MDMSC Chapter 53

Fuck.

The suspension bridge panels were made from a high-strength alloy. Usually, when the resort was open, the bridge panels would be properly laid across the top. But once the resort side manually closed it, the panels would fold up and slide back along the steel cable rails into the storage room built on the resort side.

Right now, the suspension bridge was in that retracted state. There was no way to pass.

After Jun Yueyue stopped the truck, she turned to look at Li Li and asked, “Didn’t your subordinate say he was waiting? What’s going on?”

Li Li had already dialled the phone, but no one answered for a long while.

What they did not know was that Fatty, who had originally brought several people to wait at the entrance, had run into several wandering zombies when he went to open the suspension bridge gate. He was currently fighting desperately.

Fatty was covered in blood. There was only one brother left beside him. Tears slid down his chubby face. His fingers, pressed against the door, were shaking uncontrollably. His phone had long since fallen outside. The door of the small storage room where the suspension bridge switch was located had already been damaged and twisted. He was barely blocking it with his fat body, struggling against the zombies outside.

Just as he was about to be unable to hold on, the phone he had dropped outside rang. The force pushing against the door behind him suddenly lightened.

He slid down along the door, swallowed, and said to the companion whose leg had been cut open during their escape, “I’m out of strength. I’ll block the door. You go. Pull down the switch. Brother Li is back.”

Compared with Fatty’s build, this person was thin and wiry. He was not one of Li Li’s subordinates, but a worker from the water and electricity maintenance side.

The night before, after finishing the repairs, he had even discussed with his colleagues that once he got paid the next day, he would go home and hand the money over to his wife. He would definitely not have to sleep on the sofa anymore. If he promised that next time he would not drink until he threw up, his wife definitely would not be angry anymore.

But unexpectedly, overnight, his co-workers had all fallen ill and turned into man-eating zombies that should have only existed in films and television dramas.

Because he was thin and small, he had squeezed behind the door and barely survived. He had been saved by this resort’s second boss, and that was why he was still alive now.

He could no longer get through to his home phone. Xiao Ding nodded somewhat numbly.

He suspected that his wife had either turned into one of those monsters, or had already been bitten by one…

“Xiao Ding, don’t… don’t worry,” Fatty panted, wiping his face messily. “Once Brother Li comes back and we settle down, we’ll go out and look for your wife. Maybe she’s like you and just hid somewhere.”

Fatty’s words were only meant to comfort Xiao Ding.

The world had turned upside down overnight. At a time like this, if he could not get through to his home, and Xiao Ding had said that his wife had previously had a high fever, then after listening to Li Li’s explanation, Fatty knew that most people who had fevers had turned into zombies.

The possibility of Xiao Ding’s wife surviving really was not high.

But Fatty’s words genuinely comforted Xiao Ding. When a person was on the brink of despair, sometimes what they needed was not even someone to pull them up.

Sometimes, all they needed was hope.

A single hope could let someone keep going.

Xiao Ding nodded heavily. He was so thin that the skin on his face looked a little loose. When he smiled, he looked like a Shar Pei. He gave himself encouragement, then limped while supporting himself against the wall, walking to the switch and pulling down the lever to activate the suspension bridge.

On this side, the call would not go through. After Li Li hung up, his expression became extremely grave.

Although Jun Yueyue and the others did not want to suspect whether Fatty was deceiving Li Li, no one spoke. For a moment, the truck was terribly quiet.

At a time like this, after personally seeing companions around them gnawing on others and most people turning into man-eating zombies, even if Fatty really did not intend to let them in, it would actually be understandable.

After all, they had come from outside, carrying unpredictable factors with them. The resort could almost be self-sufficient. If the survivors inside no longer accepted outsiders, then the food and drink inside the supermarket and entertainment venues could sustain them for a very long time.

Everyone was silent.

But Li Li immediately spoke up to defend Fatty.

“Fatty not answering the phone… he must have met trouble. He wouldn’t screw me over. Something must have happened to him!”

When Fatty was young, his father had abused him. Twice, he had almost been beaten to death. His mother had ignored him. Both times, it was Li Li who had carried him to a small clinic.

After recovering the second time, Fatty had followed Li Li ever since. After so many years, Li Li and he were closer than real brothers.

Once, after getting drunk, Fatty had cried like a slaughtered pig and said that it was only because he had a handle that he could not marry Li Li. Otherwise, no matter what, he would have married him.

At the time, Li Li had been so frightened that he hurriedly poured a bucket of cold water over Fatty’s head and cursed that with his body size, if he insisted on marrying him, then that would be repaying kindness with enmity.

In this world, they had long since stopped being merely friends. They were true brothers closer than blood relatives.

Fatty absolutely would not…

“Hey, the bridge is opening!” Jun Yueyue, using the headlights, saw the bridge panels slowly sliding over along the cables from the distance. She interrupted Li Li’s wild thoughts.

Li Li’s eyes had already reddened. He was not worried about anything else. He was worried that Fatty had really met with danger.

Jun Yu quietly turned her head and looked at the faint redness at the corners of Li Li’s eyes. Silently, she slipped her small hand into Li Li’s large one.

Her hand was a little cold. Li Li turned his head and glanced at her, then burst out laughing.

“You’re not angry with me anymore, baby…”

Jun Yu turned her head back toward the window, but Li Li pulled her tightly into his arms.

They waited by the bridge for more than ten minutes. Once the bridge panels were completely laid down, Jun Yueyue drove the large truck onto it first.

The truck behind them quickly followed.

The suspension bridge was not a long stretch. Soon, the vehicle reached the entrance to the resort. Jun Yueyue was in front. Before they even got off the bridge, she saw, ahead of the bridge surface, zombies gathered at the entrance, attracted by the headlights and the sound of the bridge panels moving.

Jun Yueyue did not slow down in the slightest.

The large truck drove across the bridge and charged straight into the group of zombies blocking the entrance. Flesh and corpses were crushed under the tyres together with the zombies’ howls.

After entering the resort, the vehicle stopped in the square. The headlights illuminated the scattered but not small number of zombies in the square, slowly moving toward their truck. Everyone began arming themselves again.

They still had a tough battle to fight.

But this time, they did not need to face as much danger as they had with the monkeys.

The people in the truck quickly drew up a combat plan.

Jun Yueyue called Wu Zhenfei in the rear truck compartment and taught the people there how to fight zombies.

“Don’t get out of the truck. They can’t climb up either. Lift the tarp, take blunt weapons or knives, hit the iron railing, and draw the zombies over. Then you can attack their heads directly,” Jun Yueyue said. “Let the women, children, and those without fighting ability hide inside. The men should stay outside and kill zombies according to what I said. I’ll repeat it again: no one is allowed to get out of the truck.”

Jun Yueyue spoke while Wu Zhenfei had the phone on speaker. He kept answering yes and got it. Someone had already gotten up to lift the tarp.

Before Jun Yueyue hung up, Wu Zhenfei said, “The two people who were scratched by monkeys earlier… We blocked their mouths and tied them up properly. They can’t hurt anyone. But they’ve already mutated.”

“Kill them,” Jun Yueyue said after a moment of silence.

On the other end of the phone, someone suddenly broke down crying. It was very clear. They were probably the family members of those two people.

Jun Yueyue moved her lips, wanting to say something. In the end, she only hung up.

This time, Fang Anyu, Jun Yu, and Fang Anyan, who was still feverish, remained in the truck. The other three armed themselves fully and quietly opened the door, heading toward the rear compartment.

After climbing onto the compartment, they began hitting the iron railing together with the people in the neighbouring truck, who had already lifted the tarp.

This method of killing zombies was very efficient.

When the zombies heard the sound, they foolishly took the initiative to press themselves against the railing. Then, by smashing or stabbing their skulls hard, they could be knocked down very quickly.

There were dozens of zombies wandering through the courtyard. In less than an hour, everyone had used this method to kill all of them beside the trucks.

During this fight, the people who had been fleeing in panic finally began to understand what kind of world they had been forced into. Later, among those who fought, it was not only men. Several women gritted their teeth and joined in too.

“Be careful! Don’t let zombie brain matter splash into your mouth!” Jun Yueyue shouted. “And don’t wipe your mouth or nose with hands stained with blood!”

When only the lonely solar spotlights remained in the courtyard, shining into the dark night, everyone finally breathed a sigh of relief. They temporarily put down the weapons in their hands and jumped down from the trucks one after another.

“Jump where there are no zombie corpses. They might not be completely dead,” Li Li reminded them while swinging a stick at a zombie whose head was already crooked but which still staggered upright.

After saying that, he rushed straight to the small switch room that controlled the suspension bridge. Lowering his voice at the door, he shouted, “Fatty! Fatty, are you in there?!”

Fatty had already heard the sounds outside, but he had no strength to go out. He lay on the ground, using his fat body to block the door. His lower back burned with pain. It had probably been scraped open. When he reached back and touched it, it hurt, so he did not dare touch it again.

His body was getting colder and colder. His hands and feet were numb. He felt that he probably would not survive.

But after hearing Li Li call him, he still answered with difficulty.

Instead, Xiao Ding heard the voice and hurriedly threw himself toward the door.

“We’re in here! We’re both injured!”

Some of the people getting down from the trucks stood beside them, not knowing what to do. Another group had already walked over to help Li Li get Fatty and Xiao Ding out of the small storage room.

Jun Yueyue retracted the suspension bridge panels. Some zombies on the other side of the bridge had climbed up after following the howls on this side, only to be flung into the deep pit below by the folding bridge panels.

Fatty and Xiao Ding had come from the KTV area. The moment Fatty came out, he grabbed Li Li’s hand and cried, “Er Shuang is dead! Er Shuang was bitten by a zombie!”

Er Shuang was another one of their brothers. Li Li knew he had been with Fatty before. Since he had not seen him, he already knew Er Shuang was gone. But he had not said anything. Now that Fatty said it, tears immediately fell from Li Li’s eyes despite himself.

Fatty had almost never seen Li Li cry. Seeing him cry, he even forgot to howl. After freezing for a moment, he said, “Brother Li, don’t… don’t cry.”

But then Fatty said, “I probably can’t live either… My waist, my waist was scraped open. So much blood came out. I’m so cold, Brother Li. I have no strength. I…”

He was shivering as he grabbed Li Li and cried out his grievance when Xiao Ding, whose leg truly had a large wound split open, suddenly spoke.

“Brother Fatty, there’s no wound on your waist.”

Fatty’s crying choked.

Xiao Ding continued, “You scraped it, but it didn’t break open. It’s just swollen. I saw it when you were running.”

Fatty reached back and touched himself. His hand came away cold and sticky, and he trembled from the pain.

“But there’s so much blood… I clearly…”

He turned back to look. Unfortunately, he was truly too fat. When he twisted, it hurt so badly that he could not see at all.

Seeing Fatty covered in blood, Li Li had been so frightened that he had not even dared ask where he was injured. If someone had lost this much blood, they definitely would not survive.

But hearing Xiao Ding say that, he quickly lifted Fatty’s clothes and looked at his lower back.

There was a blackish-purple bruise, badly swollen and almost shiny. But it truly had not broken open.

When Fatty saw Li Li’s relaxed expression, he gritted his teeth and reached back to touch it again. Then he paused. He really did not feel the gaping wound he had always imagined.

“How is that possible… I lost so much blood. And I felt so cold, and I had no strength.”

Xiao Ding, being supported by someone as he limped, said faintly, “That blood is from the zombie you hacked to death. You were cold because you were lying on the ground. You had no strength because you don’t exercise…”

The atmosphere was very awkward for a moment.

Fatty grimaced and crawled up from the ground. Psychological suggestion really was magical. Just now, he had still felt as if his whole body was leaking air and that he was about to die. But once he found out his lower back had not been scraped open, he immediately felt that his body was no longer cold and weak. He could clench his teeth and run another thousand metres with no problem.

However, aside from the large injury on Xiao Ding’s leg, the two of them did have quite a few small wounds. Some of them, they did not even know how they had gotten.

There was no choice. After discussing it, everyone temporarily tied both of them up and brought them along, in case some of their wounds had been caused by zombie scratches and they mutated and bit their companions.

However, the two of them did not feel resistant. After all, they themselves really did not know how their wounds had been caused during the escape just now. Everything had been too chaotic. Besides, when everyone moved toward the nearest residential building, they placed the two of them in the very centre, together with the weaker women and children, with people supporting them. This was protection. They were not stupid.

The resort’s accommodation was divided into two categories.

One type was like a normal business hotel, more modern. The top floor even had a glass-roofed rest area and a swimming pool. It was prepared for those who were more particular. Currently, this section was the one fully open.

The other category consisted of individual rural-style cottages. Of course, they also had modern equipment inside, but the style was rustic and countryside-like. Meals were made in large iron pots. There was also a small courtyard in the back, with chicken coops, dog kennels, and vegetable patches, all included. This satisfied those more artistic, romantic types, families, or people bringing lovers to experience rural charm.

Even the drinking water in this section carried the name of being pure and natural. There was a circulating hot spring in the back courtyard. However, Li Li wanted to divert mountain spring water down and turn the hot spring into a real living-water hot spring, the kind that could be openly displayed. So this section had not yet been fully opened.

Compared with the hotel building where many people stayed, the little village that had not yet fully opened was more suitable for them to settle in.

Most importantly, where there were no people, there were no zombies. The courtyards of each house could also be locked. The fences were high enough too. For zombies that had only just begun mutating and had not yet learned to climb, this fence alone could block them.

However, the road leading to the village area had also been made into a country path. If they wanted to drive the large trucks in, they would have to circle around half the resort and enter through the renovation gate behind the little village.

Circling around the resort would definitely mean encountering zombies. If the trucks attracted zombies into the little village, then none of them would sleep tonight.

The exhaustion of a whole day of travel, the fatigue from being attacked by monkeys, the pain of losing loved ones, and all the chaotic turmoil needed the comfort of night.

They really could not fight anymore.

Tonight, they would lock the doors and rest first. Whatever difficulties and necessary confrontations there were could wait until tomorrow.

Everyone followed the small path to the village entrance. At this point, they could not go and look for the key to the gate. After keeping watch and confirming there were no zombies nearby, they violently broke it open.

The small village-style guest rooms had one main street with two rows of houses. Water and electricity were already connected, and there was even hot water. Each little house had a name at the entrance, such as Little Fang’s House, Erdan’s House, Gousheng’s House, and so on.

Those who knew one another and had supported one another along the way paired up and stayed together.

In the darkness, Li Li did not feel at ease letting Jun Yu walk on the ground, so he carried her on his back while also worrying about Fatty. Ji Fei supported Fang Anyan, who was burning with fever and dazed, barely able to move his own feet. She was so tired that sweat soaked through the back of her clothes.

Jun Yueyue held Fang Anyu’s hand. Each time she and Fang Anyu reached out to try to help, Fang Anyan would subconsciously shake them off and lean toward Ji Fei.

Ji Fei was swayed by his large frame pressing against her, yet she smiled indulgently. Jun Yueyue and Fang Anyu stopped reaching out.

Everyone had their own dependence and burden.

In a world like this, dependence and burden were the foundation for survival.

Having someone depend on you, having someone rely on you, was something heavier than hope. It was something even death and disaster could not overcome.

Jun Yueyue had not previously expected that Ji Fei, a mercenary, would wash her hands of that life for Fang Anyan. After all, even if Fang Anyan was excellent, he was still only an ordinary person. Having lived a life of licking blood from blades and being completely unrestrained, how could Ji Fei want to hand over her future and life to a man?

But Jun Yueyue understood now.

Ji Fei was like her. She had never thought of handing everything about herself to anyone. She had always held everything in her own hands.

In front of Ji Fei, Fang Anyan must have been soft. Because restraint could not keep her, but dependence could.

It was only at this moment that Jun Yueyue understood why, in the life where she had been obsessed with Fang Anyan, she had never been able to walk into his heart.

Because at their roots, they were not suitable.

She could not be as soft and harmless as Jun Yu, completely giving Fang Anyan trust and dependence. Nor could she be like Ji Fei, strong and straight, able to make even someone with Fang Anyan’s tyrannosaurus personality become dependent.

She and Fang Anyan were both like two hedgehogs, destined to be unable to approach each other.

Only absolute softness, or absolute wholehearted trust, could enter their hearts.

Jun Yueyue tightened her grip on Fang Anyu’s hand.

A person like her admired people who were similar to herself. But deep in her bones, what she longed for had always been someone who could complement her.

That was why, in the previous life, after Fang Anyu had touched her gently and harmlessly again and again, she had been unable to control herself from emotionally shifting her love. Yet she had still thought she was a fickle scumbag, not daring to admit it even until death.

In truth, she had once madly liked Fang Anyan.

But the only person she had ever loved was Fang Anyu.

In the end, Jun Yueyue brought Fang Anyu to choose the village secretary’s house. After entering, Jun Yueyue told Fang Anyu to wait at the door while she went inside to check whether it was safe.

Fang Anyu obediently stood at the door and waited.

The moment Jun Yueyue turned away, his eyes silently changed in the night.

Grey-white.

The colour only zombies had.

Fang Anyu carefully sensed the inside of the house. There were no zombies. Then, when Jun Yueyue turned on the light, he sensed the entire little village. There were no zombies.

Only then, before Jun Yueyue came back out, did he lower his eyes and change back to pure black pupils.

After Jun Yueyue confirmed that the house was safe, she pulled Fang Anyu inside.

The moment they entered, they were greeted by a large iron pot. This was clearly the kitchen. Walking further in was the heated earthen bed used for sleeping. The weather was hot now, so there was no need to heat it. They simply opened the brand-new quilts in the cupboard, took them out, and spread them on top.

The washing area had been deliberately made to look old. Even the washbasin had mottled wood grain. At this point, disposable items were already very satisfying.

By the time both of them had washed up and were lying on the bed, it was past two in the morning.

All was silent.

With her beloved in her arms, the world seemed as if it was still normal. It was as if nothing had become irreversible.

It was as if, during a rare break after being busy, she had brought her dear poppy beauty out to experience their own resort. Tomorrow morning, they would return to the city and still be able to eat the old-brand roast duck he liked.

Jun Yueyue closed her eyes and imagined all this.

But when she opened her eyes and saw the faintly visible leaves hidden in Fang Anyu’s hair, she sighed softly.

She contacted Ji Fei, Jun Yu, and the others by phone. They had all rested and treated their wounds. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief, put down her phone, and turn to look at Fang Anyu, who had been quietly watching her the entire time.

Jun Yueyue used voice input on her phone and asked the question she had most wanted to ask during these chaotic two days.

“Are you scared?”

After she input it, Fang Anyu immediately shook his head and even smiled at her.

Jun Yueyue paused while holding the phone, thinking that he had understood her lip movements. She said, “Don’t be scared. Remember the world I told you about? You’ve read books too. Now you also have an ability. From now on, you only need to stay here.”

After Jun Yueyue finished speaking, she brought the phone to Fang Anyu for him to look at.

But Fang Anyu pressed down her hand and shook his head.

Then he took the phone, deleted those words without looking, and wrote:

You can just say it. I can understand.

Jun Yueyue looked at the words Fang Anyu typed, and her heart gave a violent jump.

In the next instant, she realised what had been bothering her these past two days.

Fang Anyu’s reactions had been too fast!

He reacted too quickly after she spoke!

And when he said he could understand, did he mean the kind of understanding she was thinking of?!

Jun Yueyue was so excited that her hands trembled. She pulled the quilt with her and sat up on the bed. Looking at Fang Anyu, she asked in a shaking voice, “You can hear me speak?!”

“You can hear sounds now? Can you?”

Jun Yueyue watched as Fang Anyu also sat up on the bed. His deep dimples appeared at the corners of his mouth as he nodded toward her.

Jun Yueyue’s lips tugged upward. But her tears moved faster than her smile, falling rapidly.

Fang Anyu reached out and held her face, using his thumbs to wipe away all the tears on her cheeks.

“You really can hear?” Jun Yueyue could not help asking again.

Fang Anyu nodded.

Jun Yueyue said again, “How… how could you suddenly hear? When did it start? You didn’t even tell me…”

Her voice carried a sob.

Fang Anyu hugged Jun Yueyue, letting her sit on his lap with her back against him. Then he typed on the phone:

Because of the leaves on my body. I wanted to tell you, but you were busy the whole time.

Jun Yueyue sobbed uselessly. Her heart was filled with indescribable happiness. This was the only good news in these two days.

She wanted to test more. She wanted to say so many things to him. But a thousand words were all stuck in her throat. In the end, she could only ask one sentence.

“Really? You really heard me…”

Fang Anyu nodded patiently every time.

The two of them hugged, kissed, acted clingy, and cried pitifully for more than an hour. After three in the morning, they lay down again.

Jun Yueyue’s eyes were a little swollen from crying, but she still reached out to hook out a few of the little leaves on Fang Anyu’s head and gently flick them.

“You said you can hear, but not truly hear. Instead, these little leaves tell your brain?”

Fang Anyu nodded.

Jun Yueyue smiled. “Then they’re like antennas receiving signals, hahaha…”

As she laughed, her voice turned nasal again, and she began giving soft, detailed reminders.

“Although it’s very good that your ability has this effect, and later you can also treat ability users when they advance, it has no offensive power.”

Jun Yueyue said, “Most of the supplies the resort collected before were donated. The supermarket and entertainment areas don’t have much stock either. We still don’t know whether there are other survivors in the resort. Starting tomorrow, we’ll have to clear out the zombies and gather people together. Later, we may often have to go out to collect supplies. But you absolutely cannot follow us. Do you understand?”

Fang Anyu looked at Jun Yueyue. His hand tightened around the phone. In the end, he only nodded.

He still could not say that he had already remembered everything.

The world had become like this, and he was powerless to reverse it. The two of them being like this now was already very good. Extremely good.

Whatever she liked, he would become that.

After all, gaining her affection and protection had truly not been easy…

Fang Anyu obediently nodded. Jun Yueyue leaned closer and kissed his chin.

“Sleep. It’s almost dawn. There are still many things to do tomorrow.”

But Fang Anyu took the phone and asked:

Then will you often go out to collect supplies in the future? But you still don’t have an ability. You’re in danger too.

When he brought this up, Jun Yueyue remembered that there was still a long time before she mutated. She might even need something to trigger it.

But when she thought of the direction of that mutation… she began to feel conflicted again.

King Kong Barbie truly made her both happy and worried.

She could ignore other people’s gazes, but what about Fang Anyu?

Jun Yueyue frowned slightly and decided not to think about it for now. They would deal with it when the time came.

She only comforted Fang Anyu. “I told you before, I lived in this kind of world before. I have experience. Nothing will happen to me.”

I’m Worried.

Fang Anyu typed those two words, and the expression on his face also showed them.

Jun Yueyue’s heart warmed.

She burrowed into Fang Anyu’s arms. Under the quilt, her legs tangled with his. She rubbed her calves against his intimately.

Hugging Fang Anyu’s waist, she breathed in the scent of the same body wash on him as on herself. There was no fear of the future in her heart. Instead, she felt anticipation.

So what if it was the apocalypse?

Her world was in her arms.

It would never collapse.

The next morning, Jun Yueyue was so deeply asleep that she simply could not get up. It was Ji Fei, who came looking for her, bursting into the room that startled her awake.

Jun Yueyue’s own clothes were still loose, but she busied herself covering Fang Anyu with the quilt. He had not woken up at all and was not wearing clothes either.

Ji Fei was both amused and exasperated by her.

“Afraid I’ll look at your man? As if! Can you cover up what’s swinging in front of yourself first?”

“Get out!” Jun Yueyue bristled. “I’ll be out soon… You won’t even let me sleep. So annoying!”

After Ji Fei went out, Jun Yueyue yawned and began putting on clothes. Yesterday’s outfit was unusable, so she found the floral set specially prepared by the resort for tourists. After putting it on and adding a straw hat, she looked exactly like a village girl going out to work in the fields.

She was born beautiful, with red lips, white teeth, and a glamorous face, plus a curvy figure. Wearing this outfit, she looked like she could roll into a sorghum field with some man at any moment.

However, when she and Li Li split into two groups, each leading people to clear wandering zombies along the small paths, the bone-chopping cleaver in her hand swung with such force that no one dared think she looked like a third-rate erotic film heroine anymore.

The terrain here was best known by her and Li Li.

Fang Anyan was still feverish. When she came out, she had Fang Anyu go look after him.

They spent the entire morning clearing the surrounding zombies very smoothly. For some reason, the zombies here were always foolish and slow, their movements as if played at half speed. Like chopping vegetables, they cleared the area around them.

They took supplies from the trucks. Now that they had pots and stoves, they could finally eat proper meals. The corpses would have to wait until the afternoon to be dealt with together.

At noon, everyone returned with supplies to their own houses, resting and filling their stomachs.

Fatty and Xiao Ding had already been untied last night. Among the supplies collected from the trucks were many medical items. Coincidentally, among the people they had brought back from the freight workers’ family housing, one was a nurse, and she had helped treat most people’s wounds.

Soon, cooking smoke rolled up from the little village.

Those with girls in the house were the happiest. Clever and capable girls could always use limited ingredients to prepare especially tasty meals.

However, Jun Yueyue was not within the category of clever and capable.

After returning home, she did not see Fang Anyu and knew he was still at Fang Anyan’s place. Just as she was washing up, Ji Fei once again directly rushed into Jun Yueyue’s bathroom.

The door opened, startling Jun Yueyue so badly that for a moment, she did not know whether to cover her face or her lower body.

“What are you doing, Ji Fei!” Jun Yueyue exploded.

This time, Ji Fei did not tease her. She told her very seriously, “Hurry and go take a look. Your one fainted at our place. His little face is deathly pale.”

Jun Yueyue really had only washed halfway. The soap on her body had not even been rinsed clean. She randomly put on a sweat-steaming outfit she found in the cupboard and hurried after Ji Fei to the village director’s house across from the village secretary’s house.

The two quickly entered.

And then they saw—

Fang Anyu sitting properly beside Fang Anyan. After seeing Jun Yueyue behind Ji Fei, he even smiled lightly.

Ji Fei: ?

Jun Yueyue: …?

“He really did faint just now…” Ji Fei looked at Fang Anyu.

Fang Anyu had indeed been unconscious just now. He had been covered in cold sweat, his little face deathly pale, his brows tightly furrowed. No matter how Ji Fei called, he had not woken up.

Jun Yueyue looked at Fang Anyu, safe and sound, his complexion rosy and not at all like Ji Fei had described. She immediately turned back and lightly kicked Ji Fei’s calf.

“You’re making trouble!”

Ji Fei opened her mouth, wanting to say something.

Suddenly, Fang Anyan behind Fang Anyu made a muffled sound. Then he opened his eyes, felt around for the edge of the heated bed, and sat up. As soon as he got up, he started trying to get down to the floor. He staggered and nearly crashed into the table, but Ji Fei forcefully supported him.

“You’re awake? How do you feel?” Ji Fei had no time to care about Fang Anyu’s abnormality. She only focused on asking the burning-hot person in her arms.

Fang Anyan looked weaker than ever, and his whole state was not quite right.

Seeing him like this, Jun Yueyue felt that he did not look like someone whose fever had ended and whose ability had awakened. He looked more like Fang Anyu had before, waking midway to replenish energy.

She was thinking of showing some concern when she heard Fang Anyan say four words. Jun Yueyue immediately pulled Fang Anyu away.

Fang Anyan leaned beside Ji Fei’s ear and said, “Pee… drink water…”

As Jun Yueyue left the doorway, she was still rubbing the goosebumps on her arms.

The sight of a tyrannosaurus burying his head and acting spoiled was really unbearable to look at.

He was unlike Fang Anyu. Fang Anyu’s coquettishness was not deliberate. Besides, with his appearance, whatever he did looked harmless and not out of place.

But Fang Anyan?

That was an ostrich pretending to be delicate.

It was fortunate Ji Fei liked that sort of thing and had not been sickened to death.

Ji Fei watched the two leave, glancing at their backs. Fang Anyu followed behind Jun Yueyue. Jun Yueyue did not see that the back of his white sweat-steaming outfit was soaked through with sweat.

Ji Fei tilted her head slightly.

Fang Anyu was indeed a little off.

Just now, he had clearly looked like he was dying from overexertion. What was he pretending in front of Jun Yueyue for?

Fang Anyu was actually truly forcing himself.

His steps were floating, as if he were stepping on clouds. All morning, he had been doing his utmost to control the movements of the surrounding zombies, afraid that Jun Yueyue would not be able to cut them down smoothly, or that she might accidentally be scratched.

He had nearly stripped the zombies of their ability to attack.

But controlling too many at once was clearly beyond his current ability. Later, his head had felt like it was splitting, and he had fainted outright.

When Fang Anyu fainted, he forgot to switch his state. The colour of his skin and eyes had both been wrong.

Ji Fei had been frightened by his weak state. After calling him twice without response, she had hurriedly run off and did not try to pry open his eyes.

Fang Anyu actually knew all this. He had fainted, but he had remained conscious.

Fortunately, he had woken up in time…

Fang Anyu followed behind Jun Yueyue, walking very slowly. His legs were so heavy he could barely lift them. Even the leaves on top of his head were listless, curled up like they had lost water.

Jun Yueyue did not pay much attention. She only noticed that his palm was damp and sweaty. When they reached home, she turned and asked him, “Are you very hot? Ji Fei dragged me out before I finished showering. Want to rinse off with me?”

Jun Yueyue’s eyes were full of laughter… and seduction.

No matter when it was, Fang Anyu would never refuse any request from her. He did not know how to refuse her.

But he had still overestimated himself.

He had pushed himself too hard.

So Jun Yueyue experienced an absolutely excellent sensation: being held up and getting into it, only to suddenly free-fall from mid-air.

Fang Anyu fainted.

Fuck.

Jun Yueyue threw out her back.
