Drunk
As for Jun Yue dating Fang Anyu, the bunch of bad friends around her all treated it as something entertaining to watch. After all, for families like theirs, and at their age, dating was at most just dating.
Even if things were a little absurd, it did not matter. The adults at home would not interfere even if they knew, because most children born into families like theirs would eventually head down the path of business marriages. So when they were young and reckless, being a little indulgent was not particularly strange.
It had to be said that Jun Yue herself had not gone into it with any attitude of “forever and ever.” How novel. She was not even eighteen yet. She could barely take care of what was right in front of her, so why think about the future?
Fang Anyu was good-looking, had a good personality, was curious about everything, and was devoted. He never said anything that made Jun Yue unhappy. Whether it was partying all night at sea or going bungee jumping on a mountaintop, he silently stayed by her side and stood behind her. No matter when she turned back, she could always meet Fang Anyu’s gaze. He was always smiling at her, gentle and tender enough to make a person want to cry.
After this went on for a while, one week, two weeks, even one or two months passed. Autumn had already arrived, and when it became less suitable to play outside, Jun Yue began taking Fang Anyu to all kinds of cocktail parties, bars, and even casinos. The attitude of the Fang parents was very strange. They did not verbally support it, but they also had no intention of stopping it.
After Old Master Jun found out about it, no one knew whether he had completely lost hope in Jun Yue or whether he was waiting for them to split up on their own. In any case, he did not interfere either.
The only person who could be considered an obstacle in the middle was Fang Anyan. His reaction when he found out Jun Yue was dating his brother was especially intense. Every day he nagged nonstop, and even tried to stop Jun Yue from looking for Fang Anyu. On weekends, when the two Fang elders were not home, he would lock the front gate and shut his brother inside, not letting Jun Yue take his brother out.
Early autumn had already begun to turn cool. Jun Yue wore a cotton long dress, climbed over the wall, and stood beneath the Fang family’s building, cursing at Fang Anyan.
“Fang Anyan, is there something wrong with your brain? Even your parents don’t interfere with what’s going on between me and your brother. Why are you always sticking your neck out? Don’t tell me you have a crush on me!”
Jun Yue said disdainfully, and as she spoke, she even blew a kiss toward Fang Anyu, who was standing beside Fang Anyan.
Fang Anyan was so angry that smoke practically came out of all seven orifices, but he still refused to give in. He truly felt Jun Yue was too unreliable. His brother could not hear, but Fang Anyan had heard who knew how many ugly things said by people in their circle, saying that she had publicly declared she was only playing with his brother and would throw him away once she got bored.
As for his parents, Fang Anyan had tried to persuade them several times, but he was too ashamed to even say aloud what they were planning.
So he could only rely on his own strength to try his best to mess things up between these two people.
“You two aren’t suitable. Jun Yue, stop coming to find my brother. He isn’t like you people. He can’t afford to play around,” Fang Anyan said. “Breaking up early is better for everyone.”
Jun Yue could not help cursing, “Bullshit. Even my grandfather doesn’t interfere. Since when is it your turn to beat apart a pair of mandarin ducks? So what if I like him? I think the one who can’t afford to play is you. Do you have a crush on me, or do you have some brother complex?”
“You’re not suitable!” Fang Anyan said. “Can you marry him?! Sooner or later, you’ll marry someone else, but he can’t handle that. He can’t even replace something he’s used to when it breaks. If you two break up later, the damage to him will be devastating!”
Jun Yue had never thought of that layer before. Thinking about it, they had been together for more than two months now, and she did indeed understand some of Fang Anyu’s habits. But how old were they? Wasn’t it sick to already bring marriage into this?
Besides, how were they not suitable?!
Jun Yue refused to accept it. “We’re very suitable! We don’t even argue!”
Fang Anyan sneered. “You just like his face! He’s mute. How are you supposed to argue?”
Jun Yue was choked speechless. Furious, she huffed and puffed as she paced in circles below. They had been facing off for quite a while when Fang Anyan closed the window and went to the bathroom because he urgently needed to pee. But halfway through, he heard the sound of a door lock opening. He hurriedly pulled up his trousers and ran out, only to see that his brother had already run downstairs. Fang Anyan chased after him and saw the two of them holding hands, almost at the front gate. Jun Yue even turned back and made a face at him.
Fang Anyan buttoned his trousers and stamped his foot in anger. “I’m not dealing with this anymore!”
Jun Yue pulled Fang Anyu out of the gate and got into the car she had brought. All their friends were already inside. As soon as Fang Anyu got in, everyone left with a whoosh. This time, however, Wu Zhenfei was also in the car. He turned back and glanced at Fang Anyu, who was sitting close to Jun Yue, his eyes somewhat dim.
Fang Anyu was holding a small flowerpot in his hands, wrapped in colourful paper. As soon as he got into the car, everyone started making a fuss. They all knew he could not speak or hear, so they took out their phones and typed for him to see.
— What is it? A gift for Jun Yue?!
— You’re holding it like it’s so precious. Let us see! Open our eyes!
— Is it a plant? Jun Yue said you like growing flowers. Did you grow it yourself? That’s so thoughtful!
After Fang Anyu read them, he only smiled. At first, when everyone joked with him like this, he would clumsily use the phone Jun Yue had given him to reply to each person one by one. But Jun Yue had specially explained to him once that these dog things were all just talking nonsense and he did not need to pay attention to them at all. Only then did Fang Anyu merely smile every time and stop foolishly replying one by one.
The small flowerpot Fang Anyu was holding was indeed something he was giving Jun Yue. Today was Jun Yue’s eighteenth birthday. He had started growing this plant a month ago, hoping to give it to her today and tell her his feelings.
With so many people talking, Jun Yue also began to itch with curiosity and wanted to see it. But Fang Anyu usually granted her every request. This time, however, he only smiled and shook his head, refusing to let her see.
Jun Yue spread her hands toward everyone. “See? Even I can’t.”
Everyone burst into laughter. Even Wu Zhenfei smiled. Ever since the day he found out Jun Yue was dating Fang Anyu, he had always felt awkward inside. Why wasn’t it him? What exactly was better about Fang Anyu than him?
He had thought about it countless times, and only these past few days had he started to figure it out. Jun Yue probably liked that Fang Anyu was focused enough. In his eyes, there was only ever Jun Yue, no matter where he was or what he was doing. This was something Wu Zhenfei admitted he could not do.
But in Wu Zhenfei’s heart, there was actually still a small, unspeakable thought. Jun Yue’s personality was restless and lively. She liked someone softer than cotton, someone with no challenge and no personality. How long could she hold on?
He would simply watch and see how far they could go.
This time, everyone had chosen a farmhouse resort as the place to celebrate Jun Yue’s birthday. There were mountains and water, and they could fish and do other things. It was a one-day, one-night trip. Those who came were all people who usually had a good relationship with Jun Yue. Old Master Jun had wanted to hold an adulthood ceremony for Jun Yue, but she had refused.
Everyone was cheerful the whole way. After arriving at the farmhouse resort in the suburbs, they directly booked an entire small hall and fooled around for most of the night.
During the banquet, Jun Yue was happy the whole time. Her face had turned rosy from drinking, and she leaned against Fang Anyu. Although Fang Anyu had gone out with her many times, Jun Yue basically protected him and did not let him touch anything bad. Even when she took him to bars, she carried yoghurt in her bag for him. People who were not very close to them or had a bad relationship with them said behind their backs that Jun Yue was addicted to raising a baby.
But tonight, Jun Yue drank too much. It was her birthday, and everyone was drinking with her. Then she really got drunk. She saw Fang Anyu blocking drinks for her, then a few people egged him on to drink in her place. They typed on their phones, saying boyfriends all had to drink on behalf of their girlfriends, and Fang Anyu really drank.
And he drank boldly, refusing no one. After drinking, his face did not turn red, and his breathing did not change. Jun Yue watched and laughed, mumbling, “So you do know how to drink… You really pretended like a little white flower. Hmph.”
When everyone finally dispersed and returned to their own rooms, Jun Yue and Fang Anyu entered a suite. Speaking of which, the two of them had been together for two months, but they were still only at the kissing stage. It was not that Jun Yue had any particular complex about it, but Fang Anyu was truly too much of a gentleman. Sometimes Jun Yue even felt that he had no such thoughts toward her.
Usually, boys their age, especially when they were together every day, would not be like this. They had even slept together under the same quilt several times, but he had never once done anything excessive. There was even one time when Jun Yue hugged him and hinted at it clearly, but he had only stroked her head and gently coaxed her to sleep. Nothing happened.
However, while Jun Yue felt restless and tempted, she also felt secretly delighted. The boyfriends of her friends were all impatient before anything had even happened. When girls gathered together and chatted, they would always say that such behaviour was not true liking.
True liking meant being unwilling to touch.
Jun Yue felt very sweet inside and thought this made sense. The way Fang Anyu looked at her sometimes was as if he wanted to melt her completely. But during their usual closeness, he did not make even the slightest vulgar movement. He was as beautiful as a fake person, yet he happened to hit every point Jun Yue liked.
Over the two months they had been dating, she liked Fang Anyu more and more. She felt fortunate that she had not rejected his pursuit back then. Otherwise, how regretful would she be? Someone as good as Fang Anyu was truly hard to meet again.
After returning to the room, as Jun Yue forced herself to wash up, still drunk and dazed, she thought that if Fang Anyu remained like this forever and ever, staying with him for a lifetime would actually be very good.
After washing up, she did not even dry her hair. She came out with water dripping from it. Fang Anyu had his back to her and was tidying the bed. At the same time, he unwrapped the gift for Jun Yue and placed it by her bedside. He was drunk too. Even drunk to this extent, he had not forgotten to place the gift by her bed so that she could see it when she woke up in the morning.
It was the word “love” planted with tiny four-leaf clovers, and in the centre of the “o” bloomed a small flower. Fang Anyu had protected it very well. Even after all the commotion, it had not been affected in the slightest. This was his intention, the feeling he wanted Jun Yue to understand.
But after he set it down and got up, before he could return to his own room, Jun Yue hugged him from behind and pounced on him, pressing him onto the bed.
“Sleep with me tonight…” Jun Yue mumbled vaguely. As she spoke, she pressed down on Fang Anyu and laughed, twisting around and deliberately shaking the water from her hair onto Fang Anyu’s face.
Normally, she played like this too, and Fang Anyu would only smile and indulge her. But today, Fang Anyu was a little different.
After he turned over, his face was extremely red, but he did not move. He only stared as Jun Yue straddled his waist and played a prank on him.
“Gege…” Jun Yue called him.
Fang Anyu could not hear her, but after such a long time, through the tireless efforts of his teacher and Jun Yue, he could already read such short sentences clearly.
Jun Yue was calling him gege.
Fang Anyan was his younger brother and would always call him “gege” on paper or on his phone.
But only when Jun Yue called him gege did Fang Anyu feel that these two words could actually be so romantic.
Yes, romantic. The kind of romance described in books, the kind that made a person’s heart float.
Jun Yue’s wet hair stuck to her face and neck. Her tender young skin, because of the alcohol, was dyed a rich pink. Fang Anyu closed his eyes, restraining himself. It was not that he had no feelings toward Jun Yue. It was that he felt it was inappropriate.
The time they had been together was still too short. Jun Yue was still too young. He could not…
Of course, a bigger part of the reason was something he was ashamed to say: Fang Anyu did not understand this kind of thing at all.
He did not know what to do. He did not dare, and he also did not want the two of them to become unable to turn back.
It was not that he had not heard any rumours at all. He could not hear them himself, but naturally there were ill-intentioned people who specially translated them for him. Fang Anyu actually felt that some of what they said was right.
A person like him had no need to tie anyone down. Someone as good as Jun Yue deserved someone better and more complete. No matter how far she was willing to walk with him, Fang Anyu would be happy.
He maintained reason in their relationship. Reason made him restrain himself. This was a sourness and inferiority he had never told anyone about.
But tonight was a little different. The difference was that Fang Anyu had drunk alcohol, and quite a lot of it.
He had originally planned to put down the flowers and leave, but Jun Yue clung to him like this. When Jun Yue’s kiss fell along with her wet hair, Fang Anyu could no longer control his breathing.
Jun Yue even courted death by shifting around, finding a comfortable position on Fang Anyu.
This position was comfortable enough to completely ignite Fang Anyu.
When a young man burned, it far exceeded Jun Yue’s imagination. Especially when someone as restrained and gentle as Fang Anyu burned, Jun Yue found it hard to imagine how he could be this fierce, this wild.
That night, she kept calling him gege. She repeatedly begged for mercy. She knew Fang Anyu could understand, but even after she cried until her voice turned hoarse, it was useless.
From the look in his eyes, Jun Yue knew he was drunk. She had indulged him in drinking. At first, it had only been because she was too happy, but she had not expected that such a gentle person would become practically another person when drunk.
As Jun Yue gritted her teeth and endured while crying pitifully, she swore that she would definitely never let Fang Anyu drink again in this lifetime.
Wuwuwu… Jun Yue cried until her eyes were swollen.
The young man’s eyes were red, and he only knew how to charge forward recklessly. Only when she cried especially hard would he lower his head and kiss away her tears.
