MDMSC Chapter 37

Beg Her (3-in-1)

Jun Yueyue was wearing high heels—the kind with extremely thin heels. When she kicked out, she had not held back her strength at all, and the kick hurt Li Li badly. But he was still a grown man after all. After standing straight, he looked at Jun Yueyue, narrowed his eyes, and smiled.

“I saw Miss Jun spacing out the whole time, so I was just making a joke.”

“Don’t be angry, Miss Jun. I’m a crude man. I was rude. I apologise.” As Li Li spoke, he even gave Jun Yueyue a slight bow, looking every bit the gentleman.

But Jun Yueyue was not that easy to fool. His attitude was very sincere, but his eyes were filled with the complete opposite emotion. Still, Jun Yueyue did not care. Strictly speaking, today’s meeting, given Jun Yueyue’s identity, was the shameful act of a married woman relying on her family’s wealth to find her next prospect before she had even divorced.

The other party must have looked into her situation too. If he had treated her especially well, Jun Yueyue would have found it harder to handle. But now, this person was Li Li, and he was clearly impatient, even disdainful towards her.

Although Jun Yueyue did not know him that well, she had heard plenty of legends about him in the apocalypse. It was said that he was especially wilful, that those who obeyed him prospered. Compared with people who outwardly obeyed while secretly resisting, Jun Yueyue preferred this type of personality. Even if his current personality was different from the completely unrestrained one he had after morality collapsed in the apocalypse, there would always be roots to it.

Li Li had climbed to his current position. For a piece of land, was he really willing to marry a married woman?

The lift arrived. Jun Yueyue’s thoughts turned several times, but she did not speak again. She only stared at Li Li for a couple of seconds, then voluntarily walked beside him, while refusing to hold his arm like a female companion.

This person might be someone she could discuss cooperation with.

Jun Yueyue calculated inwardly and followed him towards the banquet.

Although this was called a banquet, in reality, it was more of a meeting event. Everyone here was from Pingchuan. Apart from Li Li, Jun Yueyue did not know anyone. Holding a wine glass, she stood beside Li Li and watched as Old Master Jun moved among several old fellows like a fluttering butterfly, looking very lively.

Ever since Jun Yueyue had kicked him, Li Li had been unable to stop paying attention to her. At first, he thought this was the method this woman was using to attract him. After all, her curly hair, her brows and eyes, and her style of dress did indeed make her look like a little wildcat.

But if it was intentional, there should at least be a limit. She had stared at him blankly the moment they met, but now, after standing beside him for an entire hour, she had not looked at him once. She was either staring at the old man or repeatedly opening her handbag to check her phone. Clearly, she truly did not want to bother with him.

Li Li was someone who had rolled around in the business world and moved through crowds of people. He spoke human words to humans and ghostly words to ghosts. The moment he realised Jun Yueyue was not playing hard to get, but was genuinely uninterested in him, he instantly became a different person.

“Are you hungry? You didn’t eat before coming, did you? Why don’t I take you to eat something?” His voice was completely different from at the start. Jun Yueyue could not help turning her head to look at him warily.

Li Li smiled at her, revealing a little sincerity. Pressing a hand to his stomach, he said, “I really haven’t eaten either. It keeps growling.”

Jun Yueyue hesitated for a moment, then took out her phone and glanced at it again before agreeing. Otherwise, she had also been planning to find a chance to talk to Li Li. This was indeed an opportunity. Although they had only just met for the first time, and he might very well tell Old Master Jun everything she said, Jun Yueyue did not have any other options right now.

Fang Anyu still had not replied to her messages. Only Fang Anyan had replied with one message, saying that his brother had already fallen asleep. Jun Yueyue did not believe it at all. Fang Anyu had been reluctant to hang up even while she was asleep. How could he possibly have gone to sleep without receiving her message?

Jun Yueyue had failed to hide her thoughts from Old Master Jun. She had thought he would make a move, but now it seemed she was still too foolish. Judging by the situation, Old Master Jun had probably already acted the moment she left Qiuhai City.

The only thing she could be sure of now was that Fang Anyu was at least safe. Otherwise, the first person to explode at her would have been Fang Anyan. Besides, Old Master Jun was only a businessman. He was not truly involved in the underworld; he would not really do anything to Fang Anyu. After all, the Fang family was not just decoration either.

As for what method Old Master Jun would use… Jun Yueyue could not think of it.

She had to handle things on this side as quickly as possible and get away. Only after returning could she find out.

Jun Yueyue followed behind Li Li. After leaving the banquet, they took the lift to the top floor. There was a restaurant there, surrounded on all four sides by floor-to-ceiling windows. It was very suitable for viewing the night scenery. Pingchuan’s neon lights could all be taken in at once. Jun Yueyue sat by the window. Li Li handed her the menu, and she raised her hand to push it back.

“Anything is fine. As long as it fills my stomach a little. You order.”

Li Li looked at how distracted she had been the whole time. He only pressed his lips together, then made the decision and ordered.

While waiting for the dishes, Jun Yueyue fiddled with her phone for a while and sent Fang Anyu another message.

—Darling, are you asleep? Reply to me when you see this, okay?

Li Li kept trying to speak to her, but Jun Yueyue did not give him a chance to open his mouth. Seeing her play with her phone, Li Li stiffly said, “What brand is that phone? It looks very unique.”

“A Mei’ai hand-assembled phone, an eight-year warranty couple phone. There are probably only two of them in the world… But that’s not what you want to talk about, right?”

Jun Yueyue put her phone away. Sitting face-to-face with him, she did not beat around the bush.

“You should already know. I went mad before and casually married someone. Right now, I’m a married woman.”

Li Li froze slightly. He had not expected Jun Yueyue to speak so bluntly. But he lifted his wine glass and gently swirled it without saying anything, waiting for Jun Yueyue’s next words.

“To be honest, the Jun family originally had nothing to do with me. My younger sister was supposed to be in charge. But some things went wrong in the middle, and that’s how it landed in my hands.” Jun Yueyue tapped her fingers on the table. “There’s no reason to reject something that has already fallen into your hands. But as for me, I’m someone without much ambition.”

Jun Yueyue said bluntly, “After sleeping with my husband twice, I can’t leave him anymore. Now my grandfather is forcing me to divorce. President Li, you’re a talented and handsome man. I imagine you don’t want to marry a divorced woman whose heart still belongs to someone else either. How unpleasant would that be?”

“So?” Li Li looked at Jun Yueyue, his face full of amusement.

Jun Yueyue said, “As long as your tongue isn’t too long, and you don’t repeat what I say today to my grandfather, I think we can cooperate.”

“It’s only a piece of land,” Jun Yueyue said. “Why insist on dragging major life decisions into it?”

Li Li laughed, the emotion in his eyes unreadable. “I’m guessing Miss Jun doesn’t know the value of this ‘only a piece of land’ you’re talking about, right?”

“In my eyes, making money is a major life decision.” Li Li shrugged.

“Initial estimates place it at several hundred million, but the investment needed to develop it definitely won’t be small either. After development, if the higher-ups suddenly go crazy and classify it as part of a nature reserve, then all the investment will go down the drain,” Jun Yueyue said. “My grandfather didn’t tell you there may be movement from above, did he? Rare trees were discovered on that land. Otherwise, why would he have been in no hurry all these years, only to suddenly become anxious now?”

The playful look on Li Li’s face disappeared. He immediately sat upright. “Is what you’re saying true?”

Jun Yueyue waved a hand. “It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe it. I’ll tell you one more thing. My grandfather is dying. Late-stage stomach cancer. I believe you definitely have a way to verify that.”

Jun Yueyue said, “The Jun family is indeed a large and powerful family. Whether I or my younger sister becomes the family head, we would indeed both need a marriage alliance to stabilise the business.”

“But that is under the premise that the Jun family remains completely intact,” Jun Yueyue said. “My grandfather is old. It’s normal that he can’t bear to let go of the empire he built over his lifetime. But honestly, there’s really no need for him to work so hard like an old hen trying to protect every single chick. For my sister and me to live a comfortable life without worrying about food and clothing, we don’t need such a huge family business.”

“President Li is ambitious. You know what a good opportunity this is,” Jun Yueyue tempted him. “You only need to act according to my grandfather’s hopes and put on a show with me. That land hasn’t even been inspected yet. You know better than anyone how short half a year is for launching such a huge project. Delay it a little. Whatever happens, he won’t be able to last until then.”

Li Li looked at Jun Yueyue, finding it unbelievable that someone could be foolish enough to invite him to devour her own family business. But Jun Yueyue’s expression was so sincere that Li Li could not find even the slightest trace of conspiracy. She looked exactly like a woman being stupid for love.

Seeing that Li Li was tempted, Jun Yueyue withdrew the bait and leaned back in her chair again. She picked up the wine glass and sniffed it, then frowned.

“It’s just a piece of land. Even if all the investment is recovered, it won’t turn a profit in the short term. Even if the later returns are indeed considerable, President Li, a person’s life is too short. Selling yourself for that little bit of money is looking down on yourself too much.”

Maybe the world would end one day anyway. If you sold yourself, you would have sold yourself for nothing.

“I’m selling myself?” Li Li was amused by Jun Yueyue’s wording. Since Jun Yueyue could speak so openly, he stopped restraining himself too and exposed his true nature. “I’m a man. I…”

Jun Yueyue shook her head and raised her hand to interrupt him. “Because you’re a man, you won’t lose out no matter what?”

“Forgive me for speaking bluntly, but can you have someone else go to bed in your place?” Jun Yueyue said. “My grandfather draws you a big pie, the kind where you won’t even see a bit of meat for several years, and you’re already impatient to hang it around your neck. Think carefully. If you really marry me, even if I disgust you, you’ll still have to keep up appearances, right?”

Jun Yueyue said, “For a project with invisible returns and future prospects, you’ll have to serve in bed a woman whose heart is thinking of someone else. If that isn’t selling yourself, then what is?”

Li Li opened his mouth, but for a moment, he actually could not say anything to refute her. Jun Yueyue continued, “For the sake of guaranteeing the future, maybe he’ll even make us have a child before he dies. Tsk, tsk, tsk…”

Jun Yueyue sighed. “At that time, even if you feel disgusted, that will still be your biological son. Will you want him or not? If you want him, then you’ll have to endure the disgust for a lifetime. Maybe you can keep seven or eight little lovers, but the legal wife will forever be me. When you sleep, you’ll have to sleep beside me. When you die, you’ll have to be buried with me.”

“If you don’t want him and don’t care for him, if you can be completely ruthless, then perhaps your son will become the next you.”

Jun Yueyue began stabbing directly at his heart. “You came out to fight your way up at such a young age. How bitter it was, what kind of contempt you suffered, how difficult it was—I don’t need to say it. President Li, you understand it better than anyone.”

“But perhaps your son won’t have your luck. After all, he won’t be completely alone. He’ll still have a mother weighing him down, so he won’t be able to stake everything on one throw. Maybe he’ll even live under the shadow of his scumbag father, meaning you, and never be able to make anything of himself. When that time comes, if you meet each other in the business world, could you really pretend not to know him?”

“If we join together, it is destined to be a tragedy. There are countless examples in this circle. President Li, did you grit your teeth and climb to where you are today just to become the kind of person you once looked down on the most?”

Jun Yueyue did not tell a single lie. She did not even exaggerate. She merely spread out before Li Li the possible future that could happen if they really followed Old Master Jun’s plan.

This man’s proud backbone had not yet been completely crushed by worldly ways. Back when he set out with the intention of becoming someone above others, it indeed had not been so he could live the way Jun Yueyue described.

So he was actually shaken by Jun Yueyue’s seemingly absurd words.

Just as he was about to speak, Jun Yueyue’s phone suddenly rang. In a flurry, Jun Yueyue put down the dish she had just been about to eat, picked up the phone on the table, glanced at it, and suddenly smiled.

Her smile was dazzlingly bright. A row of little white teeth showed, stinging even Li Li’s eyes.

This woman, from the moment she had met him, had done nothing but speak sarcastically and bare her sharp teeth. He had not expected she could smile so brilliantly.

It was Fang Anyu’s video call!

After Jun Yueyue tapped it open, Fang Anyu’s side profile appeared on the screen, lying against a pillow. Jun Yueyue’s heart, which had been hanging tightly all night, finally settled a little.

She switched to the small window and quickly typed:

—Were you asleep just now? Why didn’t you reply to my messages? Pouting.jpg

Half of Fang Anyu’s head was buried in the pillow. After taking the phone and reading the message, he reached out and poked the screen for a while, then replied:

—Mm, I fell asleep. I saw you sent lots of messages. I’m fine. I just fell asleep.

Jun Yueyue smiled at the screen, her hands typing quickly.

—Then will you still be able to sleep tonight?

Fang Anyu stared at Jun Yueyue on the screen for a long while, his eyes not shifting even a little. After a while, he typed, but he did not answer Jun Yueyue’s question. Instead, he asked:

—Where are you?

Jun Yueyue replied:

—In Pingchuan. My grandpa brought me to a banquet.

—Then… what are you doing?

Jun Yueyue replied:

—Eating.

—With who?

Jun Yueyue started sweating a little. She glanced at Li Li across from her. If the video had not been pointed at her the entire time, with her face on the screen, she would have thought Fang Anyu had seen Li Li.

Jun Yueyue did not want to hide it, but Li Li’s existence really could not be told to him. She could not exactly say, “I’m eating with the next prospect my grandfather introduced to me.” Fang Anyu had already been taught by her to know how to get jealous now. If he got angry, it would be difficult to coax him from so far away.

She only said vaguely:

—With a business partner.

Fang Anyu did not ask again. Very soon, he hung up the video. Jun Yueyue stared blankly at the disconnected call for a moment and subconsciously stood up. But soon, a message came over.

—I’m sleepy. I’ll sleep first. You eat.

Jun Yueyue kept feeling that Fang Anyu’s attitude was not quite right, but after thinking carefully, she did not think she had said anything wrong. After sitting down, she glanced at Li Li, who had already started eating by himself, then casually ate a few bites and said, “Think carefully about what I said. If we cooperate, as long as we delay until my grandfather can no longer interfere, I guarantee you’ll take the bigger share. I’ll leave first. I still have something to deal with when I get back.”

Li Li looked up at Jun Yueyue, then glanced at the clear reflection of himself in the floor-to-ceiling window behind her. He smiled and did not tell her. He only said, “All right. But shouldn’t we exchange contact information?”

Jun Yueyue nodded. “Okay. Then… tell me your number.”

They exchanged numbers. Li Li did not get up to see Jun Yueyue off. Jun Yueyue left by herself. He stopped eating, wiped his mouth, then gave a soft laugh.

“Stupid woman.”

There was no reason not to eat up such a piece of fatty meat delivered right to his door. Li Li narrowed his eyes. If everything she said was true, then cooperation… was indeed the best choice.

Jun Yueyue went straight to the front desk. When they came, Old Master Jun had already said that they would not be going back today and that rooms had been booked at the hotel.

After checking the booked room at the front desk, Jun Yueyue returned to her room and continued sending messages to Fang Anyu. But Fang Anyu did not reply to any of them. She sent him a video call, but he did not answer either.

Had he really fallen asleep again?

Jun Yueyue glanced at the time. It was not even eleven yet. Usually, Fang Anyu would not be asleep at this time…

He had already slept the whole day. Could he really fall asleep this early at night too? Was he feeling unwell?

Jun Yueyue could not help calling Fang Anyan again. Fang Anyan did answer, but he was not at home. His explanation was also just a guess that Fang Anyu had fallen asleep.

“Why did he sleep again? Didn’t he already sleep all day?” Jun Yueyue asked doubtfully.

“My brother… has a slight fever. During the day, we invited the family doctor over to give him an injection and medicine. There’s probably something in it that helps with sleep.”

Jun Yueyue thought of Fang Anyu’s torn wound on his hand, the injury on his wrist, and the fright from that day. It was quite normal that he would develop a fever.

But she was truly very worried.

“What temperature? Is it serious?”

“Not serious,” Fang Anyan said. “The doctor said he’ll be fine after another injection tomorrow. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up first. I’m outside right now.”

Fang Anyan’s side was indeed noisy with voices. He was probably out socialising. Jun Yueyue could not really keep bothering him, so after hanging up, she lay down on the bed and sighed.

How long had she and Fang Anyu been apart? He had only sent her a few fewer messages, and Jun Yueyue already could not bear it. She really was exactly as she had said—hopeless.

It was normal not to want to pay attention to people when you were ill, Jun Yueyue comforted herself. Then she washed up and went to bed early.

The next morning, Jun Yueyue was woken by a phone call. When she picked up, it was Old Master Jun on the other side. He told her to wash up quickly. Someone would send clothes over to her in a while. After changing, they would go together to Gantan Mountain.

Gantan Mountain was the Jun family’s piece of land. After Jun Yueyue agreed and hung up, she began washing up. When she had almost finished, a hotel staff member really did bring her a set of sportswear that was convenient for moving around.

Jun Yueyue changed into the clothes, took her phone, and started sending messages to Fang Anyu again. However, it was still too early now, so she was not surprised that Fang Anyu did not reply. She only left messages reminding him to take his medicine properly and eat properly, and telling him to reply when he had time.

After changing, she went to Old Master Jun’s room. It was right opposite hers. Old Master Jun was wearing pyjamas and sitting on the hotel sofa drinking tea.

When he saw Jun Yueyue, he told her to sit down, then directly asked, “How did you feel after meeting Xiao Li yesterday?”

Jun Yueyue had already expected that he would ask this, so her expression remained quite natural. She only paused slightly before saying, “He… is all right, I suppose. But Grandpa, did he really come to Pingchuan and fight his way up alone? No one helped him?”

There was no such person as Li Li in the plot at all. Apart from knowing that he was a bigshot in the apocalypse, Jun Yueyue did not know much about him.

Jun Yueyue had thought over these words that morning. By saying this, she could show that her first impression of Li Li was acceptable, while also seeming unable to hold back her curiosity, as if she had already developed some interest in him.

Old Master Jun was indeed fairly satisfied with her answer. A slight smile appeared on his face.

“Of course he was alone. He has no background at all. When he first arrived in Pingchuan, he was working on a construction site.”

Jun Yueyue nodded and praised him insincerely. “Then he really is impressive…”

Old Master Jun merely looked at Jun Yueyue and smiled. After drinking tea for a while, he said again, “A man still has to be capable to be reliable. Divorce that boy from the Fang family, then be with Li Li. Only he can truly help you in the future.”

Jun Yueyue held the teacup and did not say anything. But this time, Old Master Jun was not vague. He asked her directly, “Give me a straight answer. Are you divorcing him or not?”

Jun Yueyue glanced at Old Master Jun and knew that she could not muddle through it this time. However, she still did not agree readily. She only said, “Whether I divorce him or not, Grandpa, I still have to tell him face-to-face. Otherwise, what would that make me…”

“Hmph.” Old Master Jun looked at her as if disappointed that she did not live up to expectations. “After we return, deal with this matter properly. Understand?”

“I know, I know,” Jun Yueyue said vaguely. “I’ll deal with it when we get back…” Deal with it, my ass!

The two of them drank tea, each with their own thoughts. After a while, there was a knock on the door. Jun Yueyue got up to open it and saw Li Li standing outside, also dressed in sportswear. She instantly understood Old Master Jun’s intention.

In the end, Jun Yueyue and Li Li rode in the same car and set off in the direction of Gantan Mountain. Old Master Jun went straight back to Xiude Town, saying that he was not feeling well.

On the road, both Jun Yueyue and Li Li remained silent. Jun Yueyue kept waiting for Fang Anyu to message her, but the car drove further and further into remote areas. After more than two full hours of winding around mountain roads, at around ten in the morning, Fang Anyu still had not replied to her messages.

Jun Yueyue’s heart began feeling unsettled again. She called Fang Anyan, but Fang Anyan did not pick up either.

At this time, he should be at the company. If he was not answering, perhaps he was in a meeting.

The car finally stopped. Jun Yueyue had been looking down and fiddling with her phone the whole time, so she had not paid attention to the scenery outside the window. Only when the car stopped at the foot of the mountain, and she, Li Li, and the people following behind them for the inspection all got out, did Jun Yueyue realise that the scenery here was terrifyingly familiar.

This was… the place where they had encountered that Jiang family brat last time!

A thunderclap seemed to explode in Jun Yueyue’s mind. She watched Li Li direct people up the mountain, then followed the group slowly up. The more they walked, the more familiar it became. When they reached a hillside and she saw the towering trees rising from the deep ditch, their crowns all tangled together, she seemed to flash back to the apocalypse—to that time when they had been driven to the end of the road and had run with their injured companions to the gate of that base for help.

At that time, those huge trees had been almost exactly the same as now. The only difference was that back then, some trees had already been broken by violent storms. And in front of the hillside where she now stood, there had not been a bare stretch of land, but continuous stone walls standing tall and undulating, stretching endlessly and so high they were impossible to climb.

Apart from the stone gate, there had been no way to enter. Back then, Jun Yueyue had known this was the largest base. She and her injured companions had also come here to try their luck.

But their luck had not been good. The people here only cared about supplies. Without enough supplies, no one could enter. They were refused entry and could only turn back, hide in the city for several days, and finally find a car to drive back to their own base.

The Jun family’s piece of land was actually—the largest survivor base Jun Yueyue had known after the apocalypse.

When Jun Yueyue had been fleeing for her life, chased everywhere by zombies, everything had already been so desolate that it barely looked like the same world. Plants grew wildly and rampantly, covering high-rise buildings. No matter which city you went to, the scenery was almost the same. No one cared what the city they were in was called; they only cared whether they could find any supplies left behind inside.

If this piece of land belonging to the Jun family was the largest base after the apocalypse, then it was not hard to explain why Li Li, the bigshot base leader from the apocalypse, would have a connection with the Jun family.

Jun Yueyue stood on the hillside, looking at Li Li not far away as he spoke to several people about something. A strange sense of absurdity filled her heart.

It seemed that her guess…

Crack—

Jun Yueyue’s train of thought was split apart by a tremendous sound above her head.

Her mind instantly buzzed. The thunder seemed to have exploded right beside her ear. But the sky above was clear for thousands of miles, without a single cloud…

Crack, crack, crack—

The sound of thunder kept ringing out. Not far away, everyone panicked and hid under the trees. Li Li ran towards Jun Yueyue, reaching out to pull her under the trees as well, but Jun Yueyue flung his hand away…

She raised her head and looked at the sky. Because it was daytime, the traces of lightning were extremely, extremely faint. But if one forced oneself to look despite the strong light, one could still see the marks of lightning spread across the sky like a spiderweb.

Crack, crack, crack—

One urgent, dense thunderclap after another gradually overlapped the two worlds that Jun Yueyue had been desperately trying to separate in her heart.

Her eyes could barely open against the sunlight. Physiological tears slid from the corners of her eyes. She stared fixedly at the thin, constantly flashing spiderweb-like lightning in the sky, listening to the endless thunder by her ears. Her breathing felt as if someone had seized her throat, and her chest was so suffocated it was about to burst.

“Thunder… from a clear sky…”

Jun Yueyue’s face was covered in tears. She looked at Li Li with an indescribably sorrowful gaze.

Softly, she said, “Five months…”

Li Li did not know what she was talking about, but he was so startled by Jun Yueyue’s gaze that his footsteps stopped. He even took half a step back.

That was not a gaze that a girl in her twenties should have. Inside it was a desolation that could only come from experiencing a man-eating world where the world had overturned and humanity had been utterly lost.

If everything before this could still be forcibly labelled as coincidence—the so-called extreme weather being only because this world’s rain was especially heavy, the so-called people who looked alike perhaps simply being lookalikes—

Jun Yueyue, who had always used such thoughts to numb herself with a lucky hope and refused to think too deeply, finally had no choice but to admit at this moment just how absurd this world was.

Thunder from a clear sky was an abnormal sign that only appeared five months before the start of the apocalypse. After this, plants began growing in ways unlike normal phenomena. At first, it had not even attracted people’s attention. Only a small number of people posted on their social media, saying how the plants at home had grown lush after only a few days of not looking.

But this did not catch people’s attention. Even when the news reported it, it was classified as strange anecdotes and odd events. After all, the seasons changed; many times, spring greenery could appear overnight, and autumn leaves could fall overnight. There was nothing particularly surprising about it.

But as the thunder from clear skies became more and more frequent, it was not only plants that became abnormal. Animals also began dying in batches. At first, it was migratory birds flying in the sky. Then it was the pets most commonly found around humans.

By the time people started realising something was wrong and rumours spread everywhere, the media and those above, fearing public panic, began forcibly explaining this phenomenon as natural events and epidemic diseases among birds and animals.

And when this abnormal phenomenon began spreading to humans, with feverish and mutually contagious people everywhere, it seemed to confirm the theory of an epidemic disease. It still did not attract the attention of most people. Besides, apart from fever, there were no complications at all, and after a few days, people recovered on their own. It was further defined as the least harmful kind of flu.

But several months later, on a certain day, when humans woke from sleep, a large portion of those who had once had fevers had already turned into mindless walking corpses and began crazily tearing into the relatives beside them. By then, everything was already out of control.

Thinking of this, even though the sun was still shining brightly, Jun Yueyue felt cold all over.

When she had opened her eyes in someone else’s body, she had thought she had escaped that man-eating world. When she was filled with hope and had even begun embracing love, who could tell her why the nightmare still had to start all over again?!

The thunder from the clear sky had clearly frightened the inspection group. Jun Yueyue’s emotions were a little out of control. She took out her phone and frantically called Fang Anyu, but every call was automatically cut off and unable to connect.

Fang Anyan did not answer her calls either. Jun Yueyue could not stay here for even one more minute. If this world had only five months left before it turned into hell, then in this final beautiful period, she only wanted to stay with Fang Anyu.

Those people were still under the trees, trying to use the canopies to avoid the thunderbolts. They were confused by this unreasonable weather, but they did not dare step out and expose themselves under the sunlight either.

Jun Yueyue only felt sorrowful when she saw them. At first, the thunder from clear skies had indeed warned people and caused some panic. But this abnormal phenomenon that was only a warning and had no actual harmful effect quickly made everyone calm down and return to normal work and life.

Jun Yueyue glanced in the direction where Li Li and those people stood, then turned and ran down the hillside, heading towards the cars.

There were several cars that had driven over. Jun Yueyue ran to the one she had ridden in when they came. Fortunately, the car had been arranged by Old Master Jun, and the driver inside had not gotten out. He was merely listening to the sounds outside in some panic.

Jun Yueyue opened the door and got in, ordering, “Drive! Back to Qiuhai City!”

The driver also did not dare expose himself in such a situation. He quickly started the car, turned the steering wheel all the way, and sped rapidly back along the road they had come from.

After getting into the car, Jun Yueyue’s somewhat collapsed emotions quickly stabilised. This guess had not been around for just a day or two. When it was truly confirmed, it was stimulating enough, but she had also been mentally prepared enough.

She had to get back to Fang Anyu’s side as quickly as possible, then think of a way, think of a way…

Jun Yueyue kept making calls and sending messages, but there was no news from Fang Anyu’s side. The driver did not drive the car directly back to Qiuhai City. He was Old Master Jun’s man, so the car drove straight back to Xiude Town.

Jun Yueyue had almost already concluded that something had happened on Fang Anyu’s side. She did not force the driver to drive towards Qiuhai City. She merely sat in the car somewhat numbly, letting the car enter Xiude Town and return to the Jun residence.

Old Master Jun was at home, standing in the courtyard with a pair of shears in his hand, trimming the branches and leaves of a tree. After Jun Yueyue got out of the car, she went directly to Old Master Jun’s side and said straight away, “What did you do? Did you reach some agreement with the Fang family?”

At a time like this, Jun Yueyue truly did not even want to pretend anymore. Her voice and expression were both stern.

“What did you do behind my back?!”

When Old Master Jun made his move, he had imagined all kinds of reactions from this eldest granddaughter of his. But he had not expected her reaction to be this intense.

A little stunned, he turned his head and looked at her twisted expression as she questioned him. Anger surged up from the bottom of his heart. So all of this granddaughter’s behaviour earlier had been an act! It seemed that fool from the Fang family really had bewitched her!

Fortunately, he had acted first. Otherwise, it really would have been troublesome to make her divorce him on her own.

Old Master Jun’s face also darkened. He threw the large shears onto the flower bed with a clang and said, “What agreement would I need to reach with the Fang family? With their current situation, they’ll eagerly crawl over with just a little money. Their family can even push out a fool to be used. Do you still think their family has much integrity?!”

“So what exactly did you do?” Jun Yueyue grabbed Old Master Jun’s sleeve. Old Master Jun raised his hand and shook her off.

“You couldn’t bear to part with that fool, so I merely helped you. I only agreed to one small project, and his parents could not wait to make him sign the divorce agreement. The signed divorce agreement is being sent here now. It’s already on the way.”

Jun Yueyue took a step back and looked at Old Master Jun in disbelief. She was really almost driven mad with anger by him. She truly had not thought of such a despicable method. But would Fang Anyu really obediently sign the divorce agreement?

Fang Anyu indeed had not signed.

His father and mother had returned together, and he had originally been very happy. But when they told him that they wanted him to divorce Jun Yueyue, Fang Anyu did not agree.

He did not sign. Even after he saw Jun Yueyue eating with another man, even after Old Master Jun sent over a recording converted into text, and he saw that Jun Yueyue had said she would deal with her marriage to him when she came back, Fang Anyu still did not sign.

He did not believe it. Even if it was true, he still wanted Jun Yueyue to tell him personally. If Jun Yueyue really told him face-to-face that she did not want him anymore, Fang Anyu felt that as long as he begged her, perhaps she would soften her heart…

Fang Anyu locked himself inside the little room on the balcony and locked the door. His phone had been taken away by his family. He hugged his knees, buried his head in his legs, and refused to listen to any sounds from the outside world. His heart was filled only with sadness.

To Fang Anyu, this was simply thunder from a clear sky. Because he had fought with his mother over the phone, the wound on his hand seemed to have torn open again. Blood seeped through the gauze, and the wound throbbed with pain.

Why had things become like this? Why were his father and mother forcing him to divorce? Had Jun Yueyue really agreed to Old Master Jun’s demand to divorce him?

That day, in order to make him give up, his mother had opened a video call for him. Who was that man sitting opposite her in the video?

Did she really not want him anymore? But she had clearly said that she liked him so, so much.

He… what was he supposed to do?
