TVFCATEOD Chapter 112

“Qingqing—!” The hoarse cry was drowned in the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd at the base.

Xiao Yang, Cheng Rui, and Liang Zhiyu ran frantically towards the girl. Their eyes were filled with despair, their expressions dishevelled, and they had lost their composure as leaders.

The girl who was hugging Fu Chen on the ground suddenly dissipated into thin air, like scattered specks of light disappearing.

Liang Zhiyu suddenly knelt down on the ground, coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his hair rapidly turned white to the naked eye. He grabbed the ground fiercely with his hands, his once gentle and jade-like face contorted and distorted, and crimson blood flowed from his ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. The horrifying scene was terrifying.

They watched helplessly as Qingqing disappeared into thin air, as if she had never come to this world.

Xiao Yang lunged forward but missed, his eyes bloodshot as he searched frantically. What happened? Why did Qingqing suddenly disappear? What’s going on!

Xiao Yang staggered and pounced, grabbing Liang Zhiyu’s collar with both hands, veins popping on his forehead. He roared in agony, “Brother Liang, use your ability, quickly!”

Liang Zhiyu’s pupils lost their light, becoming hollow and terrifying. His heart turned into ashes.

Those who play with time will eventually be played by time.

Even if he used all his abilities to defy the heavens and change time, he still couldn’t save Qingqing. Within a short half second, he tried dozens of times to reverse it, pushing his body to its limits.

No matter how much Xiao Yang angrily shouted at Liang Zhiyu, there was no response, and the pain of helplessness was sharper than a knife, stabbing at their hearts.

The joys and sorrows of humans do not resonate. While people cheer for victory and celebrate the world, they are unaware that the person who saved them has already perished.

The seventh year of the apocalypse passed after humanity defeated the mutant zombies.

Facing the harsh environment after defeating the zombies, rebuilding a homeland was not as easy as imagined. The post-apocalyptic world suffered extensive damage, and buildings, lands, hills, rivers, and oceans all needed to be filtered and cleared.

The zombies were all killed, but the supernatural abilities within humans did not disappear. With no zombie enemies, social order became even more chaotic.

Fu Chen woke up on the day Qingqing disappeared. There was a round ball called the System that told him Qingqing used a lucky coin to exchange his life.

That lucky coin was her treasure for returning home, but she gave it to him.

Fu Chen’s heart twitched in pain, and he told the System he didn’t want this life. However, the System informed him that the transaction had already been completed and couldn’t be changed.

In fact, he had long suspected that she wasn’t Bai Qingqing. It was only that night on the city wall that he asked if she wanted to stay by his side, but she didn’t give him an answer.

She wanted to go home so much, yet she exchanged it for his life with a lucky coin.

His Qingqing was so foolish.

Fu Chen had once thought that as long as she was willing to stay by his side, he would spend his entire life doting on her.

Parting in life and death, the most bitter separation, every minute and every second felt like a blade, tearing at his heart.

Even if they couldn’t meet, he hoped she would be well in another world.

The System said that as long as he was willing to exchange with soul energy, he would have a chance to see Qingqing again. Of course, he was willing. As long as he could get her back, even if he had to give up his entire life, it would be worth it.

The walls of the human base had not been dismantled yet, the zombies were extinct, but many mutated plants and fierce beasts had not died. Occasionally, there would be beast tides.

The winter night was bone-chillingly cold. Guards patrolled on the city wall and came face to face with two figures approaching. Their hearts skipped a beat, immediately heightening their alertness.

Xiao Yang and Fu Chen walked side by side, going straight to the highest wall and standing in the cold winter wind, gazing into the pitch-black night.

The night sky was sparsely dotted with intermittent lights, like an inky curtain. He still remembered that he, Brother Fu, and Qingqing stood on the roof, gazing at the distant night together. Even though they were in a wilderness filled with danger, they still had expectations for the future in their hearts. But now, Qingqing was not here, and even the most beautiful night view lost its charm.

“Brother Fu, I want to go see Qingqing tomorrow,” Xiao Yang said.

Fu Chen’s handsome profile looked cold and stern as he calmly replied, “Okay.”

In the spacious and sleek room filled with a technological atmosphere, a crystal glass coffin was placed in the central area, inside of which lay a girl.

She lay quietly in the crystal coffin like a gentle moon, her body nurtured by the chilly mist. Her skin was almost translucent, as white as snow, resembling a sleeping princess from a fairy tale.

Four years ago, they all thought Qingqing had died. Fu Chen somehow managed to find her body and placed it in this meticulously crafted crystal coffin.

She was asleep and never woke up again.

Fu Chen’s gaze was deep and intense as he stared at her.

The girl lying there was lifeless, like a puppet doll. She would never look at him with her clear and beautiful eyes again, nor would she call him “Brother” with her sweet and lovely voice.

“Fu Ge, can Qingqing really wake up?” Xiao Yang asked.

It had been four long years, and Fu Chen was still waiting. He was waiting, and they were all waiting for Qingqing to wake up. But there was no sign of her awakening.

Fu Chen’s gaze swept over the flowerpot placed on the cabinet beside the crystal coffin and said, “Yes.”

Before the System left, it told him that as long as he preserved her body well, she would eventually wake up. No matter how many years it took, he would wait. Even if it took a lifetime, he would stay by her side and wait for her to wake up.

Xiao Yang silently watched for a while, his eyes slightly red, feeling suffocated in his heart. Unable to bear it any longer, he turned and left the room.

In the spacious ice chamber, only Fu Chen and the sleeping beauty remained.

The small purple wisteria plant in the flowerpot beside the crystal coffin looked a little withered and listless. Fu Chen picked up a small watering can and poured some water for it.

As soon as the water was poured, the small purple wisteria immediately perked up, its branches and leaves stretching out as if it were a living being. It even attempted to entwine its leaves around his fingers, as if greeting him.

Fu Chen didn’t find it strange. Mutated plants were all sentient beings. But he didn’t have the mood to pay attention to a mutated plant. After setting down the watering can, he returned to the side of the crystal coffin, his gaze fixed deeply on the sleeping girl.

“Qingqing,” he opened the crystal coffin and leaned over, supporting it with his hands, and stared at the girl with closed eyes. He said, “How much longer do you want to sleep? Please wake up soon.”

“I’ve built a snow garden for you in Jingzhou. You can go skiing, have snowball fights, and there are penguins and snow foxes, the animals you like. You can do whatever you want.”

The man extended his well-defined hand, gently and fondly caressing the girl’s cold face. Her eyelashes were like frost, her delicate brows and eyes resembling ice crystals, freezing anyone who looked at them.

Unfazed by the cold, he continued talking to himself, “If you don’t wake up soon, the snow will melt in a while.”

In the quiet, pure white room, he seemed like a madman, speaking to himself for a long time.

He stayed in the ice chamber for a long time. Before leaving, he leaned down and gently kissed the girl’s smooth forehead. “I’ll be going on a trip tomorrow. You have to be good and wait for me to come back.”

The crystal coffin closed automatically, leaving behind a room of coldness.

Unnoticed by him, as he turned to leave, the small purple wisteria in the flowerpot crossed its two branches like arms, seemingly angry.

When Fu Chen died, Qingqing was heartbroken and desperate, unable to breathe from the pain.

When a person is overwhelmed with grief, they truly cannot speak. It was as if all their senses disappeared in an instant. Qingqing didn’t hear the system announcement that the mission had been completed.

It wasn’t until blood started to trickle out of her mouth and her body began to dissipate slowly that she snapped back to reality. She heard the voice of the system.

“[Host, you have completed the mission. Do you choose to use a lucky coin to revive?]”

She kept vomiting blood because her body couldn’t support itself. Explaining it would be complicated, so the system provided her with a detailed explanation.

Bai Qingqing wasn’t the original Qingqing, but she was the version 2.0 of Bai Qingqing, no matter which world she was in.

Now the system gives her two choices: first, use a lucky coin to leave and return to another world, and second, use a lucky coin to revive and stay in this world.

However, she proposed a third choice, to use a lucky coin to revive Fu Chen.

She thought her soul would disappear and die, but the system mercifully told her that she could be resurrected.

And then…

Grass is a plant.

The opportunity for the soul to return to the body is for Fu Chen to give her a true love’s kiss.

This is definitely the system’s twisted sense of humour. Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, they were at least humans. Who would be so twisted as to kiss a plant?

Damn it!

It has been four years, and that dog of a man completely ignored her. Besides occasionally watering her, he never looked at her properly.

Every day, she would stare at her own body or sleep to absorb nutrients from the air. It was so boring that she felt like she was rotting and wished she could jump out of the soil.

Give that dog of a man one more month, Qingqing vowed in her heart. If he still can’t recognize her, she would run away from home. Hmph.

One month passed quickly.

Fu Chen didn’t come even once. In this lonely space, it felt like there was only her and her soulless body left.

Qingqing was furious.

She was going to run away from home and find another wild man.

Just as she took the first step, someone immediately helped her take a million steps.

Besides Fu Chen, the only person allowed to visit this room was Xiao Yang. When he walked into the room and saw the flowerpot smashed on the ground, he furrowed his brows, walked over, squatted down, and stared at the fallen small purple wisteria.

“Weird, how did it fall on the ground?”

The spacious room was completely sealed, so a mosquito couldn’t even fly in. How could the flowerpot suddenly fall on the ground?

Qingqing looked at him and waved the branches: “I’m tired of this place. Take me away quickly.”

Since the flowerpot was broken, Xiao Yang had no choice but to hold the small purple wisteria in his hands and looked at the still sleeping girl, then he took the small purple wisteria with him.

Xiao Yang returned home holding the small purple wisteria, found another flowerpot, and put her in the living room.

“Where did the flower come from?” a gentle voice came.

Xiao Yang turned around and looked at the white-haired man, saying, “Brother Liang, when did you arrive?”

Liang Zhiyu smiled lightly, “Just arrived recently.”

He glanced at the small purple wisteria and said, “Can you give it to me?”

Xiao Yang instinctively wanted to refuse, but Liang Zhiyu narrowed his fox-like eyes and smiled gently, “You’re so stingy, not even giving a flower.”

Xiao Yang pursed his lips unhappily and held the flower tightly.

Little did he know, a few days later, Liang Zhiyu took the small purple wisteria with him and went to the snow base.
