TVFCATEOD Chapter 94

“Knock, knock!”

A girl in a white dress knocked on the door, holding a tray.

“Come in,” came a cold and indifferent male voice from inside.

The tightly closed door automatically opened in front of the girl, revealing a magnificent and exquisite hall. The silent space sent shivers down one’s spine.

In front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the splendid hall stood a tall figure with his back facing her, gazing at the view outside the glass.

Buildings emerged from the vast plains, as magnificent as human cities. However, the creatures strolling the streets were not humans but monsters called zombies.

This was the kingdom of the zombies, where ordinary zombies wandering the streets were controlled by higher-level zombies. She was one of the few humans in this place.

Bai Tiantian suppressed her fear and approached, carrying the tray. She walked up to the man and whispered, “The offering has arrived.”

The man’s profile was exquisite and beautiful. His skin was pale as snow, and his demeanour was cold and indifferent. Dressed in black clothes and pants, he resembled a mysterious vampire in the dark night. The white bandage tied around his left wrist seemed out of place.

He was the newly appointed Zombie Emperor, who controlled all the zombies. Humans didn’t know his identity or name, and hardly anyone who had seen him lived to tell the tale.

Thus, she was the only one in this world who knew that he was Shen Mingxuan, once a member of the Thunder Squad.

Shen Mingxuan’s gaze fell upon the small cup on the tray. His silver-grey pupils were cold as he extended his well-defined hand and lifted the cup, drinking the crimson liquid in one gulp.

Watching this scene, Bai Tiantian’s face grew even paler, and her hand trembled as she held the tray.

Half a year ago, when she was saved in the City of Death, she was terrified when she discovered that Shen Mingxuan was a zombie. But she was forced to follow him. If she ever showed any intention of escaping, she would be harshly punished.

At that time, Shen Mingxuan had no human memories. His handsome face was covered in bloodstains, his hair messy, and it seemed like he hadn’t rested or cleaned himself in a long time. He was dirty and smelled foul.

Zombies had no rationality, and she was filled with fear and apprehension. She wanted to awaken his humanity but received only harsh treatment and was rudely thrown out to attract zombies.

She was afraid and pleaded for him to spare her, but he didn’t agree. After devouring the Crystal Core of the Zombie Emperor, he upgraded to the seventh rank and regained his memories.

However, he was still an anomaly and could never return to what he was before.

She remembered that when Shen Mingxuan regained his consciousness and saw her, there was a complex emotion in his eyes that she couldn’t understand. It was a mixture of pain, hatred, and something else, as if he was looking at someone else through her.

Even after Shen Mingxuan regained his memories, he didn’t let her go. He forcefully kept her by his side in this place full of zombies. Even if she wanted to escape, she couldn’t. She became his blood supply, responsible for giving him blood once a month.

“Clack.” The cup was thrown onto the tray.

Shen Mingxuan said coldly, “Leave.”

Fear flashed in Bai Tiantian’s pupils, and she immediately put away the tray and hurriedly walked out.

As Bai Tiantian just left the hall, she ran into a man and a woman. Their tall figures and faces were not unfamiliar to her. They were the two Rank

5 Intelligent-Type zombies who had captured her in the Mist City—Zhou Hang and Yang Li.

Now, Zhou Hang and Yang Li had both upgraded to Rank 6, becoming formidable Zombie Kings. They submitted to Shen Mingxuan and became his capable generals.

As Rank 6 Zombie Kings, having regained their memories and possessing human-like intelligence, they were a close couple.

Zhou Hang and Yang Li glanced at Bai Tiantian with indifference. Humans and zombies were never the same kind. If it weren’t for Bai Tiantian being the Zombie Emperor’s person, she would have been torn to pieces by the zombies long ago.

Bai Tiantian bit her lip and didn’t look at them. She quickly lowered her head and hurried back to her own room.

The higher-ranked zombies coveted her, but as long as she stayed obediently within Shen Mingxuan’s territory, her life would not be in danger.

Zhou Hang and Yang Li pushed open the door and entered the hall, bowing to Shen Mingxuan. “Leader.”

Shen Mingxuan sat in his chair, his gaze cold as he looked at them. He asked, “Any news?”

Zhou Hang said, “We captured several mutants and learned two pieces of information from them. One good news and one bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?”

Shen Mingxuan lowered his eyes slightly and said, “The bad news.”

“Virologist Li Jin has developed the Pupil Virus vaccine, which is currently in the testing phase. The effects are not clear yet, but according to the mutants’ descriptions, this research breakthrough could be a significant threat to zombies…”

Shen Mingxuan impatiently interrupted, “Get to the point.”

Zhou Hang’s tone was cold, filled with disdain for humans. “Humans who have been injected with the virus vaccine will not mutate even if they are bitten by zombies.”

If the virus vaccine had been developed earlier, they would not have become monsters.

The virus vaccine, now researched by humans, posed a threat to zombies. Once the virus was effective, it would be the moment for humans to counterattack and execute their cleansing plan against zombies.

“Bang!” The glass bottle on the table shattered instantly, and the air around grew deathly silent.

Shen Mingxuan’s silver-grey pupils radiated a chilling aura, and his lips curved mockingly. “Humans are truly great. They have already developed the virus vaccine so quickly.”

“So what if they have developed it? It hasn’t yielded any results yet,” Yang Li’s gaze was icy. “Let’s unleash a few more zombie tides and see if they can resist. We will turn them all into zombies. Even if there is a virus vaccine, it will be useless.”

Zhou Hang glanced at his girlfriend, filled with hatred for humans, and held her hand. “Lily is right, Leader. We can’t wait any longer.”

Since they were both in hell, how could they be content with others standing in the light, passing judgment on them and killing them, without even having a grave?

Shen Mingxuan’s silver pupils turned cold, and he asked, “What about the good news?”

“Fu Chen is dead,” Zhou Hang’s eyes flashed with relief. “The news came from the Jingzhou Base, and it’s highly credible.”

Zhou Hang and Yang Li had experienced Fu Chen’s power in the Mist City. He was a man so powerful and twisted that he became the enemy of the zombies. Fu Chen had become the Zombie Emperor before Shen Mingxuan, and it was because of Fu Chen’s severe injuries that he was defeated by Shen Mingxuan. It showed how terrifying Fu Chen was.

If Fu Chen hadn’t died, it would have been a significant threat to the zombies. Luckily, he was dead.

Shen Mingxuan’s gaze darkened. Fu Chen was dead, and the news felt like a dream. How could he possibly be dead?

He raised his indifferent gaze and asked, “What about her news?”

Zhou Hang and Yang Li’s smiles disappeared from their faces, and they exchanged a glance before saying, “No news.”

“The mutants from the major bases are also searching for Miss Qingqing, but they haven’t found any trace of her.”

Zhou Hang and Yang Li held unspoken words in their hearts. It was likely that Miss

Qingqing… couldn’t be found in this world anymore. However, several human elites and the Zombie Emperor refused to believe it, crazily searching for Bai Qingqing everywhere.

“That’s enough,” Shen Mingxuan commanded coldly. “Leave.”

Zhou Hang and Yang Li turned around and left the room, the door slamming shut, casting the room into darkness.

“Meow~” A black cat jumped onto the table from somewhere and slowly approached the gloomy man.

Shen Mingxuan raised his hand and gently stroked the black cat’s head, his beautiful silver-grey pupils filled with turbulent emotions.

“Qing, Qing. How long do you plan to hide?”

The dirty man opened his eyes, and in the dim room, there was another faint breath besides him. His head throbbed severely, and his mind was flooded with various memories, like a tide of pain.

He covered his head, enduring the pain, and quickly absorbed the memories of his life before turning into a zombie.

Shen, the zombie, fully regained his memories and transformed back into Shen Mingxuan.

“Mingxuan… What’s wrong with you?” The girl’s voice was filled with fear and concern as she asked about his condition.

Shen Mingxuan suddenly raised his head, his silver-grey pupils turning blood-red as he stared intensely at the white-dressed girl in the corner. He remembered who she was.

His heart ached, and he choked back the pain, struggling to get up.

Bai Tiantian was startled, shrinking into the corner, and fearfully cried out, “Don’t come near me.”

Shen Mingxuan glared at her fiercely. Look, the kind girl he had protected so much showed fear, disgust, and repulsion in her eyes when she saw him turning into a zombie.

On the other hand, Qingqing, in that dangerous environment, had taken him, a zombie, away and cared for him like a gentle monster. She wasn’t afraid of death, of being bitten or infected and turned into a monster?

The delicate girl did everything she could to take care of him, giving him crystal cores, teaching him to clean himself, and looking after him until he gradually gained intelligence through evolution.

Shen Mingxuan self-mockingly felt that fate was playing with him, deliberately tormenting him in this way.

He hated it in his heart. Since she had accepted him as a zombie from the beginning, why did she have to abandon him and leave him behind?

Shen, the zombie, was like an abandoned stray dog, lying down exhausted, thinking of her, searching everywhere, and shedding tears for her in despair.

When he was a zombie, he couldn’t understand, but now he understood the reason. She was a human, and he was a zombie. Therefore, she left him when he could survive on his own.

Shen Mingxuan’s blood-red eyes stared at Bai Tiantian, hoping to find a trace of Qingqing’s resemblance on her face, but he realized they were nothing alike.

“Don’t come closer, go away…” Bai Tiantian cried out.

Shen Mingxuan’s heart convulsed with extreme pain. He turned around, waved his hand, and fiercely smashed the wall, causing it to shatter.

He, who had never loved anyone before, had unexpectedly fallen in love with the once-hated Bai Qingqing.

It turned out that being given hope and then abandoned was so painful, like having one’s marrow sucked dry, cold and suffocating as if falling into the depths of an abyss.

His guilt was quickly drowned out by the pain. He clenched his fists tightly, gritted his teeth, and vowed that no matter where Bai Qingqing was, he would find her.

Even if he was an anomaly, he wanted her.
