fang Anyu had never done this kind of “physical labour” before. After he finished washing Jun Yueyue, his whole body looked as if it had been put into a steamer. He was white with a hint of pink, like an enticing shrimp dumpling. Only after wrapping Jun Yueyue in a bath towel did he finally let out a breath of relief. Jun Yueyue heard him exhale and could not help laughing.

Her long hair was wet. Fang Anyu did not know how to wrap hair, so he rubbed it with a towel for a while, but long hair did not dry easily. It clung wetly to her shoulders, neck, and even her face, making her itch.

Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu were like a pair of shrimp dumplings. Mist filled the bathroom. If this were any other novel or drama, this would probably be the forbidden scene that viewers and readers most wanted to see but that would never pass censorship.

But in reality, the two pinkish little people standing opposite each other in the bathroom did not have any charming or ambiguous atmosphere between them. Instead, there was a kind of warmth that even Jun Yueyue found extremely confusing.

Jun Yueyue’s gaze never left him. She did not know what was so good-looking about Fang Anyu. In fact, he was not really her standard type for choosing a partner at all. He did not meet Jun Yueyue’s threshold for a spouse.

Even the confusion from that night when her rice noodles had gone to her head and she had nearly reached out toward Fang Anyu was completely gone now. She felt no fluttering emotion. She clearly knew what she wanted, so there was no need to avoid him like she had after that night.

She could, in this clear-headed state, roll around with Fang Anyu as much as she liked. But she could not, while not clear-headed, hug him even once. That was Jun Yueyue’s bottom line. She would not make promises, but she would not refuse either.

Unfortunately, Fang Anyu did not lust after her beauty. After wrapping her tightly in a large bath towel, he turned on the hairdryer. His long, pinkish-white fingers passed through her long hair as he gently dried it for her.

Putting everything else aside, being served by someone really did feel good. Jun Yueyue leaned back lightly against Fang Anyu and listened to the hairdryer going whirr-whirr by her ear, moving back and forth. It was as if all the fear and chaos from the day had gradually been soothed by that warm sound.

Fang Anyu was a very magical person. Perhaps after Heaven closed a door, it would always open a window. Although he could not speak, his ability to soothe people’s hearts was the strongest Jun Yueyue had ever seen.

In front of him, no matter how troublesome the matter was or how irritable the person, as long as one looked at him for a while, it was difficult to stay angry. Especially when meeting those clear, bright eyes of his, your emotions would become like a stone repeatedly washed by clear water, losing its sharp edges and sinking smoothly and roundly to the bottom.

Before this, Jun Yueyue had always thought that if a person like him were in the apocalypse and wanted to survive, he would have no path other than selling his looks. But the ones who needed pretty faces were all men, and there were too many good-looking, sweet-talking people. Someone like Fang Anyu would not survive more than a few days.

But now, with her eyes closed, she suddenly felt that perhaps if he took another path, he would not even need to awaken a spiritual soothing ability. Just by being an ordinary person like this, he could soothe the violent emotions of ability users.

Because whenever he focused on doing something, he made people empty their minds. Their eyes would only watch him and follow him.

Drying long hair had always been a troublesome thing that gave people headaches. For the first time, Jun Yueyue felt that the time spent drying her hair was a little too short. After her hair was dry and she had been washed clean, Fang Anyu tore off the layers of plastic wrap around her hand one by one. Very good. Not a single drop of water had touched it.

When Jun Yueyue lay comfortably on the bed, she seriously evaluated it in her heart. Being washed from head to toe like this felt better than actually doing it. It was pretty good.

When she was drifting off to sleep, Fang Anyu finally finished with himself and climbed onto the bed. He moved very lightly when he got on and kept observing Jun Yueyue, because last night Jun Yueyue had refused to sleep with him, and Fang Anyu was afraid she would refuse again.

Jun Yueyue sensed Fang Anyu, but she was already so tired that she could not even be bothered to open her eyes. Her curly hair, which had been washed and dried but not treated with any haircare product, spread all over the pillow like wild goose feathers. Buried in it, her whole body relaxed. Just as she was about to lose consciousness completely, she felt a warm temperature press against her back.

Before the corners of Jun Yueyue’s mouth could even rise, she sank completely into sleep.

For the entire night, she did not have any more nightmares. She slept all the way until the next day and was woken by the sound of knocking at the door.

“Eldest Miss, breakfast is ready.” The servant’s voice came from outside the door. Jun Yueyue climbed up and answered, only to discover that not only had the curtains not been drawn, even the bedroom door had not been closed.

With an explosive mess of hair on her head, she touched her face, which had been warmed by the sunlight, then turned to look at Fang Anyu. The moment she moved, she had woken him up too. His eyes were open, but they were still dazed and unfocused. Jun Yueyue could not help reaching out and rubbing his lion’s mane, which matched her own.

When the two of them were washing up, they stared at the mirror in difficulty. Neither of them knew how they had slept on their hair overnight. Even water could not press it down. If they washed it again, they would have to dry it again. Fang Anyu was still fine since his hair was short, but Jun Yueyue’s was really too troublesome.

So the two of them fiddled around in the bathroom for a long time. In the end, Jun Yueyue styled Fang Anyu’s hair into a slicked-back look, barely managing to press it down, while she tied her own hair up and coiled it.

It had to be said that once Fang Anyu’s hair was pushed back, he instantly looked much more mature. Not old, just that without his fringe covering his forehead and with his eyebrows revealed, he no longer looked soft. There was even a faint sense that he was not someone to be trifled with, especially since he was not smiling.

If this were not the Jun family and he had his suits here, Jun Yueyue would definitely have dressed him up as a refined scumbag with a suit, slicked-back hair, and glasses.

Even so, when the two of them went downstairs, they still attracted the attention of the people at the table. After all, whether it was the original Jun Yue or the current Jun Yueyue, neither of them usually tied up their hair. The original body had long, straight black hair, while Jun Yueyue’s flamboyant curls were always loose, every curve of them proclaiming arrogance.

Suddenly styling it this way actually gave her a bit of a virtuous and gentle air.

The two of them went downstairs one after the other. Jun Yueyue unexpectedly discovered that Old Master Jun was already at the table too.

For the past two days, Old Master Jun had barely eaten at the table, probably because Jun Yueyue had angered him. He had only appeared briefly before going back upstairs.

Today, he was actually waiting at the table. It really made one panic.

No one had started eating. She and Fang Anyu were late, so it would really be improper not to greet everyone. Jun Yueyue said, “Good morning, everyone,” and sat down in the empty seat beside Old Master Jun.

For the past few days, she had always sat far away from Old Master Jun, but today the chair had been placed right beside him. Jun Yueyue could hardly drag it somewhere else.

After sitting down, Jun Yueyue originally thought Old Master Jun would definitely say a few words to scold her. After all, she and Fang Anyu had woken up late, then delayed things again while washing up. The servant had come to call them twice, so it was obvious everyone had been waiting for them for quite a while.

But Old Master Jun only glanced at Jun Yueyue, said nothing, picked up his chopsticks, and started eating.

This meal was so tense that Jun Yueyue barely ate more than a few bites. The atmosphere was far too strange. Fang Anyan and Jun Yu barely touched their chopsticks, and Old Master Jun also put his chopsticks down after only a few bites. Only Fang Anyu… was completely unaffected. In one breath, he ate four stuffed pancakes.

His mouth was all oily. When Jun Yueyue saw that he was about to reach for another one, she reached out and pressed down on his hand.

Fang Anyu did stop, but his eyes were full of confusion. He was not full yet!

Fine, although he did not know what being full meant, he usually had to eat twice this amount before being stopped…

But Fang Anyu was very obedient. When Jun Yueyue stopped him and gently shook her head, he stopped. Jun Yueyue took out the phone from her pocket. It was the one Fang Anyu had picked up for her after she fainted yesterday. This knockoff thing was really durable. After being dropped like that, forget the screen breaking—it did not even have a scratch…

Jun Yueyue quickly typed and sent Fang Anyu a message: Didn’t you say yesterday that you wanted to eat the things sold from those little carts? Eat a little less. I’ll take you later.

After Fang Anyu read it, he immediately became happy. After wiping his mouth with a tissue, he sat properly at the table, especially well-behaved.

By the time breakfast was over, it was already almost noon.

“Finished eating?” Only after everyone put down their chopsticks did Old Master Jun speak.

Several people responded one after another. Only then did Old Master Jun say, “Then Yueyue and Yu’er, come to my study. I have something to say to you.”

Of course Jun Yueyue knew what this was about. He was going to announce the matter of that plot of land. Fang Anyan and Jun Yu were clearly so nervous they could barely stand it, but Jun Yueyue’s expression was very normal. She knew that in the plot of the novel, the original body performed badly in that bullshit test, so the land ended up belonging to Jun Yu.

Now that she had transmigrated over, forget performing well—the later tests had all been avoided because she had dragged Fang Anyu around everywhere to play. Naturally, it was impossible for her to pass any test. But that was exactly what she wanted. When Old Master Jun announced that the land would go to Jun Yu, she would take the opportunity to make a scene and demand more money!

Wonderful. After waiting so many days, this plot point had finally arrived!

As Jun Yueyue went upstairs, she rubbed her fists, twisted her neck, and kicked her legs. She might need to do some acting later. She had to throw a proper tantrum. The crying child got the milk!

Fang Anyu could not hear anyway, and strictly speaking, Fang Anyan was now an outsider.

So the two brothers both returned to their rooms. Only Jun Yueyue and Jun Yu went into the study.

Old Master Jun sat behind the desk. Seeing the two sisters come in, he pointed at the chairs opposite him. “Sit.”

Jun Yueyue dragged a chair over without any politeness and sat down. Jun Yu came with her own wheelchair, so there was no need for her to bother.

Old Master Jun fiddled with the safe under the desk for a few moments. Jun Yueyue heard a beep. Old Master Jun bent down and took out a thick stack of documents from inside.

When he placed them on the desk, Jun Yueyue had no reaction, but Jun Yu could not help gripping the armrests of her wheelchair.

Old Master Jun tapped the thick stack of documents and said, “This is a piece of land I bought in the countryside several decades ago.”

Old Master Jun did not beat around the bush and said directly, “When I bought it back then, it was only because that piece of land happened to be in the village where your grandmother and I once lived. At that time, the place was very desolate. But now, the surrounding area has developed, and that piece of land has instead become the Jun family’s greatest asset.”

“I am old now. Managing the Jun family company is truly exhausting. Originally, I wanted you sisters to take over, but as girls, in the business world, you will suffer disadvantages no matter what. So I thought I would have you find suitable marriage partners, to help support the Jun family.”

“I did not expect you sisters to fall for the same person.” Old Master Jun sighed.

Jun Yueyue hurriedly said, “No, no, no, Grandfather. I was blind before, that’s why I liked Fang Anyan. Now I absolutely won’t. I won’t fight with Jun Yu, and I won’t make trouble. Don’t worry!” So give me more money!

Old Master Jun pursed his lips and looked at the two sisters. For a long while, he did not speak. When Jun Yu heard Jun Yueyue say this, she seemed to want to say something too, but she also seemed to have nothing to say. She could not give up the land, because that was something she could rely on for the rest of her life. She could not give up Fang Anyan either, because he was the most suitable choice.

In her heart, Jun Yu still did not believe that her older sister no longer liked Fang Anyan. She only thought that her sister had become smarter and had learned how to act in front of Grandfather.

After pausing for a while, Old Master Jun said again, “Actually, regarding who should receive this land and whose hands the Jun family should be placed in, I have considered it for a long time. I also arranged some tests for you sisters. Do not blame Grandfather. Grandfather is old, and recently there have been many problems with my health. Grandfather only hopes that if one day I am no longer here, you sisters can look after each other and not become estranged for the sake of a man or profit. Because when you reach Grandfather’s age, you will know that family are the people most worthy of trust.”

The fake smile on Jun Yueyue’s face nearly slipped. For the sake of money, she should have gone along with him and said something pleasant. But those words were like a straight sword piercing through her chest.

Family are the people most worthy of trust?

No.

In this world, in the face of life and death, at certain specific moments, no one was more important than oneself. The price paid for trust and reliance was immeasurable. Even those old, festering wounds left behind across another world would rot and stink whenever one saw familiar people and familiar scenes. They would never heal.

Jun Yueyue lowered her head and did not speak. She heard Jun Yu respond.

Old Master Jun fell silent for another while. When Jun Yu was so nervous that the fingers gripping her wheelchair had turned pale, and Jun Yueyue had barely suppressed those cold memories and raised her head, he finally said, “In the end, I have decided to hand the development of this land and the Jun family business to Yueyue. But I have one condition.”

Old Master Jun said, “You must divorce Fang Anyu and look for someone else who can shoulder the Jun family, while also ensuring that the Jun family does not completely fall under someone else’s control.”

Jun Yueyue nodded instinctively and said, “I agree.” But after she said it, she realised this was different from what she had foreseen. What Old Master Jun said was also different from what happened in the plot!

“What?” Jun Yueyue shouted.

At the same time, Jun Yu also cried out, “Grandfather!”

Old Master Jun frowned and looked at Jun Yueyue. “Naturally, your judgment is no good. Fang Anyan is indeed a suitable candidate, but he was previously so attentive toward Yu’er. If he really sees that you have obtained the land and turns back to want you, then he is not acceptable. So he is not among the marriage candidates.”

“No…” Jun Yueyue was tongue-tied. How was this different from the plot?!

“Grandfather…” Jun Yu could no longer hear anything else. Her tears had already rushed out like floodgates opening.

Old Master Jun’s gaze toward Jun Yueyue was as displeased as ever, but he still said, “You do not need to worry. I will help you look for candidates. Before Grandfather completely collapses, I will help you support the Jun family. But half of the Jun family company’s shares must belong to Yu’er. You must sign a contract. No matter what happens in the future, you cannot fight over the portion that belongs to Yu’er in any form.”

Jun Yu had already cried into a mess. Only then did Jun Yueyue come back to herself from the huge amount of information and hurriedly said, “No, I can’t. I don’t want to be some family head. I want shares, or money is fine too. Weren’t Jun Yu and Fang Anyan the ones you originally favoured? This is perfect, Grandfather, don’t…”

Jun Yueyue swallowed back the words “don’t pull this crazy move.” Meeting Jun Yu’s stunned gaze, she even reached out and wiped her tears because she was nearby. “Don’t cry. Grandfather is just teasing you. The Jun family will go to you, and I won’t fight you for Fang Anyan either. You’re the protagonist. Don’t worry…”

Jun Yu stared blankly again at Old Master Jun. But Old Master Jun suddenly flew into a rage.

“No more nonsense! You were born with a rebellious streak. Your thoughts have never been on the proper path. These past few days, you finally became a little better. Are you trying to anger me to death?”

After Old Master Jun finished speaking, one hand supported the back of his neck while the other raised his cane toward Jun Yueyue. Seeing that he was about to strike her, Jun Yueyue did not know why the plot had suddenly gone off course, but Old Master Jun looked like he was about to have a stroke. His face was flushed red, so for the moment, she did not dare say anything else.

“Get out!” Old Master Jun pointed his cane at Jun Yueyue.
