TVFCATEOD Chapter 79

Bai Qingqing thought that the supernatural beings from the Central Base would take a different route from her, but she didn’t expect that they were also heading towards the City of Death.

Her gaze darkened slightly, and she speculated about what the other party intended to do.

Could it be that they had discovered the death of their comrade and suspected Shen Mingxuan’s involvement? They secretly followed her, waiting for an opportunity to retaliate. If they wanted revenge, they could have done it back at the service area. Why did they follow her for several days without making a move?

Shen Mingxuan had consumed two high-level crystal nuclei and advanced to the fourth rank, while her plant-controlling ability had also reached the fourth rank. Plus, she had spatial abilities, so she wasn’t afraid of any confrontation. However, regardless of the other party’s intentions, she needed to remain vigilant.

Bai Qingqing parked the car under a residential building and led Shen Mingxuan inside.

The town she arrived at was called Luo Town. After the apocalypse, the residents had turned into zombies, and now the town was desolate and dilapidated. Rusty abandoned cars were parked on the streets, and the houses were severely damaged. It was no longer a place fit for human habitation.

Perhaps the Thunder Squad had passed through here and cleaned up, as there weren’t many zombies around Luo Town. Occasionally, there were crows feasting on rotting flesh, emitting eerie and piercing cawing sounds.

After entering the room, Bai Qingqing pulled Shen Mingxuan inside and closed all the curtains.

She stood by the window, lifted a corner of the curtain, and saw that the Central Squad’s off-road vehicle was also parked on the roadside. Several men got out of the vehicle and cast their gaze towards the residential building where she had stopped.

Bai Qingqing let go of the curtain, her delicate and beautiful brows showing a hint of coldness. She was certain that the other party had followed her with ill intentions.

Shen the zombie looked at her slightly tense face, feeling somewhat puzzled. He knocked his head against the window to imitate her and sneak a peek outside.

He caught a whiff of an unusual scent—the scent of those men he had encountered before. The enticing scent of living humans filled him, and his cold blood began to stir, a restless killing intent surging within him.

Having lived with Bai Qingqing for half a month, she was both his master and friend. He had grown accustomed to her scent, and the impulse to crack open her skull no longer existed within him.

But others were different. To him, all the humans appearing in front of him were chunks of succulent meat, waiting for him to devour.

Shen the zombie felt a bit hungry, his silver-grey eyes emitting a green light as he stared at those men, imagining digging into their skulls to obtain the shiny energy inside.

Bai Qingqing saw through his thoughts with a single glance. Even if the zombie had reached a high rank, his primal instincts of craving living humans couldn’t be controlled.

She slapped him on the head and warned in a low voice, “No killing indiscriminately, got it?”

Shen the zombie’s head buzzed. He turned his head to look at her solemn face, his silver-grey pupils showing a hint of grievance. He grumbled and found a place to sit down.

Seeing his display of anger, Bai Qingqing’s lips curved slightly. She walked over and threw a crystal nucleus at him, saying, “Here’s your reward.”

Shen the zombie caught the small crystal nucleus and happily devoured it. The pale and handsome face softened a bit, and he obediently waited for her command.

Bai Qingqing

instructed, “Sit here and don’t move. I’ll go out and take a look.”

Shen the zombie nodded.

Just as Bai Qingqing opened the door, she heard a voice from outside, “Little girl, open the main gate and let us in.”

She walked out from the living room, opened the gate to the courtyard, and looked at the several men outside. She asked, “What do you want?”

One of the round-faced men smiled and said, “Where are you two heading? There are many zombies around Luo Town. Let’s go together for mutual support.”

Bai Qingqing replied with a question, “And what about you? Where are you going?”

The round-faced man said, “Yi City.”

Bai Qingqing’s heart trembled slightly. Yi City, also known as the City of Death, was the origin of the zombie virus outbreak. Since the spread of the virus, humans had stayed away from that place. Why weren’t they afraid to go there?

Could it be that they were also sent by the base to find the source of the zombie virus?

The round-faced man continued to inquire, “Are you passing through Yi City to get to the Snowfield Base or the Southwest Base?”

The closest three major bases to Yi City were Snowfield, Southwest, and Yaoyang. Central Base and Jingzhou Base were a bit farther away. Unless it was a death mission given by the base, superhumans wouldn’t choose this route.

“Snowfield Base,” Bai Qingqing casually mentioned a location.

The round-faced man exchanged a glance with his companions and said, “What a coincidence, we’re heading the same way.”

Bai Qingqing knew that they wouldn’t give up until they achieved their goal, so she simply let them in and said, “I’ll be staying here tonight. My friend and I will be in the second-floor room. There’s a bedroom on the first floor if you’re comfortable with that.”

“Thanks, little girl, you’re thoughtful,” the round-faced man smiled, showing his teeth.

Bai Qingqing didn’t say anything else. She went upstairs and entered the room. Just as she opened the door and walked in, Shen the zombie pounced on her, examining her up and down.

He emitted a dangerous aura, like a beast intruding into its territory, filled with aggression.

Bai Qingqing pushed him away and said, “There are people outside. Don’t go out.”

Shen the zombie was very unhappy that those humans insisted on following them, but he had to listen to her and refrain from killing.

After sitting quietly in the room for a while, Bai Qingqing went to the high point of her space and fetched some food. She inspected the mutated fruits and vegetables she had planted before coming out of her space.

“Knock knock!” came the sound of knocking on the door. “Little girl, have you had dinner? We cooked instant noodles. Do you and your friend want to come down and have some?”

Shen the zombie immediately revealed his sharp fangs, his silver-grey pupils emanating strong killing intent.

Bai Qingqing glared at him, and he restrained himself. She went to open the door and asked, “You cooked noodles?”

The round-faced man appeared kind and said, “Yes, if you haven’t eaten, come down and have some with us. Don’t starve.”

Bai Qingqing put on an innocent smile, seeming a bit shy, and said, “Actually, I just had some bread.”

“Bread won’t be enough,” the round-faced man immediately said, “Come down and eat. It won’t taste good when it gets cold. We made enough for you two.”

“Okay,” Bai Qingqing responded, “I’ll come down in a bit.”

The round-faced man glanced into the room, then turned and went downstairs, a grim expression on his face.

Bai Qingqing had Shen the zombie disguise himself again. With sunglasses and a mask on, no one could tell whether he was a human or a zombie.

She understood in her heart that those superhumans from the Central Base would never let her go, no matter what. But just because they were humans didn’t mean she had to avoid them.

Bai Qingqing and Shen Mingxuan went downstairs one after another. The living room was lit with candles, and several men were enjoying their meal, holding bowls in their hands. When they saw her and the man coming down, they quickly greeted, “Come down, take a seat.”

Bai Qingqing led Shen Mingxuan to find a place to sit.

The round-faced man handed her two sets of bowls and chopsticks, saying, “There’s still plenty of noodles. We added some ham. Eat up.”

Bai Qingqing picked up the bowl and chopsticks, glanced at the noodles in the pot for a second, then picked up a bit and tasted it. If it weren’t for the sake of acting, she would have spat it out on the spot.

“Why isn’t your friend eating?” one of the men next to the round-faced man asked. “Why wear sunglasses and a mask at this late hour? Take them off.”

Bai Qingqing put down her bowl and smiled, “Sorry about that. My boyfriend is quite delicate. I’ll take it off for him.”

She leaned over and reached out her fair and slender fingers to remove the mask from Shen the zombie, whispering in a low voice as she did, “Don’t make a sound. Listen to me.”

The black mask came off, and the three men cursed inwardly. Damn it, how could such a handsome man look like a girl, so enchanting and bewitching?

The eyes of the few men exchanged glances, revealing a hint of curiosity.

Light shimmered in Bai Qingqing’s eyes as she picked up the bowl and fed the instant noodles to Shen Mingxuan, coaxing, “Come, have a taste.”

Zombies only liked human flesh and crystal cores. Other food was tasteless to them. Shen the zombie didn’t want to open his mouth, but she forced him to eat a bit of instant noodles.

A faint smile crossed Bai Qingqing’s eyes as she turned to look at the stunned men and asked, “Why are you all staring at us like that?”

Doubts arose in the round-faced man’s mind. Could it be that this man didn’t have any superpowers and was just a useless pretty face?

In the unbalanced world of the apocalypse, the strong determined one’s social status. Many women with high-level abilities also kept lovers like men, while some pretty boys disregarded their dignity and willingly became male pets.

They remembered that it was the girl who was driving, while the man had a pale and weak appearance, seemingly a useless male pet.

Tsk tsk, such a waste, only good for looking at.

After finishing their meal, the round-faced man persuaded Bai Qingqing and her boyfriend to sit and play for a while. It was still early for sleeping, so they could chat a bit before resting.

Bai Qingqing pulled Shen Mingxuan to sit down, and not long after, she tugged at his arm, pretending to be tired and fell asleep.

The round-faced man and his companions suddenly stood up and stared at the two people passed out on the couch. “Did the medicine take effect?”

“It should have, boss,” the skinny guy said. “I gave a dose strong enough to knock out a cow.”

The round-faced man glanced at Shen Mingxuan and spat, “What bad luck, liking this kind of pretty boy.” He stared at the woman on the couch with a graceful figure and said, “Tonight, I’ll let you experience the pleasure of being a woman.”

“Boss, hehehe,” another snaggle-toothed man rubbed his hands in a lewd manner and said, “You and Skinny Monkey go after that woman. Leave this pretty boy to me.”

Skinny Monkey and the round-faced man looked at him, showing a disgusted expression. “You have such a fetish?”

Snaggle-toothed man shamelessly said, “I’ve never played with a man before. I want to try it out.”

Bai Qingqing, pretending to be unconscious, furrowed her eyebrows lightly. These men really had sinister intentions, as expected. Fortunately, she was prepared in advance.

Snaggle-toothed man eagerly approached Shen Mingxuan, his hand about to touch his shoulder, but suddenly, something sharp pierced his head. His body instantly stiffened, and he fell to the ground, convulsing a few times before losing his breath.

The round-faced man and Skinny Monkey turned pale, looking at the man sitting upright on the couch in shock.

“He, he’s a zombie…” Skinny Monkey exclaimed in horror.

Shen the zombie discarded his sunglasses and mask, his silver-grey pupils flickering with a bloodthirsty intent, revealing his fierce fangs.

Madwoman, the round-faced man and Skinny Monkey looked terrified. A human actually kept a zombie by their side for the sake of beauty, and now they regretted it deeply. They didn’t know if they could escape with their lives even if they fought desperately.

High-level zombies were stronger than superhumans of the same level. Those two teammates who died at the service area were probably killed by him.

The round-faced man pushed Skinny Monkey away and turned to escape.

Skinny Monkey’s pupils dilated. Before he could even use his superpower, his heart was ripped out by the other party and cruelly crushed.

Shen the zombie certainly wouldn’t let the round-faced man go. His figure moved like a ghost, catching up in an instant. His right hand transformed into sharp claws, emitting a gleam of sharp light, about to pierce through the round-faced man’s head. Then, a clear and pleasant voice came, “Don’t kill him!”

Shen the zombie paused, gripping the man’s throat and throwing him back in front of her.

Bai Qingqing looked at the round-faced man, who had wet his pants, with a smile on her face. Her voice was gentle, “Can we have a nice chat now?”
