Bai Qingqing lowered her gaze, staring at her phone, ignoring her.
Last time in Wucheng, when she killed that perverted man, she thought she had woken up Bai Tiantian. But in the Yaoyang Base, Bai Tiantian almost killed her.
The female protagonist had a Mary Sue halo surrounding her. Even in the most dangerous situations, she wouldn’t be in mortal danger. But that didn’t apply to Bai Tiantian.
She wanted to cherish her own life and focus on completing the missions to survive.
Bai Tiantian stared at the girl playing games with lowered eyes, standing awkwardly in place. She felt extremely upset to be ignored like this.
She was just an ordinary girl, lacking consideration in many things. In this post-apocalyptic world where most of humanity turned into zombies, she couldn’t bear to witness cruel things and wanted to help the vulnerable.
She didn’t intentionally cause trouble for the team, nor did she intentionally harm Qingqing.
After the incident with the Ye family, the team didn’t abandon her, but their attitude towards her became much colder. Even though she tried her best to please them, she couldn’t get their attention.
The root cause of all this was Bai Qingqing. If she could gain Bai Qingqing’s forgiveness, everyone wouldn’t ignore her anymore, right?
That’s what she thought in her heart, but her half-sister, Bai Qingqing, deliberately ignored her existence.
Bai Tiantian felt bitter in her heart, as if there were insects gnawing at her heart, a mixture of bitterness and pain. Her eyes turned red, feeling wronged and pitiful.
Fu Chen lifted his cold, black eyes and looked at her with undisguised disgust.
That gaze was like a sharp knife, instantly piercing her brain, making her want to curl up in pain.
Bai Tiantian bit her pale lips, tears streaming down her face. She had only made one mistake. In the end, the team resolved the crisis, so why were they treating her like this?
Bai Tiantian felt like a deflated ball, lacking the courage to speak up, standing in place, watching Bai Qingqing and Fu Chen joking and chatting.
Bai Qingqing failed another game and pouted. This kind of parkour game wasn’t suitable for her. She always stumbled upon obstacles halfway or attracted monsters chasing after her.
She would tremble when she got nervous, and then the game would end.
Bai Qingqing was about to switch to another game when Shen Mingxuan’s voice came from the living room, “Tiantian, what are you doing standing there?”
Shen Mingxuan went to get water and saw Bai Tiantian standing in front of Bai Qingqing, looking pitiful and full of grievances.
He subconsciously thought that Bai Qingqing was bullying Bai Tiantian again. Faced with Bai Qingqing’s cold gaze, his mind suddenly became clearer and he didn’t rush to defend Bai Tiantian as he used to.
Bai Tiantian choked up and looked at him, wanting to say something but couldn’t find the words.
This suffering was something she should bear. Because of her mistake, she really wanted Bai Qingqing’s forgiveness, but Qingqing didn’t even give her a chance.
Shen Mingxuan handed her a few tissues and said, “It’s getting late, go to sleep.”
Bai Tiantian held the tissues, tears flowing uncontrollably, but she didn’t move.
Shen Mingxuan frowned and looked at Bai Qingqing, saying, “Let Tiantian say what she wants to say. Just listen to her for a few words. What’s wrong with that? Do you think you’re still a young miss who everyone has to cater to?”
Fu Chen’s handsome face turned cold, and he looked at Shen Mingxuan with a dark gaze. “Whether Qingqing wants to listen or not is her own business. Don’t meddle in other people’s affairs.”
Shen Mingxuan’s eyes turned icy, showing no signs of backing down. “Captain, I know you like to protect Bai Qingqing, but if you really reject Tiantian, you shouldn’t have brought her with us in the first place.”
The entire team knew that Fu Chen brought Bai Tiantian because of her spatial ability. In Fu Chen’s eyes, there were only two types of people: those he could use and those he cared about.
Their relationship was good, but when it came to Bai Tiantian’s issues, conflicts always arose.
Fu Chen stared sharply at Shen Mingxuan. He thought that the rest of the team was no longer influenced by Bai Tiantian, but Shen Mingxuan seemed to be just as strange as in the past, inexplicably infatuated with Bai Tiantian.
In the past, the team had many conflicts and rivalries because of Bai Tiantian, splitting up and fighting over her, even resorting to battles between major bases.
Tension filled the living room, and the two men’s faces were covered in dark clouds, on the verge of erupting.
Bai Tiantian quickly grabbed Shen Mingxuan’s arm and pleaded, “Please, don’t say anything. It’s all my fault. You don’t need to speak up for me.”
Fu Chen had a dominant and overbearing personality, and he was powerful. As the team captain, Shen Mingxuan couldn’t win against him; he would only get beaten up.
The team had been together for over half a year since the beginning of the apocalypse. They had a deep bond, but they would often clash over trivial matters. In the end, they would blame her. She didn’t like seeing that.
Liang Zhiyu came out of the kitchen and saw the scene before him. He calmly said, “Are you two fighting?”
A faint cold smile played at the corner of his lips. “Shouldn’t these things between girls be resolved by themselves?”
The foggy city was right in front of them, full of lurking dangers. Zombies and ability users were all enemies. He didn’t want the team to have disagreements over insignificant matters like this.
Bai Qingqing’s eyes flickered and she put down her phone, saying to Bai Tiantian, “What do you want to say? I’m listening.”
Bai Tiantian turned to look at her. At this moment, she suddenly felt willing to talk to her, but why did Qingqing ignore her earlier?
She bit her lower lip, hesitated for a moment, and spoke, “Qingqing, I want to apologize to you. It was all because of me in the Yaoyang Base…”
Speaking, she couldn’t help but shed tears, quickly wiping them away with her hand, and said, “I didn’t mean to hurt you, I’m really sorry.”
“You know you’re wrong, and that’s enough.” Bai Qingqing looked at her meaningfully and said lightly, “I forgive you.”
The girl’s casual words sounded like perfunctory, but the fact that she forgave her made it hard for Bai Tiantian to swallow or say anything. That’s just how Bai Tiantian felt.
Bai Qingqing was still holding a grudge against her, and it made Bai Tiantian feel uncomfortable.
Regardless of what others thought, Bai Qingqing lazily yawned and said, “Brother, I want to go to sleep.”
Fu Chen glanced at the others and led her upstairs to arrange accommodation.
There weren’t many rooms upstairs in the modified car, so she still stayed in Xiao Yang’s small room. She took some things from her space and decorated it, turning it into a private and cozy little bedroom.
After taking a bath, she moved the bed closer to the window and opened the curtains to look at the night view outside.
The moon in the sky was shining with a gorgeous red glow, and under the eerie moonlight, the wilderness appeared somewhat strange, as if she had entered a strange illusion.
It started raining again outside, and the sound of the drizzling rain hitting the window was audible.
Tomorrow, the team would enter the Mist City, and only by successfully passing through the Mist City could they reach the remote experimental area, the place where the virus originated in the apocalypse. That place had long been overrun by monsters.
Li Jin, the side mission target, was nowhere to be found. The system didn’t transmit a failure message, so he should still be alive.
In the original plot, there was no segment about going to the City of Death, and the description of the Mist City was only a few strokes. She was a little worried about what kind of danger they would face tomorrow.
The only consolation was that the air hadn’t been heavily polluted yet, but the soil and water sources that had been drenched, as well as the accelerated mutation of plants and animals, made her wonder when she could experiment with manipulating plants and animals.
Unfortunately, during these past few months on the road, she rarely encountered mutated plants and animals, so she couldn’t test her own supernatural abilities.
She could only silently pray that they would be able to successfully rescue the target of the side mission in the City of Death this time and not encounter the terrifying Zombie Emperor.
She didn’t want to experience another zombie apocalypse like the one before. If it weren’t for Cheng Rui’s desperate protection, she would have been torn to pieces in the sea of zombies long ago.
With worries in her heart, she slowly fell asleep.
The next day.
The weather was clear after the rain, and the strong sunlight shone into the room, illuminating the interior.
Bai Qingqing got up and went downstairs to wash up. Just as she entered the bathroom door, she almost collided with Xiao Yang. The two of them narrowly avoided a collision.
Xiao Yang glanced at the living room, grabbed her arm, and pulled her into the washroom. His chestnut-coloured hair was a bit messy, and there was a bruise on his handsome face.
“Qingqing, my face hurts.”
Bai Qingqing was forced to touch his face, and he held her forcefully. “Look here, it was Fu Ge who hit me. I got beaten up badly by him for you.”
He couldn’t openly compete with Fu Chen, so he had to use some tricks in secret. He wouldn’t give up on Qingqing.
Bai Qingqing caressed Xiao Yang’s face. Since the boy was taking the initiative to send experience points, she had no reason not to progress. She coaxed him, saying, “Brother is really too much. I’ll apply some medicine to you later.”
Xiao Yang revealed a cute toothy smile, and he lowered his head to kiss her tender face. His breath was scorching and intense. “Qingqing, you’re so kind.”
Bai Qingqing had to grab his hair and gently pull him back. “Don’t get too close.”
Her delicate face flushed, and her clear eyes showed shyness and unease, like a bullied little lamb.
Xiao Yang’s eyes showed a hint of impatient desire. “I just want to kiss you.”
With his beloved girl in his arms, he couldn’t control himself and wanted to get closer to her in every way. There were unfamiliar emotions surging in his eyes.
Bai Qingqing struggled, but he pressed his lips against her cheek, gradually trying to move towards her lips.
The sound of conversation came from the living room, and her struggling strength increased. “Let go of me.”
Xiao Yang had no choice but to let go of her, pretending that nothing had happened, and left the washroom. He felt as happy as a cat that had stolen a fish. Qingqing didn’t resist his intimacy, which meant she really liked him.
Bai Qingqing stared at the blushing girl in the mirror and sighed inwardly. The boy was even less restrained than she thought. He thought he was an obedient little puppy, but he turned out to be a wolf.
She had a premonition that Xiao Yang would become more dominant in the future.
After everyone finished breakfast, the car headed towards the Mist City. Bai Qingqing was on the rooftop of the modified car, holding a gun and looking ahead, with Fu Chen standing beside her.
The closer they got to the Mist City, the more unsettling the atmosphere became.
The road was damaged, full of potholes, and even before entering the city, many zombies were already moving upon sensing their presence, roaring ferociously as they charged.
Bai Qingqing quickly picked up her gun and opened fire. She had a lot of supplies stored in her space, and she had plenty of bullets. She didn’t need to consider any techniques; she could kill zombies indiscriminately.
These zombies were much more agile than those in the early days of the apocalypse. They moved quickly, and before one wave was completely eliminated, another one came rushing over. The car continued to plow through.
The entire city of Mist City was shrouded in a gray mist, and the sun was nowhere to be seen in this gloomy city. There were many zombies on the streets, and the modified car couldn’t afford to stop.
Shen Mingxuan flipped up to help clear the road with his supernatural ability. Xiao Yang drove to an area with fewer zombies under Liang Zhiyu’s command. Just as they parked, they saw a girl being chased by zombies and running towards them.
“Help… help me!” The girl collapsed weakly in front of the car, pleading for help.
