MDMSC Chapter 61

Seducing You

Jun Yueyue felt she must truly be having the worst luck imaginable, to have Fang Anyu stumble across such a scene at such an absurdly coincidental, melodramatic moment.

Wu Zhenfei had always been especially proper in front of her. He simply did not have the nerve to do anything out of line. Deep down, there was even a kind of gentlemanly integrity in him. That was why, in her previous life, whenever Jun Yueyue got drunk, she would not even contact her girlfriends. Instead, she would contact Wu Zhenfei.

He would never take advantage of someone in a vulnerable situation or force anyone into something excessive.

So this kiss was something Jun Yueyue would never have imagined, even if someone had beaten her to death.

Because she had not imagined it, she had not managed to dodge in time. And because she had not dodged, standing there like this made it look as if she was allowing Wu Zhenfei’s intimacy.

Of all the rotten luck in the world, how had Fang Anyu happened to see it at this exact moment?

If Jun Yueyue had not just seen Fang Anyu already asleep earlier, and if Wu Zhenfei were not the type who, at most, would lose control of his feelings but would never deliberately set her up, she would have suspected that someone had plotted against her.

Jun Yueyue reacted quickly. She shoved Wu Zhenfei hard on the shoulder, pulling distance between them.

That shove, delivered in panic, was not an ordinary shove. Wu Zhenfei was pushed back several stumbling steps and crashed straight into the climbing roses.

For a long time afterward, whenever Jun Yueyue thought back to what happened next, she still felt a chill of lingering fear.

Wu Zhenfei had not even managed to use the climbing frame to steady himself when the previously quiet vines suddenly began to move as if alive. They flowed rapidly up along Wu Zhenfei’s arm. Shocked, he reached out to tear them away, but the flower vines, which had originally seemed so fragile they would snap at the slightest bend, were now as though infused with some kind of magic. Even when Wu Zhenfei used his mutated strength ability, he could not tear them apart. In an instant, they wrapped around his entire body and bound him firmly to the climbing frame.

Everything happened almost instantly. Wu Zhenfei had not even had time to shout before the vines had already spread over his face and sealed his mouth.

The dense little thorns scratched all over him, making him ache and itch everywhere. In that short span of time, Jun Yueyue had already run to Fang Anyu’s side. She grabbed his hand and said, “It’s not what you think. Don’t misunderstand. I was planning to go stay overnight at Xuzhou and Yueya’s place. I only ran into him on the way!”

Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue, then at Wu Zhenfei. His eyes were rarely this cold. His lips were pressed together, and he had no intention of communicating with Jun Yueyue. He only pushed her hand away, lifted his hand toward Wu Zhenfei, and gently clenched it.

Wu Zhenfei immediately cried out, but no sound came out. It was all muffled in his throat. A large rose had forced its way into his mouth, blocking it so that all he could do was whimper.

The vines binding him tightened, and their thorns instantly grew several times longer, pressing close against Wu Zhenfei and embedding into his skin.

The lighting was not very bright. Jun Yueyue could not see what silent changes were happening beneath the cover of the vine leaves, but she saw Wu Zhenfei’s face twist in pain. At once, she could no longer care about anything else and hurriedly reached out to hug Fang Anyu.

“Darling, don’t be like this. You’re the only one in my heart. This is a misunderstanding,” Jun Yueyue said. “Don’t…”

A sudden clap of thunder split the sky, cutting off the rest of Jun Yueyue’s words. The sky once again filled with spiderweb-like lightning. This meant Fang Anyu was very unhappy.

However, Fang Anyu lowered his hand and turned to look at Jun Yueyue. He did not break free from her. He waited for her explanation.

Jun Yueyue opened her mouth and said, “I was just passing by. I saw him talking to Jiaojiao. That girl was pestering him. You know her, the one who pushed you near the hotel revolving door at the start… I’ve disliked him since we were young. He knows that. Today he just… lost his mind. I promise he absolutely won’t dare do it again!”

Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue. The expression on his face was difficult to describe. If Fang Anyan had once been one of Jun Yueyue’s mistakes, then Wu Zhenfei was a dead knot in Fang Anyu’s heart.

He had already done his best to ignore him. He tried his best not to think about him, not to care about the things from their previous life. But those memories were far too vivid. Every time Wu Zhenfei drove up to the gate to pick Jun Yueyue up and take her out to fool around, Fang Anyu would stand upstairs and look down. He would feel like something described in a book he had once read.

He was an evil dragon imprisoned in a high tower. Jun Yueyue was the princess captured by the dragon and brought into the tower. Wu Zhenfei was the prince who came to rescue her.

And he did not even need the prince to make a move. He had already lost completely.

In their previous life, Jun Yueyue and Wu Zhenfei had even had a child…

Fang Anyu had always believed that this was the key reason Jun Yueyue had refused to stay by his side even until death. It was also the main reason he still felt so insecure now.

He was afraid.

And the more he feared something, the more it came for him.

The scene he had seen just now was something Fang Anyu had seen countless times before, in his nightmares and in his own imagination.

How could he not go mad?

If Jun Yueyue chose Wu Zhenfei again, what was he supposed to do?

A fine drizzle began to fall. Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue’s anxious expression on Wu Zhenfei’s behalf and controlled the vines to release him.

Wu Zhenfei collapsed to the ground, grimacing. He lifted his hand and saw the places where the rose thorns had pierced him rapidly heal and disappear. While he was shocked by Fang Anyu’s ability, he also felt as if too much of his physical strength had been drained away. He could not even stand.

Only the roses on the vines, secretly retreating, bloomed even more vividly, as if they had drunk their fill of blood.

When Jun Yueyue saw Fang Anyu release Wu Zhenfei, she immediately breathed a sigh of relief. This was Fang Anyu’s world. If he really wanted Wu Zhenfei dead, it would be far too easy.

Fang Anyu lowered his eyes. He did not look at Jun Yueyue again and turned to walk back the way he had come.

He was not as good as Jun Yueyue imagined. He was not that pure or kind. He was also human. He had selfish desires. He wanted Wu Zhenfei to disappear from before his eyes and from Jun Yueyue’s side. That thought had begun in the previous world.

Back then, he had been unable to do it. Now, he could do it easily, but he did not dare.

He did not dare gamble. He did not know how much weight Wu Zhenfei carried in Jun Yueyue’s heart. If he hurt him, would Jun Yueyue ignore him from then on?

So Fang Anyu could only restrain the dark thoughts in his heart. He did not even dare meet Jun Yueyue’s eyes, afraid that the negative emotions in his gaze would be exposed. Then he would no longer be “kind,” and Jun Yueyue would stop liking him.

Seeing that Fang Anyu had already left, Jun Yueyue exchanged one glance with Wu Zhenfei, who was lying on the ground and had only just managed to lift his head. She did not help him up. Instead, she quickly chased after Fang Anyu.

Only then did she notice that he had not even put on shoes. His pale, slender feet were stepping on the filthy ground. The light rain dampened his hair, and under the lamplight, it gave him a strange, hazy beauty.

“Wait for me. Don’t be angry with me anymore.” Jun Yueyue first tried to hold Fang Anyu’s wrist. Seeing that he did not resist, she then held his hand.

Fang Anyu’s palm was usually warm, but now it was a little cold. Jun Yueyue followed behind him. Seeing that he did not pull away, she relaxed slightly, thinking he had calmed down.

But very quickly, she realized she was too naïve.

No matter how good Fang Anyu was at suppressing himself, he could not deceive himself. The light rain outside quickly turned into a torrential downpour. Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled without stop. The cracks of thunder came closer and closer each time, frightening Jun Yueyue so much that she kept jumping. She even felt that in the next moment, the thunder would strike right down on her head.

The two of them entered the house one after the other, temporarily cutting off the wind and rain. But both of them were soaked through. Jun Yueyue found clothes to change Fang Anyu into, only to discover that Fang Anyu had already lain down.

Jun Yueyue did not know whether to laugh or cry as she glanced outside, where the lightning lit everything up as bright as day. When Fang Anyu was normally in a stable mood, he actually would not affect the weather. For it to suddenly become like this now, it was obvious that this little ancestor had not calmed down at all. In fact, it had become even worse.

She changed out of her own wet clothes, placed the clothes she had found for Fang Anyu to one side, then climbed onto the kang, pulled open Fang Anyu’s quilt, and began coaxing him.

Fang Anyu used to be very easy to coax. Sometimes Jun Yueyue did not even need to coax him, and he would recover on his own. But ever since he remembered the previous life, perhaps because it was the accumulation of two lifetimes together, both his temper and his pettiness had grown. He was no longer so easy to fool.

Jun Yueyue called him baby and hugged him from behind, trying to turn him around. But Fang Anyu refused to turn. At first, he lay on his side. Later, he simply buried his head down and refused to lift it no matter what.

Outside, the rain was falling as if the heavens had sprung a leak. Jun Yueyue could no longer even hear the sound of individual raindrops. It sounded as though several dozen people were directly blasting the outside with fire hoses.

The problem was very serious!

Seeing that the situation was not good, Jun Yueyue quickly used brute force and flipped Fang Anyu over entirely.

“Baby, he really just lost his mind. Nothing could possibly happen between me and him. My heart is full of you… You… you’re crying?”

Jun Yueyue hugged Fang Anyu and sat up, but Fang Anyu’s face was still buried in his arms. Both his hands were holding his own head, refusing to let go. Jun Yueyue touched his chin and felt dampness. Only then did she realize he was crying.

“Aiyou…” Jun Yueyue reached out to pull Fang Anyu’s arms away, but he still refused to lower them. So she simply hugged him into her arms like that. “Don’t cry, don’t cry. I was wrong, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gone to stay at someone else’s place. I promise that if you get angry again and won’t let me inside, even if it’s the coldest days of winter, I’ll stay outside and absolutely won’t leave. Alright, alright, don’t cry…”

Jun Yueyue held Fang Anyu and coaxed him. But after coaxing him for a while, not only did things outside fail to improve, they grew even worse. Jun Yueyue heard something make a loud crash, and then the lights inside the room went out completely.

The power was cut.

Now Jun Yueyue really did not know what to do. She sighed and held Fang Anyu as she asked, “Why don’t you tell me what you want? Ancestor, please stop crying. The base will be destroyed soon.”

Jun Yueyue watched as even the solar-powered streetlights went out. She did not know if the wind had torn down the wiring.

If Fang Anyu lost control for a while longer, it really would cause immeasurable damage. More importantly, this was no longer before the apocalypse, when they could just find repair workers. They still did not know how to fix the electricity here. If more things broke, it would be extremely troublesome.

Besides, she really did feel heartache. How long had it been since Fang Anyu had cried? For him to cry this hard this time, how upset must he be?

“Tell me, ancestor. Whatever you say, I’ll do it. I’ll go along with you. Don’t cry anymore. Tomorrow I’ll ask for leave and stay with you, alright? I won’t go to training. I’ll accompany you to the back mountain. Didn’t you want to go there to play?” Jun Yueyue whispered by Fang Anyu’s ear.

The effect was simply immediate. The howling wind outside suddenly quieted down a lot, but the rain was still falling madly.

Fang Anyu sobbed once. After hearing Jun Yueyue’s words, he finally loosened the arms holding his head. Like a child, he first peeked at Jun Yueyue’s expression through the gap between his arms. Seeing that she was not lying to him, he finally let go.

Lightning shone in through the window. Jun Yueyue saw that his eyes were red from crying, and her heart softened into a puddle.

Fang Anyu somehow found his phone and typed:

Send him out of the base.

The previous moment, Jun Yueyue had been looking at his pitiful state and had been prepared to agree no matter what kind of demand he made, no matter how difficult. But when she saw this sentence, she immediately pressed her lips together.

Fang Anyu had only been testing her. As soon as he saw Jun Yueyue press her lips together, his heart went cold.

She really still had lingering feelings for Wu Zhenfei!

In that instant, Fang Anyu truly wavered over whether he should simply drain Wu Zhenfei dry.

Yes, Wu Zhenfei was still lying on the ground. He had no strength at all. The heavy rain battered him like a little rag. He wanted to escape the range of the flower frame, because every now and then, he could feel flowers approaching him, observing him like people.

It was too terrifying. What kind of monster was Fang Anyu?

At this moment, Fang Anyu was looking at Jun Yueyue with a face full of disappointment while listening to her say, “Anyu, can we change it to something else? This won’t do. I promise Wu Zhenfei will never dare provoke me again, and he definitely won’t dare provoke you. But he is still my friend. Right now, second-level zombies are everywhere outside. You’ve been out there. You know.”

“His strength-type mutation isn’t enough for him to survive outside,” Jun Yueyue said. “We can’t do that. I promise I’ll stay far, far away from him from now on, alright?”

Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue and blinked once. Tears rolled down his face and landed on the phone screen. His whole face was red from crying.

He was truly heartbroken. She cared so much about Wu Zhenfei. If her old feelings for him rekindled, Fang Anyu would be abandoned again.

“Anyu.” Jun Yueyue reached out to wipe his tears, but he dodged her. Fang Anyu retreated a little, shrinking into the corner between the kang cabinet and the wall. He hugged his knees with both arms and buried his head.

He did not know what to do. He was terrified, but he did not dare test her again. He was afraid Jun Yueyue would not choose him, just like in their previous life…

Jun Yueyue looked at Fang Anyu shrinking back and burying his head in his knees. It was an extremely resistant posture. Her heart felt as if it were being cut by a blunt knife.

She moved closer, grabbed his hand, and said quietly, “Anyu, can we change it to something else? Don’t be like this. He is still my friend.”

Fang Anyu lifted his eyes to look at her, took the phone, and typed:

Is he only your friend? Would a friend kiss you? You’re protecting him so much. Do you still like him? Then what about me? Are you going to abandon me again?

Fang Anyu regretted typing these words as soon as he asked them. His shoulders trembled hard. He wanted to take the phone back and delete them, but Jun Yueyue had already finished reading.

Jun Yueyue explained helplessly, “What are you talking about? He has always just been my friend. Like him my ass. How could I abandon you…”

Thinking that in the previous life, she had indeed abandoned Fang Anyu, she immediately corrected herself. “I won’t abandon you. I really won’t.”

Fang Anyu held the phone and lowered his head in silence for a while. His face and neck had turned red from crying. In the end, as if giving up on himself, he typed:

If you… if you still like him and can’t bear to let him go, it’s fine. But don’t stop wanting me. I can be your lover.

When Fang Anyu held up that sentence for Jun Yueyue to see, the wind and rain outside stopped without a sound.

He had no way to be decisive. In truth, he had never changed. As long as there was even the slightest possibility of Jun Yueyue leaving him, he would be terrified day and night. The memories of their previous life were too deep. After Jun Yueyue died, that long, painful longing was something he could not endure for even one minute.

He would rather take one step back. Even if he had to exist as someone who could not be seen in public, he still wanted to stay by Jun Yueyue’s side.

Because other than Jun Yueyue, in his long yet short two lifetimes, there had been no one else. He had never loved anyone else.

He would not change. He found it very difficult to accept new things. Before Jun Yueyue appeared, for more than ten years, he had drunk water at the same temperature every day and worn clothes in the same style.

In truth, he was stupid, forgetful, and cowardly. Even when it came to eating, he found it hard to control himself. He was just like those people who had scolded him when he was young had said: a fool. No one had ever treated him like a normal person.

Only Jun Yueyue had.

If even she did not want him, then he could only be the monster living alone in the high tower. He was not even an evil dragon. He could not fly, and he did not know how to plunder. All his bared fangs and brandished claws were actually illusions, false shadows reflected on a wall.

So even with those memories from before, he was still like the person she had first met. In order to cut his losses in time, he offered up his trembling, sincere heart with both hands. Even if he could only receive half of Jun Yueyue’s love, it was still better than losing all of it.

After Jun Yueyue read it, she was a little stunned.

She had taught Fang Anyu for so long that when you liked someone, you had to monopolize all of them. From the looks of it, she had taught him for nothing.

But actually, if Wu Zhenfei had asked why, when he and Fang Anyu were somewhat similar types, she still would not choose him—

This was the answer.

Jun Yueyue looked at Fang Anyu and reached out to hold his slightly trembling arm.

This was the reason she had liked Fang Anyu in both lifetimes.

His love was too pure.

Some people said that loving someone meant not allowing any impurities to mix in. Only that could be called pure. But only after being loved by Fang Anyu would one understand what truly pure love was.

For the sake of loving you, he could accept everything about you, including accepting another person. Although in everyone else’s eyes, that kind of feeling was twisted, abnormal, and lacking in self, no one who had been loved like this could still go on to love someone else.

He had offered himself up. He had also cut off Jun Yueyue’s path to liking anyone else.

In Jun Yueyue’s view, this was not right. But she could not deny that her heart moved fiercely because of it.

So Jun Yueyue laughed. She truly could not help laughing. “No, why are you so convinced that I like Wu Zhenfei?”

After completely understanding the knot in his heart, Jun Yueyue was no longer anxious. She sat down across from Fang Anyu, held his hand, and asked him, “Just now, he kissed me. I didn’t kiss him. He kissed me because I failed to dodge in time. How did you decide from that that I like him? Hm?”

Fang Anyu miserably picked up his phone and typed with some difficulty:

You liked him in the previous life. You even had his child.

After Jun Yueyue read it, she finally understood where the root of tonight’s chaos lay. But she could not help laughing until her whole body trembled. She pressed her forehead against Fang Anyu’s knee and kept laughing until tears streamed down her face. Only then did she lift her eyes, take a deep breath, touch Fang Anyu’s face, and say in a nasal voice, “That child was yours.”

Jun Yueyue choked a little and met Fang Anyu’s frozen eyes. She was smiling, but her tears kept disobediently falling. “Are you really stupid?”

She pushed Fang Anyu’s shoulder. “Have you never counted? I got pregnant after being intimate with you. Wu Zhenfei and I have been completely innocent in both lifetimes. The bit you saw when he kissed me was already the most excessive thing that has ever happened.”

Fang Anyu had one hand braced behind him. Whatever posture Jun Yueyue pushed him into, he stayed in that posture. His eyes did not move. His breathing also stopped. He was stiff there like a lifeless doll.

“I…” Jun Yueyue wiped away her tears. “I didn’t dare be with you, so I said it was his. I… I’m sorry.”

As Jun Yueyue spoke, she moved forward and hugged Fang Anyu. “I’m sorry… At that time, things between us, and with your younger brother too, had become too intense. I had treated you like that. I knew you hated me. I didn’t dare, and I didn’t deserve to be with you. That was why I chose to leave. I wanted to give birth to the child, but… I’m sorry.”

Fang Anyu remained stiff. He held his breath until he almost suffocated himself before finally inhaling sharply. After a bout of heart-wrenching coughing, he hugged Jun Yueyue tightly.

Separated by an entire lifetime, the two of them finally cleared up the misunderstanding.

Both little ones cried very hard, but stars appeared in the night sky outside.

Wu Zhenfei, collapsed beside the flower frame, finally recovered a bit of strength. He struggled to climb up and dragged his heavy steps away, dripping like a water ghost and sneezing every three steps as he went home.

Inside the room, the two people cried until their eyes were red and swollen, until they could barely breathe, and until their bones hurt from holding each other so tightly. Only then did they finally let go.

Jun Yueyue alternated between crying and laughing as she rambled on about everything she had wanted to say in the previous life.

“Afterward, I always liked you. I only liked you.”

Jun Yueyue held Fang Anyu’s face. There was no electricity now, and the only light in the room came faintly from the distant streetlights outside. Jun Yueyue said, “I love you, Anyu. Stop overthinking. I originally thought I would first go abroad, give birth to the child, and when he grew a little older, I would bring him back to find you. Even if you hated me, you’re so softhearted. You definitely would have forgiven me.”

Jun Yueyue said, “At the very end, the person I was thinking of was also you. Before I slept with you, I had already fallen in love with you. I wasn’t trying to use you, and I didn’t have to have the Jun family. I just couldn’t help myself.”

Even now, Jun Yueyue still remembered that day when Fang Anyu stood at the staircase waiting for her. The words written in the little notebook he had prepared—every single one—had been slightly damp. She did not know how long he had been clutching that notebook in his hand. Every word had struck heavily against Jun Yueyue’s defenses and shattered them.

If it were not for Fang Anyu, Jun Yueyue would have found it hard to believe that there were some people who, once encountered, would absolutely pull you in so deeply you could not escape.

Even she herself had not dared believe it. She had liked Fang Anyan for so many years since school, had even married Fang Anyu in order to get closer to Fang Anyan. Yet in less than two months, with only a handful of encounters, those years of chasing someone else had been overturned. She had transferred her affections so quickly.

At the time, even Jun Yueyue herself had not believed it.

That life had been too chaotic. Her own dullness, Fang Anyu’s restraint, the hurt, the madness, the hatred, family turning against family—too many factors had made her hesitate and exhausted her. So she had chosen to escape.

Although the ending had ultimately been tragic, fortunately, even though every time their paths crossed it had inevitably been unpleasant, they had still loved each other in the end.

And they had a chance to start over.

Fang Anyu was hiccuping. He had cried too hard and now could not stop hiccuping, one after another.

He listened carefully to everything Jun Yueyue said. But because all of this, everything he had dreamed of, had arrived too suddenly, he could not react at all. His whole person was somewhat wooden. Only his dark eyes kept looking at Jun Yueyue without shifting away for even a moment.

So that was how it was.

This sentence kept looping again and again in Fang Anyu’s mind. He had not even dared dream of this. It turned out that back then, when he thought the thing he wanted was far beyond his reach, it had already been in his hands.

The fact that the two of them had missed each other could not actually be blamed on Jun Yueyue alone. Back then, if he had dared, like in this life, to beg her to be with him, perhaps they would have had a different ending.

Missing each other was still a regret in the end. The regret tugged at Fang Anyu’s heart thread by thread. The pain was not obvious, but it was endless.

Jun Yueyue emptied out everything she had been holding in her heart. Sitting across from Fang Anyu, she held his calf and squeezed it. “Do you have anything else you want to ask?”

Fang Anyu looked at her. After quite a while, he picked up his phone and typed a few words:

You said you would ask for leave tomorrow and stay with me. Is that true?

Jun Yueyue burst out laughing and sighed. “Of course it’s true.”

Fang Anyu nodded, then lowered his head and looked at his phone for a moment. Just as Jun Yueyue was preparing to change him out of his damp clothes, he typed a sentence and handed it to Jun Yueyue to see.

They had made trouble for almost the whole night. Jun Yueyue looked at her watch. It was almost four o’clock, and the sky outside was about to brighten.

She was truly tired. But the misunderstanding between them had been resolved, so Jun Yueyue was still very happy.

As soon as her nerves relaxed, she yawned. While yawning, she turned her head to look at the phone screen and saw written on it:

On the first day after we got married, you danced on the balcony. That was when I liked you.

Jun Yueyue’s yawn got stuck.

In truth, she had never really dared ask Fang Anyu when he had fallen for her. She had been too awful back then. She did not even know why Fang Anyu would like her. If their positions had been reversed, Jun Yueyue would absolutely have hated to death anyone who dared treat her like that.

She had guessed that perhaps it was after the two of them had slept together. After all, some people said men fell in love through desire. Perhaps Fang Anyu had liked her because he had been intimate with her and had no other experience with women.

She had not expected it to be so early.

He had liked her so early.

That morning, she had thought she could finally use Fang Anyu to get close to Fang Anyan. She had woken up early in a very good mood and had not yet had time to speak harshly to Fang Anyu.

Jun Yueyue remembered that she had been holding a green watering can, as if holding a dance partner, wearing a nightdress as she spun a few circles on the balcony, then watered the flowers there.

In the morning sunlight, a young girl in a nightdress and bare feet held the watering can he usually carried and danced gracefully. She watered the flowers that only he cared about, those silent living things growing in their pots just like him.

She had appeared in such a magnificent way, painting a vivid, heavy stroke of color across Fang Anyu’s dry, pale life.

For a long, long time afterward, even after Jun Yueyue did many bad things to him, that first color still could not be covered. It still made him gradually sink into obsession.

When his eyes looked toward her, it was still during the time when she was joyfully leaping for someone else.

“This really is an abusive romance,” Jun Yueyue muttered. Then she sniffed with a sour nose. “Hurry up and change clothes. Let’s sleep before the sky completely brightens!”

The two of them changed clothes and changed quilts. Fortunately, when they had collected bedding beforehand, because of a certain unspeakable reason, they had prepared extra, so it was very convenient to change everything.

When Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu lay down, aside from their slightly swollen eyes, both of their emotions had stabilized. Fang Anyu held Jun Yueyue, resting his chin on the top of her head and gently rubbing against her.

Jun Yueyue held his waist, feeling drowsy. Covered by the warm quilt and held by the person she liked, she was on the verge of sleep. But she did not dare sleep.

She was afraid Fang Anyu might want to talk to her. If she fell asleep again and made him unhappy, that would be bad. After all, the origin of tonight’s “disaster” was that she had not properly stayed with him and talked to him.

However, this time, Fang Anyu had especially few words. Jun Yueyue waited for a long time and even asked twice, but Fang Anyu did not shake his head. Later, as the sky outside gradually brightened, Jun Yueyue felt Fang Anyu get up to pull the curtains closed. The room darkened again, and Jun Yueyue quickly fell asleep.

She slept all the way until noon.

When Jun Yueyue sat up in a daze, she truly felt comfortable all over. She stretched lazily and pulled open the curtains. Sunlight instantly spilled all over her.

A fragrance drifted from the kitchen, along with faint sounds. Fang Anyu was probably making food. Jun Yueyue was not in a rush to ask for leave at this point. It was too late anyway, so she might as well just stand them up.

What she found rather surprising was that Fang Anyan and the others had not come knocking either.

Jun Yueyue got up, put on slippers, and stepped down to the floor. She saw Fang Anyu standing with his back to her, cooking something.

The two of them really could not cook. Equally bad at it were Fang Anyan and Ji Fei. The best at cooking was actually Li Li. Even the canteen aunties in the base were no match for him.

Fortunately, Jun Yueyue was not picky. Fang Anyu used to eat delicately, but now he was not picky either, and could even make simple meals. Speaking of which, her plan to raise a delicate flower still had not succeeded. In the end, she had failed to preserve Fang Anyu’s constant-temperature protective cover and had made him suffer along with her.

As Jun Yueyue sighed emotionally, she hugged Fang Anyu from behind and leaned sideways to look into the pot. It was vegetable and sausage soup.

“We slept so late last night. Why didn’t you sleep more?” Jun Yueyue reached up to rub her eyes. She blinked and felt none of the pain or soreness from crying, nor were they swollen at all. Clearly, Fang Anyu had already healed her.

So thoughtful.

While Jun Yueyue was rubbing her eyes, Fang Anyu turned his head to check them. Jun Yueyue shook her head and said, “I’m fine…”

Then her movements paused.

Fang Anyu was already very fair, and his wood-type ability had made him almost flawless. But he had always stubbornly refused to remove the scar on his face.

At this moment, it was gone.

Jun Yueyue reached out and touched his face. It was smooth and clean. She smiled, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his face.

Fang Anyu took out his phone from his pocket and handed it to her. The words had already been typed:

The power is back. Go wash up. I’ve already asked for leave for you.

Jun Yueyue happily went to take a shower. After washing, she ate “breakfast” with Fang Anyu.

When the two of them came out of the house, it was already past noon. Both of them were dressed rather flamboyantly. They ran into several people not far from the door who were discussing how to repair the things damaged by last night’s storm. Jun Yueyue happened to meet Fang Anyan’s eyes.

“Why didn’t you go to training?” Jun Yueyue asked as soon as she opened her mouth.

Fang Anyan glanced at his older brother. Clearly, he also saw that the scar on his brother’s face was gone. He and another person were working together to support a fallen fence post. He froze for a moment before looking at Jun Yueyue. “Wasn’t it you who said that constant training isn’t good either, and that today everyone should take a day off to repair the base?”

Jun Yueyue felt Fang Anyu squeeze her hand. She made two “ah, ah” sounds and nodded solemnly. “Right. Repairing the base. Your brother and I are going to patrol the back of the base.”

Fang Anyan was quite speechless.

If she had not been carrying a plastic bag full of little snacks, he might have believed her.

However, he still pressed his lips together. In Fang Anyan’s view, this kind of behaviour was very childish. But Fang Anyan knew that his older brother would definitely like it very much. So he said nothing and continued immersing himself in helping prop up the large collapsed stretch of fencing and flower frames.

No one knew that last night’s violent storm had come from this warm, harmless-looking, lovable dual-ability user standing before them.

However, Jun Yueyue did feel a little guilty as she pulled Fang Anyu past the climbing roses that had been ravaged by the storm and scattered all over the ground. With every step Fang Anyu took, the rose vines beside him magically changed from little green rags into stretched branches and leaves. Buds swelled and even slowly bloomed open.

When Jun Yueyue noticed, Fang Anyu had left a trail of vivid red flowers blooming behind him. He stepped over fallen petals, like an immortal casually enlightening all living things with a turn of his hand. His clear eyes looked over at her.

Any seduction in this world would pale in comparison when he looked at her like that.

In short, she was utterly bewitched. When Fang Anyu pulled her toward the back mountain, her heart was pounding so hard it felt like she was about to sneak into the little woods with a first-love partner to kiss.

Jun Yueyue kept thinking that if she had liked Fang Anyu when she was still in school, he was only one year older than Fang Anyan. She would have been seventeen and he eighteen. If the two of them had experienced a youthful collision back then, how captivating would that have been?

The back mountain actually connected directly to the road they had inspected back then, near Xiude Town. When the resort was built, this whole area had been enclosed by a very high wall. In their previous life, there had been a small gate here used to receive survivors who came seeking refuge with supplies. Back then, Jun Yueyue and her squad had come here asking for help. Unfortunately, they had no supplies, and that black-hearted Li Li had not let them in.

But now, there was no entrance here at all. It was all walls, though they had not yet been reinforced with stone by Li Li like in the previous life.

The two of them found a sheltered, shaded slope and spread out a blanket to sit on. They took out all the snacks and placed them on the blanket, smiling as they shared amusing things they had each encountered recently.

The blanket was foldable and very large. Once opened, it was big enough to lie on. Jun Yueyue opened a bag of fruit gummies, fed one to Fang Anyu, and ate one herself. Holding it against her tongue, she smiled as she looked at the sunlight broken into gentle, non-glaring fragments by the leaves.

“It would have been nice if we had met even earlier.”

Fang Anyu turned his head. Jun Yueyue said, “Then I could have seduced you into committing a crime.”

Fang Anyu smiled and typed on his phone:

If you seduced me, I would definitely take the bait.

Jun Yueyue giggled. Fang Anyu typed again:

If I seduced you, would you take the bait?

Jun Yueyue nodded. “I would. If I had met you first, I definitely would have loved you so much I couldn’t pull myself away.”

Fang Anyu sat up. He stared at Jun Yueyue for a moment, then slowly rose and directly reached out to pull down the zipper of his jacket.

Jun Yueyue: “……?”

Fang Anyu typed:

Seducing you.

Jun Yueyue swallowed. Looking at the surrounding greenery and Fang Anyu’s pale exposed skin, she felt her throat tighten.

Usually, there might be ordinary people doing physical fitness tests and running here. But today, everyone was resting…

Jun Yueyue was still a little uneasy. With very unsteady willpower, she hesitated and said, “Isn’t this bad… It’s broad daylight here.”

As soon as Jun Yueyue finished speaking, the trees not far from them suddenly began wildly extending branches and leaves. They intertwined horizontally and vertically, like a suspended cage, swiftly dropping from above to cover the two of them.

The fresh scent of plants rushed into her nose, and Fang Anyu’s kiss pressed down on her. All that remained in Jun Yueyue’s eyes were specks of light filtering through the dense trees…

It was a very magical experience.

How romantic the beginning was, and how nerve-racking the process became, could be seen from the leaf fibers stuck beneath Jun Yueyue’s fingernails and the green stains smudged there.

In short, on that deserted little hillside, for the entire afternoon, there lingered soft, shallow sounds, like hums only released after restraint had reached its limit. The breeze swept them in every direction, shaming the wild grass and greenery across the slope.
