I’ll Give You an Injection
By the time Wu Zhenfei reacted and tried to pull the knife away, everyone had already turned past the corner trimmed from greenery and was looking in his direction.
How should that scene be described?
Faced with so many people staring at him with eyes about to split open, Wu Zhenfei’s human instinct drove him to immediately get up and run. But he had only run a few steps before Fang Anyan, whose speed had already evolved to a certain degree, sent him flying with a kick and knocked him flat onto the ground.
Jun Yueyue also rushed to Fang Anyu’s side right behind Fang Anyan.
In truth, she was even less rational than Fang Anyan. But after helping Fang Anyu up, aside from the shallow wound on his neck, she did not see any signs of being hit. However, there was bleeding from his nose and mouth, and the little leaves on his head were so wilted they had begun turning yellow. His whole person looked like a plant that had been exposed to scorching sunlight.
“It wasn’t me! He threw himself onto my knife!” Wu Zhenfei shouted from the ground, shielding his head with his arms and explaining at the top of his lungs, afraid that if Fang Anyan got impulsive, he would throw a fireball at him.
He had seen Fang Anyan’s fireballs. They were even more powerful than using diesel to burn zombies.
However, Fang Anyan only kicked him once and did not move again. Jun Yueyue quickly stopped him too.
“Anyan!”
Fang Anyan turned and walked to his brother’s side. After checking Fang Anyu’s injuries, he immediately frowned too.
This… did not look like a fight. There were no injuries on Fang Anyu’s body or face. His whole state was more like… overconsumption?
“What’s going on? Wasn’t he perfectly fine this morning?” Fang Anyan’s brows furrowed deeper and deeper. He looked back at Wu Zhenfei, who was shrinking not far away, then met Jun Yueyue’s gaze.
“This isn’t the first time he’s been like this,” Jun Yueyue said. “Didn’t I tell you this morning? Your brother said once he leaves me, his heart hurts so much he can hardly bear it. The farther away he is, the worse it gets. Did you think I was joking?”
“What about the wound on his neck, then?” Fang Anyan looked at Jun Yueyue with a dark expression. “Who in Qiuhai City doesn’t know Wu Zhenfei is obsessed with you? With my brother like this, who can guarantee he didn’t take advantage of the situation and try to harm him?”
Wu Zhenfei was crouching beside the cart not far away. Hearing this, he immediately defended himself.
“I didn’t! I saw that something seemed wrong with him, so I asked him what happened. He was the one who grabbed the knife and held it to my neck… ptooey!”
In his panic, he misspoke and hurriedly corrected himself.
“He was the one who grabbed my knife and held it to his own neck!”
“My brother is deaf and mute, but he isn’t intellectually disabled!” Fang Anyan’s tyrannosaurus mode switched on again as he roared at Wu Zhenfei. “Or do you think all of us are idiots? Who the hell randomly holds a knife to their own neck?!”
Wu Zhenfei let go of his head. No longer caring about fear, he walked two steps forward and pointed at Fang Anyu.
“He looked especially bad just now. I only asked him what was wrong. He smiled at me and even told me…”
Wu Zhenfei glanced at Jun Yueyue and said, “He said Yueyue would never like me and told me to give up! Then he suddenly took my knife, put it against his neck, and passed out. How the hell would I know what’s going on?!”
Jun Yueyue moved her lips, but before she could speak, Fang Anyan roared again.
“Bullshit! My brother told you to give up? He can’t even speak. How did he tell you?!”
“Besides, why would he tell you to give up? They’re already married. What do you think you can do if you don’t give up?!” Fang Anyan pointed at Wu Zhenfei. “If you dare have those crooked thoughts again, I’ll burn you to ashes!”
As Fang Anyan spoke, he raised his hand. Wu Zhenfei was so frightened he immediately hugged his head and squatted on the ground.
Ji Fei grabbed Fang Anyan’s wrist. Jun Yueyue also shouted, “Fang Anyan, stop going crazy!”
“I’m going crazy?” Fang Anyan turned and aimed his fury at Jun Yueyue. “You look pretty calm to me. My brother is like this, but I don’t see you caring much. Instead, you’re rushing to speak up for Wu Zhenfei, huh?”
“Are you fucking insane again?” Jun Yueyue cursed back at Fang Anyan. “What’s the use of saying this now? What do you want me to act like? Crying and screaming to the heavens? I’m with your brother every day, and this is also my first time seeing him like this. Tell me then, what exactly do you want me to act like?!”
“Stop arguing, you two,” Li Li stepped forward and said. “Lock Wu Zhenfei up. Once Fang Anyu wakes up, we can ask him, can’t we?”
Li Li pointed at Wu Zhenfei. “Fatty, tie him up. We’ll go back to the residence first.”
And so Wu Zhenfei was tied up and pressed onto the sightseeing cart.
Everyone quickly drove back. Ji Fei and Fang Anyan helped Jun Yueyue bring Fang Anyu back to the room. Fang Anyu slept deeply.
Several people gathered in the courtyard of the village secretary’s house and began discussing Fang Anyu’s condition.
They did not know what exactly was affecting him, whether it was caused by the mutation or whether he truly could not leave Jun Yueyue. In the end, they did not manage to come to a conclusion.
Then they began discussing how to clear the zombies inside the lodging hotel.
“Excluding the ones we killed today, there should still be about a hundred people inside that building,” Li Li said. “I’m more curious about what blocked those zombies.”
“Who knows?” Ji Fei said. “You and Anyan were close. Did you see anything blocking them? Glass or something like that?”
“I’m very sure there wasn’t,” Li Li said.
Fang Anyan also shook his head. “It was like they were blocked by some invisible force. But when Li Li and I were closing the doors, that force disappeared briefly halfway through. We were almost pushed open by the zombies. But that force came back very quickly, and that’s why we managed to close the doors.”
Li Li nodded.
Ji Fei also frowned slightly, unable to figure it out.
Jun Yueyue was silent for a moment, forcibly pulling her thoughts away from Fang Anyu. She said, “Could there be a second-level zombie inside that building?”
This was her guess.
But second-level zombies should not have formed at this time. However, she remembered Wu Zhenfei and the officer surnamed Zhang saying that they had encountered second-level zombies and had been chased into their large group by them. Jun Yueyue thought that the current situation could no longer be measured by the apocalypse she knew.
“But if there really is a second-level zombie inside, would it control the zombie group not to attack us?” Li Li said. “The zombie tide Wu Zhenfei and the others met earlier was controlled by a second-level zombie, wasn’t it? That whole truck of soldiers with guns died. I don’t think this possibility is very high.”
Jun Yueyue was also puzzled by this.
They discussed it for a long time, but no one connected the matter to Fang Anyu. After all, his mutation direction was a wood-type ability.
“Regardless of whether there’s a second-level zombie in that building or not, we still have to find a way to clear it,” Ji Fei said. “If we want to truly treat this resort as our base, then we have to guarantee absolute safety inside the base.”
Everyone nodded and continued discussing methods.
They were discussing whether they should simply drive a large truck inside and use the same method they had used against the wandering zombies in the courtyard earlier—killing zombies from the truck.
That way, even if there was a second-level zombie driving them and causing them to climb, they could still use the railing to slow them down. They would not have to face the zombies directly.
With more than ten people per group, and since zombies were still slow-moving after all, the zombies should not really be able to climb into the truck.
They were discussing how to divide the groups when a sound suddenly came from behind. Everyone turned to look and saw Fang Anyu leaning against the doorway.
He still looked very weak. His face was pale. The blood that had flowed from his mouth and nose had already been wiped away, and the wound on his neck had been bandaged. But his whole person still looked as if he could collapse to the ground at any moment.
“You’re awake!” Jun Yueyue quickly walked to Fang Anyu’s side and asked anxiously, “What happened? Why did you become like this again?!”
Fang Anyu reached out and gently touched Jun Yueyue’s head. He smiled at her, carrying a soothing meaning.
But Jun Yueyue was not comforted by him. Fang Anyu always being like this made her especially worried. Could it be that the mutation had brought some negative effect to his body?
Jun Yueyue helped Fang Anyu sit under the grape trellis as well. She went inside and brought out Fang Anyu’s phone. Before she could hand it to him, Fang Anyan asked, “Your condition wasn’t caused by Wu Zhenfei, right? Before you fainted, did he make a move against you or show malice toward you?”
Fang Anyu looked at Fang Anyan.
Toward this younger brother, because of the matter in the previous life where Fang Anyan had turned against him for a woman, Fang Anyu had always had a knot in his heart. But in this life, without Jun Yu caught between the two brothers, Fang Anyan instead cared about him especially much and always rushed to the front for everything.
In fact, even when he fainted just now, Fang Anyu knew everything that had happened.
At last, Fang Anyu was not stingy. He curved his lips and gave Fang Anyan a reassuring smile. Only then did he take the phone Jun Yueyue handed him and type:
No. Why are you asking that? When I started feeling unwell, he came back injured. He was very concerned about me and even supported me.
After everyone read this paragraph, their expressions varied.
Fang Anyan finally breathed a sigh of relief. But a strange feeling rose in Jun Yueyue’s heart.
It was as if Fang Anyu… seemed in a hurry to protect Wu Zhenfei.
In truth, Jun Yueyue had never believed Wu Zhenfei would be stupid enough to kill Fang Anyu. Leaving aside the fact that Fang Anyu’s younger brother Fang Anyan was the only powerful mutant in the entire base, almost all the leaders were Fang Anyu’s relatives. Who would be stupid enough to provoke him?
Moreover, Wu Zhenfei had grown up with Jun Yueyue. Even if the events of the previous life were already distant, Jun Yueyue understood Wu Zhenfei’s temperament and character.
It was already lucky that he had survived until now. Since childhood, he had been timid. He cowered and followed everything arranged by his family. The only rebellious thing he had ever done was liking her, and that was already something from the previous life.
In this life, Wu Zhenfei’s liking for her was not as intense as in the previous life. He had obeyed his family’s arrangement and married Ming Zhen. If not for this accident, he would have spent this life arguing noisily with Ming Zhen, but he absolutely would not have dared to cheat or be the one to take the initiative to propose divorce.
With such little courage, would he dare kill someone?
She had held doubts in her heart and did not show her stance. She had also allowed Li Li’s people to tie Wu Zhenfei up, because, as Li Li said, whether it was true or not could be resolved by asking Fang Anyu once he woke up.
Jun Yueyue unconditionally trusted Fang Anyu.
But Fang Anyu had woken up and immediately denied it so urgently, and his words carried such an obvious protective attitude. Jun Yueyue became a little uncertain…
Why would Fang Anyu protect Wu Zhenfei?
No matter from what angle, the two of them should not be able to get along amicably. When they were in the hotel and had not yet run outside, Jun Yueyue had not seen the two of them say even one sentence to each other.
Li Li had already sent someone to release Wu Zhenfei, but a small knot formed in Jun Yueyue’s heart.
She put herself in that position and thought about it. If she liked someone but could not have them, and then her love rival fainted in front of her… would she be bewitched into thinking that as long as this person died, the person she liked would look at her once?
Fang Anyu carefully observed Jun Yueyue’s expression. Seeing her conflicted look, he knew that this move of his had succeeded.
Of course, he would not insist on framing Wu Zhenfei after waking up. That would be the stupidest, lowest-level method.
Because the truth could come to light, but the knot in someone’s heart was not so easily removed.
Fang Anyu knew Wu Zhenfei still liked Jun Yueyue, and liked her very much. Because he always looked toward Jun Yueyue unconsciously, from all sorts of angles that were not easily noticed.
Even when his wife had died, and the people who came to pick him up had died, he had not shown much grief.
His whole heart, just like in the previous life, had grown entirely toward Jun Yueyue.
But so what?
Jun Yueyue was his.
Even now, whenever Fang Anyu thought of Jun Yueyue being pregnant with Wu Zhenfei’s child in the previous life, he still felt as if his internal organs were being burned by fire.
He would absolutely not allow even the slightest unclear entanglement between those two again!
Those nights when Jun Yueyue did not return home in the past had become a demon in Fang Anyu’s heart.
This matter passed just like that.
In the end, Fang Anyu only said that he did not know why he became weak either. He said that being a little closer to Jun Yueyue made him feel much more comfortable, then hugged Jun Yueyue in front of everyone.
For the time being, the others could not discuss any other good solution, so they returned to their own homes.
Jun Yueyue supported Fang Anyu back into the house and asked him a couple more questions. Fang Anyu still had the same attitude as before. The protective tone in his words made Jun Yueyue feel uncomfortable.
It felt as if there was something between Fang Anyu and Wu Zhenfei that no one else knew about. The key was that Jun Yueyue could not ask about it, which made it very frustrating.
But this emotion did not last long.
When she started cooking, Fang Anyu, with such a weak face, diligently helped her, circling around her. Jun Yueyue’s pleasant emotions quickly overpowered that slight discomfort.
The two of them ate a beautiful meal. It was a home-style meal made by Jun Yueyue. Fang Anyu had washed the vegetables, and he had also cut some of them. Their shapes were not very pretty, but one could tell he had cut them with great care. The thickness was mostly even.
That afternoon, when it was time to deal with zombie corpses as usual, Jun Yueyue did not follow. She stayed at home with Fang Anyu, watching him recover bit by bit. The leaves on his head began turning green again, and she finally relaxed slightly.
In the evening, when everyone returned after dealing with the corpses and saw Fang Anyu pressed against Jun Yueyue’s side, his whole person fresh and tender again like a nourished seedling, they had no choice but to believe his sour-sounding explanation.
He could not be away from Jun Yueyue by even half a step. Otherwise, he would be like a drought-stricken seedling and wither.
Over the next two days, everyone prepared tools for dealing with the zombies at the lodging hotel. They also divided teams and planned how the vehicles would enter, where they would stop after entering, how to keep the zombies trapped in the courtyard and prevent them from running out, and so on.
Everyone who could fight, regardless of whether they were men or women, had voluntarily signed up. Because the distribution of food had already started following the principle of more work, more gain. Those who went out to kill zombies received the most. Next were those who stayed behind to prepare food, clean, manage things, take care of children, and so on.
In any case, no one could get something for nothing. This was an important condition for maintaining the base long-term and keeping it stable.
Of course, this was only an initial model. After the apocalypse, the operation of a base involved many things. In the previous life, Li Li had done a very good job. He was the leader of the largest base Jun Yueyue knew of after the apocalypse. In this life, all these trivial matters were also handed to Li Li.
At first, Li Li was so busy that he cursed every day. He had to go out to kill zombies, and when he returned at noon, he could not even rest before having to manage all these petty matters. For a time, he was extremely irritable. Fortunately, Jun Yu, who was idle at home, rescued him.
This time, Li Li gained an especially satisfying and beautiful housekeeper.
Jun Yu was responsible for distributing supplies every day. With her unique affinity, she easily resolved the frustration of people who became irritable because they received fewer supplies.
Everyone cooperated and divided the work. Everything was moving in an orderly direction.
When they had fully prepared the weapons and finalised the plan, it was two days later.
They had prepared corresponding emergency plans. If the zombies became too frenzied, or if a second-level zombie controlled them and caused them to attack the people in one vehicle as a group instead of dispersing, what should they do?
Or if, after they let the zombies out of the building, the zombies did not attack the people in the trucks but ran outward instead, what should they do?
They imagined all these possibilities and made corresponding preparations.
They drove two trucks, carrying the newly made fencing that was high enough to block zombies, and entered the courtyard through the back gate of the lodging hotel.
This time, Fang Anyu came too. He sat inside the vehicle. Jun Yueyue drove, and he sat beside her.
“In a bit, I’ll go to the back. This distance should be fine, right?” Jun Yueyue said. “If you feel so uncomfortable you can’t bear it, honk the horn. You can’t come with me into the truck. That would be far too dangerous.”
Fang Anyu nodded.
He closed his eyes and sensed for a moment. There were even more zombies gathered at the stairwell entrance than that day. They had probably been driven by the second-level zombie. The zombies that had originally been scattered everywhere had already run down.
Fang Anyu raised his head and looked upstairs.
That second-level zombie was still on the rooftop. From afar, he looked like a normal person, tilting his head slightly as he looked toward them, as if curious about what such a large formation was planning to do.
Just as Jun Yueyue was about to get out, Fang Anyu grabbed her hand and brought it to his lips to kiss it. His eyes stared at her without shifting.
The two had been together for a long time now. They had some tacit understanding. Without words, Jun Yueyue could understand from Fang Anyu’s eyes what he wanted to say.
Be careful.
Jun Yueyue nodded and also held Fang Anyu’s hand to her lips, kissing it.
“Don’t get out of the vehicle. If you’re uncomfortable, don’t endure it. Honk the horn, and I’ll come down to find you.” No matter how many zombies were outside.
Fang Anyu hooked his arm around Jun Yueyue’s neck again and kissed her forehead before finally letting her go.
Jun Yueyue jumped onto the rear truck with everyone else. Holding the iron pipe with the dagger tied to it, she prepared to enter battle.
The person opening the building door was Fang Anyan.
His current speed and strength had already completely exceeded the limits of ordinary humans. Moreover, because Fang Anyan had frequently used his fire ability to burn corpses, the fireballs he could release were now getting bigger and bigger.
Jun Yueyue was so envious she could die. But in the base, aside from him and Fang Anyu, not a single other person had mutated…
Even Li Li showed no signs of movement at all.
However, the only thing that gave Jun Yueyue a tiny bit of psychological comfort was that her strength was much greater than that of normal girls, and her speed also seemed a little faster.
But Jun Yueyue was already close to the time point when she should have mutated, yet her body did not ache the way it had last time… This made her panic.
If she did not mutate, then even if her strength and speed were slightly higher now, in the apocalypse, she would still be a weak chicken.
They had just started implementing the more work, more gain system. If, later in the apocalypse, the base did not have enough food, then even if she scrubbed the whole base clean, she might not earn two loaves of bread. If she used this little chick-like physique to run missions outside with others, she would absolutely die out there.
Then how would she protect Fang Anyu?
Something was wrong with Fang Anyu’s ability, and he still could not be too far away from her.
If Fang Anyu left the base with her, then the ending for the two of them would probably be dying together outside the base…
That was too miserable.
Her rich experience dealing with zombies was still less practical than having powerful strength herself!
Jun Yueyue listened to the zombie howls coming from the entrance of the building. Fang Anyan had already pulled out the iron frame wedging the door and was quickly running back toward the truck.
Behind him was a tide of zombies surging toward them with a rushing sound—
This time, there was no invisible barrier?!
Jun Yueyue and the others swiftly entered combat mode.
The wave of zombies arrived beside the truck after Fang Anyan. They began clawing at the railing behind the truck, howling and shaking it. But unlike what they had imagined, they did not climb upward along the railing.
This was great!
Everyone focused on killing the zombies.
Inside the vehicle, Fang Anyu focused all his control entirely on dealing with the second-level zombie upstairs.
Probably because he had exhausted himself before, Fang Anyu clearly felt that the power which had recovered this time had greatly increased.
He no longer cared about the zombies attacking the truck. Instead, he targeted only the second-level zombie upstairs. He easily controlled that zombie, not only cutting off its command over the zombie group, but even controlling its body.
Fang Anyu stared at the zombie on the rooftop, controlling it to raise an arm for a while, then turn its head. After a while, it climbed up and stood at the edge of the top-floor railing.
Fang Anyu thought, Climb over the railing.
That zombie really climbed over the railing and stood unsteadily on the corner outside it.
Everyone was still fighting the howling zombies. No one noticed that on the rooftop in the distance, there was a zombie repeatedly hovering at the edge of jumping off the building.
After Fang Anyu felt that he could control its behaviour and movements with ease, he played with it for a while. Once he was done playing, he turned back and glanced through the small rear window of the vehicle. He saw Jun Yueyue still constantly swinging that iron rod and fighting.
He turned his head back and looked at the zombie on the rooftop. In his heart, he thought:
Jump down.
The second-level zombie that could command other zombies jumped straight down from the rooftop.
It was true that zombies did not care about injuries. As long as their skulls were not cracked open, they would not die. But they were still flesh and blood bodies. Legs would break if they should break. Bones would fracture if they should fracture. If they jumped from such a high building, they would still shatter into pieces.
Like an egg smashed on the ground, the sound of the human body hitting the earth was drowned out by the zombies’ howls. No one noticed that the second-level zombie’s head had been smashed away from its body. It rolled once across the ground, and from the split in its skull, a mass of red-and-white fluid flowed out.
It was completely dead.
Fang Anyu changed his pale pupils back to black and leaned leisurely inside the vehicle, slightly narrowing his eyes. In truth, he felt a little unhappy.
No matter what, he was the master of this world. Forget the fact that he could not control this world. His current ability was truly too weak. With only one second-level zombie and such a small group of zombies gathered together, last time they had caused him to suffer so much. Although this time he could control the second-level zombie, if he had to control all of them at once, he would definitely be exhausted again.
However, after confirming Jun Yueyue and the others were not in danger, Fang Anyu did not plan to interfere with everyone fighting the zombies.
After all, they needed to become familiar with the true abilities of zombies. Besides, with the railing of the large truck between them, and after he had dealt with the second-level zombie that could command the horde, they were not in much danger.
His control over the zombies these past few days had made everyone feel that fighting zombies was easy. That was only to make them stop being afraid, in case some people wanted to retreat the moment they started.
Now that they had killed slow-moving zombies for many days, even ordinary women had already eliminated their fear of zombies. This way, when they faced real zombies, they would quickly adapt.
Fang Anyu leaned against the seat and turned his head to glance at a zombie pressing against the vehicle window and staring at him.
Half of this person’s face had been gnawed away, exposing bright red bone. Because of the decay over the past few days, the face was truly too tragic to look at.
So ugly.
Fang Anyu disliked it inwardly. Thinking that when he released his ability, his eyes would also turn grey-white like this zombie’s, he felt uncomfortable.
Fang Anyu’s face went cold. He leaned slightly closer to the window. The zombie seemed to sense something and, as if suddenly frightened, retreated several steps in a row. It tripped over a corpse of its own kind and fell.
Then, after howling twice and getting up, it no longer dared approach the vehicle. Instead, it ran to the back of the truck and joined the other zombies in clawing at the railing.
Although Jun Yueyue and the others’ battle was not dangerous, it was still a genuine hard fight.
They did not have many people. Including those injured and those unable to fight who remained in the base, after splitting into two groups, each truck had only about ten people.
But there were more than a hundred zombies outside. They all clung to the truck. Fortunately, they did not climb upward. But their heads swayed back and forth, their arms also waved around, and they kept making piercing howls. Those who had killed fewer zombies and lacked accuracy easily missed, stabbing the railing beside them instead.
If they did not truly pierce the head, the zombies would not die. If they got too close, blood could easily splash onto them. Blood splashing onto exposed skin was not much of a problem, but if blood splashed onto a wound, they would become infected. So this time, they did not kill easily.
But at last, near noon, some zombies were pressed to the ground by their own kind, while others were not fully dead and occasionally howled. At least they had all been knocked down.
To prevent being bitten by not-quite-dead zombies when jumping off the truck, everyone climbed along the railing to the roof of the truck, then descended from the front hood.
After finishing off all the half-dead zombies on the ground again, everyone finally gathered exhaustedly in front of the vehicle, checking one another for injuries.
One unlucky person said that when she was finishing off a zombie, she had taken off the cloth covering her face, and zombie blood had splashed onto the corner of her mouth. She had already spat saliva for a long time, until her lips were dry. Her whole person looked dispirited and despairing.
When everyone tied her up, she looked as if she was truly about to cry.
“My daughter… my daughter is still at school. You said after clearing everything, you’d go out and help us find our families… But what if I turn into a zombie?”
Jun Yueyue patted her shoulder to comfort her. “You might not become infected. As long as you don’t fall ill within two hours, you won’t be infected. Didn’t you say it only splashed on the corner of your mouth?”
This person was a woman in her forties named Xu Zhou. She was a survivor they had found nearby. When they first met her, she had been wearing a very floaty dress with a bit of Chinese style, refined and gentle, with glasses. But during this period, she had taken off her glasses, and in about half a month, that refined aura had almost been worn away. When killing zombies, she was especially active.
That was because people in the base had said that as long as all the zombies in the resort were cleared out, this place would become their base. After that, they would begin going outside to rescue people, starting with the relatives of those in the base.
This lodging hotel was the final area to be cleared. If she truly mutated at this moment, anyone would collapse.
Jun Yueyue’s comfort did not have much effect. After being tied up, Xu Zhou fell silent for a while, then began begging everyone. She begged them to record her home address and the addresses of her daughter’s playmates, hoping that even if she mutated, they would still go rescue her daughter.
They had fought side by side for so many days. Everyone’s impression of her was good.
After Jun Yueyue recorded everything she said, Xu Zhou thanked everyone repeatedly, then fell silent again.
The two large trucks drove away. Transporting the corpses all over the ground somewhere else was too troublesome, so they gathered them together and burned them on the spot.
Fang Anyan threw a cluster of fireballs over. Thick smoke immediately rose into the sky. The stench of rot, blood, and burning spread.
Fortunately, there was not much wind at the moment. Most of the smoke rushed straight upward. There was also nothing flammable nearby. Everyone temporarily did not enter the building to sweep the remaining zombies. Instead, they closed the doors again, left by vehicle, and used the fences they had brought to block the entrance.
Everyone was exhausted from the morning’s work.
In the vehicle, Jun Yueyue saw that Fang Anyu was safe and sound. Even though she was especially tired, her mood uncontrollably improved.
After returning to their place, Jun Yueyue endured the whole way without approaching Fang Anyu. The first thing she did was wash up. After coming out clean, she directly threw herself into Fang Anyu’s arms.
Fang Anyu could not cook anything too complicated either, but he had already boiled noodles in the small pot. Holding Jun Yueyue, he spun her halfway around the room. Then the two sat on the heated bed, facing each other beside the small table, and began eating noodles.
“How do you feel today?” Jun Yueyue asked Fang Anyu while eating. “Are you really not uncomfortable anywhere?”
Fang Anyu first nodded, then shook his head.
Jun Yueyue paused in confusion.
He typed on his phone:
You eat first. After you finish, I’ll tell you where I feel uncomfortable.
At first, Jun Yueyue did not think much of it. She thought that after watching zombies being killed all morning, he was physically uncomfortable and wanted to talk to her about that, so she continued eating noodles.
But as she ate, she lifted her head and saw Fang Anyu’s expression. Suddenly, Jun Yueyue realised exactly where he meant he felt uncomfortable.
Jun Yueyue almost choked noodles into her windpipe. After coughing twice, she kicked Fang Anyu under the small table.
Fang Anyu caught her foot.
When Jun Yueyue tried to pull it back, he did not let go. As for what the rest of the noodles tasted like, because her foot was being held and played with, all of Jun Yueyue’s senses were used to resist him, so she did not really know.
After they finished eating, the small table was moved away.
Logically speaking, there were no activities in the afternoon. They all needed rest. The corpses had already been dealt with on-site, so there was no need to go out again.
So while Fang Anyu watched Jun Yueyue wash the dishes in the kitchen, he bolted the door. When Jun Yueyue finished washing and turned around, she looked at him somewhat helplessly.
“It isn’t even dark yet. What are you doing?” Jun Yueyue said. “Honestly, you… won’t you let me rest?”
Fang Anyu’s expression was pure and innocent. He typed a few words and handed them over, making Jun Yueyue’s face turn red.
I’ll give you a full-body massage in a bit, then give you an injection. It’ll work better than resting.
Jun Yueyue swore she had never seen anyone like Fang Anyu.
When you first got together with him, he was as white as a sheet of paper, as if whatever you painted on him, he would present back to you. No one could dislike that feeling.
But after spending time with him, you would realise he was not only a white sheet of paper. His seemingly pure white surface, the fine grain, the colours refracted under sunlight—all of it was dazzling.
At least Jun Yueyue had never seen someone who could say such dirty words with such an innocent expression. Most importantly, his eyes remained as clear as ever, without even the slightest hint of lust.
Yet this made it even more seductive.
Jun Yueyue shook the water from her hands.
When Fang Anyu lifted her up and carried her, she could not help laughing and asked, “Where on earth did you learn all this messy nonsense?!”
Fang Anyu did not answer. He only held Jun Yueyue and, with a clever use of force, threw her onto the heated bed.
Jun Yueyue fell onto the soft quilt, instantly feeling a little dazed.
The two embraced. Their breaths tangled. Just this closeness alone already made Jun Yueyue lift her head slightly. Fang Anyu’s lips landed perfectly on her chin.
This was body memory formed after doing it countless times.
Jun Yueyue closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around Fang Anyu’s neck, preparing to experience the full-body massage he had mentioned…
But this beautiful atmosphere, the feeling of an arrow already on the string and about to be released, was interrupted by an extremely abrupt knock at the door.
